That's not really true, anon. Years of seeing anons talk about visual novels, vidya and anime should be more than enough evidence that it's primarily sex driven too. The difference, if any, seems to be in the type of stuff they want to fix in these people. Broadly speaking it's kinda like,

IE women are generally attracted to abusive/bad boy types because they happen to exhibit traits that are generally attractive to women, not because of some moronic built in masochism. Likewise men are drawn towards "broken" women like you see as villains pretty often because it appeals to a lot of feminine traits in the same vein, not that men are specifically attracted to batshit insane or useless women.

I don't agree with how the other anon is trying to frame it as some innate nobility or as if it's unique to men when it's just another form of horny, but yeah. It seems to be the case that both men and women are constantly dragged around by their reproductive desires in all walks of life, with very clear differences between the two genders on average.
