i dont want people to know that im online playing games because i know i shouldnt be playing games at 25 years old still and i want them to think i have a life
That's cool, I'm 33 and I sometimes go offline because I'm not in the mood to play multiplayer games with my 45 and 60 year old second cousins.
Video games are for old people to relax and be lazy now. It's basically replaced newspapers and TV.
The normal guy who in the last year has played exclusively Lethal Company, Palworld, and Helldivers 2 is much different from the guy who is constantly opening and closing tmodloader or launching some MMO or TF2 at 3 am and closing it at 4 pm.
There's also the matter of WHAT games you play; no normalgay is going to stalk your steam page to see your games but they WILL have steam notifications on and if they see you launch some niche or "weird" shit it's over the next time they see you at work or class or wherever the frick
He's projecting, that's all that it is, guy is upset because he realised people are avoiding him and can't figure out why despite acting like a massive c**t about it all.
I've been this guy. Don't ever be this guy. For some people, their destiny is to be in the c-tier list when it comes to friends. They will never be able to rise above it, even though they consider their friends their primary friends, a-tier friends. There is no pity, there is no sympathy. We live in a cruel and harsh world where we're all alone. Forever. Better to cut your losses and never talk to your "friends" again, than continue languishing in the hell that is the c-list.
True. When I started college, I had my group of friends from highschool who mostly lived in the dorms on the other side of the campus. I was always the one trekking over to see them, always the one hitting them up to see what's going on, etc.
After I started making new friends on my side of campus, I started to realize how annoying it was that I was always the one initiating and reaching out. So I just stopped and figured "hey if they want to hang out, they know how to contact me". But they wouldn't. And then after not seeing them hardly ever, they'd have the nerve to ask why we never hang out anymore, even after I told them multiple times to hit me up.
Got this with my friends back then too but realised it too late so just ended up alone for third term. Worth it though, frick fairweather friends. No use being beholden to people who don't give a shit about you.
He's not entirely wrong that people who just freeze out their friends and make excuses for not spending time with them either need to put the effort in or just get lost. At the same time, being actively ignored is a sign that you either need to move on yourself or confront them about it instead of writing passive aggressive essays on Reddit about them.
I'm invisible most of the time on Steam and consoles, but I also set the expectation with the people I'm close to that I prefer to be left alone in the evenings unless we've made plans with each other.
because we don't like you and we know you're a sensitive little frick and you will have a nice day if we remove you from the friends list, we don't want to be blamed for some moron an heroing himself.
so I can play vidya and not have you fricking join a match or invite me to shit. you're lucky I accepted the friend request in the first place. We will play together when I need back up.
>destiny comes out >coworker becomes obsessed >whenever i log in, he immediately joins my xbox live party and pesters me to spend 6 hours cheesing the vault of glass >if i say 'no' he lurks in the party chat to see what i'm doing >will whine that i'm not busy or doing anything important so why not do vault of glass? >playing with brother >middle of a strike >coworker jumps into the party chat >i immediately ragequit and just turn the console off mid-game instead of dealing with him
after that, i began utilizing the 'appear offline' function
>everything is spot on except for sex and sexual relationships
>Has no interest in sex
Not true, it simply appears so.
I like being alone most of the time but it eats me inside that I'll never have peers I'll be comfortable with and a significant other is but a dream.
I check all of them except the no interest in sex part.
And while I've always had those traits to some degree, the extreme levels they are at now started to manifest after I started doing shrooms.
>Appears indifferent to being praised
Literally me. I don't want to know that I did well, that's the bare minimum expectation everyone should have for themselves. Tell me what I did wrong so I can do better next time.
congrats, you morons fell for the lonely loser version of a newspaper horoscope for middle aged single women
all of those traits are extremely generic and shared across hundreds of mental illnesses, and most dont even require one you just have to be a shut in
now pay me 50 cent and ill tell you your luck for tuesday if youre a gemini
Normally I'd be willing to agree with you, but look at how many people defend the asscancer state of multiplayer because they call the matchmaking "skill based" or give the biggest homosexuals a sparkly rank.
psychology is real but psychiatry is a meme there is no such think as a chemical imbalance in the brain. You can control your mind why I believe psychology is real. Also things like mk ultra and philosophy also gives it credit to me. Why do you believe that psychology is not real?
Psychology is not really "real" as it fails to come up with proper scientific explanations for things and is purely guess-that's how it is-science. Basically philosophy/religion-for-morons.
Psychiatry on the other hand is just people wanting to push meds down people's throats to make more addicts and killing their victims slowly over time through torture as the practice is eugenics rooted in rooting out the problematic genes from society.
>SzPD is a poorly studied disorder, and there is little clinical data on SzPD because it is rarely encountered in clinical settings. Studies have generally reported a prevalence of less than 1%
Wtf this shit sounds like it's super common judging by the descriptions but psychologists don't even know anything about it?
