gunplay, movement & controls, animation quality and hit feedback, level design, enemy and companion AI, stealth, etc

NTA but its a damn shame all that's wasted on a game with about as much character as a wet cardboard box.

last of us 2 has style and character in spades, actually that's one of the undeniable things about the game

There is no style, and the characters all suck.

its one of the rare games where it looks 1:1 like desolate concept art pieces and has extremely impressive environments- how many games do you know where the outside of a building and the inside are nor obfuscated from each other by trickery, invisible walls and loading screens? some of the rooms in TLOU2 are some of the most advanced level design ive ever seen in terms of actual believable spaces.

That's great, except its still just generic zombie post-apoc trash. Its a great execution of a trash premise.

It does look great, and if you're into generic post-apoc stuff then by all means enjoy. I think its grossly overdone and ND is wasting its talents on TLoU.

as opposed to what high and brave concept in any other videogame youve ever played? i like playing videogames, my favourites have no discernable plot at all. i like shooting zombies, i dont know what your fartsniffing opinion has to do with the quality a game can reach based on setting alone

It can still be shooting zombies, anon. Just make it more interesting or fun, for god's sake. I was just playing RE4 today, show me ANYTHING in TLoU as fricking great as blasting Saddler with an RPG and escaping an exploding island in a jet ski.

flanking a group of raiders and throwing an explosive tin can at ones legs and then swiftly headshotting the others from behind as they scream at the remaining half of their friend.
the haste in Ellie's animations, the dirt, the movement- its a well crafted, well executed frame of gameplay and if it was a standard level to level game like Halo or RE4 it would be my GOTYAY with those environments.
the problem is ND dont know how to fricking make videogames without farting cinematic appeal into them. i fricking WISH that TLOU2 was as straightforward as RE4

Well they said it themselves, they don't use the word 'fun'. So you get great gameplay in a very not-fun game. Frick that.

engaging is a better word to use than fun

it's a better word to describe gameplay in general.

Great but I'm not talking solely about gameplay here. I'm sure TLoU's gameplay is plenty engaging. But the game itself is not fun.

if someone could make an entirely different game around the engine of this game itd probably be on par with MGSV for me

this is the reason i deride ND so harshly. writing and plot aside the actual technical aspects leave me fuming when i boot up any RE game, even Re2make and the enemies just take infinite potshots and either fall down, play the same canned reaction animation or explode and fall down.
when a dev has such technical brilliance under his command and he says "we dont use the word fun" you want to throttle the c**t for being so pretentious. an RE game TLOU2 engine is one of those wank dream games everyone used to come up with when trying to mash together two game series. its like watching someone who can paint like Caravaggio draw exclusively burgers and fast food ads in a calarts style
In my opinion MGSV is much worse game. Its "open world" is literally pointless and if you remove Ground Zeroes and a few good missions, it turns out to be a very mediocre game with repetitive but fun gameplay. TLoU2 has much more coherent and variable content, especially if we talk about level design. I honestly think that MGSV should've been more like Ground Zeroes and TLoU2.
imagine, over 25 years of a series about stealth and high tier operators operating operationally etc. and the only urban environment you ever fight in is a generic wartorn middle east. the only INDOOR environments you ever engage in are arbitrarily placed prefab buildings in airports and military barracks.
for all the worldbuilding about elite teams and supposed experts in every field of combat you never actually do a single normal mission in any MGS game.
>great gameplay
Its pretty good >graphics
Yep some of the best >why do people hate this game
Because the narrative is probably as focused on just as much as the graphics and gameplay and most people thought the story was disappointing.
>ND studios > Neil runs out all the good writers for his SJW agenda > story is all the shit ideas he had from the first one nobody said would fit in a setting such as this > story gets leaked because devs were so utterly sick of his shit > “we don’t use the word fun” >Neil and Craig Mazin make HBO show > every character who is of moral standing is a POC > every crazy enemy is white. And only white >”we’re gonna trick everyone into watching a gay love story” > had absolutely nothing to do with the story, at all.
Neil blames everyone but himself for his short comings and people who support him are stupid as frick
Druckmann evidently didnt give a frick about it and wanted to be fellated over his magnum opus. he doesnt care about making videogames he wanted to publish a cinematic narrative in videogame form and ultimately probably just handwaved factions as unnecessary
Because the opening 3 hours are boring as frick.
It absolutely picks up after that point and turns into a fairly good game (story aside), but those first few hours are so goddamn boring it's more than enough to turn most people off.
>GTA style shooting >brain dead AI
just saying anything at this point. cant even just plainly say the majority of it is shit like a normal person. the AI isnt even nearly a mark against the game and nor is the shooting. theyre passable and adequate. you point at shoot at them and they hide, flank and talk to each other, i genuinely cant fathom why youd need to be such a passive, dismissive c**t about it. >pfft yeah nice gameplay, what next, i gotta press a button to open a door
fully aware how autistic i sound about an innocuous post but you sound like a fricking tiresome moron
it's cool game, most people like it.
the ones who don't are people who haven't even played it and want to sound cool on internet
I played it. It's like a less cool MGSV. Just play that game instead.
you mean it's MGSV with actual game design instead of sandbox nonsense
>actual game design
It was made by people who hated having to make a game.
weird how people who supposedly hated having to make a game made such a mechanically refined tps, leaving recent resident evils in the dust

