2 has so many big problems that people gloss over because they were 10 when it came out. what a cope. 343 hire this man he has a phd in delusion.
Halo 2 > Halo CE > Halo 3 > Halo Reach > Halo ODST >>>>>> Halo Wars 1 >>>> Halo Wars 2 >>>>>>> Shifinitie >>>> Halo 4 >>>> The Marvels' Writing >>>>>>>> Halo 5
The spin-offs made by 343 aren't worth a mention
2 has so many big problems that people gloss over because they were 10 when it came out. The game is unfinished, AI breaks in almost every encounter, the weapon balance is awful, legendary was an afterthought, it’s ugly as sin because they needed to remove the new lighting system halfway through, the arbiter missions are almost all terrible. Joe Staten's Halo story ended with Halo 3. ODST and Reach were swan songs.
>"Halo 3: ODST is my favorite," Staten said. "And not just because I was helping to lead that project, but for me it was... any game developers that are watching will understand this. It was the game that we made in the most stable technology base that we'd ever had. You know, it was Halo 3 ODST. It was built in the Halo 3 engine, very few feature changes, so as almost entirely a content exercise. >"And we just had the flexibility to go in and create an experience, a story that didn't have to wait for the engineers to do all their hard work, rebuild tools and pipelines, implement big features. All of those things are wonderful part of game development, but it just makes things challenging. It extends your timeline." >"So I believe the original charter for ODST was we needed it in six months," Staten continued. "Harold Ryan, our studio head at the time famously came to me, and Paul Bertone, the other project lead and said, 'We need it in six months. Something like Halo 3, but backwards at night.' And we're like, no, we're not gonna do a Halo 3 backwards at night, but we get what you're saying. It needs to be efficient, it needs to reuse assets. We need to be smart about the new things that we put in."
Eric Nylund's Halo book trilogy ended with Ghosts of Onyx.
>Eric Nylund: GHOSTS OF ONYX is the end of one chapter in the HALO saga--and hopefully the start of an entirely new one!
Staten's story ended with a Halo 2 that never got finished in time. Halo 3 was supposed to be that Halo 2 ending but it was changed too much by other writers and become a lot more generic by the time it was done. I don't know why Staten is so proud of ODST, it's his worst work by far but I suspect not being crushed by the weight of deadlines and sales expectations made it the most pleasant to work on.
It should be praised
One of the last good halo games before bungee bailed and before it became Microsoft's pokemon; it doesn't have to be good anymore, it just has to be a new [intellectual property here]
I never understood it even back when it first released I thought it was a huge step down from the first game and you has to pay for xbox live to play online so that was not a selling point. Especially when Unreal Tournament 2K4 existed.
Absolutely fricking lutely. Anyone pretending what Halo did was because it was on consoles is gay. I was there in Unreal tournament fricking grav.jumping and sniping for years before Halo came out
I was there and Gears of War 2 had nothing to do with Unreal Tournament 2K4's success or failure. Even Gears of War 1 is a stretch but 2? That game was fricking dogshit from toes to teeth
Agreed - but honestly, Halo 5 is not worse than Halo 4.
Halo 5 multiplayer, while not really Halo, was way better than the dogshit that was Halo 4. I remember neither campaign enough to care about you rate that component.
I also think Reach is way too fondly remembered. The multiplayer was the beginning of the end for the series.
I remember being a kid and thinking that song was genuinely the peak of music and that everyone else should just stop trying to reach that high water mark lmao
>Halo was the only good FPS that included singleplayer + multiplayer >TimeSplitters was the only thing that could have competed and fricking no one played it
I was completely ready for TS to be the new FPS, but it just never took off despite having everything Halo got popular for. >good singleplayer campaign >gun variety >custom games >map maker >could even add bots to your custom maps/games >all this was in 2005, 2 years before Halo 3 which didn't even have bots
Everyone played and loved Timesplitters you fricking moron, the multiplayer was just goofy multiplayer fun and not intended to be deep or competitive so it didn't last decades.
ODST was the only Bungie era Halo game that wasn't very good, the other games were all fantastic and fundamentally different enough from one another that it isn't as simple as ranking them overall. Even Reach aged really well despite looking like pure shit on the Xbox 360.
nugay trying to meme on Ganker you aren’t cool and you’ll never fit in here homosexual kindly end your life on stream so we can jerk off and laugh at your homosexual corpse

Just played 1-3 and ODST for the first time a couple weeks ago.
2 has the worst gameplay of all of them, though it does sorta make up for it by being a huge step up from 1 story wise.
>2 has the worst gameplay of all of them, though it does sorta make up for it by being a huge step up from 1 story wise.
This so much this.
Specially considering the absolute Hell Bungie went through during it's development.
The fact they managed to win despite all odds its like a complete opposite modern gaming.