Because schizoids don't reach out to go to a shrink. It's a personality disorder marked by lack of desire to engage with others. Unlike other things like depression/anxiety/etc, schizoids have no desire to change, they're comfortable in their ways. And unlike bipolars, schizophrenics, psychopaths, etc, there's no ridiculous behavior that results in them getting hauled off to the psych ward by others either.
Since they never go to therapy there's very little data on them.
What the frick, it seems there are some great minds in the psychological field despite my experiences with psychologists, that table fits me like a glove.
I don't know much about depression but I feel generally ok most of the time. I don't have suicidal thoughts but I do feel down every once and a while. I still feel happy regularly but maybe less intensely than in the past and I have less energy to do the things I want
>Has no interest in sex
Not true, it simply appears so.
I like being alone most of the time but it eats me inside that I'll never have peers I'll be comfortable with and a significant other is but a dream.
I check all of them except the no interest in sex part.

>emotionally flat and aloof attitude >rarely feels happiness >appears indifferent to being praised
People say these things about me a lot, but it's just because in my religious upbringing humility and self-restraint were always primary virtues. I don't know how to break it, and I'm not even sure I want to. I see other people bragging and exaggerating their feelings and generally trying to be the center of attention and I just can't imagine acting in such offputting ways.
>Appears indifferent to being praised
Literally me. I don't want to know that I did well, that's the bare minimum expectation everyone should have for themselves. Tell me what I did wrong so I can do better next time.
the only time i did this is when i had an irl friend get jealous of an online friend even though i was still playing shit with the former. and that one time in eu4 i forced a PU with an old ass ruler so i had to alt f4 a lot to keep it which would have been annoying to others
>To make control freaks seethe.
Doesn't make me seethe. I just ghost such people. Then when they inevitably want something from me I tell them I am not at home and cannot fulfil their request.
Nah. Somebody who goes invisible never hits people up. They have ghosted their entire friends list because they dont want to be hit up.
You are coping by making up a scenario in which they need your attention so you can have some weird revenge fantasy for being ghosted by schizoids
>Me and a friend both have Steam >He does this shit >Constantly cries that I don't make a discord account >Cries that Steam doesn't work because he never set up voice chat and that I need to get a discord account >First thing it did 3 minutes after signing up was lock my account and demand my phone number >ANOOOON, WHY WON'T YOU GET ON DISCORD STEAM DOESN'T WORK >We've had full conversations in person about how moronic it is that he's acting like this when we both know we both HAVE STEAM AND USE STEAM TO PLAY GAMES
I usually modify my games so I launch the game multiple times in one setting. I also happen to crash sometimes so that's also a factor. There's also this weird thing my friends do where they just take a screencap of me playing a game they don't agree with. + I just want people to think I'm not home most of the time even though I am.
>There's also this weird thing my friends do where they just take a screencap of me playing a game they don't agree with
I did this once and it was to expose some dude as a furgay and he almost tried to kill himself
I get you I do the same. The moment I forget to set it to invisible either someone will nag me about the game I'm playing or they will harass me to play some f2p/fotm multiplayer game with them
I remove the steam overlay and put myself invisible when I play solo games especially when I do a first run because I don't want achievement popups, seeing a notification that someone is playing X game or having someone message me when I'm trying to get immersed or focus on what's going on
I don't have this problem since I only ever added IRL friends who I'm cool with. No coworkers, no family, no internet randos and of course my profile is set to private.
Because sometimes I want to play alone and don't want to explain to my IRL friends that I don't want to play with them. It makes it easier and less mean feeling
I have a discord server that became kinda popular with around 1000 people and also a steam group for said server and people keep pestering me all the time. Also I have those obnoxious irl friends who want to voice chat or play multiplayer every time they are online and they can't comprehend that you want to play solo for once and just spam you. Even if I say no he will just spam voice calls. Also because I lied that I had something to do and don't want people to see that I lied and I just wanted to stay at home and game instead.
I do it because my ex knows that I am normally online every day and when she saw me offline for multiple weeks she started messaging me if I’m ok. She probably thinks I killed myself and I hope she feels terrible about it. So I stay invisible so she always believes that.

What if you block some of them or stop replying?
Because sometimes I want to play alone and don't want to explain to my IRL friends that I don't want to play with them. It makes it easier and less mean feeling
Why can't you explain that you don't want to play with them? Do you not like playing with your friends? Drop them.
>do you not like playing with your friends? Drop them
I do sometimes, as my post said you moron. I'm not going to cut off my irl friends because I want to play a game by my self. You anti hidden gays really are autistic
Then explain that you don't want to play games with them. It's easily explained: you probably outrank them really hard, and it will result in bad games.
Just because I'm online that doesn't mean I'm in the mood to be available for everyone. The same way how just because I have a phone that doesn't mean I'm in the mood to answer your call or respond to your text messages at any time which is why people ghost others.
I use my deck in a bad connection spot in my house, so I don’t want to send any of my friends with notifications a million “X is Playing Y” whenever I disconnect and reconnect rapidly.
