Why does the "git gud" meme persist when the actual truth is "git lvls"? I never overcame anything in these games by "learning" or "trial and error" - just getting leveled enough that I can tank and deal enough damage to win.

Level 1 run is infinitely more satisfying than anything you’ve done in your life
Lmao did not expect this level of seethe.. How does it make you feel that I've never parried once in a souls game and just use two handed heavy weapons to break everything's poise?
i never use it as well. i even forget parrying is a mechanic until some guy does it on me during invasions or fight clubs. you're nothing special, man. you're just one of us
tbh it does feel like I'm pretty much missing half the games but I hate the enemies so much I just want to no nonsense hit them hard as frick
no, you're not missing anything. if anything, we're the ones who are right here
I’ve done a regular SL1 with the pyromancy, it was alright I guess. I tried one of those meme “you did beat the game” runs at SL1/WL1 longsword without any resin, any spells, no armor or shield just me and the longsword. There I almost quit at O&S before locking in and winning after what felt like a 20 minute attempt. I did the DLC and Kalameet too but I dropped it at Four Kings. I didn’t even try many attempts at it I just didn’t return to it because I knew it was gonna suck. So yeah I still haven’t beaten DS1 after all these years.
you're almost there anon I believe in you!!!
I've done a DS3 level 1 run but when I try to do DS1 level 1 run I get bored after Oreo and Smores... because DS1
gay
Because it's still always the answer?
>Ugh how do i beat (boss)
>just git gudder
Why does the “git lvls” meme persist when the actual truth is “git coding”? I never overcame anything in these games by leveling up - I simply modified the assembly code of the executable to allow me to noclip to the final boss and one shot it
Levels will never save a shitter.
>lvls
this Black person peasant did not beat the game.
Git gud homosexual
hahahahahahahakekeke why am I laughing, holy frick this board is so mentally ill hahahahahahahfrickhahahahah I'm actually lauughinh out loud
You don't have to level up to beat the game though, I've done a "onebro" run before and you learn that planning and learning boss tactic is really the silver bullet of the game. It isn't hard, you just don't know what's happening
Yeah sure if you're doing a level 1 run then the answer is to git gud but that's not how it's intended to be played
But grinding souls against mobs to simply outlevel any content is intended gameplay?
wut
I'm not talking about some mob farming strat, it's how the game is designed. If you were supposed to level 1 it then there wouldn't be souls or levels or stats at all. Half the motivation to persist is retrieving your souls and making it to a bonfire to level up just like the only peril with dying is losing them
SL1 wouldn't make this any harder it would just take 45 minutes.
japanese games outside of fighting games don't actually have any depth to them, souls games are no exception. It's why if you've ever made builds for pvp you sprint through the entire game with little trouble. There's no actual challenge in souls games, the only challenge is you making a conscious decision to fight every enemy on their own terms because you think that's how they designed the game when in reality they don't even play their own games
>Why does the "git gud" meme persist
Because gamers have had their hands held for so long, that they think that a game that is moderately difficult is the peak of difficulty.
They've never played a NES game or an arcade game.
Literally this. Look at all the Fromcucks getting mad as frick. I just started playing it again and found it to be kinda boring.
You notice there's zero FUN webms of this game? Literally the only webm is someone riding an elevator and acting like that makes a good game.
That's because DS is a meme game with people dickriding over the artificial difficulty. You can remove safety nets on a lot of games and you would have literally any Soulsborne game. They're not fun. I haven't even gotten to Blighttown yet and wondering where the frick all the fun is at.
>wondering where the frick all the fun is at
Based on how people talk about the game? Making fun of people online, is the fun part.
The genre is alright. Very overrated.
Are the rest of From's games like that? If so then I'll just finish DS once and throw it in the "overrated shit not worth playing more than once" pile. A lot of Ganker's favorite games are like that.
>Are the rest of From's games like that?
The entire genre is called Souls-like or SoulsBorne. They biggest change you get is the Souls games are more "defensive" while Bloodborne encourages you to be more "offensive". didnt play nioh, or any of the others, but they're all more or less the same thing, with more of a focus on this element or that element, allowing for a slightly different gameplay experience.