Nah, I played the original on release and loved it but wasn’t happy with the direction they took the story with the sequel.
a better game hasnt been released since
they turned the e-girl we wanted to frick into a fricking lesbo
>he doesnt want to frick her straight
literally gay
They already did that in Left Behind.
Hey look another bait thread, I wonder when the pedos and coomers make up the real fanbase are going to come in and rectify this mistake?
>what more do you need?
For it to not be so far up its own ass. TLoU is garbage, Naughty Dog games all suck.
It's a bog standard third person shooter. The game play is just passable, nothing special, let along novel.
It's a stealth game not a shooter
>it has great gameplay.
Ha ha ha haha ha ha ha ha… no!
Its not on PC so most of this board hates it for that sole purpose
When's it coming to PC? I actually somewhat enjoyed Part 1.

Just release factions 1 again frick hole
Honestly, what the hell happened?
Druckmann evidently didnt give a frick about it and wanted to be fellated over his magnum opus. he doesnt care about making videogames he wanted to publish a cinematic narrative in videogame form and ultimately probably just handwaved factions as unnecessary
Because its shit
I don't like homosexualry
There is no gameplay.
>Ellie lesbian in the dlc and subsequent game
>Aloy lesbian in the dlc
Why does Sony do this?
>game
They tried to add grey morality even tho the rival mc is batshit insane and a schizo murderer.
Because the opening 3 hours are boring as frick.
It absolutely picks up after that point and turns into a fairly good game (story aside), but those first few hours are so goddamn boring it's more than enough to turn most people off.
Only incels hate this game.
>
I prefer games that aren't 90% cut scenes and all you do is walk to them and maybe shoot a couple of things on the way
uncharted and tlou are games for imbeciles
>games
great gameplay and graphics don't make up for its shit writing.
Boring artstyle.
Boring gameplay.
Too much dialogue/cutscenes/force walk.
Story's moronic.
Woke shit.
No replay value.
Literally a 0/10.
>Woke shit.
not a valid criticism, subjective to your own intolerance
>Boring artstyle
>Urban exploration is a boring aesthetic
midwit. frick off.
Friendly reminder that snoys are the only morons that think it's ok for games not to be fun
I just wanted more daughter/father zombie adventures but instead it got turned into some shitty gore porn teen drama.
>what more do you need?
pc port, it looked like and ran like shit on my ps4
>walking and/or talking 60% of the game
>gta style shooting with brain dead AI combat
Yeah, nice gameplay.

They should have had Abby as the main campaign and then have Ellie as an unlockable campaign afterwards.
Literally AMC's The Walking Dead. It also becomes literally Telltale's The Walking Dead with the Dungeon filter.
I think their problem was the story.
