I don't like the rabbids but M&R Kingdom Battle is a good game, sequel seems promising so far.
Did you even play the first game or are you hating it simply to please Reddit?
>Bad guys want the notlumas because they contian the energy of the universe itself (Like Galaxy)
The lore
I mean, it fits with Mario lore, Lumas are a grossly underutilized concept that would have been a great basis for a Mario&Luigi gane, certainly better than that shit Paper Jam.
Shid. Visiting different planets instead of different parts of a country would've been cool
Game is solid enough to carry the shitters
to be fair this looks like a sequel done right.
>can walk multiple times per turn now
It's shit.
They won't.
I'll play it just to see how they're going to top the opera segment from the first game.
Full blown orchestra that reacts to everything that happens in the fight
Sound effects are replaced with certain instruments
Who plays Kingdom Battle for the rabbids?
Rabbid Rosalina is making me rethink the frickability of Rabbids
>RUs
>Grid-based
>Now free roaming
We've strayed so far from XCOM now that I can't even call it XCOM anymore.
It's always been more Valkyria Chronicles than x-com. All it's taking from x-com is the cover system (and even then it's been simplified).
You tell me
fricking hell that's the second best selling third party exclusive on switch after monhun rise, I thought it sold 3 million copies or something
It's sold really well but it has also had frequent sales for dirt cheap.
It was a launch title wasn't it?
It probably sold around 5 million. 7.5 is the amount of switch accounts that have played the game. It's not an official number of amount of units sold
7.5 million seems reasonable though, the game goes on sale for like 15 bucks, a full ass Mario game for 15 bucks on the switch is extremely tempting for people who would've otherwise not been interested in the game.
It's not an official number of units sold. Cope some more
??
Switch doesn't have a service like PS+, the only way for people to play the game is buying it.
I think it's a combination of elements. Early switch title and VERY regularly goes on sale. You always see it on the shop charts.
it's old hat to say at this point, but I'm happy for this guy. got given a completely shit concept and gave it so much soul and quality gameplay that it became a financial hit and fan favorite. goes to show, never half-ass.
The passion the team had on this game is astounding. Like, I'm replaying the game now, and I'm still blown away by it. I can't remember the last time in recent years that I played a game where it was this clear that the people making it actually had a passion for it.
everyone who knows Ubisoft Milan knows they're huge nintendogays. But it's indeed nice to see a product this well made.
Nintendo needs to do this more often, more so with IPs that they personally won't touch anymore. Find a side team that loves Nintendo, give them Wario Land, F-Zero, Star Fox, ect and call it a day.
Chroma Squad, Into the Breach and XCOM have everything these games have and more. It's just "Toddler's first Turn-based strategy game".
Except Rabbids improve on the gameplay in several ways. Yes, I'm as surprised as you are.
How so?
Several ways. Combat is more dynamic with pipes, chain jumps and dash extensions so you don't end up hunkering down behind full cover on separate ends of the map or get assraped six ways 'til sundays if you try to flank someone.
From the games i stated, at least one has one of those mechanics, nothing about these games is original.
This guy
covers most of it, but I'd also add that I really liked how they innovated on random hit chance. Instead of situations where you have a 90% chance to hit and miss, every shot is either guaranteed to hit, guaranteed to miss, or a coin flip. There's still the random chance that makes the games exciting and unpredictable, but you never ever feel fricked over for losing a 50:50 shot. Probably a matter of taste, I guess, but I think most people will like the KB version better, I know I definitely did.
I like Into the Breach
Is it on Eshop?
You can pull off some really complex moves in Kingdom Battle that make those games look like child's play actually.
Granted, Kingdom Battle is a lot easier than those and you don't actually need to harness its full strategic potential to win, but it's still fun to do so.
>You can pull off some really complex moves in Kingdom Battle that make those games look like child's play actually.
Lol. No.
A single move in M+R can end up crisscrossing the arena multiple times and have half a dozen parts to it if you set everything up skillfully. It's much more complex than a move in say Into the Breach, which also has much smaller arenas.
Chroma Squad was fun but it was really fricking shallow
So you love eating shit? That's good to know.
