This is the pivotal point when the writer didn't know what to do with Majima AT ALL after this game released, either keep making him like a sadistic joker boss that kicks a lot of ass or heartbroken badass that models himself after a mentor who was batshit nuts. Ever since this game, writer kept flipflopping whether to put him as a joke character or serious yakuza man. For that, I'm not fond of this particular one, coincidentally this is the one that brought a lot of goddamn tourists, eventually attracting attention of e-celeb like yongyeacuck.

Why do people hate 3? I remember it being loved when it came out. I was going to make that my first Yazuka game even though I've played a bit of Shenmue.
It's not a bad game but the others are better than it in different ways. Most people here don't like it because they're bad at the combat and can't mash at enemies to win. Just start with 0 or the original 1.

In a series full of stupid plot twists 3 has one of the stupidest.
Much like Trails Of fans, the series is pure garbage. Zero took some of the best minigames/plot points and recycled them into an improved game (doesn't get good until Chapter 10).
Those of us that played Dead Souls and western Ishin are bitter that we've had to swallow all this trash, while others enjoy gold like Yakuza 8...until the later half of Chapter 7.
It's not that they don't like it. It's simply more fun to hate on popular / good things just to see people getting upset. Something you see happen on here every day

I think the beach with the kids is peak comfy, but the city is also very nice and a change of peace compared to the others I played only K1 and K2 for now

I taught myself to manually turn around then turn back and komaki parry or tiger drop because showing your back to a y3 enemy turns their attack ai on
It's kinda interesting I guess but it's pretty easy to see why people hate it
For me I baited their attack by punching at them knowing they'll guard, they tend to attack right after they're done with guarding your combo.
While Y3 has its issues, opening their super tight guard with parry and punishing them by bounding the frick out of them is super satisfying, and it felt way better than anything you could pull off in Y0
0 is so much better than 3, 4, or 5 that it's unreal. People can actually sit through saejimas sisters death scene and not realize 4 is shit

Just couldn't stand it. too much dialogue, barely any gameplay. didn't even bother to voice act japanese most of the lines. Never bothered to give a shot to that property feature either.
2, 4, 5 and 6 are better. Much better.

Because it completely retcons Majima's past and characterisation in a way that stretches disbelief when contrasted with how he is in later games, especially when 4 already provided a reasonable explanation for why he is the way he is.
Y0 has the slow as frick intro even by Yakuza standard
Having to get introduced to 3 different fight styles are already bad enough, but just when you thought you were done with the long-ass tutorial playing Kiryu, you get sent to Majima to do the same shit.
Even long as frick Y5 that has forced mini-game tutorial moves on to the next chapter when you're done with the character instead of going back and fourth
