Everything is battle passes, ranked climb, FOMO, manipulative algorithms, skin economy, anticonsumer practices, deceptive marketing, prolonging gametime, bad mechanics, etc.

Stop playing AAA multiplayer slop and aim for indie and/or single player experiences instead.

Singleplayer games, mostly. Baldur's Gate 3 is actually insanely good.

Pizza Tower was a real breath of fresh air. Helldivers claims to have a battle pass, but it's technically free and also lasts forever once it's added so it's like a fake battlepass.

        Streets of Rage 4
N64 games like Starfox 64, Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time

Modern, Souls, Elden Ring was fun. Pizza Tower was bretty gud, Western indies can usually produce some fun, Nintendo still focuses on fun.

A shit ton of retro, anything from SNES/Genesis to PS2/GCN is generally good and there's a frick ton games to go back on. DOOM (classic), Rayman Trilogy, most of Nintendo and SEGA's first party offerings from back then, a metric ton of JRPGs Chrono/Breath of Fire/Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Megaman. Bomberman, 64 is fricking great.
Not discounting NES and back, but it's a lot easier imo to find a fun game from SNES/Gen-GCN/PS2.

There's too much bullshit in modern gaming, especially online multiplayer that I seldom trust anything Western-made that isn't indie. Japan's slowly getting there too now.

Why are you playing bad games? I almost exclusively play single player games that are 10+ years old, you never have any forced daily grind, no microtransactions, and as a bonus don't need a 4080 to get a playable framerate at medium settings

Wtf are you even playing? If you want pure gameplay, try Balatro. Most big publishers have been chasing the live service dragon for the past few years. There are a lot of good games in the last 2 years, but it depends on what you're looking for and what you event want out of games in general.

    Anything with:
    >time locked seasonal content that you want
    >competing for gear against other players
    >unlocking things by playing to remain competitive
    >farming for rare drops (especially among other players)
    >an excessive time investment required to even learn how the game works
Risks becoming more about the grind than about the gameplay. Play things without these arbitrary restrictions, or make sure that you actually enjoy the game while you're playing it, without waiting for the endorphins of these meaningless victories against nothing.

The Normalgay recoils at the sight of pixel graphics or obscure genres.
His toenails bend backwards when he sees the name of a small indie studio or the icon of a emulater.
The normalgay refuses to explore outside of his self made prison and still moans about his confinement.

There are literally hundreds of options to choose from, just dive in. It's like there are several lakes to choose from and you just need to check if there is trash or shit on the shoreline before you jump in.

I don't know if Steam still has the recommendation queue it once had, I could spend a whole bunch of time just being fed recommendations based on what I already had in my library. It was the easiest way to find new stuff to look into.

I would advise against expecting people to spoonfeed you everything, find that inner curiosity within you and start exploring.
