At some point the art team forgot what the rs2 aesthetic is all about and started catering to redditors, worst part is that they're just blatantly importing rs3 content making osrs pretty much just vintage runescape 3 at this point.
oh boy I can't wait to group up with my bros to do some dungeonee- >need multiple 70s and a long-ass quest (following multiple other long-ass quests) just to get into the city >no bro-op >no lore drops from beating bosses >only three weapon types >only one armor type >all of three tiers of equipment >one single boss
Not dungeoneering, full stop. Maybe if they take the foundation laid by the SHITlet they could wrangle it into dungeoneering but I think the age where Jagex devs were getting paid enough to give a frick are long past.
Bots exist of course, both versions have them but thats obvious since they're f2p mmos.
What I'm saying is that if you subtract all the bots the osrs playerbase would still be at least twice as big as rs3.

have you never visited the GE?
The thing is that 2007 and by extension OSRS was when the RSHD graphic updates started entering the game. OSRS is just all RSHD aesthetic, none of the low poly highly detailed texture stuff you were used to in early RS2.
This is a proud warrior wearing the best and 2nd best armor available. He always seeks to help the little man with small favours.
You can’t even tell what this is. Is it a golem? A robot? Will it run into a burning building to save a child? Or was it responsible for starting the fire? Soulless abomination.
Why is barrows armor so unique looking compared to garbage nuJagex stuff? I remember barrows releasing as a kid and thought it looked weird but at the same time cool, it doesn't look like copypasted real world armor and it doesn't look like moronicly ornate WoW armor its just peak SOUL and i dunno how oldJagex did it
Because the designs are simple, simple as. Notice how bandos despite its popularity is barely remembered compared to rune, dragon, barrows, the whip,, etc
Clean and simple design and silhouette. Some aesthetically pleasing bumps (pauldrons, kneecaps, boot brims). Very flat/smooth- the shield has a decal but it doesn't stick up, the glory is just a purple dot on a yellow dot. Each item sticks to three colors or less.
Muddled and busy. The platebody is pushing six different colors on its own, the legs are at five. Only the firecape and DFS are acceptable since they lean more towards pastels- everything else is too saturated. Original oldschool high-end gear was also more uniformly colored, see

and the red of dragon. Meanwhile torva clashes horribly with the rest of those setups to where the slayer helm makes for a better set than the actual torva helmet.
It tries to build off of what has already been created, instead of creating something entirely new. It is far from the Source.
The Source is real-life experience and aesthetics, the most rudimentary level.
Simulacra is broken from it.
Imagine if you spoke a specific phrase to the first person in a circle of people and told them to change a bit of the wording with each person they passed it onto. That first person is considered closest to the Source as possible. Now, if the phrase reaches back to the first person, you will find that the phrase has been twisted beyond all recognition yet trying to mimic the original. That is simulacra.
Or you could simply imagine a troony.
To be fair, and to provide some context to people that don't play osrs, the torva armor and the Slayer helmet were brought over from rs3 - so graphically they're pretty messy and look overdesigned
if you look at a set of armor like ancestral robes or justiciar they still got soul
>some zoomer's idea of low poly rendered probably with raytracers on a shader enabled graphics card that can push 500000000 gons a second
You say that perhaps in jest but god damn the official renders they've made reek of that
OP design is simple not for a lack of skill or willpower, but for lack of resources. It was designed to run on dogshit computers the world over, and produced by a couple of nerds with the time they could spare away from the rest of real life, and using whatever tools they could scrounge up at the time.
Meanwhile, this is the result of a group of full-time workers who are getting paid up front, and given tools and processes to satisfy company objectives.
That's what separates soul from soulless, here. It's not simply nostalgia, but the context is important.
I like both, RS3 has some cool designs too, and a lot of the lore stuff is neat. I just don't like the ability-based combat stuff and ez leveling of rs3.
I use mainly osrs but some rs3 lore and items for my dnd campaign set in gielinor : )
Overdesigned to try emulating better 3D graphics. This is one of the reasons why Runescape had a graphics update that expanded damage numbers so they didn't have to round as much. But then EOC happened and OSRS decided not to have either. But OSRS quickly started coping and completely ditching it's simple unique style.
A lot of rs3s armor looks dogshit.
The only one i really like on melee is the masterwork one.
Cause the grind was boring but the armor is good. Shoulders are a bit too large for my taste but otherwise i like it.
Nostalgia idiot, plus the internet community as a whole was far better than it is today because access wasn't as common. Now it's worldwide it invites any and all morons.
>started OSRS on launch, only trained skilling, mainly theiving and a bit of agility >come back a while later when wilderness is active >make mint as a lv 3 lootergay with all those sharks, potions, arrows, and the occasional pj'ed 100k+ items
Good times, shame they gayged it up hard with the anti-ddos loot hiding, the left-click option toggle and all the looter bots that showed up
I never liked how far they were stretching the artstyle and I got really pissed off when they went and overhauled the elf models just to make them in line with the worst written npcs in the worst written quest in recent history.
The final straw that made me actually quit the game was when they went to some of the more memorable, funny and/or clever quests in the game because someone imagined someone complaining.
Frick 'em. They can keep their shit. I wish I could take every dime I ever spent on the game back, preferably with interest, but I'll settle for leaving a flaming bag of shit on their doorstep next time I'm in the neighborhood.
Every time you get vocal about the GE and how it damaged the game, you get zoomer morons who didn't even play the game before the GE telling you "you don't really want to remove the GE, wouldn't actually like it", as if they know what I like and don't like.
Unfortunately it wouldn't be enough to just remove the GE, it's the players that have changed as well. People have become lazy and asocial, they'd just set up plugins to automate trading through bots and interfaces and set up something that's effectively a new GE.

