It won't be on Game pass until 2025 as that's when Sony's deal with Activision expires. Microsoft have also said both platforms will have feature parity. Microsoft may get advertising priorities, but no system will get exclusive content or bonuses

Because they have to get a 1080p version out on SEries S, that means the game comes out at least able to hit approximately 4K on the stronger systems.
Without the Series S, the X and PS5 versions of games would be targeting 2K, or even 1080p
That would be true and cool so long as said lazy devs don't see snoy's high market share and higher retail adoption rate and shrug as they quietly skip xbox.

Sticking to their guns of making sure everything runs like shit at a low resolution on the PS5 means missing out on all xbox sales because there are still multiple millions of xboxs out there. Series S memory issues, most likely
The likely issue is that when you're in split screen, each player is in a different part of the map and the console has to keep some portion of both in memory. My guess is that while the memory cost of one area isn't too high (let's say maybe 7 gigabytes), the cost of two is more than the Series S can do currently (it would double to about 14 GB, in this example).
If Microsoft is working with them, my guess is the solution is going to involve Sampler Feedback Streaming to trim the memory cost of areas by having most of what the camera can't see offloaded

It's not even that it's just a current gen system targeting 1080p, it's the fact they fricked it by using a completely different hardware set up to the XSX, thus creating different bottlenecks and completely missing rendering capabilities compared to the main console.
If they'd just taken an XSX and scaled back the GPU and RAM to fit the rendering target, they'd still have some difficulties due to doubling the amount of development and QA time needed, but at least it wouldn't make certain games next to impossible to downscale properly for it.
