No. PLA is one of the only good games they've made in fricking years.

BDSP was great though. It had most of the Platinum stuff, new stuff and fixed most of the "flaws" associated with Sinnoh; HMs and slow HP bars

yep, would have sold way more if it was an actual remake. possibly they knew this and why they made it shit, because it would outperform and make a mockery of their latest gen 8
Incredible base game.
Gen 1 was a badly designed mess even on the 2nd try, they were still learning.
Gen 2 was greatly improved, but still shackled too strongly to Gen 1.
Gen 3 they started to finally get into designing the games well, and refining mechanics.
Gen 4 they brought it all together and created the best core Pokemon game they've ever made.
There really hasn't been any big innovations in the game since Gen 4, just expanding on the already existing mechanics and adding and dropping gimmicks.
Horde battles was a nice mechanics that they brought in and out, but hasn't stayed in the game. Hopefully they bring it back, again
