This. I used to look down on AA batteries until I bought a xbone controller, and now I think basically everything should run on batteries:
      >You can buy batteries everywhere
      >You can recharge a set of batteries as you're using the other set
      >Don't have to deal with managing charging to prevent lifetime degradation
      >Two sets of good batteries will most likely last you longer than the shitty inbuilt batteries we use these days
      It's actually just upsides.

AA rechargeable batteries are cheap and instantly swappable, you'll never ever have to plug your controller in, basically, it's the ideal pro-consumer solution. Proprietary non-swappable batteries instead are doomed to fail sooner or later and it's pure planned obsolescence bullshit. It's not like there's a single valid reason for not designing a controller with swappable proprietary battery either, apart from pure greed. Fortunately I only had a single battery die from an old 'borrowed' PS3 dualshoch, replacing it was a true nightmare.

I don't know how you can stand the lag. I bought one as a spare for my Switch and it feels so sluggish compared to the official pro controller. I chalk it up to bluetooth not being as good as the radio frequency official controllers use after they synch to consoles with bluetooth. If your controller can't wake your console then it's probably pure bluetooth connection.

the lag is the same as on my xbox pad

          >you don't have to buy a battery charger and it lets you play while charging
You can buy two pairs of rechargeable AA's with a fast charger for like 20 bucks and only have to spend like 20 seconds swapping to the charged pair every 40 hours. The Official xbox battery pack only has a capacity of 1400 mAh, compared to the average 1900 mAh per battery of a standard eneloop. A pair of rechargeable AA's is almost three times the capacity of the official pack and you never have to be a cord cuck.
          >you can use it while you charge
lmao, you may as well save yourself the money and just be a cord cuck forever with nothing in the battery compartment if you list a controller being able to operate wired as a feature rather than the standard.

If you're a pc gamer then it's kinda a no brainer to play wired while sitting at your desk
              >less latency than bluetooth
              >don't have to worry about battery level
              >don't have to spend money on batteries
              >don't have to spend money on official dongle
              >it just works

I have my TV hooked to my PC via HDMI as a second monitor for when I'm playing single player action games with a controller, so I invested in some fujitsu brand batteries and the dongle. I also run this program that warns me when my battery levels are low and it's time to swap (only works with dongle).

I love AAs so much it's unreal. MS fricked up the elite revision by switching to yet another dogshit internal battery.

I wish they went back to the 360 system. That was the best, the little battery holders could be reloaded on the fly and swapped out in a literal second.

Anyone who says "lol just buy a lion battery" is a fricking moron. I needed a new battery for my mouse the other day, fricking 10 bucks for a single shitty 200mAh cell, and I got lucky I didn't have to re-pin the connector. And this was some random chink company, this wasn't an official replacement thing. Meanwhile I can buy batteries I know have QC for a dollar or two for AA.