Official list of scams I pulled in Runescape as a child that worked
>1: 'helping' people during monkey madness and basically getting them killed through various hijinks be it luring them through the bridges to the monkey temple and taking them downstairs near the DH spot, convincing them they needed the ninja monkey boss's bones in the middle of the square surrounded by archers and told them they had to pray melee, getting them to follow me on the tunnel section and stopping on one of the traps, even traded them a d long and a rune plate to get their more valuable items
>2: Told people about a duplicating trick I knew that involved dropping the items on the ground and doing some obnoxious set of steps, I'd have them do it in some far off place upstairs and I would stand in another building upstairs so they could see me and not worry about me grabbing the items, then when I saw the items appear I would log into my alt and start grabbing the items
>3: shutting the door in the zammy wine room
>4: sold my scape account and then later reclaimed it with the credit card info >4.5: multiple times LOL
>5: make character female >6: attempting to pull 'common' scams like armor trimming or item swapping in trade
power gap >9000: bottting

hell, even back in actual RS2, you'd still get some people doing nice things for noobs in lumbridge. hang around goblins, cows or chickens enough and i've heard about nice giveaways.
saw a decent drop party or two in my time, but was too slow to get anything good.
>remove GE
No. Enough with this fricking meme. Only useless NEET morons, israelites or kids that don't value their time liked "actual" trading. Nobody has time to sit outside a bank screaming into a void of advertisements anymore because the world is ruined. The only way you can remove the GE without alienating most people in the modern day is by putting in a global advertisement board that allows for schedule meetups. You post your ad selling x for Y price, someone searching for X sees it, contacts you, and you guys hook up somewhere and do the trade. Anything else is stupid.
>someone searching for X sees it, contacts you
Frick this, just do what FF14 does and put market boards in major cities. Give people a reason to hang out in different towns instead of congregating over a block of concrete in fricking slum-ass varrock
>putting in a global advertisement board that allows for schedule meetups. You post your ad selling x for Y price, someone searching for X sees it, contacts you, and you guys hook up somewhere and do the trade
OSRS actualy did this first, but it wasn't enough when everyone still used Zybez
combination of nostalgia and cope, 99% of people who played in 2005-7 didn't kill barrows let alone GWD so they don't realize how fricking boring the game is when you aren't 12
OSRS is a contradictory existence. It wants to be a snapshot in time of better days, but needs to update and move forward in order to keep itself alive. It lives off nostalgia yet everybody knows that it can't survive off that alone.
I'm not sure if nostalgia is what keeps people playing it certainly hasn't been the reason for me. I'm originally from the RS1 era and played more or less constantly until 2009-2010 and I don't really find nostalgia to be the reason why I started again few months ago. I think the core idea of grinding and seeing numbers go up is a solid thing that works on its own even without nostalgia.
I miss when you could run across that grid without learning your pattern by opening house options
impressed one friend with that trick and by the time I found another doing UP they fixed it so I made an ass of myself nearly dying trying to cross it while she waited on the other side
Yes, if only just. I played a bit on my brother's account, and then made my own shortly before RS2. I will always remember those shitty goblin sprites, but it's at the same time mixed in with memories of the nicer looking 3d world.
Because it's about supporting stigmatized groups who would get beaten up and killed for having the wrong sexual preferences
Though I don't know why being asexual, non-binary or genderqueer are in there since there's no societal repercussions for saying you're those other than just everyone thinking you're moronic
I agree if straight people were included there probably wouldn't be as much animosity towards the gays, "us vs them" mentality never solves anything
The last real "hate crime" that anyone's ever heard about was that gay Black person actor claiming someone threw bleach on him, and even that was fake.

