It's not the element that's doing the damage, that's just a supplement. When a Pokemon uses a Fire Punch, it's not the fire that's doing the damage, it's the punch. The fire is just a side effect.
>using Lick as an example of anything
If we're doing that, then Gust (literally かぜおこし) should be special because it's wind, not physical because it's Flying type, or even worse Normal in Gen 1.
Similarly, Twister, another move that is wind based in naming, is also physical because it's the only Dragon type move.
>mythical creature that doesn't actually exist is special >normal animal that are found everywhere in real life isn't special
Seems intuitive to me. Maybe your IQ is just too low.
Both systems make sense and are intuitive once you learn how they work, which takes like 10 minutes of research when you first start playing the game. Learning type matchups takes longer and is more complicated than this.
If you have trouble with physical/special moves in either pre or post split, consider seeing a doctor, you might even be able to get welfare checks for your condition.
Its ok to be wrong anon, old special/split was pants on head moronic at times, and while yes it doesnt take too long to readjust to it when playing the old games now, it doesn't make it any less moronic
The fire part is what hurts more. It's like if you threw a molotov at me, the whole "AAAIIIEE IM ON FIRE" is way more pressing to me then the less painful impact of a think glass bottle thrown at my back.
categories being assigned to types favors stall. >Before Gen 4 Blissey did not have a care in the world for any of those special types >After Gen 4 Blissey has to respect Flare Blitz, Wood Hammer, Wild Charge, Outrage, and Crunch >Additionally Blissey now has to worry about special attackers now using Focus Blast against it >Flipside for Skarmory >Pokemon with shitty STABs opposite of their main attacking stat are now much stronger due to effectively using their new found STABs off their higher attacks
with shitty STABs opposite of their main attacking stat are now much stronger due to effectively using their new found STABs off their higher attacks
Everyone just spams Close Combat now lol. Honestly bring real here GF fricked both systems up due to their general incompetence in design and balance.
Why is Poison and Ghost not Special.
It's a completely nonsensical and unintuitive system
>conjuring up a ball of dark energy is somehow physical???
>biting with your teeth is somehow special???
>magic/elemental attacks are special
>attacks based on real material properties are physical
Seems intuitive to me. Maybe your IQ is just too low.
Real material properties like Ghosts?
>Real material properties like licking?
Yes.
>elemental moves are special
Yes. Where's the issue?
It's not the element that's doing the damage, that's just a supplement. When a Pokemon uses a Fire Punch, it's not the fire that's doing the damage, it's the punch. The fire is just a side effect.
>it's not the fire that's doing the damage
Yes it is. Otherwise grass Pokemon wouldn't be weak to it.
If the fire was the source of damage, then there's no reason to ever use Fire Punch instead of something like Flamethrower
How do I teach Flamethrower to my Hitmonchan?
>using Lick as an example of anything

Wind is a physical force. Dragon is a mythical special energy. It's not that hard to understand.
>Dragon is a mythical special energy
and ghosts are mythical SPRITIAL entities, yet that typing is physical
>Wind is a physical force.
Water is more physical than air, yet Water was a special type
Dont tell him ice is also a special type
>Water is more physical than air,
Water is an element. Wind is just a physical force.
>move based on energy mythical creature is special
>move based on physical comet is physical
the only thing special is you if you think claws aren't physical.
>Dragon is somehow elemental but bugs aren't
Um... Hoenngay?
>mythical creature that doesn't actually exist is special
>normal animal that are found everywhere in real life isn't special
Seems intuitive to me. Maybe your IQ is just too low.
>ah yes I love those ghosts are are everywhere, and im so glad evil is just a fairytale
>spiritual entities that don't actually is physical
Woah, I did it too, oversightgay
NTA but you cant say this without genuinely lying when both ghost and poison are physical and dark is special in this case
Biting is not magical/elemental
Shadow energy is not a material property
Both systems make sense and are intuitive once you learn how they work, which takes like 10 minutes of research when you first start playing the game. Learning type matchups takes longer and is more complicated than this.

Please explain how biting is "special", and yet a magic ball of shadow energy is "physical"
Please explain in your own words how something being easy to memorize makes it not nonsensical.
>intuitive once you learn how it works
Oxymoron
>ghost:physical
>intuitive
It makes perfect sense. Physical is the type, not the move.
>Fire PUNCH
>CRUNCH
>Blaze KICK
>Leaf BLADE
>Volt TACKLE
>Special
The fire part is what hurts more. It's like if you threw a molotov at me, the whole "AAAIIIEE IM ON FIRE" is way more pressing to me then the less painful impact of a think glass bottle thrown at my back.
don't tell phys/spec split zoomers that sacred fire is physical and wring out is special
don't tell pre-split hoenngays that dragon claw is special and doom desire is physical
Why are Alakazamgays so greedy?
KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOgays in general are used to getting everything handed to them

>Everyone just spams Close Combat now lol
Ok? If there was no split, Close Combat would still be physical.
>Physical Special split happened because they couldn't just simply do this
>no Fairy type
All is right in the world
I'm gonna be real with y'all. I still don't know how Fairy interacts with the other types. I've seen the charts, but they just don't stick
I can always remember how it interacts with dragon and steel but nothing else.
no one cared about this shit back then, you'd just use the strongest attack and go with it
>presplit schizo
how many decades of cope?
we're going on two
I think Fairy would be physical because I associate it with public displays of affection and nonconsensual love which gets pretty physical.
>Max Phantasm lowers Def
>Max Darkness lowers Sp. Def
It's good to know GF still knows Ghost is physical and Dark is special and hasn't bent the knee to zoomers.
>Max Quake raises SpD
>Max Ooze raises SpA
ok
Majority of 'special' types are tied to weather/terrains
It would have helped if the games actually TOLD YOU what each type was.
