Why do people lump the 90s with the 80s when it comes to culture including video games?
They are two completely different decades in technology, aesthetics, and the whole vibe just like every recent decade is to each other, right?

i dont ever see this. no one gives a FR*CK about the 80s
>fake 90s nostalgia whose whole vibe and aesthetic is in fact of the 80s
I find this really the case online though, especially on a place like youtube or reddit.
psh
probably just 80s bleedover into early 90s
Just think, the longer time goes on the more people there will be who don't even remember living through the 80s and 90s. Kids today and future kids will only understand the culture of those eras through media from those eras or media referencing those eras and eventually it will all just bleed together.

This.
90% of the board are post halo kids, why would you assume they can differentiate if something was 10 years or 20 years before they remember pressing their first "ON" switch?

neat, crazy that he would semi-dox himself just to prove it
>didn't fully troon out
Impressive, with the shit he probably got in school for the name
The difference is that for the first time in history you can have an immersive media experience recorded and perfectly preserved in a past era. Imagine watching all the contemporary HD/4K and VR footage in two hundred years.

There's your answer you frickwit
1993, maybe 1994, is when the 80's ended.
Right, decades don't end culturally on the 0 mark. There is a bleedover until some new technology, event, or just general mood changes it. 60s as we know it wasn't so in the Kennedy years and often gets cited as ending in 1973
80s lasted to 92-94, 90s lasted until either 9/11 or 2003/2004. I'd say the 2000s lasted until 2014 ushered in the activist decade which if we're lucky will end in 2024.
Same as it ever was. Think how Renaissance people conceived of classical antiquity they venerated with their own unique perspective/rehashing style of it.
>Why do people lump the 90s with the 80s
Nobody does that schizo
That image looks 90s to me. Even the character design. The 90s wasn't all Ibari.
>that image looks 90s to me. Even the character design
The very early 90s at best, imo.
The 90s has a huge gap internally, between the early part and the rest.
People somehow remember the whole decade with the strong image of the early 90s, which is actually the tail of the 80s I think.
This is from the mid-late 90s but I find it closer to stuff from the following decades than those from the early part of the same decade.
That's still fairly cherrypicked, anon.
Top right looks like Ooyari Ashito. What is it from
Did Moe's frickup lose the thread where that guy said something like "Thanks, Mom" as a reply to that image? Was pretty funny.
I've seen people say that Street Fighter 2 is an 80s game.
Literally nobody fricking does that.
>THE DOOM DOOM
the 33 year old doom doomer
zoomies don't have a culture so they lump everything that came before it into one and say it's the same bad thing because the future is onions
thanks dad
1984 is when the first arcade games anyone cares about starting coming out.
1988 or so is NES/master system
1992 or so is snes/g enesis
1996 or so is ps1/n64
and just a smidge past the 90s or so is ps2+
So part of 80s and 90s is a a chapter defined by harry linear arcade style games, birth & maturation of jrpg, and birth & maturation of console style nonlinearity such as zelda, metroid, mario 64, gta.
On the PC chapter it also kind of is the chapter of when gaming was for nerds and the normies didn't pc game.
And its also basically the entire arcade area.
zoomers arent people
Most 80's gamers grew up during the 90's
>why can't todays youngsters differentiate between 34-44 years ago and 24-35 years ago
same reason why I had a playstation while kids my age were getting PS2s and even 360s
same reason that I had a 360 when everyone else was playing Xbone and PS4. Same reason I had a PS4 while everyone was buying PS5's (ok that's far fetched but you know what I mean).
When I was a teen I was shocked to learn that the PS4 came out in 2013.
The 2010s will be remembered as a very dark era of cringe and soullessness
lol
Try to picture a person who represents that decade, you will CRINGE
this is true for all decades thoughever
Nope
And the 2020s, and forever onward. The world will be soulless trash until the great reset.
>the great reset.
>chosen, living among people that barely tolerate them anyway, think they can make thing work out well for themselves by importing tons of thirdis who openly hate the chosen
nice plan there
Vidya died in 2010
BlueTheb***h is trash. c**t need a real artstyle, not just tracing Takahashi
Is Prince of Persia more 80s or 90s?
I LOVE MAIDS SO MUCH
>Why do people lump the 90s with the 80s when it comes to culture including video games?
Do they? Maybe you should stop talking to zoomers on discord.