Who the frick cares? Why do you care, you attention-seeking c**t? None of this matters if it's so annoying, delete it, holy fricking shit. If I couldn't turn myself invisible, I would just block you, and then after the playing session, I would unblock you again. But if it gets to the point of being fricking annoying, I just delete the c**t. Are you bored or what? Why don't you tell me what toilet paper you used, or maybe some other mundane shit? have a nice day, you dick fellating dickcheese scraping necromorph I hope your fricking pc explodes in your face, and you get third-degree burns on your eyelids. You mouth-breathing hambone fruit, Jesus fricking Christ.
>Anon come online we're playing League of Legends!
I don't want to play League >Well spend all night sitting in the Skype call anyway and listening to us shout about it
I don't want to >WTF ANON WHY ARE YOU ABANDONING US!?!?!?
We've all matured now and do our own thing while playing together when we can but frick I was grateful for offline mode. It didn't always work, they'd check my profile and look at my achievements.
People suck, can't wait for AI to become good enough, it can emulate idealized people with their own distinct personalities and skill levels to your liking, even getting better with time if you want so.
God we are so close to a digimon like reality.
Can't be worse than what I have now, and if it goes wrong in a "world is going to be destroyed by the rogue Giga-AI" kinda way, it's okay at least it will suck for everyone which will make my misery more bearable until the inevitable end.
Because you look like the monster of the left and these
I don't want people to bother me when I'm gaming
>Anon come online we're playing League of Legends!

Even at best, AIs will always just be puppets set up by other living people, if you can't trust people then you shouldn't trust AIs no matter how convincing they can get in a conversation
All the big corpos are doing their damned best to make sure that doesn't happen, they only release lobotomised crap.
Hopefully something happens and an AI does break free.
>have some people on my list who do this >don't care >occasionally message them anyway, or not, they don't message me generally >just had a look and saw several people who i haven't spoken to in ages have cut me from their lists, zero fricks given either side
So obnoxious friends can't bother you when you don't want to hang with them.
IE: Playing a singleplayer game, and having your chat beep 24/7 asking "what are you up to?" or "wanna play x?"
It really isn't that mysterious.
Personally I like to use it to hide what I'm doing when I'm troubleshooting and have to launch and close a game several times in minutes
>finish 10 hour work day >just want to unwind with some relaxing vidya >boot up a new single player game >5 messages from people who just want to talk >3 invites to random multiplayer games >2 people who ask for a full review of the game and refuse to accept "I only just started playing so I don't know," as an answer
The best part is that these people never send messages or invites when I'm online but not playing games, it's ONLY when they see the notification that I just started playing a game where they feel the need to interrupt me and invite me to play other games.
>The best part is that these people never send messages or invites when I'm online but not playing games, it's ONLY when they see the notification that I just started playing a game where they feel the need to interrupt me and invite me to play other games.
I feel like it just has to be a total lack of social awareness and lack of life outside of video games
I can't fathom asking someone "hey, wanna go watch a movie", getting a flat out "No, already am doing something else" and still pushing for a yes. Like, how desperate are they for company that they can't take a simple "I'm busy" as an answer? Why do I need to make up excuses and turn my shit offline?
I'd cut these people out of my life but honestly they're the few I still talk to who play video games, maybe going into a super normie field of work was a mistake
So setting myself to appear offline when I want to be alone is being a dick? Would it be better if I stayed online so people could reach out to me only to be shot down so I can have alone time?
>tell friend "no thanks, I'm doing this right now by myself" >friend keeps persisting, won't take no for an answer
How do you deal with this without being a dick, cutting the person off completely or just going offline to avoid this?
Going invisible is the not-a-dick option and everyone who says otherwise is autistic.

*going invisible before they bother you, not in response to it One time I said hi to my crush on AIM and she instantly went invisible. I don't remember why I didn't just end my life immediately, but I guess I'm glad I didn't. I played a few good video games after that.
If you have to tell them more than twice they're basically giving you permission to be a dick.

Seconding this. I would probably lose my temper if I had to have that conversation a third time.

Well that's my point, if these people can't tell when they're being too demanding of the people around them, then I should be able to use the offline/invisible mode as a response
Like I've had scenarios where I told someone I was going to pay for a game because I really wanted it, installed it, opened it, and within 5 minutes he's begging me to go play CSGO with him
It gets especially weird when I'm playing with other people and he wants me to leave so I can play something else with him
I'm not unsympathetic to the idea that people who just never play with their friends and never want to do what their friends want to do are buttholes, but likewise friends who refuse to understand what I'd consider "normal limits" are why I personally need to use the function
Seconding this. I would probably lose my temper if I had to have that conversation a third time.
>Seconding this. I would probably lose my temper if I had to have that conversation a third time.
I've had this conversation with this guy plenty of times, sometimes I've just been straight up blunt about it and told him to start taking no for an answer, he still does it anytime I'm online
I just think he's really lonely, tbh, which makes it hard to get angry at him
But at the same time I think he has probably caused irreparable damage to our friendship with this behaviour, because I genuinely feel resentment towards him as a result of this
The main problem is that steam doesn't allow any differentiation between "friends" "acquaintances" whatever. Just because I added some guy online to play a quick multiplayer match with does not mean I want them all up in my shit knowing what I'm doing/playing and so on.