Had the best multiplayer. Fun co op campaigns.
Cool levels, loads of Easter eggs, completely exploreable out of map areas (I’m looking at you delta halo)
This is what makes it the best campaign by a few orders of magnitude. The campaign took on entirely new life when you realized all the ways you could get out of the map or sequence break or hunt down an easter egg - sword canceling to fly across the map, banshee/scorpion launching to get out of bounds, riding up 90 degree walls with the spectre and so on. It also had the most fun implementation of the birthday party skull, and picking that one up then going through the game to collect all skulls in order on legendary was the most fun co-op experience I've ever had in a halo game. Halo 3 was pretty fricking egregious with the garbage vehicle levels, but 2 really had em dialed in and they never dragged on like in the other games.
Just skip all the cutscenes and ignore all the dialogue and it's a great little game. I realize that's sacrilege for a Halo game but it works. Wish I could say the same for ODST but not even the campaign can save that one.
You've posted a soundtrack from a game that has terrible dialogue and cutscenes, and without a strong enough campaign experience to carry it. Reach was ODST fully realized, for better and for worse.
hes right
odst is overrated as frick
half the missions are trash
and the other half are just going back through areas you have already been in >OOOOUUUUU BUT THE AMBIANCE!!!!!
exactly thats all anyone actually remembers.
yeh, everyone who has actually played it KNOWS that it is a good game >better story and lore and writing and voice acting and cutscenes >better level design >better mission flow >better characters >better guns and weapon sandbox >better music >better multiplayer >the most content of any halo game ever >the most player agency and customisation of any halo game ever >at launch >for the same price as halo 2 was. >the best firefight in the series >the best custom games in the series >the best file sharing in the series >the best forge mode in the series >the best theatre mode in the series >the best multiplayer maps in the series >the best community support in the series >the best map packs in the series >the best vehicles in the series
i mean its not even fricking close anon.
if you were at least 30 then you'd understand how fricking dogshit reach is >oh, cod is popular >quick let's put in reticle bloom and sprint and loadouts because we're creatively bankrupt
Not him but Halo CE had a shit load of visual bugs that didn't get fixed until almost 10 years after MCC came out so I don't know why he's saying MCC was a great way to play them either. 2 is still plagued with issues on MCC and just had an update a couple days ago to fix more of them, but it's still a mess compared to the original Xbox versions.
Gearbox and Hired Gun completely botched them. Missing effects, sometimes straight up missing large parts of vegetation, animation framerates not brought up to 60, lacking coop. Halo 2 in particular had games for windows live annoyances and mouse problems for years
When Halo 2 came out I did absolutely nothing for months but Halo 2 on Xbox live with my online buddies. PC only gays will never understand. This was one of the best times in gaming.
So many fun gaming memories. We had it good, bros.
Got to 48 in Double Team with my homie zeplin0. He carried my ass hard but I was good at hiding and ambushing to keep my K/D up which is all he wanted in a partner.
It came back in Reach, it's just that Reach ranks were just a grind instead of a reflection of skill level so it took fricking years for people to reach ranks like Inheritor.
Halo 3 still had the military-style medals for ranks which was cooler than a flat number.
>He started with Halo CE >He started wtih Halo 2 >He started with Halo 3 >He started with Halo Reach
You are sounding like Sonicgays and their "Classic vs Modern" debates
>both games are played with a controller >both games feature english voice acting >both games are rendered in full 3D >both games have an trademark symbol in the title >both game protagonists wear gloves
Same with theatre mode and the party system. Just mad alien technology from the future that devs will never understand how to replicate again. Far Cry Instincts/Predator had a sick ass map maker on early Xbox Live as well to be fair.
Basically you play as the underdog humans against religious alien genociders then get involved in an ancient scheme of thousands of years in the making which leads to the fate of the entire galaxy in risk.
>Strong god fearing Christian men (humans) wiping out the filthy invading muslim menace (covenant) from our holy lands.
Is this really a religious story
Is mostly a mix of multiple cultures/religions, Bungie loved doing this kind of shit even back in the Marathon days.
Hell I'll not even be surprised if theres even a little wink in ONI.
sorry anon i forgot if its on youtube its instantly not true

