Why does Ganker never talk about GnG? It's a good series. You guys should play it.

i beat the original with save states and it was pretty awesome. i do own resurrection on steam but haven't dived into it properly yet. if you play on the hardest mode does it have no checkpoints like in the original? so if you die you start the game over?
Legend difficulty is the same as Knight difficulty but with less checkpoints.
On Knight, you get 6 checkpoints on most stages.
On Legend, it's mostly 2 with some stages only have a checkpoint before the boss.
Both difficulties have infinite lives.
I forgot Knight also lets you take an additional hit before dying.
that's awesome then, i know that's a lot more 'modern' zoomer type design but i like making progress even if it's super hard
>i beat the original with save states
You didn't beat the game.
i agree with you but i did see all the content so i'll take that. it's either i use save states or i watch a lets play cause there's no way i'm putting the hundreds of hours in it would take to get good enough to beat that game legit
>hundreds
You're exaggerating, here's my total playtime after finishing the nes port, I had beaten Super GnG a few times before, so that might have helped.
Do the Famicom version.
Why? Is it harder?
Faster enemies and no continues.
Yes. All the weapons have a slower fire rate in the Famicom version.
i mean i generally suck dick at 2d games, i played some amiga stuff as a very young kid but i didn't really get super into gaming until playstation era with 3d stuff so i've always been a lot better at 3d games and have an easier time with hard games that are in 3d. i struggle with 2d sidescrollers, i find them really hard so for me it probably would be hundreds of hours to beat that game properly
>The average Gankerermin nowadays

Stopped reading there.

>beat
Played the original arcade game on my chinkheld a few days ago for a few hours, will try to finish it when I have the time, I want to play through the whole game in a single session, so I'll need a good amount of free time.
i really hate ressurection's flash game graphics.
The "storybook" artstyle is kino, but yeah, the way it's animated also reminds me of a flash game. To be fair, especially knowing Capcom, the game probably was made on a shoestring budget.
I did. Except the PSP game.
The Firebrand spinoff is better.
Played the super nintendo one and arcade, curious about the psp version that apparently went further with the game mechanics and has interesting things in it. I like the series, the arcade one being my favorite but what I really want is another Gargoyle/Demons Crest.
i really like demon crest too
Gargoyle's Quest/Demon's Crest was mentioned on a Capcom survey recently for series respondents wanted to get a remake or reboot. The devs of GnGR seem like they'd be down for it.
God, I wish.
I think the biggest issue was that survey question was it was a pick one out of about eight options and some of those other ones were definitely more well known.
Is that a mod?
It's an unlockable spell.
Chad as frick stride.
Holy based.
The fact that this dude got into more fighting games than Arthur is insane.
SSSEEEEXXXXX
Most ppl never make it past lv. 1
I've only played the original in an arcade and ultimate on the PSP and both were frustratingly difficult, I loved their aesthetics though.
the complete lack of weapon balance makes me wince. every weapon other than a dagger is a punishment on the player
shame because the games are cool as frick otherwise
There are legit uses for most of the other weapons in Resurrection, and being able to carry more than one weapon later on allows for experimentation.
Castlevania is the superior locked-jump-arc-action-platformer-type-game
can we discuss fricking this cute monster
Please tell me you accidentally put 'fricking' in the wrong place.
Anon, NO
Between this and Castlevania being just fricking sweet, I'm just too ashamed that I can't beat either...
Keep trying and you'll be able to defeat those demons, anon!
Talking about GnG doesn't help, it's the game equivalent of a Puerto Rican knife fight. It takes all of your focus when you're doing it, but there's not much that needs to be said when it's over.
Because it’s not Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts

Is Tomba good?
Yes. An underrated gem. Never played the second one though
Resurrection SUCKS
worst in the series
why?
As someone who loves Resurrection and thinks it's the best in the series, the Giant's Tower on loop 1 is kinda bullshit.
Having them turn around instantly if the player jumps over them sucks, and there's a chokepoint where the first stone giant spawns which fricks the player over too easily between having to deal with the stone giant, it being able to throw an explosive barrel, another explosive barrel on the ground, crows, and possibly another giant spawning in if the player is a bit too late. That spot could have used another ladder.
isint the whole game like impossible to beat. its miles harder than anything, i wanna be the guy bs
It depends on the difficulty. Knight and below are very doable outside of a few difficulty spikes like the Giant's Tower. Legend is extremely punishing especially if done blind. I think a lot of people just didn't make very good use of the magic system by exiting stages after reaching checkpoints to adjust their spells if needed.
To answer your question, Ganker would rather play baby platformers that have no stakes like Tropical Freeze.
