You're playing the English dub and not in Spanish, that's why.

True, a lot is lost on translation. Platforming felt a bit off but I played on release, the real criticism is [...] - the gameplay was too shallow and didn't feel weighty enough outside bosses IMO. They really should have implemented a combo system like Guacamelee or added more weapons with different movesets.
>dude you just be a Hispanic to enjoy the game
Is this serious?
>amazing pixel art >decent level design >no character growth
the problem with this game is the beginning of the game is too similar to the end of the game, you never really gain new abilities or weapon variations, the abilities you do get don't alter the gameplay much at all, so it feels samey through out the entire journey
uniroincally yes considering most of the move upgrades are trash. why give me a charge shot and restrict my movement? why give me combo extenders when you need to parry most enemies? why give me a dive attack that just leaves me vulnerable to counterhit since most enemies are health sponges? thank frick for the charge attack it feels like the only good move in the game. seeing how hard this game rides castlevania you'd think they would have thrown in a whip even for the meme or something. this game is begging for a double jump or a grapple hook type accessory also.
While I do quite love the game, this is a solid criticism of the game. It's a shame because with all the prayers at your disposal it could be possible to get that, but you're restricted to just one at a time and have to go through a menu to change them out. It would be nice if you could have 3 or even just 2 "equipped" that you could then cycle through. I found myself enjoying the combat more on NG+ playthroughs when I had access to the beads that gave me passive fervor regen so I could use the prayer abilities more. The problem is that with the ability to only equip one at a time without constantly opening up the menu, I found myself using the damage immunity one 90% of the time besides using the Debula of Lights for select bosses/enemies to nuke.
on paper, I should have loved Blasphemous, but I just was annoyed by it by the end.
- backtracking was frustrating + slow. I somehow didnt unlock the fast travel until very late, which I think was my fault
- a lot of the music is moody but somehow the loops get fricking annoying. i started muting the game every time i had to backtrack through sewers.
- moving through the map was good when it relied on tough enemy encounters; bad when it relied on traversal (sewers, that cold windy area)
- too few checkpoints for the number of death pits (yeah i know i’m a scrub. i just don’t think the save points matched the game design.)
- it feels JANKY. i played at launch and then a few years later. this kind of 2.5D platforming never feels good to me because platform hit boxes are ambiguous; and then there was unidenitifiable jank in player movement. feels bad.
i liked a lot of blasphemous, but other people are making those points.
My first impression was that, somehow, the Amiga made a comeback. Not sure what you're gagging on about. Maybe just start cutting into your throat with a rusty can opener for fun or something. Dunno.
>hate metroidvania gameplay >fricking hate pixelshit with all my being >love everything else about the game
I want to like this game so much but I just can't. Frick pixelshit.
its an okay+ game.
very cool designs, nice looking graphics almost everywhere, except for some rooms which just look akward.
gameplay is decent. it's worth a playthrough
it's a shame that so many 2d sidescrollers metroidvania games have boring platforming sections.
this, hollow knight, more..
>boring platforming sections
i meant boring platforming (this makes the platforming sections boring).
2d platformer games with bad platforming are such slogs, Blasphemous was no exception..
I could give less of a shit about the story, all this lore and story and it's just an inferior version of Hollow knights >Holy infection spreads across the land and causes suffering
Radiance/High wills create the plague/miracle that spread across the land. The false ending has the Pertinent one/knight become the new vessel for the plague/miracle while the true ending has them kill them and end it.
I know there's differences but overall it hits the same beats
Let it be known that the eternal anglo is forever filtered.
>penitent one
I cringed a lot qhen i heard this because it felt like a ds3 ripoff
Asides from that is a fine game, i guess a lot of the voice acting is lost in translation

Yeah, I don't know what he's talking about. It felt like all upgrades except the ranged attack were pointless. Never found a good spot to use anything except the main combo/parry/ranged attack. The only time I used the up attack on combo was against one of those statue enemies in the 2nd half of the game, but there's like 3 of them total so yeah.
I don't know, I feel like this game was tailor made for me but I couldn't finish it. Everything just feels so repetitive and the backtracking is awful.
wot in the bloody 'ell are you on about lad? it's soul, simple as
What gave you the impression that it's supposed to be authentic?
because you're not spanish and you just don't get it.
I'm spanish and I didn't get a single thing.
how in the frick can you call yourself a spaniard falangist if you don't comprehend spanish catholicism
You are probably a moronic zoomer totally pozzed by American "culture", there's no hope for you.
>dude you just be a Hispanic to enjoy the game
Is this serious?
you don't need to be spanish, you just need to be able to appreciate the culture it's steeped in

why the frick is there only one weapon???
LET ME GUESS, YOU "NEED" MORE

In Spanish, the MC is called Penitente. It sounds much better during dialogue.
It just kept making the think of The Last Crusade.

how did you misinterpret the story this hard wtf
Radiance/High wills create the plague/miracle that spread across the land. The false ending has the Pertinent one/knight become the new vessel for the plague/miracle while the true ending has them kill them and end it.

>new content is ng+ only
>still have to get health/fervour upgrades again
I'm just gonna wait for the sequel instead.
why the frick do you need to do a regular air attack before using down thrust
you can just hold it though
yes, and?
you still need to waste time on the air slash
like .001 seconds
on top of an already long ass starting animation
this is a basic move, it shouldn't be this clunky
Hold it
does "hold" mean something else in spanish?
No. Not even in slang or regional dialects
then what am I missing?
far as I'm aware holding anything doesn't get rid of the useless extra attack
Yeah, I don't know what he's talking about. It felt like all upgrades except the ranged attack were pointless. Never found a good spot to use anything except the main combo/parry/ranged attack. Every time I see the kisses of mending people I think of this.
compared to what? it was just a videogame, what the frick do you think it was trying to accomplish?
I don't know, I feel like this game was tailor made for me but I couldn't finish it. Everything just feels so repetitive and the backtracking is awful.
When the FRICK do you get the double jump anyway?
Catholic imagery is cool as frick.
As above, So Below was also the best movie I've watched in years.
Dishonest game making.
