Each DPad design gives some kind of difficulty level to the games. But sometimes I keep using the analog even in games from older consoles, a matter of muscle memory.
Razer makes a controller with clicky buttons and dpad. I guess it's more expensive to do so not many controllers and no first party controllers do that.
So how come most people don't seem to realize that a lot of controllers have a frickton of different internal variations?
Genesis dpads exists as regular and reversed (where the contacts are on the back of the PCB) and the DualShock 2 has like a dozen different variants from three different manufacturers with wildly different designs

Because it's irrelevant. There isn't a single good video game on the planet that requires frequent use of the d-pad.

The PS Vita still has hands down the best D-pad I've ever used. I play harvest moon on it when I'm traveling and the D-pad pleases my autism.
Only clicky dpads are worth anything.

Why would you want all your directions to be connected? The Switch has it 100% correct with separate directional buttons.
