I never played any of the Borderlands games before but growing up and seeing how much fun everyone else had playing them back then has since left me always wanting to try them.
So I finally bought Borderlands 1 and 2 on Steam for like $5 each during the autumn sale and I plan on playing them for the first time. What am I in for?
BTW I'm going to play them on my Steam Deck. I hope the games run well on the Deck.
They will probably run fine. You might find the games to be shit though. BL2 is better in a lot of ways. BL1 had more satisfying damage scaling so you can use good guns for longer but BL1 feels pretty bad all around.

There are very few leggos in BL3 that are straight up shit after they went on a buff spree, I will say even purple weapons are viable all the way up to Mayhem 6, that's when you are like "okay, this stuff here doesnt work" and you have to switch to the good shit
Revolvers in 2 suck ass

I like slow, accurate, heavy hitting revolvers more since they were pocket snipers. Also didnt like how only jakobs made them so no more high tech looking revolvers
Really fun FPS looters shooter with cringe humor but the humor is part of what makes it borderlands in my opinion. BL2> BL1 >BL3 >BL pre sequel
If you are going to play one of them it HAS to be 2
Don't make fun of people with no friends, they could eventually grow up to be a scientist gay and makes covid like pandemic just to shit on people like you
The gameplay is pretty good but honestly the writing and story. 9/10 jokes fall flat because they over-explain them.
And BL3's story and characters were just straight up fricking terrible. Maya was the only decently written character and they killed her off in a cutscene EXACTLY THE SAME WAY THEY DID WITH ROLAND
Based, never managed to get my friends into the games until Tiny Tina's Wonderlands was in the autumn sale this year, they seem to be liking it so far.
No vehicle combat
Back to mindless fun instead of trying to have a super serious story in an inherently ridiculous setting
The only truly pozzed thing I've seen so far is this Paladin Mike character who is 110% a troony
Why is that an issue if a character is trans? Don't tell me you're one of *those* types of people...I really hate sharing this hobby with "people" like you who think this way about others.
They forewent big hub areas in favor of an overworld map you run around as a big-headed miniature of yourself.
Character customization, but anything you make in it will be ugly.
You get to pick 2 classes (basically 1 sub-class from BL3 in size) and mash them together. The 2nd one can be swapped out whenever if I recall right.
Grenades are replaced with spells. Some of them are good, some of them are bad. Instead of radiation as an element, we have life steal.
Many weapons can now come in normal gun form or weird gun crossbow form and feel surprisingly good.
You're going to be consistently strong throughout the game unless you try to gimp yourself.
The story is forgettable, but that's fine, it's just there as an excuse for various mechanics in the game.
couldn't tell you, BL1 I usually just call it after the first playthrough
the mid to late game is fun but I can't stand the early game so I never really want to repeat it outside of a fresh run
iirc for BL1 the "real" NG+ only happens after you open the vault on the second playthrough since that's when enemies scale properly
>my condolences
Why, though? The game is clearly much more fun than Borderlands 2, has better scaling, better characters and much more refined mechanics. Also, space jumping and slamming are fun as frick.
Damn good timing on the thread. I'm just playing BL2 Krieg with the Azurelands mod. It's really fun. The mod changes the skills around so Kriegs buzzaxe rampage thing is a toggleable skill with no cooldown, and it gives you stacking damage buff while you get hurt or deal damage while in rampage mode, which carries over into gun mode. So Krieg actually has a reason to go rampage. And the UVHM enemy health is nerfed so you don't need to slag everything to do damage to it.
I also bought the assault on sanctuary dlc thing, so I can level to 80, how is it? I very reluctant to buy it since it was free when BL3 launched, and I don't wanna support Gearbox's israeli trickery, but the urge to do OP levels again was too strong.
I don't know. I like the combat and I guess I'm working toward killing the raid bosses and getting all the loot I want with good prefixes/parts. If I get sick of playing the character I did all the things with, I can just switch to another, who can have a completely different playstyle. I'm just wasting time.
>hehe what if doctor zed (real roland in a doctor mask) pretended to be his moustached brother and led an army of zombies complete with the same shit "humor" and "writing" as BL2 and beyond >hehe what if general coxx suddenly existed as a character and was cartoonishly sad and mopey about the crimson lance being a joke >hoho what if craptrap started a gommunist revolution :DDDDDD >huhu what i-ACK
They were fricking shit and the first step into the cancer that the series became.
it's the only logical conclusion between his (your?) whining and ratings
BL2 and TPS are both direct upgrades gameplay wise even if the writing's shit, so it can't be based on gameplay
>characters to play
That'd go to Presequel, whose only not fun character is Nisha cause she's literally just an aimbot. Baroness without a friend only having 2 trees is annoying, but her other 2 skill trees make up for it.