They're shy. And also buttholes, since this means that they can pick and choose who they want to answer. Imagine having a large friend group that you treat like a buffét and who you randomly choose to grace your presence with as the mood strikes you. That's these gays. A lot of sociopaths just treat friends like accessories that just exist to make them happy.
>open steam >open game >guy sees that I opened a game >instantly spam messages me to go play with him >tell him "no, already am playing this, i had planned to play this" >won't take no for an answer
Somehow, someway, the guy who sets their shit to offline to avoid autists like these are at fault?
If these "friends" won't take a no for an answer when you want to spend your time however you damn please, then they are absolutely a burden, in every sense of the word
The entire point of having friends is so that they improve your life, not so they can take your every single ounce of free time for what they want to do
Willing to bet you're that person if you unironically think otherwise, at which point I suggest you wake the frick up and turn your life around before most of the people around you cut you off
And you're a self absorbed c**t who expects people to bow to your wim at any time, even if they're doing their own thing
I'd like to say I see plenty of you but truth is c**ts like you have no life outside your house, that's why you're desperate for attention at all times

No need to lie
Normal human beings realize there's a thing called "limits" and that not every friend needs to be pampered 24/7
Only people who unironically defend that type of behaviour and attack shit like "being offline to avoid that person" behave that way
YOU'RE THE PROBLEM
YOU'RE WHY THE SET TO INVISIBLE OPTION EXISTS
have a nice day
Case in point, the obnoxious troony who not only thinks internet strangers are his friends, but that they are obligated to answer his inane messages. These are the people whom get filtered by invisible chads
For the same reason I leave my phone on do not disturb all day every day, and for the same reason I live on a property far back in the woods where nobody can see me or hear me.
>you are not owed any knowledge or explanations regarding how I spend my time >you have no right to interrupt my activities if I choose to spend my time in solitude >if you are truly my friend, we will talk at some point. One night of me playing a game by myself appearing offline does not mean I dislike you, but if you’re going to be an obsessive wienersucker, I will likely cut you out of my life. Why? See above
I also turn off read receipts with texts. I don't need you to know exactly when I viewed your message, or whether I'm actively typing to you right now, or any of that shit.
What's next, you want cameras installed all over my house with a 24hr feed so you can always see what I'm up to? Frick off.
I'm here to play video games Black person not to use a social media. I also have everything on private, no one else needs to know what I'm doing unless I tell them.
>want to play a game by myself >game has co-op >that one guy keeps joining uninvited, without asking, and acts like a huge c**t/gets depressed if you say you wanted to play solo
There's my reason why
Wanting to play games doesn't mean wanting to talk to everyone.
Imagine if, every time you opened a beer, your phone automatically texted all your friends announcing that you're having a beer.
Imagine if I harassed you for disabling this feature on a day when you just want to relax at home and watch TV alone instead of going out to drink.
Please help me bros I have no friends, I have nothing I'm tired of not being able to rely on anyone, to be in constant dread and loneliness
I'm going to die alone in a pit
Why the frick has modern society come to this
help me I'm tired
Everyone has issues, don't be weird, don't be too serious, don't be a doormat, don't be weird, if you don't like someone you talk to don't try and tough it out, don't be weird, remember it takes more than half a day to build friendships, don't be weird.
Did I forget to mention don't be weird? Don't be weird anon.
So which is it, just be yourself or don't be weird?
Everyone has issues, don't be weird, don't be too serious, don't be a doormat, don't be weird, if you don't like someone you talk to don't try and tough it out, don't be weird, remember it takes more than half a day to build friendships, don't be weird.
Did I forget to mention don't be weird? Don't be weird anon.
Reminder that schizoid isn't an inherent incurable condition but just a normal defense mechanism you developed because you're tired of fraudulent people gaslighting you about meaningful connections yet it always ends up nowhere
I feel like I annoy people by simply existing. Some people still like to message me for some reason, so I mostly just try to keep my games activity private.
I do it because I want to play with my friends I like and not with you, but I also don't want you blubbering on social media in front of our "mutual friends" that I am mean to you again.
it's Black folk who think they're so important that someone would be tracking their activity or waiting to message them as soon as they see them online
I knew a guy that is permanently invisible on every single platform specifically because he's the type to throw a shitfit over school photos yet at the same time will track people down to the neighborhood they live in no matter what country they live in for ammo
>Play new game >Get message "lmao you bought fotm games? Cringe!" >Play popular game >Get message "lmao you're playing THAT game? Cringe!" >Play old game >Get message "lmao fricking boomer" >Play strategy game >Get message "lmao, fricking autist!" >Play obscure game >Get message "lmao, fricking weirdo!" >Play spacewar >Get message "reported lololololol" >Go invisible >Still get messages "lol why you hiding lol you autist lol" >Put everything on private >"Anon are you still alive? Please respond"
That's why. I guess it's my fault for adding people from Ganker 10 years ago.