The story in this game has Joe Staten's name written all over it. It also feels like the last time key figures at Bungie got together and developed a game ala Jason Jones, Marty, Staten, lehto, jaime griesemer and even new guys like paul bertone
the only guy that stuck around for Halo 3 was lehto, marty and paul, everyone else fricked off for some reason which why I think halo 3 has a weaker story and feels less fulfilling than halo 2.
This thread isn't about being completely correct and sharing astute observations about the culture and talent that goes into creating these masterpieces it's about shitting on people for thinking ODST was better than Reach
If it was a trend it would have passed. I understand it's easier to assume everyone you disagree with is a mindless automaton but you'll have to grow out of that someday.
Yes because it has once again become a passing trend, and in a years time they will be dead for another 20 years. If people start wearing JNCOs every day for 20 years en masse then maybe we'd have to admit to ourselves the possibility that they have a value we're not seeing.
Not really. Halo 3 is better. But also bigger and better. So if you played Halo 2 before 3, you didn't get the same effect as if you played Halo 3 as your first Halo. So memories that resonate more are the Halo 2 memories. It's not nostalgia glasses. It's cumulative value impression within the context of the time it was released. Halo 2 resonated more in this way
3 had the best overall package with the insane amount of social features that was unheard of in 2007
From a pure gameplay perspective 2 edges out due to good maps and a BR that doesn't suck
>Fully simulated real Halo.
It's a mini Halo, a UNSC built training installation. (Think COD Warzone map size if it were cut into 4 strips)
Why? Halo 1 already did this...or did it's best to make you really believe it. Context setting flying to the Halo in the first mission, unheard of huge levels and in incredible skybox. You felt the Halo.
So I argue, the only way to get Halo back on top is to deliver a Halo. (Wow, who would have guessed.) >Fly the interior loop in a pelican and deploy in a battle royale. >Snipe the upturned curve, and maybe have to deal with bullet rise. >Break the Halo into pieces at the end, travel from piece to piece in escape sequence. >Planet+Sun in background + ring rotation has a dramatic effect on Day/Night cycle (Think Day, Dusk, Night, Pitch Black) + Amazing sun/planet sets.
Notice I didn't say much on gameplay. You can find the perfect Halo gameplay loop somewhere between 3/Reach. But thematically, go back to Halo 5 style cheeky multiplayer intro/end animations. (MS got scared off of dude bro and even though the parody was true, it was also their strength).
>you can find the perfect Halo gameplay loop somewhere between 3/Reach.
sorry but you lost me in an attempt to be a pussy and pick the two crowd favorites that have the worst multiplayer. Boring Halo 3 and Map/Weapon/Combat inbalance of Halo Reach.
if you want an interesting multiplayer you have only two options.
Halo 2 and Halo 5. 5 is the superior option, despite the cries of fans getting their buttholes skilled gap'd.
im currently doing a playthrough of all of the games as a refresher. previously i wasnt to positive about Halo Reach's campaign, but after playing Halo 3, reach is Significantly better.
And its better for the same reasons Halo 2 is better than 3.
Combat zones are tight, with lots of enemies and objects and paths to weave around with interesting weapons. And most importantly, new and unique music to match the setting.
when I played through Halo 3 the first time i didnt realize what i didnt notice until months later. And it was that I couldnt remember a single song from Halo 3. Nothing was memorable about its music. On my recent playthrough i figured out why. It was because they Reused all of Halo 1's music and threw it into places it didnt fit. Just lazy nostalgia bait. The only unique song was from the Announcement Trailer. the gameplay of the entire game was significantly worse. Everything was waypointed, the maps were bigger but with fewer enemies and less things to play around or lanes to explore. If you want to imagine a Halo 3 level, picture a football field with 3 boxes spaced 25 feet apart and 5 enemies equally spaced. overall the story of 3 was poorly delivered. just felt like a series of forced events with no weight. The flood reaching earth didnt feel serious, even though it was more of a threat than the covenant ever was.
>toddlers and sonions still seething over the only good video game ever made even two decades later