1 has the best overall experience.
2 has the most content.
1.5 has the best characters.
3 has some of the best guns.
Wonderlands is basically just 3 in terms of guns, so it has that too.
3 is the best in the series if you dont give a frick about the writing and have a good enough PC to get constant 60fps.
Once you finish the main campaign and you get into the good shit (DLC campaigns, circles of slaughter, proving grounds, raid boss, both takedowns, BL3's epilogue quest with Ava) the game is a 9+/10.
The 8-12 hours of the main campaign are unfortunately the worst part, save for the combat heavy sections, which are great (because the combat is awesome)
Pre-Sequel is actually good. More weapon variety than 2, level design with verticality, faster skill tree progression, less bullet sponges. The level where you have to dump methane on a lava lake to freeze it and cross it gave a really good sense of progression like you were playing a Timesplitters 2 level. I also love the moments in the game where you have to get to an objective somewhere above but the game doesn't point out explicitly how to get there.
>Why does Ganker hate it?
Obnoxious writing, ugly visuals, I couldn't tell you anything about the music, and semi open world RPG shooter with random weapon stats rubs me the wrong way every way, I just don't enjoy that kind of gameplay.
Anyone who hates 1 and 2 are on the spectrum, but with 2's plot shit and entry in wokeness, they can be forgiven
Tps is justified because it wasn't even the proper BL dev team, and was meant as a holdover while gearbox wasted their time on not-overwatch
What they need to do is go back to basics, less plot than 2; somewhere between 1 and 2, incorporate/ bring back badass rank AND weapon proficiencies, make weapons and mods fun again (if tryhards want "muh realistic gun play", they can frick off to CoD), scrub any wokeness away, make girls sexy again (like BL1 Lilith and BL2 Gaige)
I liked short hair better, but that's what plot gets you, cheap 101 tactics to somehow attempt to draw you in. I'd rather have fun with visual customizations than boring scenes
It's just so fricking cheap. They did the same thing with Roland in BL2. "lmao what if we kill off a beloved player character in a cutscene where the player suddenly ceases existing"
>Roland >beloved
The player characters from game one were basically non-characters, black shooty man in particular being the worst offender. At least Brick had his moron rage.
If you did your entire playthrough as them you did get attached. I know a lot of people were also mad about killing off Bloodwing.

I was fairly upset since Mordecai was my favorite BL1 vault hunter that I played as. His final skill tree unlock that outright ignored enemy shields was super fun upon getting to the DLCs. I didn't really use bloodwing much myself unless it was for night of the living zed with a fire artifact to burn zombies easily, but he cared about him so I did as well. Must have put over 200 hours into BL1 since it was one of the few games that could run on my Macintosh as a kid
>bring back badass rank
Why? Proficiencies I can get, but why badass rank? It just added small basic b***h bonuses. >make weapons and mods fun again
Which game would you say had the best weapons and class mods? I think BL3 did easily, BL2 were good, and BL1 were all very basic.
>Proficiencies I can get, but why badass rank?
Maybe not 1:1, but personally I'm a numbers guy, and it's satisfying to see incremental bonuses go up as I play, it basically rewards constant play, and between 1 and 2 I've easily put in thousands of hours >Which game would you say had the best weapons and class mods?
2, EASILY. the problem is, the balancing was so broken in the meta game that solo play basically forced you to be 1 of 4 options period if you were playing solo. 3 had interesting concepts, but the weapons were so neutered, favoring skill over equipment, that it didn't feel like borderlands anymore

>2, EASILY. the problem is, the balancing was so broken in the meta game that solo play basically forced you to be 1 of 4 options period if you were playing solo
I agree endgame balancing was an issue, both in 2 and in 3, especially in 2. But I think 3's weapons were in general more unique and special than 2's, with cooler effects. I think that, boss mechanics and leveling are the only things 3 improved on. >3 had interesting concepts, but the weapons were so neutered, favoring skill over equipment, that it didn't feel like borderlands anymore
I don't really remember encountering that, though to be fair I didn't play a lot of 3's vanilla endgame. 3's character skills felt a lot more i guess impactful (?), than 2's which were mostly just pretty straight buffs to reload speed/damage/etc. with a few capstones that did unique things. Honestly, I'd want a system somewhere in between 2's and 3's skills. Though I don't remember skills being more important than weapons. Certainly you wanted to combine certain characters with certain weapons that worked well with their skills (as in 2), but I don't think weapons fell off.
