>I just find the combat extremely boring
this. A buddy bought me the entire game with all the DLC and I couldn't even manage to play it for more than a week. Tab targeting is a curse, and I get that this isn't a popular opinion, but games like New World and BDO are objectively more fun and engaging simply because of action-based combat.
You start out with 10k HP and a sword that does 1200 DPS
Your gear for the first half of the game is so tiny and incremental even at level 10 I’m finding swords that do 1235 DPS because again, the scaling is fricking moronic.
Also somehow they managed to make combat more floaty and less impactful than Skyrim.
The art direction, design and aesthetics put me off at release. Shit was looking like a generic fantasy game and not an Elder Scrolls. Dunmers turned into fantasy_dark_elves#4602. Their architecture and armor looked like looked like ripped asset from a mediocre DnD bootleg fangame.
Combat was terrible (again, at release, never went back to the game and don't know how much it changed since)
Sense of exploration, which is one of the primary asset of Elder Scrolls games, was botched. Mob respawn was near-instantaneous, which made sense for a MMO so you don't have to wait too long for a quest target/boss to respawn, but that kills any sense of achievement and exploration. You clear a place, feel like you did something good, but you don't even have time to snoop around that all the mob re-popped already.
It felt nothing like an Elder Scrolls game, basically. It felt like a generic action-adventure game with mediocre combat.
I just started playing it yesterday actually. I was having fun until I got to Betnikh. Do these devs actually expect me to sympathize with these savage Black person Orcs?
It's not just being allied with them that's the problem though. They are openly celebrating colonizing and slaughtering the race that my character is and the game just keeps telling me how it's okay because they are honourable warriors. They insult my characters race infront of him and celebrate slaughtering his people, but there's no dialogue option or anything to tell them to frick off. If the questline ends with killing all the Orcs and taking the island back for the Bretons then I'll forgive it, but if not holy shit.
Not him but pvp is fricking moronic, even more the people who play it, has to be the most dogshit pvp experience of any mmo. instead of a hamfisted war you should just be able to enter arenas in most cities for duels or small scale fights.

Battlegrounds offers 4 vs 4 vs 4 and you can duel anyone anywhere if you don't enjoy large scale pvp
Frick off, Orsimer are well written and unironically have a lot of depth with their religious and cultural background. They're fleshed out really well in Orsinium.
I just started playing this again since launch. I feel like I'm enjoying it more than I used to but Sorc is kinda boring. I'll probably reroll as an elf supremacist but I can't decide:
Necromancer. Templar is extra easy mode when playing solo but you only use a couple skills.

I guess I should be more specific. It's tab targeting pasted over action based combat. It feels exactly like every single tab targeting game and attacks are able to hit something from around the corner because you've locked onto them. It is tab targeting with an action based bandaid on it and it shows. Compare that to New World or BDO and you'll understand what I mean
Fair enough, I haven't played MMOs much in the last decade so the action ones have probably surpassed what I once knew as being standard "action-based MMOs."
MMOs are lowest common denominator trash, that's why. If they made an MMO with good combat, it would be too much for the normies and soccer moms they sell subscriptions to. Capitalism is disastrous for video games.
It's alright for an MMO. I think it suffers most for being built on the hero engine and the spamminess of skills isn't very fun for combat. The thieving aspect of the game is cool though I wish more MMOs had ways to interact with the world like that.
No one hates it. It's just that no one gives a shit because the playerbase isn't autistic and will ban you from guilds for playing other MMO's.
*is autistic
I just find the combat extremely boring. Also Skyrim is a co-op version of Skyrim now.
The multiplayer mod for Skyrim is godawful and barely fricking works

The combat pulls the entire game down with it.
Combatwise, it's kind of underwhelming. But it's better than most mmorgps like Destiny and Final Fantasy. I'm glad its niche.
Because the scaling is completely fricked.

skyrim is shit enough without being full of trannies and morons
They ruined it with level scaling, the combat is bad, the classes are pretty boring, and it has a stupid amount of DLC/lootboxes/microtransactions.

>Combat is bad
Filtered big time. How can you play Skyrim and think the combat in ESO is shit? Are you all literally playing one hit stealth archers?
Never played Skyrim but weaving is stupid as hell and the melee has zero impact or weight behind it.
i get on and run dungeons but thats it. overhaul combat and i would play it more
because vanilla skyrim sucks. also i had no one to play with so the multiplayer aspect was lost on me
>takes everything you've learned about TES and says
>FRICK THAT
>PAY ME
Prove me wrong.
I just started playing it yesterday actually. I was having fun until I got to Betnikh. Do these devs actually expect me to sympathize with these savage Black person Orcs?
>join the faction allied with orcs
>get surprised when the main quest has you help orcs
based moron
Can't expect much more from a blueberry tbh.

Welcome to mmo's that aren't rpg's (all of them)
they raped the lore to justify having a WoW style faction war, so none of the factions except the aldmeri dominion make any sense
Not that I disagree, but what would you have done?

dont worry, the place gets genocided by bretons in a few hundred years

The first 15 or so levels are fun but then the mmo part really starts to rear its ugly head
All they had to do was make skyrim but multiplayer, "mmo design" caused this to he stillborn

ESO is action-based combat.

tes3mp is better
>old internet slang
where did it all go wrong
They complain about the combat, but I'm hard-pressed to think of an active MMO with better combat.
MMOs are lowest common denominator trash, that's why. If they made an MMO with good combat, it would be too much for the normies and soccer moms they sell subscriptions to. Capitalism is disastrous for video games.
MMO mechanics instead of TES mechanics.