>Eric Nylund: GHOSTS OF ONYX is the end of one chapter in the HALO saga--and hopefully the start of an entirely new one!
Ensemble Studios ended with Halo Wars.
Everything after 2010 is Disney-tier Star Wars.
One of the last good halo games before bungee bailed and before it became Microsoft's pokemon; it doesn't have to be good anymore, it just has to be a new [intellectual property here]
it's the only game ever
I never understood it even back when it first released I thought it was a huge step down from the first game and you has to pay for xbox live to play online so that was not a selling point. Especially when Unreal Tournament 2K4 existed.
>Especially when Unreal Tournament 2K4 existed.
Gears 2 and Halo 3 stomped on Unreal
Absolutely fricking lutely. Anyone pretending what Halo did was because it was on consoles is gay. I was there in Unreal tournament fricking grav.jumping and sniping for years before Halo came out
Halo is special.
What the frick does Gears of War 2 have to do with anything?
>What the frick does Gears of War 2 have to do with anything?
CoD, Gears & Halo defined the Xbox 360. You had to be there, zoomer.
I was there and Gears of War 2 had nothing to do with Unreal Tournament 2K4's success or failure. Even Gears of War 1 is a stretch but 2? That game was fricking dogshit from toes to teeth
Halo 2 > Halo CE > Halo 3 > Halo Reach > Halo ODST >>>>>> Halo Wars 1 >>>> Halo Wars 2 >>>>>>> Shifinitie >>>> Halo 4 >>>> The Marvels' Writing >>>>>>>> Halo 5
The spin-offs made by 343 aren't worth a mention
probably the closest thing to an objective list that anyone but me has ever posted
Is Infinite actually better than Halo 4? Haven't played anything past 4.
Yes it is, Infinite’s story may actually be TOO simple but that was likely a result of 4 and 5 being moronic
This is a true Halo fan
yes
truly brain dead

i know you are coping anon, you didnt exactly need to spell it out.
but i am proud that you could spell it 🙂
holy cringe. Halo boomers don't know how to shitpost
i accept your concession anon 🙂
You've been holding the L this entire time
well you were holding so many i thought i would take one to lessen the burden
You're a gay but I read this post in the arbiter's voice so you're alright
were it so easy
True
Agreed - but honestly, Halo 5 is not worse than Halo 4.
Halo 5 multiplayer, while not really Halo, was way better than the dogshit that was Halo 4. I remember neither campaign enough to care about you rate that component.
I also think Reach is way too fondly remembered. The multiplayer was the beginning of the end for the series.
I’ve never played 5 but 4’scampaign was so terrible I’ve never finished it
>Why do zoomers revere this rushed slop.

Because unlike you they have played it.
I’ve beaten it at least three times. I played it on launch day.
>Halo was the only good FPS that included singleplayer + multiplayer
>TimeSplitters was the only thing that could have competed and fricking no one played it
I was completely ready for TS to be the new FPS, but it just never took off despite having everything Halo got popular for.
>good singleplayer campaign
>gun variety
>custom games
>map maker
>could even add bots to your custom maps/games
>all this was in 2005, 2 years before Halo 3 which didn't even have bots