1 was fine and had the best DLC campaigns and properly balanced it's stupidity with its serious elements.
From 2 onward you had to mute the game if you wanted to enjoy the gameplay, which only got worse from then on with each new game.
(You)
Only plotgays or fur/feather/scalegays would get assblasted over something so minor as a observation of the gaming industry over the last 15 or so years
Ponder that

I guess I prefer class based boosts to regular gunplay over some blatant ability, but 3's legendaries felt way more common and even moreso weakened
What's the most fun class in 2 for purely solo play? Normally I would take the magic class (siren) without a second thought, but apparently her skill is only for CC
Do I have to stay at low health with him? I don't like that gimmick usually. As for later meta, I'm not gonna be grinding the postgame, one playthrough is enough
Krieg is fun as shit, but I'd say he gets held back with the Slag mechanic
2 introduced Slag as one of the elements, where enemies afflicted with slag will receive increased damage. It doesn't make that much of a difference in normal and True Vault Hunter Mode, but in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, it is required since its the only way you'll deal big damage. If you're playing Ultimate mode, and you don't have a slag weapon, you're in for a frustrating time. Most of the character builds and skills when they reach 50+ usually have something to allow you to slag an enemy, but Krieg doesn't have that, his axe rampage does have any slag abilities, so you'll just be spamming melee on enemies continuously if you like the axe skill
Couldn't agree more, such a chore hoping back and forth between fire and slag solo
I like slow, accurate, heavy hitting revolvers more since they were pocket snipers. Also didnt like how only jakobs made them so no more high tech looking revolvers
Yeah, put that way, 1's felt more mighty
Do I have to stay at low health with him? I don't like that gimmick usually. As for later meta, I'm not gonna be grinding the postgame, one playthrough is enough
[...] >Slag
qrd?
>Do I have to stay at low health with him?
You don't HAVE to...
But I like that instant health regen, massive melee boost, and higher resistance with the right equipment
I like the first game, good vibe. Everything after didn't hit me the same way. Except maybe Tales. Even then, they couldn't world build and ultimately failed to make a cohesive universe.
B1 had the wacky humor but also a more somber, depressing atmosphere that I really liked. Plus you could get to max level and do the hardest challenges in ng+ without ever needing to farm loot like an autist. Overall a simple, enjoyable experience.
B2 pushed way harder on the humor, arguably too much, but it had much more variety in the environments and it expanded on the gameplay massively, sadly that also made it oriented towards grinding homosexualry. I think that in my first playthrough when it had just released I didn't find a single legendary weapon until ng+, and bear in mind that a good portion of legendaries aren't anything that special or even particularly strong.
Also any build you'll see online relies on save scumming because there's a ton of useful items that you can get only once in a playthrough and if you happen to roll a shitty one you're fricked. Somehow there's people with enough brainrot to enjoy the process of spawning, running 30 seconds to the mission board and then quitting out to repeat this 200 times or however long it takes to get the roll they want. Still a fun game for a ng playthrough for normal people, it's just that you won't get to experience any of the cool skill synergies and 90% of the special weapons
BL is fun but beyond the first playthrough of the first game(maybe), dialogue skip mods are required content because all of the talking drags on and literally extends the game by a few hours by not letting you start your quest right away.
Borderlands 4 and Wonderlands 2 are in the pipework, both being made in UE4. Gearbox is getting desperate so they're trying to churn out games on a faster release schedule. I'm sure we can all expect the same disappointments but with even less content and a smaller budget.
Oh, and Brothers in Arms is getting a remake. I'm sure the dozen or so people that still care about that game are appreciative of that.
If it ditches the wokeness and tryhardplotshit of 3 onwards, I don't care how "bad" it is
>was super happy when BL2 released for switch >finally I can take borderlands 2 on the ho >frickimg kill code exploit is left in the game
For as many times as I've bought 2, I like to consider this as my karma reward, so I can enjoy krieg solo in higher meta, without the fricking chore that is slag for certain bosses
I dont think there will be any problem in terms of gameplay, BL3 and Wonderlands have easily the best combat in the franchise. What I fear is the writing and the endgame.
