Well it makes you wonder why those millions would even play a game not designed for them

I like it. It's probably the hardest turn-based RPG I've played since SMT Strange Journey.

Current twitter discourse is that dumping big buckets of bright yellow paint on ladders and barrels in the RE4 remake to indicate to the player they're interactable is rightfully deemed moronic.
Some nobody game developers then try to explain how it's actually important to do so because most gamers are moronic and they won't know how to progress the game if you don't dump bright yellow paint on things like ladders so the player knows they're climbable (this is true that many people are stupid enough to not know how to climb a ladder if it's not blatantly pointed out to the player, but others would rightfully say that it compromises the game's art design and treats the player like a toddler).
Cruelty Squad developer thinks the yellow paint is moronic and among other jokes on the subject created that mockup image in the OP to point out how stupid the yellow paint and babying of the player is.
Some other devs(?) and gamers who disagree get mad at the dev in response to this (bonus points for the people who don't know he's a game developer and chastise him as a 'foolish angry gamer' in their replies.

is there a way to see replies without a twitter account? because I want to see this now

Don't know. Some of them were in replies, some of them were in quote retweets, others were in reposts. I might make a collage then.

Oh, I thought it was a joke making fun of certain AAA games that can't handle ladders properly.

See, your problem - along with every other newhomosexual on Ganker - is that you, for some incomprehensible feat of homosexualry, care about twittertrannies and what they have to say.

Every day a quarter of the catalog is filled with shitter screencaps. Twittertrannies live in your head rent-free. You live and seethe by their word.

It pains me to tell you this, anon, but you should really consider killing yourself or at the very least go back to plebbit/israelitebook/instagram/twitter and stay there.

I agree with him and all yellow paint on a ladder and other shit is moronic but I think its funny how mad this guy is despite the fact that he made a game the looks like someone ate a 124 pack of crayons, mixed it with laxatives, and took pictures of the result to turn into textures like
            >"IS THAT A MISPLACED COLOR??? AHHHHHHHHHHH THIS WHOLE GAME IS SHIT AND UNPLAYABLE AHHHHHHHHHH IM GOING INSANE!!!!!"

              >but I think its funny how mad this guy is
His anger is justified, games are being made for people who are literally too fricking stupid to be considered sentient, it's fricking upsetting to know that 80% of the industry caters to people who are only barely capable of breathing and blinking simultaneously.

he's right to be angry that games are now being made for the biggest drooling moronic subhumans on the planet.

i really don't care about the yellow paint in particular but
            >if gamers have to look up a guide, you've failed as a game designer
is one of the dumbest things i've ever heard. plenty of game mechanics are abstracted and not conveyed directly to the player FOR A REASON. how fricking boring would a game be for it to explain literally everything you might need or want to know, where's the fun in exploring or theory crafting or discussing with others or figuring things out for yourself.

              >exploring or theory crafting or discussing with others or figuring things out for yourself
I think this ties into something I remember around the time GoW Ragnarok came out about modern AAA game devs wanting to make sure players under NO CIRCUMSTANCES miss something that the developers created or intended for the player to experience.
As a result you get everything told to you like you're a child and puzzles bombard you with hints 15 seconds into trying to solve them, etc. because for the player to unintentionally circumvent or discover something on their own they have bypassed the developer's 'intent', 'effort', or 'vision'. Nothing implemented can remain undiscovered.

The solution to this is that the first level/area/whatever has examples of every base mechanic to let players learn and use it.
The biggest no no is having ladders previously shown in the game and in places you can access but not let you climb them, then have a ladder that you can climb or should climb to progress. Nothing previously led a player to believe that ladders were functional and if your solution to that is to paint or give a prompt for that one ladder is bad game design.
It isn't demeaning to players to do that but just highlights shitty game design. Now if ladders were climbable up to that point and you paint it or give it a prompt to let players know than that is making a mockery of players
