Is it? Just started playing, BLM and PLD. I'm only level 45 and 30, but PLD already bores me to tears with it's constant 1-2-3 combo while popping cooldowns when I can.
Eventually you get holy spirit and requiscat, then you shift between magic and physical phases. It still boils down a predetermined ideal dps rotation against bosses that don't respond in any way to your attacks, but you get more than 3 buttons.
I'll stick with it for now. And BLM is already fun, I like the MP management, and getting new tools to sling spells better. Red pill me on NIN though.
NIN is super bursty. Basically you press everything you have for 20 seconds every minute, and then have 40 seconds where you do frickall.
BLM will at the very least keep you engaged, but every single new spell you get changes your rotation completely.

Yeah but that's the other problem for redmage, the majority of them in dungeons are just too low on the dps, blm beats redmage but needs to be positioned correctly to bring the heat. Just give me a melee and a non-magical ranged dps for a dungeon run and it's good.

i dont know ive been playing on and off since HW and, some jobs even the piss easy ones like MCH I feel like i need to constantly be watching something. Kinda wish they'd prune the shit out of every job and make em all 12-18 buttons instead of 30. Doesn't even feel like most of the jobs actually get anything out of all the skills they have, just feels like shit bloat. Back in HW / Stormblood the abilities all felt like they were unique so the complexity felt validated.
Most jobs I play feel awfully bloated, bunch of pointless buttons you press once every 30 seconds or every minute that don't connect to the rest of your rotation at all. Only BLM feels like almost every button has a distinct purpose and use, to me anyway.

Also, ffxiv’s environments are actually getting worse in every expansion. Doma was the last decent looking zone, and that was in 2017. Thavnair is probably the most half assed, empty, ugly as sin zone made in any game in over a decade.
I have to agree, although they are far bigger labyrinthos for example, there isn't much to see or do much of it is repeated landscape.
What I hate are the lack of small huts or npcs outside of the assigned aetheryte safe zone. It just doesn't feel like a lived in area where all the npcs/ quest givers are only at the assigned area and the rest of the landmass are just mobs.
The areas have potential and are getting better, but it needs a bit more thought into how to make the areas lived in, or more believable and less gamefied.

I think they look decent considering the age of the engine, but hopefully we'll see vast improvements in the graphics overhaul. They aren't just replacing textures; they're adding polygons and clutter (props) to make the environments feel more lived-in.
I think the bigger problem is how little incentive there is for the player to interact with the environment. You will always run from and avoid enemies in the overworld because they give almost no XP. Fighting them is a waste of time. In addition, having exactly 6 big square areas per expansion makes it feel formulaic when you look at the varied layouts of the ARR maps. I think the ARR maps had better enemy placement too. Stumbling upon a camp of bandits and having to run away was one of my first memories when I started playing the game, and it's one that has stuck with me.

Updating FATEs to be something beyond boring grinding for tokens would be neat, taking some lessons from Eureka/Bozja and making them slightly more organic in the world proper sounds like a good idea. Registered teams and semi-competitive FATE grinding sounds like something better suited to a new Eureka/Bozja zone though. The idea of semi-competitive non-instanced PvE is interesting and not sometime that is really featured in any MMO I've played recently. Makes me think of killing MVP world bosses in RO and needing to outperform/outdamage other parties trying to get the kill in order to be able to take the loot.

The only possible way to make healers fun and still fit their FF motif is to make them buffers/debuffers as well as healers instead of making their damage matter but I feel thats too complicated for the current balancing team so I have no idea how they can fix it
They could at least give them more dps skills similar to SB SCH.
By making healers and certain DPS classes offer actual support options that aren't just just more damage for 30 seconds. Make healers provide a huge amount of buffs/debuffs instead of spending all their downtime DPSing. But that will never happen with the current way they design combat encounters.

The ARR relic one is one of my favorites, but the ARR relic quest is notoriously long and tedious. I have only one of them and it took me somewhere from 25-30 hours to complete it. I probably could have cut it down a bit if I'd used the plugin someone made that helps you farm only the dungeons that give the most light.
I farmed two one before flying was added and one after flying was added. I genuinely think now that you can fly in ARR zones it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. The lights are fricking god awful I won't lie same with the books... I don't know that i'd ever go for a third unless I use the plugin you mentioned.

Raiders with addons will outperform and outpace you. Crafters will make more money then you. PvP has been nothing but wintrade gays and cheaters forever, so nothing changes here I guess. All aspects of the game, you are at a disadvantage unless you use addons.

Maybe that'll end up with the worlds oddly linked together, though it seems unlikely that 7.0 will focus on Void/13th stuff, especially given how lackluster it has been during the EW post-MSQ, only Garlemald politics has been more boring (because we don't have any Gaius and not nearly enough Nero and Cid)

Retail has trusts and you will very likely solo the entire story yourself because the only people still playing have been playing for the better part of 20 years and are just grinding job mastery and ultimate weapons for the sake of grinding.