If the writing is as bad as New Tales or they go full moronic with 100 chaos levels I will kill myself
There's a bug that prevents bl2 from launching on switch unless you check it for corruption. It's very strange. Once you do that it's fixed but a lot of people got fricked by it
for me its the dialogue, it uses the cringe factor and crank it to 11, some jokes may land okish but the vast majority is Seth Rogan-tier of humour, basically relaying on swearing and shouting "fart" "shit" "frick" every 5 words.
>"fart" "shit" "frick"
these words are pretty much never used in borderlands though
yeah they have cringe "quirky" dialogue but you're just making stuff up
>acoustic
Let no I like borderlands 1. 2 is dog shit after first play through due to devs nerfing every bit of fun and creativity out of over half the cast + slag. Presequel is fine just mute the dialog
yeah he's my favourite, he's the most geared towards pistols and revolvers are the most fun weapons in the game imo. But as the other anon said anything goes really
Why has nobody managed to create a proper lootshooter (man do I hate that term) that's better than Borderlands? All we keep getting are terrible roguelikes and pseudo mmos that don't give the same experience BL games do. All you have to do is: >make a singleplayer/coop focused campaign >make the writing more bearable than Borderlands >make a decent amount of endgame content
That's it! But all these other attempts insist on adding mechanics and gameplay elements that just ruin the entire experience. It's sad that Borderlands games still sit at the top of this garbage dump of a genre because there really is nothing better at the moment.
I've been looking for a game with fun shooting and great abilities for years. Personally I don't care about endgame stuff, and I think Borderlands made a huge mistake by only having one active skill
Remnant: From The Ashes is probably the closest to my dream
The fact that these games have level caps really bring down the whole experience for me. I’ve looked to see if there are mods to fix it like in New Vegas but I couldn’t find any.
Excluding the fact that Handsome Jack was exploiting his daughter, he would have actually improved Pandora. I don't see why the "heros" keep insisting on protecting it when the planet is an actual shithole where literally everything wants to kill you. Even Sanctuary's citizens were just as crazy as the bandits.
>have one good game >it's not even a complete game, the final product is just an empty alpha that's completable >the entire rest of the series including the first game's dlcs are irredeemable trash with godawful "humor" and writing
I want someone to hack into garbox's servers and leak the early pre-comic builds of the game.
Zombie DLC was actual fricking trash, the enemies were ridiculous bullet sponges and they NEVER STOPPED SPAWNING. The average encounter was insanely long in that DLC, with barely any worthwhile loot to chase.
Because we're occasionally not moronic? >The writing is fricking awful >Randy "I needed to keep jailbait porn on a company USB to learn how she was doing a magic trick" Pitchford stole the art style from the Vault Hunters animated short >Procedurally generated weapons are basically a gimmick. 98% are worse than what you have, 1% are the same but with bigger numbers, 1% are actually unique and usable >Inventory size is pretty small so you aren't even looting that much in a LOOTER SHOOTER >UI design is a fricking mess. Want to track more than 1 quest at a time? lol LMAO >Series has a surprisingly large amount of dialogue considering none of it's characters have any depth or actually do anything useful >Enemy AI is extremely basic >"RPG" elements boil down to that enemy is too low a level to give you anything useful, or that enemy is too strong to take damage from your gun >Repetitive quest and environment design >If you don't do the boring side quests the game throws a temper tantrum and makes you under levelled for the main quests >You can't auto pickup dollars until the 4th game in the series >Barely any penalty for dying so goodbye difficulty curve >Vehicle controls are shit and the areas you can use them in are aggressively cordoned off >Fanbase is a containment zone for people who think Anthony Burch is a good writer (so BL2 is the best because that's what they played when they were 12 and every other game is soulless or something)
But if you ignore literally all of that then you can play through the game like 3 times on NG+++++++ULTIMATEBADASS mode where there are a handful of new enemy variations and all the numbers got cranked up so you do 1 hiroshima of damage per shot and the enemies have 1 US National Debt worth of HP.
>>UI design is a fricking mess. Want to track more than 1 quest at a time? lol LMAO
what a cope reason
at the time BL1 come out, every game with quest trackers only had one active quest at a time
frick off moron
The low drop rates I can handle. In fact, I like legendaries require effort. But what bugs the shit out of me, it's layers of inane rng on top of one another. Shitty prefixes, shitty parts etc. So you could find the actual weapon you're looking for, only to get an awful roll as far as parts go. That should never have been a thing, coupled with extremely low drop rates imo.
