in any case Gen II competitive is the absolute worst (if not Gen VIII) and the numbers reflect that
Only because Smogon balances the other metas by removing broken pokemken so that can be playable. gen2 is the only Gen that they refuse to fix. If any other pokemon were as overcentralizing as Gen2 Snorlax, it would have been banned from OU on the first day.
SmogonBlack folk don't know what's broken and what isn't, they ban based off what personally irritates them.
Snorlax isn't even the main reason why Gen II OU sucks, it's Rest-Talk which is built into the game. If Sleep Talk couldn't call Rest then half of the stally problems would disappear instantly.

GSC was good for its time
HGSS sins were not fixing the level curve, and only fixing some encounters with the safari instead of making them more organic, not giving leech seed to chikorita as a level up move, removing the ability to buy coins for voltorb flip and making rematches against leaders rather obtuse, that's all I legitimately criticize about these games
Orre is fine for a gc game it did well enough, people are just not used to doubles taking more time