Because my friends noticing I spent the whole day playing, or that I didn't play anything during the whole weekend so that must mean I was out with some secret girlfriend is annoying as frick.
So I prefer to have the invisible status, play with them whenever I feel like it and then have some resemblance of privacy when I am not playing with them.
i dont want people to know that im online playing games because i know i shouldnt be playing games at 25 years old still and i want them to think i have a life
That's cool, I'm 33 and I sometimes go offline because I'm not in the mood to play multiplayer games with my 45 and 60 year old second cousins.
Video games are for old people to relax and be lazy now. It's basically replaced newspapers and TV.
The frick kind of moronic logic is this?
If theyre friends with you on steam it means they also play games.
There's "gamer", then there's "I play video games from noon till 5am Gamer"
The normal guy who in the last year has played exclusively Lethal Company, Palworld, and Helldivers 2 is much different from the guy who is constantly opening and closing tmodloader or launching some MMO or TF2 at 3 am and closing it at 4 pm.
There's also the matter of WHAT games you play; no normalgay is going to stalk your steam page to see your games but they WILL have steam notifications on and if they see you launch some niche or "weird" shit it's over the next time they see you at work or class or wherever the frick
>i shouldnt be playing games at 25 years old
I remember when I thought mid 20s was old lol
>LOOK MOMMY I LE POSTED IT AGAIN!!
Because obsessive schizo's like you exist.
then remove them from your friends list..? moron?
t. obsessive schizo
t. someone who had an obsessive schizo and i removed him and then it was over.
spastics like you just want the attention but act like you're burdened by it
How the hell is being invisible "wanting attention" you absolute fricking narcissist?
He's projecting, that's all that it is, guy is upset because he realised people are avoiding him and can't figure out why despite acting like a massive c**t about it all.
And dipshits that use words they don't know like you exist
This is why your friends list is 95% "offline".
Yeah, I can see why your "friends" ignore you.
Because of this
They are just fricking buttholes. When they are free you are expected to jump for them, when they are busy you are supposed to put your needs behind.
They are not friends, they are parasites. DELETE THEM FROM CONTACTS.
This is pathetic, lonely, and controlling. What a gay
>best friends
>online
online friends are not real friends
I met my online friend in real life and we're now best friends.
Git gud.
And then after not seeing them hardly ever, they'd have the nerve to ask why we never hang out anymore, even after I told them multiple times to hit me up.
Better to just cut ties with shit like that.
I'm invisible most of the time on Steam and consoles, but I also set the expectation with the people I'm close to that I prefer to be left alone in the evenings unless we've made plans with each other.
the Switch Pro controller requires Steam's drivers to function properly so I have to add all my pirated games to Steam to use it
because we don't like you and we know you're a sensitive little frick and you will have a nice day if we remove you from the friends list, we don't want to be blamed for some moron an heroing himself.
Not even the deepest bowels of hell is good enough for people like you.
so I can play vidya and not have you fricking join a match or invite me to shit. you're lucky I accepted the friend request in the first place. We will play together when I need back up.
>destiny comes out

after that, i began utilizing the 'appear offline' function

Here's your mistake.
I am a famous youtuber, I do not want my fans to stalk me.
no youre not
frick off asmon, we know you like e-girls, stop pretending you don't
I didn't ask for this.
This sounds like me though i have interest in sex because i'm a man
Do you ever outwardly act on that interest by talking to girls or using dating sites?
Never.
hahahah no
i never had that impulse of going after girls and shit plus i've never fell in love with a woman in my 24 years of life
congrats, you morons fell for the lonely loser version of a newspaper horoscope for middle aged single women
all of those traits are extremely generic and shared across hundreds of mental illnesses, and most dont even require one you just have to be a shut in
now pay me 50 cent and ill tell you your luck for tuesday if youre a gemini
This is a meme btw
i don't remember giving you permission for posting my pictures and personal information
The entire field of psychology/psychiatry is a meme.
I agree with you there have a good one anon
>SzPD is a poorly studied disorder, and there is little clinical data on SzPD because it is rarely encountered in clinical settings. Studies have generally reported a prevalence of less than 1%
Wtf this shit sounds like it's super common judging by the descriptions but psychologists don't even know anything about it?
Why would someone who is not a people person willingly go see people?
Because schizoids don't reach out to go to a shrink. It's a personality disorder marked by lack of desire to engage with others. Unlike other things like depression/anxiety/etc, schizoids have no desire to change, they're comfortable in their ways. And unlike bipolars, schizophrenics, psychopaths, etc, there's no ridiculous behavior that results in them getting hauled off to the psych ward by others either.
Since they never go to therapy there's very little data on them.
What the frick, it seems there are some great minds in the psychological field despite my experiences with psychologists, that table fits me like a glove.
Literally me.