>M8 she is unbearable from her very first line in the game
I mean sure but she's still like the only character who gets any kind of characterization in the game via her echo logs
the closest runner ups are helena and steele but even they barely have any character
bl1 is fun but the story and characters are very barebones
t. just finished my first playthrough in like a decade 30 minutes ago
Most of her dialog was cut out, along with every bit of dialog and every mission that would make any of the other characters an actual character. Even the random npcs that say one line, they're supposed to have an entire dialog tree with quests to give.
it's the only logical conclusion between his (your?) whining and ratings
BL2 and TPS are both direct upgrades gameplay wise even if the writing's shit, so it can't be based on gameplay
>making all the guns moronic and niche = improved gameplay
So yes, you're moronic.
bl3 has fun gameplay but the writing is absolutely bottom of the barrel garbage
bl2's writing was also shit but 3 really cranks it up to 11, if you ignore it the game's not that bad though
I think 1 and 2 range between either ambivalence or generally well-liked, but in basically every mainline game afterwards they went full tilt on le epic maymays and woke millennial humor to the point where it's genuinely insufferable. The humor is seriously dated in 2, but it got a lot worse with every other game.
For an sense of accomplishment, enjoy a plot or soclialize
Playing the same game over and over again for incrementally better loot isn't any of those things.
I wish BL3 had at least 10% of this feel from BL2. Welfare loot is cancer.

Is NG+ worth a play? I always play the DLCs on NG and then stop because I'm overleveled for NG+. BL1 had weird scaling.
couldn't tell you, BL1 I usually just call it after the first playthrough
the mid to late game is fun but I can't stand the early game so I never really want to repeat it outside of a fresh run
iirc for BL1 the "real" NG+ only happens after you open the vault on the second playthrough since that's when enemies scale properly
That's also when the game becomes bullshit.
I'm playing The Pre-Sequel right now. I always wondered why Borderlands threads were so rare on Ganker.
>I'm playing The Pre-Sequel right now
my condolences, anonchan
>my condolences
Why, though? The game is clearly much more fun than Borderlands 2, has better scaling, better characters and much more refined mechanics. Also, space jumping and slamming are fun as frick.
>The game is clearly much more fun than Borderlands 2
'no'
There's nothing in the shit-sequel that BL2 doesn't do better in every way. Simple as.
>Blind Borderlands 2 cultist
They warned me about your ilk. Begone foul beast.
>I always wondered why Borderlands threads were so rare on Ganker.
This thread is a shining example why.
You're not even trying, I have to agree with that other guy now, just fricking stop.
>I have to agree with that other guy now
you mean yourself, samegay?
I very reluctant to buy it since it was free when BL3 launched, and I don't wanna support Gearbox's israeli trickery, but the urge to do OP levels again was too strong.
>so I can level to 80, how is it?
a grind fest that isn't worth it unless you really like BL2
Well I got 500 hours of playtime, so I'll probably enjoy it then. The farming of legendaries apeases my autism.
>The farming of legendaries apeases my autism.
What's the end goal with that anyway? Is it just autism, or are you working towards something?
I don't know. I like the combat and I guess I'm working toward killing the raid bosses and getting all the loot I want with good prefixes/parts. If I get sick of playing the character I did all the things with, I can just switch to another, who can have a completely different playstyle. I'm just wasting time.
atavistic
Why use the acoustic zoomer meme?
I'm glad Nutales isn't on here.
Need to play it
You really, REALLY don't.
>Actually liked wonderlands
>More than 2 and Prememequel
Good fricking god

I hate you troony zoomers so fricking much it's unreal.
I'm 34. I was at Pax East when they announced Borderland 2
the writing is bad, like really fricking bad.
I stopped this series halfway through the DLC of 2 because of how bad it was
>liking a story heavy Borderlands game the most
someone needs their head checked
Here's an actually correct version.
>hehe what if doctor zed (real roland in a doctor mask) pretended to be his moustached brother and led an army of zombies complete with the same shit "humor" and "writing" as BL2 and beyond
>hehe what if general coxx suddenly existed as a character and was cartoonishly sad and mopey about the crimson lance being a joke
>hoho what if craptrap started a gommunist revolution :DDDDDD
>huhu what i-ACK
They were fricking shit and the first step into the cancer that the series became.
