Game is stable if you use the nvse, engine fix mods, nvtf, heap replacer, and onetweak.

I run like 40 active plugins and that includes TTW and the someguy series. Doesn’t really crash. Dead Money might still crash when moving between a certain cell, but I haven’t seen it do that lately.

why did they leave the game in this state for 14 years

I dunno. It used to crash all the time long after they stopped patching it, even with performance fixes like the stutter remover, and especially after your save file reached a certain size (oh, forgot another essential mod: file size bloat fix). Nowadays its a ridiculously stable game.

What do you mean "leave it"? It's an old PC game. It's not their responsibility to update it to be compatible with hardware and operating systems that didn't even exist at the time. Jury rigging old games to work is an honored past time in PC gaming, why the frick is it this ONE title that people act like it's such a big fricking deal that you need to install like a megabyte's worth of mods to be stable? It's not like you dipshits run bethesda's garbage totally vanilla right? Fallout 3 can't even fricking boot without mods, and every one of these games needs an unofficial patch to unfrick the scripts on ~10% of the quests and locations.

You can by the original thief and system shock games on steam. You can buy Gothic 1 and 2 and Arx Fatalis. You try to play that shit out of the box with no tweaks or mods.

Contractual obligations, probably. Or just the lack of money from continuing to work on it. Josh Sawyer made his own hardcore mod that nerfed some stuff and rebalanced the game with changes that might've been planned but didn't have enough time to work with in the timeframe of the game's development, like lowering the level cap to 35 (from 50) and reducing the base carry weight to 50 (from 150), or making the Courier Stash weapons scattered across the game rather than given at the start, or fixing In Shining Armor so that it works and so on.
It's kind of a cross between "here are some changes that we didn't think most players would enjoy that much, especially Fallout 3 fans" and "here's a lot of fixes and oversights that weren't shipped to the base game, for some reason".
Merging parts of the Jsawyer mod (mostly the oversight and bug fixes) would probably be easy but by now they'd probably need to go through a lengthy process to get permission from the higher-ups to update the game since they're owned by Microsoft.

Also, Willow is from a technical standpoint very entertaining and Bethesda essentially ripped off a crappy, stripped down facsimile of her systems for their companion system in 4.

You're both autists with the inability to put yourself in the shoes who's new to the game. It's easily two hours, and that's a generous estimate. Trying to sift through old and new information and downloads trying to find the right versions alone is 2 hours, not even getting into installing them. You get tricked by trannis into playing a buggy and unfinished piece of shit that was never fully patched. That's all.

Run it through dxvk and use the tick fix, also use the 4GB exe patcher

Do not use NVAC, it hasn't been updated in 8 years and introduces an infinite loading bug and gradual save corruption

Where is the proof that NVAC causes save corruption and infinite loading? I use it and I haven’t had that problem on saves going for 120 hours. How does it do that? Is it constantly spamming pcb or what?

    >NO NO NO ITS A GOOD GAME BUT (YOU) HAVE TO INSTALL THIS SCRIPTING MOD, AND THEN THIS ENGINE MOD, THEN THIS RAM UNLOCK MOD, THEN THIS FRAMERATE MOD, THEN THIS BUGFIX MOD, THEN THIS ANTI CRASH MOD, THEN THIS PATCH MOD, THEN THIS SAVE FILE MOD, AND YOU HAVE TO SET UP THIS SHORTCUT, FIX THE LOAD ORDER, AND ADD THIS LINE TO YOUR .INI FILE SO THAT YOUR CURSOR WONT BE TOO SENSITIVE, AND THEN...

I used Project Nevada and Stutter Remover back in the early 2010s. Reading that Viva New Vegas guide, it turns out both of those mods made the game even more unstable. I'm generally against remakes but New Vegas needs it just so it won't crash after 1 hour of playtime.

I put another 80 hours in last year and it didn't crash once.
This shit is like reading teen-me trying to mod Oblivion back when there were no handholding guides and snazzy mod managers.

The problem is it’s not a 64 bit game so it’s limited to 4gb RAM, you need to download a mod

    Oh boy.
At least DXVK x32 made it launch, still FPS is awful and mouse sensitivity is out of wack 10k DPI or more.

PC has no backwards compatibility lmao

      >PC has no backwards compatibility
The permanent stuttering and constant crashes in New Vegas were present since the game was released. Most games from that time are still fully playable. This only goes to show that NV trannies only bring shame and dishonor to PC gaming.

        >PC has no backwards compatibility
Ignoring the fact that it's about NV, I'd agree. I mean, good luck playing games from Win95 and DOS

And then I remember how you can play Quake 2 as is on modern systems even though it was released in 1998 for Win98... Damn, Carmack is just a god, ok?

And then I remember some more. Okay, nvm, that Black person sucks wieners. It's not the platform, it's the engine and the developers of each game. Assassin's Creed (the first one) is literally unplayable today for some reason

I have YUP, Unofficial Patch, Zan Autopurge, NVAC, and the 4GB patch and that seems to be enough to limit it to only hard crashing every few hours even with 100+ mods installed

Wht don't I have the platinum chip? I killed Caesar and Benny but I can't activate the weather station bunker. It's not on their corpses.

Depending on the timing of when and how you killed caesar, it may be being held in the chest at the foot of the camp (with the guy that takes your weapons) or in the weather station bunker itself

Nobody took my weapons since I killed the boat guy and traveled to the camp myself and killed everyone on sight.

I had the same exact issue on my windows 11 PC.

You need to install a nexus mod "FNV 4GB Patcher"

You are welcome, don't forget to tip.

    Memory Leak
This is just an inherent problem with the game engine itself.