TWO SCARABS
I REPEAT
*TWO* SCARABS
Halo 3 is the most fun out of the original games imo
LASO runs were fun here
Flying to the top to blow them up while they were still full of enemies
3 and Reach LASO are a lot of fun
Absolute kino
It would been so much better if they actually walked around in the arena tho
whats the issue here?
can just strafe them with the hornet and they can't do anything about it
seems kind of silly
KINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Imagine being the Covenant trying to defend "your" holy temple from these fricking humans so you drop your 2 biggest mechs from orbit but unfortunately Master Chief just showed up and his theme song is playing.
god I miss 2007
funfact, if you get in the passenger seat the ai pilot will strafe the scarab so you can eject and destroy it from inside, he'll even wait for you and pick you up.
All Halo games were soulless and designed for braindead consoleturds. Legit one of the worst series to hit gaming
Halo 1 > Halo 2 > Halo 3.
Cast felt their dumbest in 3, so it's knocked down
You know Snoys have had a bad week when they start posting halo threads lol
Just played 1-3 and ODST for the first time a couple weeks ago.
2 has the worst gameplay of all of them, though it does sorta make up for it by being a huge step up from 1 story wise.
>2 has the worst gameplay of all of them, though it does sorta make up for it by being a huge step up from 1 story wise.
This so much this.
Specially considering the absolute Hell Bungie went through during it's development.
The fact they managed to win despite all odds its like a complete opposite modern gaming.
>The fact they managed to win
Win what? The "better story award"?
>Win what? The "better story award"?
Not being the first "Cyberpunk 2077 at lauch state" game for the Xbox.
>zoomers
The game's older than you troony
Halo CE and 2 are boomer core, series went to shit after
>Halo CE and 2 are boomer core
2 game out when the oldest zoomers were 8. It's a Zoomer game.
Halo is peak millennial you absolute knuckle dragger
>Halo is peak millennial you absolute knuckle dragger
Pft, i personally know zoomers who speak of of the Halo trilogy with reverence.
yeah because they play the master chief collection. The game itself is older than zoomers are
Halo belongs to us zoomers old man.
I've never seen a single zoomie that has played 2, it released on the OG Xbox it wasn't even a 360 title.
>I've never seen a single zoomie that has played 2
That's not my problem. The oldest zoomers were 8 when it came out.
Duel wielding. The gameplay. Story. Music
>Duel wielding
Useless
>The gameplay
A step down from CE
>Story
Pretty good
>Music
Good
So if video games were just story and music, it would be pretty good.
>A step down from CE
How exactly?
>Duel wielding
>Useless
huh?
>Playing on anything but Legendary
One of the many reasons it's a bad game.
maybe don't play on legendary if you're not up to it little man
>waaaaah I have to prioritize targets :((
>this game is too hard why can't I just win for free? :~~*
That’s not my problem
i think you posted the wrong webm anon
yeah whoops
i'll dual wield her if you know what i mean
no it doesnt
it shows missing almost every shot
you could do the same with with just the smg
precise shoot the hands
pop the shields
couple taps to the head
dead
faster
easier
uses less ammo
dual wielding is only good when you are in shotgun range and you dont have a shotgun
oh and not against jackals
shows duel wielding being incredibly effective
>Failing to kill a single jackal, overheating and emptying both weapons on the initial charge
>Falls back and drops weapon to throw a grenade
You're lucky you were playing on Easy
killed an elite in like .2 seconds
Anything will kill a Halo 2 elite in 3 seconds on Easy
you're just guessing it's easy
It's not exactly LASO in that webm is it lad jesus christ
i know its easy because if it was anything else you would be fricking dead before you could reload
no shields for most of the video and taking hit after hit and doesnt die
this is how i know its easy
You have no shields because obviously it's not on Easy. God you're dumb.
you didnt watch the webm
but thanks for playing kid 🙂
>i-its easy cause duh player loses shields too fast!
amazing analysis
>loses shields too fast!
no its because you have no shields and keep taking shot after shot and dont die
Well Halo 2 does have a "health" mechanic for when the player loses all shields. Whether its recharge is tied to actual shields or it has its own separate recharge on a different delay time I don't know
Yeah you have health. Play the game moron.
if it was on heroic you would be dead being on health that whole time while getting shot
simple as that
It is on Heroic. you're fricking stupid
Halo 3 was pretty fricking egregious with the garbage vehicle levels, but 2 really had em dialed in and they never dragged on like in the other games.
>zoomers
Millennials*
Feels so goddamn out of place.
Did they ever fix the muted music in Halo 2 classic for MCC? I'm guessing not sadly
>there are people who actually think reach is a good game
pathetic
I like the art style
Just skip all the cutscenes and ignore all the dialogue and it's a great little game. I realize that's sacrilege for a Halo game but it works. Wish I could say the same for ODST but not even the campaign can save that one.
excuse me?
You've posted a soundtrack from a game that has terrible dialogue and cutscenes, and without a strong enough campaign experience to carry it. Reach was ODST fully realized, for better and for worse.
hes right
odst is overrated as frick
half the missions are trash
and the other half are just going back through areas you have already been in
>OOOOUUUUU BUT THE AMBIANCE!!!!!
exactly thats all anyone actually remembers.
>doesn't remember hanging out with his ODST bros
absolutely disgusting
>stand on a point and defend from waves of enemies
yep that sums up odst mission
Doesn't every single Halo have something like that though?
I'd already being doing this with 16 randoms in Halo 3 customs for years
Halo 3 ODST writing is marvel tier
yeh, everyone who has actually played it KNOWS that it is a good game
>better story and lore and writing and voice acting and cutscenes
>better level design
>better mission flow
>better characters
>better guns and weapon sandbox
>better music
>better multiplayer
>the most content of any halo game ever
>the most player agency and customisation of any halo game ever
>at launch
>for the same price as halo 2 was.
>the best firefight in the series
>the best custom games in the series
>the best file sharing in the series
>the best forge mode in the series
>the best theatre mode in the series
>the best multiplayer maps in the series
>the best community support in the series
>the best map packs in the series
>the best vehicles in the series