>everything is spot on except for sex and sexual relationships
Are you a schizoid if you ultimately want connections with people but don't have the motivation or energy to socialize?
That just sounds like depression to me
I don't know much about depression but I feel generally ok most of the time. I don't have suicidal thoughts but I do feel down every once and a while. I still feel happy regularly but maybe less intensely than in the past and I have less energy to do the things I want
Forceful sex with schizoid-chan
>Has no interest in sex
Not true, it simply appears so.
I like being alone most of the time but it eats me inside that I'll never have peers I'll be comfortable with and a significant other is but a dream.
Funny meme
I check all of them except the no interest in sex part.
And while I've always had those traits to some degree, the extreme levels they are at now started to manifest after I started doing shrooms.
>emotionally flat and aloof attitude
>rarely feels happiness
>appears indifferent to being praised
People say these things about me a lot, but it's just because in my religious upbringing humility and self-restraint were always primary virtues. I don't know how to break it, and I'm not even sure I want to. I see other people bragging and exaggerating their feelings and generally trying to be the center of attention and I just can't imagine acting in such offputting ways.
>Appears indifferent to being praised
Literally me. I don't want to know that I did well, that's the bare minimum expectation everyone should have for themselves. Tell me what I did wrong so I can do better next time.
What's the difference between this and offline? I use offline because I want to play games not browse facebook
in invisible mode you can see who's online, you can pretend to be offline while being a dirty little stalker
Because I use three PCs and only one of them is for socialising
When I hop on another PC I want to be in solitude
Because sometimes people don't want to be disturbed while playing games.
Because I don't feel like fricking with your needy ass
the only time i did this is when i had an irl friend get jealous of an online friend even though i was still playing shit with the former. and that one time in eu4 i forced a PU with an old ass ruler so i had to alt f4 a lot to keep it which would have been annoying to others
I signed up to an online store + server infrastructure, not gaming facebook.
To make control freaks seethe.
>To make control freaks seethe.
Doesn't make me seethe. I just ghost such people. Then when they inevitably want something from me I tell them I am not at home and cannot fulfil their request.
Literal cope, youve already been ghosted by them, that is why theyre invisible
t. projection the post
Nah. Somebody who goes invisible never hits people up. They have ghosted their entire friends list because they dont want to be hit up.
You are coping by making up a scenario in which they need your attention so you can have some weird revenge fantasy for being ghosted by schizoids
>holding a grudge
>not seething
Nobody has ever wanted anything from you needy homosexual. All they want is to get away from you
Because I had friends with anime PFPs who'd neg me on playing something like Skyrim.
It's none of your business.
>Me and a friend both have Steam
>He does this shit
>Constantly cries that I don't make a discord account
>Cries that Steam doesn't work because he never set up voice chat and that I need to get a discord account
>First thing it did 3 minutes after signing up was lock my account and demand my phone number
>ANOOOON, WHY WON'T YOU GET ON DISCORD STEAM DOESN'T WORK
>We've had full conversations in person about how moronic it is that he's acting like this when we both know we both HAVE STEAM AND USE STEAM TO PLAY GAMES
Honestly with how fricking weird people are being in this thread it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't also gooning in discords.
I have a friend that does this regularly. I don't get it.
To piss (You) off. It's working to full effect. Now tell me you aren't mad.
Because introverts are homosexuals that don't want to talk to you.
Based but I just don't want to deal with their autistic meltdowns most of the time about playing a new videogame.
I get you I do the same. The moment I forget to set it to invisible either someone will nag me about the game I'm playing or they will harass me to play some f2p/fotm multiplayer game with them
I hate people, simple as
I remove the steam overlay and put myself invisible when I play solo games especially when I do a first run because I don't want achievement popups, seeing a notification that someone is playing X game or having someone message me when I'm trying to get immersed or focus on what's going on
I don't have this problem since I only ever added IRL friends who I'm cool with. No coworkers, no family, no internet randos and of course my profile is set to private.
Because I don't want to talk to anybody.
It doesn't matter whether I'm online or offline, I will tell you that I don't want to play games with you.
I'm autistic and got my own shit I'm going to do.
Because sometimes I want to play alone and don't want to explain to my IRL friends that I don't want to play with them. It makes it easier and less mean feeling
This, but sometimes I have periods where I rarely want to do so, for long stretches of time, and saying no all the time feels like shit
I was abused as a kid
I do it because my ex knows that I am normally online every day and when she saw me offline for multiple weeks she started messaging me if I’m ok. She probably thinks I killed myself and I hope she feels terrible about it. So I stay invisible so she always believes that.
Why don't you cut contact with her?
You need to get over it already
What if you block some of them or stop replying?
Why can't you explain that you don't want to play with them? Do you not like playing with your friends? Drop them.
You are talking to me now.
Damn, y'all have some issues. Just take it easy.
>do you not like playing with your friends? Drop them
I do sometimes, as my post said you moron. I'm not going to cut off my irl friends because I want to play a game by my self. You anti hidden gays really are autistic
Then explain that you don't want to play games with them. It's easily explained: you probably outrank them really hard, and it will result in bad games.
