Literally happens in 1/3 of all horror games except for old games because they knew that was moronic
notes and audio recordings of someone being eaten is a joke because arguably they would stop at a certain word and have blood all over the note or would scream in such a way that almost no actor could ever possibly do
SCPhomosexuals getting cucked out of the few cool designs they originally had is poetic justice. Old Man, lizard, and 173 all look like dogshit now and I couldnt be happier
Fricking troony admins
>"You have, one, new message." >"Thank God, we finally got through! Something strange is happening! The military arrived and has forced everyone to evacuate. I saw one man attacked by a woman, she was covered in blood and tried to bite him! Listen, if we don't get home, I love you very much..."
The notes have little to no info at all and anything leaves you with questions
and if the person dies
they die right before important info only for you to have to hunt for it
Untalented developers don't have to work hard making relatable, fleshed out characters to deliver the dialogue when you can just write some tiny excerpts to sprinkle about the place under the cover of "deep lore."
It started with System Shock when the developers wanted an RPG with no NPCs. They settled with everyone being dead and leaving their last known blog update. This added a feeling of isolation while still providing story. Since then, future horror games have been trying to capture that tone.
I love it when the note's author writes some spooky line like "IT ATE HIM" and the decides to just continue writing it another 5 times to mimick his "racing thoughts".
Handwritten note:
>I can hear them outside my room
>OMG they have broken it!
>AHHHHHH they're eating me alive AHHHHHH
Never happened in the history of horror games

>He who is valiant and pure of spirit... may find the Holy Grail... in the Castle of Aaargh.
maybe it was dictated
Because everyone but Bethesda are hacks and can't do environmental storytelling for shit.
>here's your new 173 bro

Allows the game to give the player information without ruining the feeling of isolation.
I actively leave notes about what is happening at exactly that time just in case I'm murdered by some horrible monstrosity.

Alright anon, how would YOU do this trope correctly?

enemy is a shapeshifter and someone got the brilliant idea to attach a sticky note to each and every not enemy object
I think that was a thing in prey.
Correct.
