Why do people hate modern mmos so much? If you even bring up mmos in a room with regular gamers they laugh and call you an idiot for playing rote weeb shit.
Where did the general public hatred of mmos come from and do you think they will ever get over it?

They’re not fun and full of mentally ill homosexuals
>try playing game meant for cooperation and community
>everyone doing the same thing, but solo
>try to talk to people
>ignored
>if I'm not ignored I'm told to just look it up on youtube or follow some dudes quest guide
>uninstall
It's really that simple
because 99% of modern mmos are not designed around any kind of unique gameplay experience, they're designed to addict players and wring them for every cent they have
gacha games especially are a fricking disgrace that should never have been allowed to exist
You have some that break the mold like eve and the one that shall not be named because I will contract a severe case of chronic red eye.
yeah, i've played a lot of eve and enjoyed it. one of the few mmos left that i've played where the social aspect is still incredibly important just by the nature of the game, even though small gang/solo is my favorite playstyle
>spreadsheets the game
no thanks
as opposed to smacking the same goblin with the same sword with the same 3 abilities across 15 different games?
i'll gladly try something new and take some spreadsheets that occasionally make my heart feel like it's going to beat out of my chest
I miss Runescape c. 2000-2006
Zoomers irl and increasingly on Ganker are incapable of not getting a dopamine hit every 5 seconds.
Modern mmos are a mockery of the original concept, what once was a true open world, a true sense of community, and comfortably living fantasy adventures is now mindless grinding with a boring meta the devs have locked you into.
Even unironic weebs hate mmos now, not just "regular gamers" and ironic weebs.
What are modern MMOs? I stopped keeping up with games that have multiplayer 5 years ago
Wow, ffxiv, and osrs are the only ones people really play
How are those "modern"
I just get bored with them
>rote weeb shit.
rote shit period. japs didn't invent mmos. they've all been no better than work.
Modern MMOs regressed into single-player games with optional co-op at the end; at the same time, single-player games started integrating more and more online features.
What's the difference between WoW and Monster Hunter nowadays? The size of the lobby? The fake economy? The empty open world?
they fricking suck. there hasnt been any decent mmo since wow tbc
I don't like the focus on raids or dungeons.
When I first played RS years back its the interconnected parts of the world that impressed me. People mining coal or killing the cows and the people spamming their trades in the cities.
You can tell the original wow designers liked this too because there was lots of little things to make it feel like there was people doing shit.
Now you sit in a hub world with people not really there waiting to get into a not massive multiplayer experience, I can go play one of many 4p coop games like deeprock/l4d if I wanted that experience.
