Why do so many people still complain over hard games, even on emulation? You literally have access to save states and cheats for free, with the internet on your side to find an infinite number of individual cheats for individual games that you can turn on and off whenever you need to. A game's difficulty at that point is entirely modular, b***hing about muh difficulty is stupid. This can also work in reverse, though that's a lot harder since you'd have to create your own codes to specifically lower things like max HP or maybe limiting EXP earned in an RPG or something.

It's decently challenging on Lunatic. On Normal and even Hard they're pretty easy compared to other shmups.

I'm not complaining, I'm just making the statement
    >This game is hard because I suck at video games
I try not to use save states and cheats because I want to do it on my own.

these "people" are barely even alive
dont waste your time or breath on them
they will never understand, and often refuse to

you cannot force someone who is incapable of understanding, anymore than you can force your dog to listen music

If you need save states and cheats to beat a game, then you either have no business playing it or the game's design sucks from the getgo.

Retro games were mostly hard just due to unforgiving mechanics and a high degree of trial and error, most of which was just to pad out a short game to dozens of hours.

Retro games with the assistance of emulation are not really that hard, outside of like deathless challenge runs or brutally hard arcade shmups.

Shit like just beating Contra or Castlevania is peanuts with emulation, even if you only use those features for practice, and then beat it without any handicaps.

That pattern isn't even hard, it's just some simple micrododging and those amulets have very small hitboxes. Touhou in general is quite easy as far as Japanese danmaku games are concerned and is thought to be hard in the west only because it's the only series from that genre that amassed any sort of mass popularity here, even though it's limited to internet weebs.

Batsugun; DonPachi. Rather than having to rote learn these games with savestates like a musical partition, it is possible to play and even master through practice, observation and intelligent memorization (a skillset which is useful for harder shmups since there are less about superhuman dodging than in fact planning, manipulating enemy behavior and accuracy in movement). And then maybe DoDonPachi.

it is not cheating; every way of training is valid. However this method i a sort of form of torture and worse, it doesn't address the uncomfortable truth that each of these game were 1CCed in the arcades within months (or less) after they've been issued (with no possibility to play them on emulation); which indicate that Japanese players found more sensible methods of dealing with these games (they had to pay every credit ...). How did they do? It is a real question.

i never said it was cheating, i said i dont give a shit about those runs, they're boring and have no merit

You already know the answer. He is just a shitter who thinks that anyone who uses autofire or save state practice or watches a replay can just instantly know what to do and copy it no sweat. It's just his cope to defend his shit play, he may be fricking garbage at games, b-but at least he's doing it the real way!!