An easy mode introduction to a genre is a good thing as it expands the audience for a niche genre, especially for those intimidated by difficulty or menus. Someone who enjoys Mario + Rabbids may move on to try things like XCOM after. If a genre becomes more popular, you will have more devs willing to try and develop for that genre.
>inb4 gatekeepers whine about casualisation when most examples of it have always just been accessibility features or QOL that can be turned off
Me
It's Mario X-COM
It was a good game. No one really likes the rabbids, but the crossover is actually good. This will be a day 1 purchase for me.
Im glad its more of an action game this time around. I hated that the original had nothing close to action commands
It's a constant reminder that Rayman is never coming back to his glory days, banished to mobile apps and CalArts children cartoons
Was Rayman 3 good? Rayman 2 was the shit.
3 is great
homie rayman got his time in the sun, i'd rather his legacy not be sullied
It has Bowser as playable. Your opinion is invalidated.
but where's geno
In Squeenix's garbage can where he belongs
and also not obligatory Mario
that's amazing on its own
>and also not obligatory Mario
Where is this said? If it's true I'm preordering this right now
If only it didn't have rabbits.
I like the gameplay enough that I can tolerate rabbid "humor". Rosalina reveal when?
Why don't they just make it a regular Mario tactics game? Why make them rabbids dressed up as Peach and Rosalina, why not just make it peach and Rosalina?
It literally has both. Every mario character has a rabbid variant, both a present in the game. It's better than adding loads of ugly ubisoft OCs into the mix. One thing that concerns me about the sequel is the OC rabbid character.
I've never actually seen just Rosalina in Part 2 yet, it's always been just Rabbid Rosa so far
I'd be surprised if regular Rosalina isn't playable, although she could be unloackable much later in the game (like Yoshi was in the first game)
Given the plot she's probably being held captive and will join the team once rescued.
She isn't. The site confirmed 9 characters.
I'm hoping there will be more and they only intended on showing 9 before the launch. That said, didn't the leak confirm DLC characters? I mean, they will probably limited to DLC side stories, but still, maybe we'll get a side story where we see what Rosalina was up to.
Or who knows, maybe R Rosalina was a rabbid that fused with Rosalina herself instead of a cosplay. Rosalina is dead.
That we know of, the first game had more that weren't in the marketing
Rabbids don't speak so it doesn't scare me, it's most likely just going to be some Vegeta/Shadow joke edgelord sulking in the background.
think we'll also get a Rabbid Bowser on the team?
hopefully they make everyone on the roster feel at least somewhat unique. I never really used Peach or Yoshi in the first game.
Peach was worse than rabbid peach who was worse still than rabbid luigi's overpowered vamp heals. Yoshi joined your party far too late to be worthwhile.
Unrelated, but I hope the game has multiplayer included again, and I really hope it has online pvp matches but it's probablya pipedream.
Man I really hope we don’t get people past the half way point this time around. Not getting everyone until like halfway into the final world was complete nonsense.
Not sure if we'll get him on the team, but I'd love to see a Rabbid Bowser if only to see how his personality is. Honestly, I'd love it if we because no nonsense and was like a hyper villain, like instead of amplifying the sillier aspects of RPG Bowser, he just amplified the evil parts.
Why don't you play the first game and realise that you're moronic?
Because the rabbids are fun to watch unironically the lil Mario one with his guitar he’s great
you can literally make it a reguolar mario tactics game, you don't need rabbids characters in the new one
Because Ubisoft pitched the game in the first place.
why the FRICK would they go for the mario tactics equivalent to rabbids=toads only to have them regulated by the mandate to be a bore when rabbids are superior in everyday? They predate the minions fanbase.
Honestly yeah, I'll take the Rabbid's noises over a group of screeching Toads any day
I liked them in the last one
I liked it. There's only a few games I've played more on switch.
Rabbids were surprisingly decent in the first game and the X-COM like gameplay is pretty fun. Bowser playable in this one is great
Yeah, I'm surprised with how much Ubisoft toned them down. Like, a lot of their parts were based more on their actions, sometimes being rather subtle versus the usual "Haha, bunny go BWAAAH!"
Like when you first run into Rabbid Kong and Rabbid Luigi (or R Peach? I can't remember) quickly hands off the banana to Mario and sneaks away.
