I like to swing swords in my vidya. Wuxia stuff is mostly about throwing swords and riding them like surfboards while doing kung-fu dances.
I also played Perfect World a long time ago so my brain trained itself to instinctively hate wuxia content as a self-defense mechanism.
That's xianxia you swine. Wuxia is martial artists, Xianxia is cultivators and shit. Here, lemme simplify it. Wuxia is low/ no fantasy, with the most fantastical element being martial arts actually being worth a damn and super poisons and maybe, maybe some magic.
Xianxia is chinese kitchen sink baby, flying swords, immortals, demons, the whole kebab shop. And it is dominated by cultivation, which itself is dominated by autistic power fantasies that last for a minimum of 3000 chapters if the author isn't visted by the chinese goverment for being a lil too autistic. Like what happened with Reverend insanity. And annoyingly, no game has really captured cultivation in a fun way, there's a lot of shitty grind a thons or ptw phone bullshit, but nothing that gives that trashy thrill of a good cultivation novel.
Its fun, but I'd prefer an rpg, not a colony builder. Doesn't scratch the itch I have.
>And annoyingly, no game has really captured cultivation in a fun way
Sukuna of rice and ruin motherfricker
Not at all, its a fun game, but not cultivation.
Ironically, the closest to a Xianxia MMO game I've seen is Runescape.
Yeah, actually.
Other game i can recommend is Tale of Immortal. It is a shit game, actually. It has mods, but mods won't make it a good game. But.. there's some good stuff in the game. While player can't really beat opponents one/two realms higher than themself (so unlike usual wuxia). But when player gets up a realm, power difference is huge, and all those equal opponents of previous realm become scrubs. Power fantasy feeling, you know. But game is really grindy, really-really grindy and unbalanced..
And yeah, tale of immortal is trash but you can have fun with it if you can tolerate the grind, which I think actually is what makes it feel like a decent cultivation game
I’ve read a few of these before and the cultivation part is never relevant to the story outside of the name itself. Like the MC will sit cross legged meditating on his 9 infernal heavenly demon god Ox fist scroll but nothing of substance comes from it except a special effect punch to kill psycho sect bully character #57. The same goes for cultivation stages. Outside of the first one where they shed all the impurities it’s almost never relevant. You could replace “spirit profound realm” with “level 40” and it would mean the same thing. A lot of wasted potential is how I would summarize the LN cultivation genre, always starting strong before inevitably turning into low brow power fantasy slop. It IS surprising how theres basically zero good cultivation games though. Seems like a no brainer for a china souls clone instead of more wukong wank.
Yeah, there is mountains of shit to dig through to find anything that's well written/ good. But I can enjoy trash so long as its fun.
And I think the reason there hasn't been a good cultivation game, besides the chinese being content with phonetrash is because the power scaling would be a pain to make. Since you start as an average rice farmer peasant who was blessed to be able to cultivate and by the end you're a reality warping god throwing planets and shit. It'd be hard to find a balance between the early and late, and thein between could suffer for it.
It's true in a sense
Both are made for sub 100iq kids
Its a guilty pleasure. Its a trash genre, but I don't lie to myself and try to claim I'm reading something like Nine heavens conqueror or what have you, Ironically

So...Disgaea???

Elona is also sort of like that. You start as a hobo who can barely clear dungeons but with a good and balanced diet and lots of underpaid part-time jobs you can kill gods and even the physical manifestation of magic cancer (or get married with her).
Different types of food will increase different types of attributes. For example, meat in general is good for Strength and Constitution, but putit meat will also train Charisma, while horse meat gives an extra bonus for Constitution. Some types of food are also poisonous (or just have weird effects), so be careful with that.
Each type of herb gives a big training boost on two stats and a minor boost to everything else, except for stomafillia and curaria (small boost to everything). Herbs can also increase your attribute's potential (the EXP multiplier).
Cooking raw food will increase its quality based on your cooking skill (bad results will decrease the raw food's quality, though).
The tricky part is to take care of your potential growth. The multiplier decreases every time you increase your attribute. Sleeping in good beds, eating special herbs and drinking potions of potential will help you with that.
If you are playing ElonaPlus, you can also increase your attributes' potential with breakfasts (you can get this for free by waking up in the morning with your pet/ally/wife/slave/etc, so a regular sleep schedule and taking care of your pet/etc is also important) and picnic baskets (craftable). You can also cook herbed food by combining herbs and food, this will increase all attributes/potentials along with the main boost of your food and herbs of choice.
I think he's still alive, but the governments straight up threatened him to cancel his long running novel as it was nearing its end after it came to their attention he introduced a fraction that kind of looked like them and were portrayed as baddies.
Oh, and the whole story was critical of authoritarianism. It really is a surprise homeboy slipped by unnoticed for like, 2300 chapters, before daddy poo got wind of what he was cooking.

China has a moronic culture thanks to getting conquered so many times and then subsisting on rice.
I don't trust Chinese developed games.
do wumaos really?

Should have played 9Dragons instead
oh shit i havent heard perfect world mentioned in like a decade
It be like that
Sadly do not have saved pictures of my beautiful base and too lazy to install game to make one.
Most wuxia games are just copies of the same turn based pseudo open world and it’s a huge waste of potential.
Matchless Kungfu, it is very EA game but still fun

you don't like cultivation simulator? a bunch of crazy mechanics with random events sounds like it fits the genre
Its fun, but I'd prefer an rpg, not a colony builder. Doesn't scratch the itch I have.

Who cares
Wuxia, xanxia, chingchong xia, same shit

Cultivating a farm is not the same as cultivation.
Ironically, the closest to a Xianxia MMO game I've seen is Runescape.

Not the right kind of gameplay. Also it doesn't have mechanics for alchemy, meditation and all the other bread and butters of the genre.

Frick, I have been playing Elona, and I have heard a good diet is important, any tips on that?

>Reverend insanity.
W-What happened to him
Novel was banned for damaging public morals or something like that.
I think he's still alive, but the governments straight up threatened him to cancel his long running novel as it was nearing its end after it came to their attention he introduced a fraction that kind of looked like them and were portrayed as baddies.
>Wastes a billon years making your autistic novel
>Your overlords literally hold you to gun point, to cancel it
Oh, and the whole story was critical of authoritarianism. It really is a surprise homeboy slipped by unnoticed for like, 2300 chapters, before daddy poo got wind of what he was cooking.
Reciting Mao's poetry at the start of every new arc could only cover his ass for so long.
>get stronger by doing drugs and sitting on your ass
Biggest troll dynasties did on pesants lmao
>Enjoying chinkslop
You have no standards and should feel bad.

>much cultivation
Literally just China's version of isekai, except even more slop. Maybe if I was still 12 I could get into it, but not anymore
You have no idea what isekai or cultivation mean, maybe even both.
It's true in a sense
Both are made for sub 100iq kids
Stupid point, everything but science journals (many of them are compromised) are made for sub 100iq people
nice cope
Oh OK Rom coms are literally just America's version of wu xia
I like wuxia. I don't like that the vast majority of Chinese games have a fricking terrible translation full of typos and nonsense.
Xianxia is dogshit. Nothing but power fantasy shock value asspulls.
Show me 5 action wuxia games that play like DMC or NG.
