that's what they asked decades ago too. why does it need over 36kb chip? why does it need over 12mb? why it needs to be 600 mb? why does it need over 4gb? why over 8gb? why over 12gb?

Some games duplicate the video data too just to give them different audio. Because it makes it a bit simpler to deal with. Sometimes tens of GBs wasted like that.
it's already 100 GB installed, so I guess they're not adding much.
Lots of shit in the game is uncompressed. As long as it's EA I'm willing to at least give them the benefit of the doubt that they're not bothering to optimize file size in a build that's constantly being fiddled with.
that what happens when they outsource games to pajeets to develop, they don't optimize and don't compress because they don't care, it benefits the hardware companies too so gays buy more storage and more powerful gpus.
imagine paying real money to download 100gb of pure shit.
this game is fricking shit. what are the odds of someone making a mod where dice rolls are normalized into hard numbers? because it's literally unplayable as it is now.
It's a console thing. Suits figured out that console tend to download shit via shit wi-fi, so you can make the game big (with the excuse of high def textures and uncompressed audio) and basically force a time investment in just getting the game. Unironically people are less likely to uninstall it even if their shit gets full as they'd have to re-install it if they want to play again.
Because it has a shitty art style and tries to compensate with "muh HD realism"
It's voicelines and uncompressed audio.
You can use the same texture thousands of times but it doesn't work that way with sound.
Why not? What's wrong with a game being 100GB?
You're not even human
because most people here are only 1tb plebs
How? Storage is insanely cheap.
Not enough content to justify it

Because devs don't give a shit about compression any more since they don't have to.
Different dialogs for all of the pronouns add up quite a lot.
Remember when one of the core fundamentals of good game design was efficient code optimization and lossless texture compression?
Why would you compress stuff so much when it increases asset loading times and a 4TB HDD costs less than $100?
Texture compression is a pain in the ass if you can mod the game.
Just remove all the character customization since the playerbase just wants the most boring generic model anyway
Honest question, WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT GAME SIZE?!
Game storage space is finite.
So you uninstall one of the other games and install the new one.
Sorry, I don't want my drive to die twice as fast as it normally would.
lmao dude I have a 500gb SSD that is 6+ years old and still has a drive health of 95%+, get real
>he thinks SSD is gonna die anytime soon from installing/uninstalling games often
This is on par with the morons from Ganker who think SSDs are evil.
Ganker cookies are literally raping your ssd as we speak
you're losing money by posting right now
>So you uninstall one of the other games and install the new one.
One? A 100GB game is like the equivalent of 5-10+ games.
>nooooo I need a thousand tiny indie games on my computer at the same time
buy a single terabyte hard drive and stop whining
>noooo the heckin' corporations! don't criticize untalented hacks! just slurp up that diarrhea like me!
buy a single noose and stop living
>getting this worked up over video game size
embarrassing, ask your mommy for a new hard drive so you can untwist those panties
>1080/720p peasants once again seething over devs actually giving players HD textures that work up to 4k
Piss off homosexuals. no one likes poorgays
Size bloat culprit is almost always audio, especially for multi-language releases of dialogue heavy games

So you can see every last detail of the tree's bark
game already requires 100gb, what are they talking about?
>to 104GB
>Space Required: 100.22GB
It's increasing by 4GB!
can't be a big patch then
my favorite is this shit (it happened with poe)
>20gb for patch
>25gb free
>for some reason i actually need 40gb
Loved this shit when trying to Update some giant game like cod warzone on a ps4 with 500gb... basically needed 200gb for updating
>80% of it is uncompressed audio
Every fricking time.yd2jp
games over 20gb need to be federally banned
>earl access for a decade
Fricking wienersuckers I lost all the respect I had for them. I want divinity fallen heroes you fricking lazy Bastards
it's already 100 GB installed, so I guess they're not adding much.

>install battlefront 2
>90gb
>install battlefield V
>90gb
they do it on purpose
This, its literally companies doing it to frick with consoles so you dont uninstall their shit
that what happens when they outsource games to pajeets to develop, they don't optimize and don't compress because they don't care, it benefits the hardware companies too so gays buy more storage and more powerful gpus.

i don't care anymore
this game is fricking shit. what are the odds of someone making a mod where dice rolls are normalized into hard numbers? because it's literally unplayable as it is now.
It's been a decade and I'm still mad about Max Payne 3 requiring 30+GB.
Check what Guerilla did to Horizon audio quality to make it fit 64gb.
Baldurs gate 3 also does not reuse assets or textures.
Better question is why there frick Inquisitor: Martyr is over 100gb.
>40k game developer cannot code for shit
Imagine my shock
Also uncompressed textures and huge lossless audio for the 1% of audiophiles with 7.1
Also runs sub 90fps on 2070s despite being top down looter shooter.
>Having more than 10 or so games installed at once
Stop hoarding. Uninstall games that you aren't actively playing.

Added bonus with many countries still having datacaps