Kingdom Battle is a fricking gem of a game and the guy who makes these games is really good at making the Rabbids whimsical and reducing their annoying tendencies.
The two main developers of the series actually seem like they want to genuinely make good games, so that's a plus.
However, unless it has couch co-op for the campaign, i'll be passing on it. Nothing against the game or anything, but it's just that I don't have a lot of time for vidya nowadays, and nor does my brother, so we just play when we get together on the weekend.
holy kino
>Who even likes Rabbids?
Underage homosexuals.
Literally only issue I could potentially have is how there are levels now, hope that doesn't mean I'll have to go through grindy battles to boost characters I haven't been using
Everything else looks nice though, the gameplay if anything seems basically the same but you can't shoot your weapon before moving, looking forward to tomorrow's news
maybe bowser's uh "rabbidsona" is the donut steel
So... is Rabbids more Mario than Rayman now?
There’s almost as many games with rabbids and Mario as there are rayman and rabbids
Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle fricking rules though. I loved XCOM 2 and don't see why people draw this arbitrary line in the sand, like you can only enjoy one or the other. They're both amazing in different ways.
Thats how a lot of the gaming community is. Everything is black and white, theres no gray area, which is incredibly stupid.
what are you talking about? even people that hate the rabbids like these games
>muh rabbids
you can literally have all mario characters on your team now, you don't need rabbids
rabbid rosalina tho
DIdn't play the first game, this is the birth of a new Mario RPG series, and I am all for it.
>Why do they keep making these games?
You're saying that like this isn't the second game.
I will now play your game.
Why is he so lovable?
?
smooch
The Rabbids suck, but the first Mario + rabbids game was good
Calling it now, the weird rabbid OC is a mix of Peach, Bowser and a rabbid.
Okay but where are Wario, Waluigi, Deach and Wadaisy?
I have to imagine they'll appear considering those minibosses in the first game
I hope we get more interesting minibosses in this game. First miniboss was a piranha plant fused with a Rabbid, and I was hoping we'd get other things like that, but then world 2 is just "ice and fire" rabbids.
Whoops, I meant to also say that the last world sort of turned it around with the Wario and Waluigi fusion minibosses, but world 2 was bland and I can hardly remember world 3's miniboss (some sort of coffin zombie?)
Hopefully the non-Mushroom Kingdom location lets them get more interesting with the environments, the messy toy grass land was cool but after that it was pretty standard Mario stuff. The actual bosses outside of DK and Phantom were shit too
The ghost area where it started to dip into the swamp was pretty cool, makes me wish we got some sort of rabbid fused with Gooper Blooper as a miniboss
The first game was great
I unironically like the rabbids
>get the first game plus DLC when it dropped to pocket change price
>surprisingly fun just moving around and fricking with abilities and status effects
>cast is likable
>music is really good
>the Donkey Kong DLC was kino
I'm getting this day 1.
I'm replaying the first one now and I'm tempted to get the DK DLC, is it worth it? Like, does it bring anything of interest to the table or is it just more of the same with a DK coat of paint?
it's definitely worth it, especially during a sale.
you only have 3 members, so the experience is tailored towards those three, DK especially has new mechanics.
Huh, didn't realize that they had put that much into it. Well, consider me sold, I'll download it now and play it as soon as I get off work
It introduced new mechanics. DK can swing on vines and allies/enemies/hazards can be carried and tossed. Plus his weapon is a boomerang that can be angled to ricochet.
Its time for the Rabbidpill
?t=384
Yes this is real and official, the French are nuts
It still surprises me that the best short in that was the rabbids invasion one though I do like unconventional rabbids stuff
I'm not proud of it but I want to funk the green/black haired punk rabbid with the big sword
that's rabbid bowsette and you can't convince me otherwise, she literally has fire inside her mouth
>she
There's gonna be so much fricking porn.