sorry but you have to be 30 to post here.
sounds like its a bit past your bedtime.
>you have to be 30
Damn, I didn't know being old made you think edgy cringe characters are cool
if you were at least 30 then you'd understand how fricking dogshit reach is
>oh, cod is popular
>quick let's put in reticle bloom and sprint and loadouts because we're creatively bankrupt
Wrong on both counts bucko, my condolences on your shit taste.
characters
All the characters in reach are mega cringe
holy moronation
I love Reach and more than half this shit is wrong
prove it
you are just mad because you have never had agency in your own life.
Not indulging you, Mr. pseudo intellectual.
>Not indulging you
i accept your concession anon 🙂
as soon as someone says "player agency" in a sentence you know you can safely disregard the opinion
I feel genuinely sorry for the smucks who played the pc ports for halo ce and 2, specially 2's, before the MCC was a thing
What's so bad about them?
Not him but Halo CE had a shit load of visual bugs that didn't get fixed until almost 10 years after MCC came out so I don't know why he's saying MCC was a great way to play them either. 2 is still plagued with issues on MCC and just had an update a couple days ago to fix more of them, but it's still a mess compared to the original Xbox versions.
Gearbox and Hired Gun completely botched them. Missing effects, sometimes straight up missing large parts of vegetation, animation framerates not brought up to 60, lacking coop. Halo 2 in particular had games for windows live annoyances and mouse problems for years
>zoomers
Zoomers were barely concision when Halo 2 came out. Halo is a late millennials game.
When Halo 2 came out I did absolutely nothing for months but Halo 2 on Xbox live with my online buddies. PC only gays will never understand. This was one of the best times in gaming.
So many fun gaming memories. We had it good, bros.
Clan Squirtle Squad reporting in. We had a few sun/moon ranks.
Peak SOVL
Got to 48 in Double Team with my homie zeplin0. He carried my ass hard but I was good at hiding and ambushing to keep my K/D up which is all he wanted in a partner.
I honestly don't get why they got rid of this in Halo 3.
It came back in Reach, it's just that Reach ranks were just a grind instead of a reflection of skill level so it took fricking years for people to reach ranks like Inheritor.
Halo 3 still had the military-style medals for ranks which was cooler than a flat number.
I was going to say I was pretty sure that 3 did have it, they just had unique icons for every rank, but that was reach.