But they're all basically the same, if you're not thrilled with one, it's unlikely that another will change your mind.
journey to and from blighttown is my favorite part
On my first playthrough, the first boss I died to was Queelag. I died to three more bosses in Demon Ruins / Lost Izalith. Fricking demons. No one's impressed about your crawling around pulling one enemy at a time, homosexual. And if you're not learning by trial and error constantly, and you're not doing the above either, then you're making the gravest sin of all and looking online ahead of time you absolute tripleBlack person, begone from my sight
>REEEEEE NO YOU JUST CANT PLAY THE WAY YOU WANT *autistic screeching*
kek holy shit you homosexuals are embarrassing
>game based on challenging playthrough
>you decide to cheese it
>and then go online to brag about how ez it is
do i need to beg you to have a nice day or what's it gonna take, you tell me homosexual
>REEE *more autistic screeching for puristgay*
kwab
Sneed
malding, dilating, seething, and cope all in 2 neat posts. anything else babe?
don't get hit, homosexual.
Is every Soulsborne thread this shit?
>do X
>no you can't play it like that
>do Y
>no you can't play it like that
>do Z
>NO YOU CAN'T PLAY IT LIKE THAT
The sad truth is people want the high of their first run. But they'll never have it again. So you're forced to play in a way that ties your hands behind your back in an effort to make things challenging. But the truth is that the game wasn't entirely hard, that it threw many resources at you as long as you explored, all of which help make the game even easier, and people started understanding more mechanics that made understanding how to play the game easier. This is on top of it being a game that encouraged you to talk to others, so people who share whatever secrets they could find. Even after all this, you still have the ability to grind if you so want, and upgrading armor only helps even more. Nothing in the game punishes you for this behavior, because the devs wanted you to do what it takes to win.
the REAL reason unlike that tl;dr someone gave you is that soulsborne games are genuinely full of anti-fun homosexuals. someone doing a level 1 challenge? NOOO YOU CANT BECAUSE UM.. ITS NOT PART OF THE CHALLENGE!!
I once tuned in to a prominent Dark Souls streamer who was playing ds1 and was in the area just under the main hub with the ghosts. The main difficulty of that area is that it's really dark, so it's hard to see what's about to kill you.
However, the streamer had his in-game brightness set to the absolute max such that you could see from one end of the area to the other and everything inbetween clearly and without difficulty.
It was at the point that I realized that Souls players don't actually like the challenge of these games, they just like the prestige of pretending that they do.
I'm pretty sure that 99% of people who talk about sl1 runs have never done one, and have simply watched a youtube do one.
Has it ever occurred to you that maybe, just maybe, people play video games for fun and none of these games are fun for most people? Also, the game being too dark is not good design. I have an OLED laptop and that game is genuinely too fricking dark to see at times without doing anything gamma adjustments.
I understand that, but the game has game's gamma adjustment tells you to adjust it till you can't see the black square it doesn't want you to see, because that's the level of visibility that's intended.
If Casual Dave turns it up to the max cause that's how he likes it, that's perfectly fine.
If '3lit3 epic s0uls gam4r xxx' turns it up to the max to make it easier and then goes on social media to berate everyone for not gitting gud, then it just exposes the truth about rabid Souls fans - they don't actually like the difficulty they claim to, they just like the prestige of it,

Big-dick gamer who has done a ton of acclaimed difficulty things across multiple types of games. It's not just dark souls. This is in EVERYTHING. We get those people in NES games.
Levels don't really influence much you know. It's barely past SOTN level of levels not mattering. It's all about equipment. You can EASILY beat this game at Level 1 because of certain equipment.
Git gud was a meme because gfwl was broken as frick and if you remember playing DaS on pc it was horrible.
Except for very low it's not realistic to out scale the stuff. You either have not played or did not play very far. Eventually 10 levels adds no significant amount of health or damage. And how high you can rank up your gear is hard capped by where are you because of reagent drop tables.
Why are you still shitposting about this game 13 years after it came out?
These are the people telling you Dark Souls is good.
What in the actual frick is this?
to be fair, ICO saved miyazaki's life and it made him quit everything to start working on demon's souls
Yeah but he doesn't make youtube videos about it.
ICO was a great game though, maybe he should have done that.
