I've only had one bad experience buying from Japan. Some guy on eBay wouldn't ship the item and kept saying the shipping deadline was later and later in the month. Two weeks go by and he doesn't ship it so I ended up demanding a refund and leaving legitimate feedback on my experience. Before I left it I saw someone else had a similar issue and then a few days after I left my neg for him he gets mine and the other negative feedback removed. Scumbag.
Every other time was great. They always give you free shit. One time I ordered a keychain and got something related that I never knew existed. Another time I got a bag of green tea.