You are sounding like Sonicgays and their "Classic vs Modern" debates
All that matters is hating 343, which everyone does even if they say otherwise for attention.
don't forget the tv show
>he started with the tv show
No I think I will
>he started with halo 5 guardians
I see you john one hundred seventeen.
>You are sounding like Sonicgays

The xbox was basically the Dreamcast 2 anyway
Curious isn't it?
GYYYYEERRRRRRRR!!
What is this even insinuating?
>both games are played with a controller
>both games feature english voice acting
>both games are rendered in full 3D
>both games have an trademark symbol in the title
>both game protagonists wear gloves
I thought it was obvious, anon
>>both game protagonists wear gloves
I dunno man I don't consider Chief's armor just as "Gloves"
Halogays are the Sonicgays of shooters
I got you another one
>Both had dogshit live action adaptions
Autism
>He started with Halo CE
It's not actually that rare is it? I'm not an old decripit boomer because I started with CE when I was 6 right?
I sincerely hope that's not the case because it would make me a boomer too.
Halo is a boomer shooter
I was planning on playing through all of them since I've never played a single Halo game before but I'm really struggling to enjoy Halo 1.
Quit while you're behind then lad
Halo 2 and 3 had the best multiplayer experience of any game I've ever played, especially 3.
can't believe forge mode wasn't implemented in every multiplayer game since
Same with theatre mode and the party system. Just mad alien technology from the future that devs will never understand how to replicate again. Far Cry Instincts/Predator had a sick ass map maker on early Xbox Live as well to be fair.
Sooooooo what's so special about Halo's story? Never found the appeal to it.
Militaristic Space Opera
aliems, zombies, crusades, betrayals/uprisings. what's not to like?
Basically you play as the underdog humans against religious alien genociders then get involved in an ancient scheme of thousands of years in the making which leads to the fate of the entire galaxy in risk.
john halo kills millions of disgusting aliens and saves the human race all on his own.
and he has a banging sassy blue ai girlfriend

Weren't the Covenant winning until the Elites vs Brutes civil war?
yes but we won in the end which means none of that other stuff matters
>Strong god fearing Christian men (humans) wiping out the filthy invading muslim menace (covenant) from our holy lands.
Is this really a religious story
"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ" - John 1:17
Is mostly a mix of multiple cultures/religions, Bungie loved doing this kind of shit even back in the Marathon days.
Hell I'll not even be surprised if theres even a little wink in ONI.
>Is this really a religious story

Sprinkle science fantasy onto Aliens and you have Halo.
It became really trendy to pretend to like Halo 2 over 3 when 3 came out and they just sat there like a tumor.
It's kind of like the melee community.
If it was a trend it would have passed. I understand it's easier to assume everyone you disagree with is a mindless automaton but you'll have to grow out of that someday.
Anon, there are people TODAY that wear JNCO jeans.
Yes because it has once again become a passing trend, and in a years time they will be dead for another 20 years. If people start wearing JNCOs every day for 20 years en masse then maybe we'd have to admit to ourselves the possibility that they have a value we're not seeing.
You can't possibly be this dumb.
Listen man I'm not the one saying Halo 2 sucks because people wear JNCO jeans
I never said Halo 2 sucks in the first place.
Halo 2 resonated more in this way
>halo 2
>zoomers
Wut? The oldest FPS zoomers have played is whatever cod came out in ~2015.
Which Halo game has the best multiplayer?
>CE MP
>H2/H3/H2A MP
>Reach/H4 MP
>H5/Infinite MP
Accounting all factors, probably 3.
2 has the best competitive MP but 3 has way too much going for it overall.
I prefer 2 because it'sjust generally faster than the rest
3 had the best overall package with the insane amount of social features that was unheard of in 2007
From a pure gameplay perspective 2 edges out due to good maps and a BR that doesn't suck
CE for 2v2. H2 for mlg. H3 for party
DUDE DUAL WIELD XD
Halo is over
They can't recover
It could if I were in charge.
(Wow, who would have guessed.)
>Fly the interior loop in a pelican and deploy in a battle royale.
But, that's if I were in charge.
>you can find the perfect Halo gameplay loop somewhere between 3/Reach.
sorry but you lost me in an attempt to be a pussy and pick the two crowd favorites that have the worst multiplayer. Boring Halo 3 and Map/Weapon/Combat inbalance of Halo Reach.
if you want an interesting multiplayer you have only two options.
Halo 2 and Halo 5. 5 is the superior option, despite the cries of fans getting their buttholes skilled gap'd.

You already sound like a 343 employee
im currently doing a playthrough of all of the games as a refresher. previously i wasnt to positive about Halo Reach's campaign, but after playing Halo 3, reach is Significantly better.