>first game somehow made me like the rabbids
>second will now make me fap to them
I hope the overworld is way more interesting than the first one. Playing through an RPG with nothing but combat gets very boring
the overworld is completely revamped confirmed by interviews, it'll work more like the mario RPG games instead, and there'll be enemies roaming around that you can touch to initiate battle
I hope so but it didn't really look like that in the trailer. It looks like you're still following around a roomba and can't actually jump or anything
i meant more like the mario rpgs by the fact that the area is more open, it's not chapter based anymore, i'm sure there'll be other stuff to do instead of jumping
I just don't understand why anyone would make an RPG game with mario characters and not have any platforming at all... I just played crystal project and that game's platforming added so much to the game's overworld. I don't understand why indie devs can pull this off but AAA studios give no effort.
Somehow the first game was really good. It was a better strategy game than Fire Emblem lol
is it just me or do the environments look much cheaper like low poly indie stuff this time around?
a lot less details and refinement than the previous game.
I'll take that over the shitty crossover environments from the last one
frick you thoses were cool and fitted the game. the concept of a mario and a rabbid crossover sounds like a mess, and the devs knew it that’s why the entire workd is just regular mushroom kindgom but dirty and full of visual noise, because that’s the rabbid identity. The literally turned mushroom kingdom into a mess. And it made with the fusion theme of the game.
Here it tries to be way too artistic, which isn’t very good because art and beauty is the oppsitte of the rabbids. Looks way too serious compared to the first game
Gameplay looks better tho and Bowser being playable is great. Hope we see less of the robot rabbit OC, he was unfunny and annoying
the area is more open this time around so they had to cut back on the details
Rabbids Go Home is kino. I've always been fine with them.
>rabbid mario is back
Despite being the rabbid version of the main character, I honestly found him pretty uninteresting. I mean, I guess that was the point if he's based off of a character thats as mellow as Mario? Granted, I may be misremembering parts, but the an thing I remember is him playing the SMB theme once, and thats it.
You're right. Somehow Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Luigi were actual characters with their own unique personalities that played off each other like a silent movie comedy bit. Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Yoshi just kind of exist with no discernible character traits.
They joined way too late. They get their introductory cutscene and that's really it.
Hoping that everyone besides Bowser, Edge, and Rosalina is available at the beginning of the game. So they all have more time to play off each other.
If nothing else, R Yoshi at least has his own general insanity to work off of, but R Mario is kind of just... idk what he's supposed to be. Maybe some sort of "Lone Hero" trope?
Also I just now realized that R Luigi is basically amplifying Luigi's "Little Brother" aspects, like to the point he even has oversized clothes, like hand me downs.
'wienery lone hero' is basically it (hence the toothpick he carries around like a cigar). It's playing off of Mario's general fearlessness while lacking some of his humility.
>"You're hot cupcake"
Disagree, like his smug actitude and how he looks like he’s in control. Like a janitor on a resident that’s waitong for another broken toilet. Liked him but rabbid yoshi and yoshi were way better
Yeah I sort of revised that a few posts later when I realized they were going for a lone hero type deal. Honestly, the fact that it's a "lone" hero and he doesn't really play off anyone else, making his attributes more subtle make me appreciate him a bit more.
Also as a random side note, I hate that they gave R Luigi pants. I like it better when he was running around in an oversized shirt like a little brother in hand me down clothes
I wish we got Go Home 2 instead.
Because the previous game made a lot of money.
>Who even likes Rabbids?
Me
>Who even likes Rabbids?
If you didn't like this game, you're a homosexual.
they should remake this game. the rabbid customization and soundtrack blew my mind as a kid.
For me it’s rabbid luigi
>Who even likes Rabbids?
I would guess kids do. You know, the target audience.
Are we gonna be forced into using Mario again?
this dude says that is not the case. not sure if he's correct.
did you guys not watch the trailer? A few seconds into the trailer you can see a party of 3 with no Mario in it.
that's great. thanks, anons.
He's correct, I'm at work so I can't find it now, but some shots in the new trailer show teams without Mario. Granted, it may be from a story point where you have to split into multiple teams, but I feel like if they'd go through the trouble of having that they it'd just be a basic feature.
Gee, I wonder what could possibly be the reason...
Convince me to buy and play the first one in 4 lines of greentext or less.
>Yes, I am aware of and love the opera segment and the OST as much as anyone else.
You can have sex with Yoshi in it.
Do it for her.
they are the minions of MY generation