>that picture
what kind of homosexual plays borderlands for the story lol
Do you just wait for a chance to jump to a conclusion nobody ever even planted the seeds for?
it's the only logical conclusion between his (your?) whining and ratings
BL2 and TPS are both direct upgrades gameplay wise even if the writing's shit, so it can't be based on gameplay
bl2 is the best bl game simply because it has the most fun characters to play
the writing is garbage but the gameplay balances it out
>characters to play
That'd go to Presequel, whose only not fun character is Nisha cause she's literally just an aimbot. Baroness without a friend only having 2 trees is annoying, but her other 2 skill trees make up for it.
You really, genuinely do not need to play it.
1 has the best overall experience.
2 has the most content.
1.5 has the best characters.
3 has some of the best guns.
Wonderlands is basically just 3 in terms of guns, so it has that too.
I don't hate them, the first 2 are probably my most played games back on 360. Haven't gotten around to playing 3 yet.
3 is divisive, your enjoyment depends on what other fps's you like
3 is the best in the series if you dont give a frick about the writing and have a good enough PC to get constant 60fps.
I think 3 deviates pretty far from 2. I think 3 was made with modern/ "serious"/ realistic shooters in mind
Based Gaigebro
BL3 Maya was hot as hell
And yes I'm STILL FRICKING MAD THAT THEY KILLED HER OFF FOR CHEAP DRAMA
I liked short hair better, but that's what plot gets you, cheap 101 tactics to somehow attempt to draw you in. I'd rather have fun with visual customizations than boring scenes
It's just so fricking cheap. They did the same thing with Roland in BL2. "lmao what if we kill off a beloved player character in a cutscene where the player suddenly ceases existing"
>Roland
>beloved
The player characters from game one were basically non-characters, black shooty man in particular being the worst offender. At least Brick had his moron rage.
If you did your entire playthrough as them you did get attached. I know a lot of people were also mad about killing off Bloodwing.
>attached
To what, their occasional funny quips?
Plotgays seek any means to feel while consooming media
>caring about the story of fricking borderlands of all possible games
I'm impressed with your ability to care about white noise.
Must have put over 200 hours into BL1 since it was one of the few games that could run on my Macintosh as a kid
i kneel maya-sama
bl3 is fan-fiction
>bring back badass rank
Maybe not 1:1, but personally I'm a numbers guy, and it's satisfying to see incremental bonuses go up as I play, it basically rewards constant play, and between 1 and 2 I've easily put in thousands of hours
>Which game would you say had the best weapons and class mods?
2, EASILY. the problem is, the balancing was so broken in the meta game that solo play basically forced you to be 1 of 4 options period if you were playing solo. 3 had interesting concepts, but the weapons were so neutered, favoring skill over equipment, that it didn't feel like borderlands anymore
Exactly
>2, EASILY. the problem is, the balancing was so broken in the meta game that solo play basically forced you to be 1 of 4 options period if you were playing solo
1 was fine up to the science woman, the game goes to shit after that.
2 is trash.
I blame this and destiny for making every AAA game a shitty looter RPG
Meanwhile BL tried to be a AAA movie game, and failed
1 was a success because it was a fun and simple premise
Shitposters seek any means to get a (You) while browsing Ganker.
(You)
Only plotgays or fur/feather/scalegays would get assblasted over something so minor as a observation of the gaming industry over the last 15 or so years
Ponder that
I guess I prefer class based boosts to regular gunplay over some blatant ability, but 3's legendaries felt way more common and even moreso weakened
2 and 3 are good, but just play them with voices off
What the FRICK was her problem?
Too much screentime and forced importance
THIS GIRL IS ON FIIIIIIIIIRE
She's a coalburning prostitute. Like I give a shit about her.
The funny thing is Roland barely gave a frick about her.
The BUTCHER is VERY fun
yeah, but low damage made it unusable on MH11
Uhm. English, doc?
What's the most fun class in 2 for purely solo play? Normally I would take the magic class (siren) without a second thought, but apparently her skill is only for CC
My personal favorite was the psycho, fricking great callouts, great for aggro and crowd control, but not the best for some bosses, and later meta solo
Do I have to stay at low health with him? I don't like that gimmick usually. As for later meta, I'm not gonna be grinding the postgame, one playthrough is enough
>Slag
qrd?
Krieg is fun as shit, but I'd say he gets held back with the Slag mechanic
Couldn't agree more, such a chore hoping back and forth between fire and slag solo
Yeah, put that way, 1's felt more mighty
>Do I have to stay at low health with him?