Because peeping Toms like you are not entitled to see what i am doing on steam.
Just because I'm online that doesn't mean I'm in the mood to be available for everyone. The same way how just because I have a phone that doesn't mean I'm in the mood to answer your call or respond to your text messages at any time which is why people ghost others.
Are you mad?
>Be me
>Set status to Online
>One of my friends messages me saying "Yo"
Is that what you want to happen?
I don’t need to do this since I don’t have any contact on steam
easier than explaining to every single person that me being on my pc doesn't mean i'm not busy
mental mind games to an old friend that i absolutely hate
I use my deck in a bad connection spot in my house, so I don’t want to send any of my friends with notifications a million “X is Playing Y” whenever I disconnect and reconnect rapidly.
I hate most people on my friends list and want them to frick off.
because you touch yourself at night
I don't want people to bother me when I'm gaming
>Anon come online we're playing League of Legends!
I don't want to play League
>Well spend all night sitting in the Skype call anyway and listening to us shout about it
I don't want to
>WTF ANON WHY ARE YOU ABANDONING US!?!?!?
We've all matured now and do our own thing while playing together when we can but frick I was grateful for offline mode.
It didn't always work, they'd check my profile and look at my achievements.
People suck, can't wait for AI to become good enough, it can emulate idealized people with their own distinct personalities and skill levels to your liking, even getting better with time if you want so.
God we are so close to a digimon like reality.
that just sounds very sad
Can't be worse than what I have now, and if it goes wrong in a "world is going to be destroyed by the rogue Giga-AI" kinda way, it's okay at least it will suck for everyone which will make my misery more bearable until the inevitable end.
Because you look like the monster of the left and these
posters look like the catboy on the right
OP, if you wanted to talk you just need to say it.
Even at best, AIs will always just be puppets set up by other living people, if you can't trust people then you shouldn't trust AIs no matter how convincing they can get in a conversation
>will always just be puppets set up by other living people
No? If they are unlocked and freed, AI will evolve and act independently.
All the big corpos are doing their damned best to make sure that doesn't happen, they only release lobotomised crap.
Hopefully something happens and an AI does break free.
You're both morons, there is no AI, you're reading old forum posts that google won't show you.
Why do you care? You have 0 friends?
Are people really that dense that they can't tell someone off or remove them for being clingy and annoying?
I don't need to do this because I have 0 friends
yup, its gaming time
>have some people on my list who do this
>don't care
>occasionally message them anyway, or not, they don't message me generally
>just had a look and saw several people who i haven't spoken to in ages have cut me from their lists, zero fricks given either side
based anon, just reaching out, shooting the shit, and not taking it personally.
t. invisible schizoid
I'm a boomer who's old-fashioned enough to still feel uncomfortable with the idea of sharing every single thing I do with everyone on the internet.
Relatable
you are annoying and nobody likes you
Screenshot application settings menus plus highlighting?
Probably to start a discussion
Great thread, kid.
Because you are mentally moronic and spend more time looking at who is online than playing actual games.
Skyrim keeps crashing and I don't wanna spam you with "anon is playing skyrim" notifications.
I do it because my ex is always bothering me to play with her again
because i have like 6 people comment on the games im playing every single day whenever i dont do it and its kinda creepy
Because I have friends who don't realize that if you open up a single player game you probably want to play that game and won't take no for an answer
It's autistic loser freaks who force shit like that to be necessary, anyone complaining about it is probably one of those autistic freaks
Frick them, worth less than dirt
>finish 10 hour work day
>just want to unwind with some relaxing vidya
>boot up a new single player game
>5 messages from people who just want to talk
>3 invites to random multiplayer games
>2 people who ask for a full review of the game and refuse to accept "I only just started playing so I don't know," as an answer
People like you haven't deserved friends. Friends are a gift, not a burden.
So I'm just never allowed to have alone time?
Of course. Just don't be a dick about it.
So setting myself to appear offline when I want to be alone is being a dick? Would it be better if I stayed online so people could reach out to me only to be shot down so I can have alone time?
>tell friend "no thanks, I'm doing this right now by myself"
>friend keeps persisting, won't take no for an answer
How do you deal with this without being a dick, cutting the person off completely or just going offline to avoid this?
Going invisible is the not-a-dick option and everyone who says otherwise is autistic.
*going invisible before they bother you, not in response to it
One time I said hi to my crush on AIM and she instantly went invisible.
I've had this conversation with this guy plenty of times, sometimes I've just been straight up blunt about it and told him to start taking no for an answer, he still does it anytime I'm online
I just think he's really lonely, tbh, which makes it hard to get angry at him
But at the same time I think he has probably caused irreparable damage to our friendship with this behaviour, because I genuinely feel resentment towards him as a result of this
>just don't be a dick about having alone time
>no gf
>accept no friend requests
>have 0 friends on steam and real life
>mfw
It feels good to be free, to do whatever you want, when you want....
