Regional forms exist because gamefreak is now too lazy to design 75+ new pokemon that feel like they fit each region. No matter how often we say that they are ugly they won't go away.

I used garchomp in almost all of my casual playthroughs of gen 4.
Some people like certain Pokemon because they look cool. I don't play the Pokemon games, so strength is not part of the equation.