BL is fun but beyond the first playthrough of the first game(maybe), dialogue skip mods are required content because all of the talking drags on and literally extends the game by a few hours by not letting you start your quest right away.
>dialogue skip mods are required content
based ADHDgay
I never skip anything in other games, only borderlands, the "humor" is so grating and the rest of the dialogue is boring and annoying.
So who's your favorite character to play as? For me its Timothy/Doppelganger
Gaige sex
Borderlands 4 and Wonderlands 2 are in the pipework, both being made in UE4. Gearbox is getting desperate so they're trying to churn out games on a faster release schedule. I'm sure we can all expect the same disappointments but with even less content and a smaller budget.
Oh, and Brothers in Arms is getting a remake. I'm sure the dozen or so people that still care about that game are appreciative of that.
If it ditches the wokeness and tryhardplotshit of 3 onwards, I don't care how "bad" it is
For as many times as I've bought 2, I like to consider this as my karma reward, so I can enjoy krieg solo in higher meta, without the fricking chore that is slag for certain bosses
I dont think there will be any problem in terms of gameplay, BL3 and Wonderlands have easily the best combat in the franchise. What I fear is the writing and the endgame.
If the writing is as bad as New Tales or they go full moronic with 100 chaos levels I will kill myself
If they keep the BL3 gameplay and just fix the writing, it's gonna be a good game. Just kill Ava and don't make the villains too cringe ffs
>was super happy when BL2 released for switch
>finally I can take borderlands 2 on the ho
>frickimg kill code exploit is left in the game
What exploit?
There's a bug that prevents bl2 from launching on switch unless you check it for corruption. It's very strange. Once you do that it's fixed but a lot of people got fricked by it
for me its the dialogue, it uses the cringe factor and crank it to 11, some jokes may land okish but the vast majority is Seth Rogan-tier of humour, basically relaying on swearing and shouting "fart" "shit" "frick" every 5 words.
>basically relaying on swearing and shouting "fart" "shit" "frick" every 5 words.
so it's basically irl Ganker shitposting, what's not to love?
>so it's basically irl Ganker shitposting, what's not to love?
they don't say Black person, not even once I swear!
Borderlands 1 is fun Red head is the best class.
Borderlands 2 is also fun Mechromancer is the best class. Psycho is the most fun class.
Playing the first one. I started with Mordecai. Did I do good?
Sure
BL1 isn't as demanding as the other games. A lot of your power comes from finding busted guns instead of using busted skills.
yeah he's my favourite, he's the most geared towards pistols and revolvers are the most fun weapons in the game imo. But as the other anon said anything goes really
Why has nobody managed to create a proper lootshooter (man do I hate that term) that's better than Borderlands? All we keep getting are terrible roguelikes and pseudo mmos that don't give the same experience BL games do. All you have to do is:
>make a singleplayer/coop focused campaign
>make the writing more bearable than Borderlands
>make a decent amount of endgame content
That's it! But all these other attempts insist on adding mechanics and gameplay elements that just ruin the entire experience. It's sad that Borderlands games still sit at the top of this garbage dump of a genre because there really is nothing better at the moment.
you do it then
I can't because I'm only a writer.
I just stop having fun once the grind stops
Excluding the fact that Handsome Jack was exploiting his daughter, he would have actually improved Pandora. I don't see why the "heros" keep insisting on protecting it when the planet is an actual shithole where literally everything wants to kill you. Even Sanctuary's citizens were just as crazy as the bandits.
"Improved" in the sense that Stalinist Russia is a step above Mad Max.
But there would also be cool robots and guns.
No one says gaige is bad
She's far from it, people just say shes boring (which well, understandable) but shes easily one of the strongest vhs cuz of how silly Anarchy is
>have one good game
>it's not even a complete game, the final product is just an empty alpha that's completable
>the entire rest of the series including the first game's dlcs are irredeemable trash with godawful "humor" and writing
I want someone to hack into garbox's servers and leak the early pre-comic builds of the game.
>Bl1 DLC
>trash
Actual shit taste right there.
Zombie DLC was actual fricking trash, the enemies were ridiculous bullet sponges and they NEVER STOPPED SPAWNING. The average encounter was insanely long in that DLC, with barely any worthwhile loot to chase.
Because we're occasionally not moronic?