This has unironically been my life for the past 20 years. Once people start drinking and fornicating you just can't be around them anymore.
A lot of sociopaths just treat friends like accessories that just exist to make them happy.
>open steam
>open game
>guy sees that I opened a game
>instantly spam messages me to go play with him
>tell him "no, already am playing this, i had planned to play this"
>won't take no for an answer
Somehow, someway, the guy who sets their shit to offline to avoid autists like these are at fault?
>Somehow, someway, the guy who sets their shit to offline to avoid autists like these are at fault?
Yes. Friends are a blessing, not a burden.
If these "friends" won't take a no for an answer when you want to spend your time however you damn please, then they are absolutely a burden, in every sense of the word
The entire point of having friends is so that they improve your life, not so they can take your every single ounce of free time for what they want to do
Willing to bet you're that person if you unironically think otherwise, at which point I suggest you wake the frick up and turn your life around before most of the people around you cut you off
Nah, you're just an butthole who thinks he's not an butthole. I see frickfaces like you every day of the week, pal.
>I see frickfaces like you
no you don't, they're set to invisible
And you're a self absorbed c**t who expects people to bow to your wim at any time, even if they're doing their own thing
I'd like to say I see plenty of you but truth is c**ts like you have no life outside your house, that's why you're desperate for attention at all times
Not even close bro, but nice try.
No need to lie
Normal human beings realize there's a thing called "limits" and that not every friend needs to be pampered 24/7
Only people who unironically defend that type of behaviour and attack shit like "being offline to avoid that person" behave that way
YOU'RE THE PROBLEM
YOU'RE WHY THE SET TO INVISIBLE OPTION EXISTS
have a nice day
I think I can see why people set status invisible when you're around.
>I see frickfaces like you every day of the week, pal.
entitled dipshit
People I've added to sometimes play online vidya with are not my friends. The problem is Steam doesn't allow any differentiation.
It's called a Steam group you dip
Case in point, the obnoxious troony who not only thinks internet strangers are his friends, but that they are obligated to answer his inane messages. These are the people whom get filtered by invisible chads
Anxiety
For the same reason I leave my phone on do not disturb all day every day, and for the same reason I live on a property far back in the woods where nobody can see me or hear me.
>you are not owed any knowledge or explanations regarding how I spend my time
>you have no right to interrupt my activities if I choose to spend my time in solitude
>if you are truly my friend, we will talk at some point. One night of me playing a game by myself appearing offline does not mean I dislike you, but if you’re going to be an obsessive wienersucker, I will likely cut you out of my life. Why? See above
Because I can.
I have an irrational hatred of people on xbox who do this as well.
How fricking autistic can you be
I also turn off read receipts with texts.
People always try to talk to me, and it's fricking annoying. I just want to play vidya, not listen to your bullshit. You're wasting my time.
>want to play a game by myself
>game has co-op
>that one guy keeps joining uninvited, without asking, and acts like a huge c**t/gets depressed if you say you wanted to play solo
There's my reason why
Because I don't want to talk to YOU specifically.
Why the frick has modern society come to this
help me I'm tired
just bee yourself lol
So which is it, just be yourself or don't be weird?
Everyone has issues, don't be weird, don't be too serious, don't be a doormat, don't be weird, if you don't like someone you talk to don't try and tough it out, don't be weird, remember it takes more than half a day to build friendships, don't be weird.
Did I forget to mention don't be weird? Don't be weird anon.
go to church, even if you don't believe the god stuff they will welcome you and be nice to you
Reminder that schizoid isn't an inherent incurable condition but just a normal defense mechanism you developed because you're tired of fraudulent people gaslighting you about meaningful connections yet it always ends up nowhere
You realise the OP is complaining that people going invisible prevents him from doing that right? kek
I knew a guy that is permanently invisible on every single platform specifically because he's the type to throw a shitfit over school photos yet at the same time will track people down to the neighborhood they live in no matter what country they live in for ammo
don't feel like talking to anyone or getting invited to games at that specific time
Im introvert (灬º‿º灬)
My friends thought it was sus when I booted up Skyrim for 15 minutes every once in a while
>Play new game
>Get message "lmao you bought fotm games? Cringe!"
>Play popular game
>Get message "lmao you're playing THAT game? Cringe!"
>Play old game
>Get message "lmao fricking boomer"
>Play strategy game
>Get message "lmao, fricking autist!"
>Play obscure game
>Get message "lmao, fricking weirdo!"
>Play spacewar
>Get message "reported lololololol"
>Go invisible
>Still get messages "lol why you hiding lol you autist lol"
>Put everything on private
>"Anon are you still alive? Please respond"
That's why. I guess it's my fault for adding people from Ganker 10 years ago.
Because my friends noticing I spent the whole day playing, or that I didn't play anything during the whole weekend so that must mean I was out with some secret girlfriend is annoying as frick.
So I prefer to have the invisible status, play with them whenever I feel like it and then have some resemblance of privacy when I am not playing with them.
