because they recognize true quality when they see it. everyone else is blinded by flashy graphics so they don't see that the games are rotten at their core, although graphics have reclined so that's slowly starting to happen. brazilians have a refined palate and like true quality

Speaking of modding PS2s, a neat little piece of homebrew came out very recently. DKWDRV allows for loading PS1 games over USB without the use of POPS. It's still very early and doesn't support certain audio formats and it doesn't do disc swapping but the readme says those aspects are partly finished.

If the former, I'd like to know what insane programming sorcery the dev managed to pull considering that the ps1 CPU pulls double duty as the ps2s hdd controller.
Yes, its meant to emulate an optical drive and its given structure. I would assume they just send all the bus commands to the PS2 EE when doing reads from the usb since its in ps1 mode. in theory it could run the same code as the ps1 cpu since both are MIPS but that's as far I got into reading.
I own all the Sony consoles including the handhelds and the PS2 is the only one I bother to whip out the closet and actually start playing.

A PS2 is more than enough if all you want to play is Fifa. Modders keep it updated faster than EA does and for free, with no microtransactions. Just sit down and play the fricking game.
Brazilians can afford modern consoles and maybe buying a few games, but the people playing Bomba Patch simply choose not to do so.