>The writing is fricking awful
>Randy "I needed to keep jailbait porn on a company USB to learn how she was doing a magic trick" Pitchford stole the art style from the Vault Hunters animated short
>Procedurally generated weapons are basically a gimmick. 98% are worse than what you have, 1% are the same but with bigger numbers, 1% are actually unique and usable
>Inventory size is pretty small so you aren't even looting that much in a LOOTER SHOOTER
>UI design is a fricking mess. Want to track more than 1 quest at a time? lol LMAO
>Series has a surprisingly large amount of dialogue considering none of it's characters have any depth or actually do anything useful
>Enemy AI is extremely basic
>"RPG" elements boil down to that enemy is too low a level to give you anything useful, or that enemy is too strong to take damage from your gun
>Repetitive quest and environment design
>If you don't do the boring side quests the game throws a temper tantrum and makes you under levelled for the main quests
>You can't auto pickup dollars until the 4th game in the series
>Barely any penalty for dying so goodbye difficulty curve
>Vehicle controls are shit and the areas you can use them in are aggressively cordoned off
>Fanbase is a containment zone for people who think Anthony Burch is a good writer (so BL2 is the best because that's what they played when they were 12 and every other game is soulless or something)
But if you ignore literally all of that then you can play through the game like 3 times on NG+++++++ULTIMATEBADASS mode where there are a handful of new enemy variations and all the numbers got cranked up so you do 1 hiroshima of damage per shot and the enemies have 1 US National Debt worth of HP.
any penalty for dying so goodbye difficulty curve
>NOOOOOOOO I NEED MY SAVE FILE DELETED WHEN I DIE REEE REEE REEE
autism
>>UI design is a fricking mess. Want to track more than 1 quest at a time? lol LMAO
what a cope reason
at the time BL1 come out, every game with quest trackers only had one active quest at a time
frick off moron
You auto-pickup cash in BL2 though...
Eridium bars not being automatically picked up was stupid however. Thankfully they fixed that in 3.
lots of nonarguments here
I shouldn't be surprised, but...wow...
Is BL2 still played on pc? Had lots of fun playing it back on the ps3 era
Bought the game years ago but never bothered playing it
PC had a way better version of BL2 than other consoles. To make up for the bad Borderland 1 release. They literally wrote a love letter to PC players
more like PLAPtrap
>playing bl1
>having a good time
> tannis shows up
she's the only fleshed out character in bl1 and then they just made her go full moron in the sequels
wasted character
M8 she is unbearable from her very first line in the game
>M8 she is unbearable from her very first line in the game
I mean sure but she's still like the only character who gets any kind of characterization in the game via her echo logs
the closest runner ups are helena and steele but even they barely have any character
bl1 is fun but the story and characters are very barebones
t. just finished my first playthrough in like a decade 30 minutes ago
Most of her dialog was cut out, along with every bit of dialog and every mission that would make any of the other characters an actual character. Even the random npcs that say one line, they're supposed to have an entire dialog tree with quests to give.
>making all the guns moronic and niche = improved gameplay
So yes, you're moronic.
I'd frick Tannis
Crazy in the head, Crazy in bed.
I would like to play these games but I heard BL3 went turbo SJW and also my friends won't play FPS games for some reason.
bl3 has fun gameplay but the writing is absolutely bottom of the barrel garbage
bl2's writing was also shit but 3 really cranks it up to 11, if you ignore it the game's not that bad though
Get the dialog skip/remover mod.
Borderlands is just an loot/dopamine dispenser
>OH LOOK SLIGHTLY IMPROVED WEAPON
As you play the game over and over again.
>dopamine dispenser
why else would you play a video game?
For an sense of accomplishment, enjoy a plot or soclialize
Playing the same game over and over again for incrementally better loot isn't any of those things.
I will say BL2 is still the best of the series.
>sense of accomplishment
doesn't exist in modern games
>soclialize
go outside
I wish BL3 had at least 10% of this feel from BL2. Welfare loot is cancer.
Diablo is just an loot/dopamine dispenser
>OH LOOK SLIGHTLY IMPROVED WEAPON
As you play the game over and over again.
Sure, Diablo has the same issues
Sounds like you're just not a fan of ARPGs.
I liked the bleak and drab world of 1. I'm sure you all can imagine how I feel about the rest of the series.
fratboy-tier humour and characters whose main characteristic is their amusing name
back in the day my friends thought I was weird for picking Maya, but I just liked her crowd control abilities
