back in HW we had SCH for people who wanted to heal and do a damage rotation and WHM/AST for people who just wanted to brain off. but we can't have jobs with different playstyles so SCH had to be gutted.

You needed an IQ above 80 to play AST in SB, that's why so many people cried about huur balance fishing. Anyone with a modicum of skill could play around the rng and only very rarely get fricked over so that when it happened you just said frick it and moved on. Extended timers on your buffs was the best shit, clearing Chaos on noct ast and keeping heavy hots up 50% uptime was kino.

You know the TTS shit some people use to tell them what to do on mechanics? That's ACT custom triggers
Which you have to go all out of your way to make. This would stop being a problem if the game could output logs by itself removing ACT from the equation. You can't just have tight DPS checks and no DPS visibility at the same time. Especially with 19 minute long fights.
If you don't know how to do your rotation, what the frick are you doing in Ultimate? Once you've learned how to do it, you don't need to look at some DPS meter to know you're doing it right, you'll just know.
If you're playing with a static, you'll get to know the players and you will also notice and know if the players are good.
If you're playing in PF, then I suppose it can be good to know if your teammates know how to play, but even then, it's not like you're able to teach them while they're in your group. And I'd like to see the PF TOP group that makes it into P6 but keeps failing the DPS check because someone doesn't know how to play their job. It simply doesn't happen, because those groups already fail in P1 with people probably making mechanical errors as well.
Your DPS meter isn't going to magically make them play better, and you telling them they're failing isn't either. They already know that without you telling them.
You just want to feel good that you know who's to blame for the wipe, when that information is fricking useless in PF, and in a static you should have mutual trust and those people should discuss their mistakes
tl:dr ACT is only good for bumping your ego and for blind/world 1st prog where it's an invaluable tool for solving mechanics, but also arguably cheating

You don't need ACT to make a timeline. You can simply record yourself doing the fight and look at the video for ability timestamps using the instance timer. That's how I do it when I blind prog Savage

This is what I do. I get a better idea of how things line up using a video playback. Also act doesn't play nicely on Linux unless I do some weird shit and I'm too lazy to set up wincap or whatever it is.
I've done TOP on PF without AM because someone forgot to turn it on. You can just yolo Sigma and mark monitors in Omega and get away with it. In a coordinated environment you absolutely don't need AM. I did the marking in my group.
My group of casual working lads got top 10 EU and top 25 EU for DSU/TOP without any cheating or tools, just banter and white male cishet supremacy.

Variants are actually ok for the first time, because the puzzles for routes are pretty good. Grinding them for the currency is fricking mindnumbing and awful though.
People complain about the lack of rewards, especially from Savage Criterion, but the real issue is that normal and Savage criterion is the same fricking content. Just make normal Criterion into DF content with Alliance raid tier difficulty, and make the current normal criterion into Savage. It makes no sense for both of the difficulties to cater to the same audience, the Savage raiders, when that crowd is mainly interested in fighting new bosses. Savage doesn't actually provide anything for anyone, because the target audience is already served in normal Criterion

We never see Thancred's relationship with OG Minfilia, it is entirely told to you starting from post-HW when he first mentions having some sort of relationship with her to Krile. Literally no point in the game prior to that point is there even a hint that they have any personal closeness besides both being Scions. From that point forward everything about Thancred and his relationship with Minfilia is 100% told instead of shown. This is bad writing. You don't see their relationship ever, you don't see them caring about one another, you just get him constantly telling you how much he loved her starting from post-HW.
Please consume actual fiction to understand how relationships betwene characters should be written. One character just suddenly halfway through the plot telling you "oh yeah that other character? Yeah we have a thing" is garbage, unvoncing writing.

On the AST's end nothing has changed, on the card receiver's end you're getting a damage-up of varying potency instead of a speed-up or crit-up or defense-up (useless if you're not a tank in a dungeon) or TP-up (useless 99.99% of the time) or an MP regen-up (useless if you're not a RDM that's been busy chain-reviving or a healer, including the AST casting it on himself)

There isn't a single good character in the game to begin with. Zero is just shitter then the rest.
Because making it more fun to play means making you have to focus on healing more which makes it harder which causes more wipes which creates seething anger from both healers that don't care and want easy mode and also non-healers who get fed up by lazy healer wipes.

They tell you what rule you violated, the only one that is nebulous is the "compelling playstyle" one or the "harassment" one, but when you're banned for saying shit or frick they'll tell you that outright.

It's been like that since the PVP change anon, it's nothing new. They don't balance for frontlines so they don't really care that DRK is ridiculous and premades (they also cheat but that's another topic) can faceroll games at will.
Nah, this patch is especially premade centric. Compared to previous patches where damage was either insane (like the beginning with bahamut spam) or people where invulnerable we live in this limbo zone where people are mostly tanky, enough to shrug of uncoordinated attacks but flimsy enough to where zero BH having premade groups can slaughter groups effortlessly.
I forgot to add the biggest buff to premades is nu-shatter I’ve peeped revival and some Black person posted his 15-0 record for the week. Nu-shatter is insanely stacked for premade groups.
No anon it's literally been this way from the start, they've always been there and they've always been using DRK, nothing has changed. You are probably seeing them more often because you are doing pvp more often for tomes.

Remember when Pande savage first came out? I spent the first day crafting and melding for people and by day 2 I was required to watch a youtube guide just to join a pug.
The way savage is now might have worked in the past with babby mode Vanilla WoW tier Heavensward Savages or Coils in ARR when 15% of the playerbase actually did that shit but the numbers are so low enough that calling Savage endgame nowadays is almost comical.
It's 5% of the playerbase at best now and shit's gotten multitudes harder from SB and up compared to the old stuff.
Just copy paste the fricking savage, slap some aoe markers on it, make instant death mechanics deal damage and apply the world's biggest damage down, and dole out 1 savage book per floor per week and call it a day. Think about it, Endwalker literally has NOTHING to do in it and 95% of the playerbase would rather frick off and unsub than do savage. If we get another maintenance expansion like Endwalker again the playerbase is going to dip back to SB levels at this rate.
Does anyone know of side saddle or side saddle-esque styled mounts for lalafell? My only real current option is to get the archon chair since I can't really find shit elsewhere, even if said chair isn't side saddle or anything.

Trust me, find something else to do or go play other games. Farming hunt mounts is a miserable experience especially this late into the expansion.

I have more qualms about battle high instead of specific jobs. Almost any job can do well in frontlines while some do stand above others in cc/aoe damage. But BH just adds onto the snowball effect where they become even more difficult to kill unless you pray for a miracle.
Battlehigh is a great mechanic because it forces you to balance fighting and objectives instead of being the team that says let them fight like a bunch of pussies.
If there was a pure team deathmatch mode I could see that, but it's just king of the hill so the goal really should be holding the nodes. Shatter is just pseudo pve.
