      I fall to cravings too much and have to deal with a family that loves to eat. Although last year I fricked up big time due to personal shit happening at home that really messed me up and I went from 85kg to 110kg in 9 months and I'm finally starting to get rid of it again.

          Hmm? If anything I don't lose enough weight. It took me 2 years to go from 124kg to 85kg when realistically it should've taken a year and during that time every Christmas, Birthday and Event usually shot me up around 5-10kg every time.

          I know what the problem is (unironically my family) but since I've done it before I know I can do it again so I just keep at it. I just came back from exercising right now and since I've gotten used to eating at a deficit with 100g+ of protein in it I know I can lose it with time. Just wished I didn't frick up like I did.

            No, I was on half portions. Calories would range between 800-1200 calories depending on what I was eating, but overall I kept enjoying my usual meals and I would just stop halfway and put the rest away as leftovers for the following day.

            Literally eating nothing (water fasting) would've lost me considerably more than 50 pounds in that time. There's plenty of data out there of people doing long water fasts, and it depends on the person but you tend to lose around a pound a day doing that.

                To lose 50 lbs (175000 calories) in 3 months (90 days) you would need to average a 1945 calorie deficient a day. Assuming you at 800 calories a day your BMR would be 2745 calories. The blond haired blue eyed 6 foot tall 20 year old male that you are would have to be 374 lbs to have a BMR of 2745 calories. You obviously had to weigh more than this since your BMR doesnt stay the same as you lose mass. You were either 500+ lbs or youre lying.

      I'm starting to think I have hypothyroidism.

      But I've been eating 1,700 calories a day (150g protein), lifting 4 days a week, and running and rucking, and I've lost 7 pounds since the beginning of March, down from 210.       Excercising wont help as much as counting calories and bearing with the hunger. You lose around 100 kcal per mile you walk/run. The speed does not matter. Your base calories for 24h are around 2k if you are an average guy. So if you walked like 1h you would get an extra 200-300 kcal. The real problem is food intake as like a frozen pizza has like 1k kcal and 0.5l of soda have 200-300. So unless you count calories and bear with the hunger of being quite a bit in the deficit you wont really lose stuff.

      people underestimate how much exercise is actually needed to outpace an obese diet and lose weight.

      someone who is already eating appropriately (maintenance calories, not gaining or losing weight) can go for a little jog every day and they will gradually lose fat as the months pass.

      someone who is eating excessively (like 3k cals or more) needs to entirely overcome that excess calorie intake if they're unwilling to reduce their consumption. you burn about 100 cals by running a mile, so they'd have to be going on a 10 mile run every single day (running, not walking!) just to halt their weight gain, let alone reduce it.

      like, that's the impact of getting one of those insane 600cal starbucks drinks every day. 1 heavy cream wet dream frappucino = daily 6 mile run just to break even

      No, go for it. People will try to talk to you about artificial sweeteners impacting your insulin sensitivity, but it's still a massive improvement over drinking hundreds of calories in sugar. Sparkling water is also good, especially after working out. Tastes like the nectar of the gods after you've gone for a run.

      Gum with sugar alcohol is also safe, but chewing too much of it will make you rip VIOLENT ass.

        i used to drink sparkling water as a staple thing daily when i was younger but then i switched over to normal plain water because i started having issues with acid reflux due to apparently both the water and some of the soda i was drinking too which had lots of acid in it. though, i recently found some form of coke they sell here called "royal cola" which weirdly enough, in the no sugar version, is way less fizzy than normal coke so i would just have that every once in a while but i wasn't sure if it would hamper me from trying to lose some weight or not. thanks.

      No. Learn to replace the dopamine signals from eating with ones from working out and recording your growth. You can still have a cheat meal 1-2 times a week, too, which makes it feel a bit more meaningful than shoving half a bag of honey dijon kettle chips down your throat without thinking. Also learn to enjoy high volume, low calorie foods.

      Personally, I have 8 chicken tenders from Chick-fil-a with either one of their lower calorie sauces or homemade sauce once a week. That's less than 1,000 calories for a lot of fricking food, about 1/3 of which is protein. 10 steamed gyoza is also a staple of my diet. Less than 500 calories for a big ass bowl of gyoza with a little bit of sauce, makes me full as frick.

      Just learn to eat smarter, is what I'm saying.