Anon, the MSM would have a field day if there was a recorded case of a legitimate and verifiable hate crime. That's why they ran away with the Smollet bullshit before it fell apart and that's why they spend months talking about Fentanyl Floyd even though the first one was fake as shit and the second one was never really proven to be racially motivated.
no one gives a frick about the queers we just hate being fricking forced to fly pride flags and tolerate all this ridiculous shit. wana frick a guy up the ass? cool. i dont care, stop with this opressive shit tho cos it just pushes people AWAY from supporting gays
I agree the whole LGBT movement has done more harm than good for gay/troony folks, allowing predators to join in feel included
Non-binary and gender fluidity really screwed it up for everyone too by undefining gender when it needs defining more than ever for a healthy societal/economic structure
>who would get beaten up and killed for having the wrong sexual preferences
Where? Tell me exactly where it happens. Go into detail, Anon. I REALLY want to hear you say it.
They tried again, this time dropping any pretense of giving a frick about what the players want.
Completely unpolled, anyone even suspected of questioning or disrupting the event is either muted or banned without warning.
They praised the event as a great success afterwards even though thousands of people got muted or banned and thanked the community for their cooperation, and promised that it would be a yearly thing from now on.
Oh yeah, they also introduced a batch of "diversity and inclusion" changes to existing quests. Also unpolled.
Just give me back 2005 models
EVERYTHING jagex has added to osrs clashes so horribly and I hate it. I unsubscribed before the pride event and I'm not touching the game until they add in osOSRS
I became so invested in the version of Runescape that had these models that to this day OSRS which uses the new models feels off to me
I miss my miniman imps and my cartoon zombies
>play from 2006 up until rs3 when it became a pile of dogshit >osrs comes out and is fun again for about 12 months then they added too much player suggested crap (courtesy of reddit polls) >now theres rs3 and rs3 with older graphics
who the frick still plays this game
Kourend just because there's FRICKING NOTHING in ~80% of it, they had reworks to farmerland and maybe fighterland but there hasn't been any word on the other three houses.
That's because the old map was expanded upon piece by piece over years of development with interconnected quests activites etc and basically the whole of Zeah was added all at once
Kourend just because there's FRICKING NOTHING in ~80% of it, they had reworks to farmerland and maybe fighterland but there hasn't been any word on the other three houses.
The actual models and environments still look way out of place. Compare the kourend mountain to death plateau. Death plateau is relatively smoothed out, but still shows inclines and is obviously mountainous terrain. In kourend, the mountain has countless jagged edges all modeled out and it looks like a cluttered mess.
They would have been better off adding sailing and keeping kourend(with aesthetics matching the rest of the game) as a series of distant islands like originally intended. I would have rather had 2007scape with sailing and a new massive ocean than the rs3lite we have now.
>any given house area is the size of varrock >multitudes of buildings with nothing but water sources/ranges >more with literally nothing inside
why did they do it bros
Kourend is still dogshit to this day >grimdark super srs quests with some of the worst writing in the game >all five towns are pointlessly massive, they were literally copying and pasting assets over and over next to each other just to pad out the space because they decided to make it needlessly huge before even coming up with what would go there >teleportation options are all locked behind inventory wasters, its own spellbook doesn't even have appropriate teleports for the continent >getting access to anything requires a mind-numbing grind, like making 1000 buckets of compost, using 1000 medkits on static NPCs, or mining 500 rocks in an area where you take constant damage
zeah release was a shitshow but theyre halfway through finishing it and its still missing the entire southern part so itll probably look decent when its done (in 2030)

>STILL big for the sake of being big instead of having anything meaningful or interesting in between the small islands of content
Then youy have RS3 which has every square a clusterfrick of dead content/minigame zones, the entire F2P map is overcrowded with shit and every new area added is just an instanced island instead of actual new map, so yes I'll take a few hundred empty tiles
Lack of over designed details allows the human mind to fill in the gaps, that which we imagine will always better than that we can see. Just like how the scariest monsters are the ones we don’t see, the best designs are the ones that are simple.
would be legitimately nice to care enough about 3scape beyond seeing it as an easy bond dispenser
last I saw you kill zamorak in a raid or something, is that right?
Don't get me wrong, RS3 isn't without its flaws, but jagex is genuinely trying to keep the actual content fresh and diversive, OSRS at its core will always struggle to do that without becoming uncanny valley.
You don't kill him but you fight him to force him off the planet, with the end goal being that ALL the gods have Hippity Hippity get off my property with the reestablishment of the Edicts of Guthix and you're back to being a regular guy instead of the chosen one
>sign into RS3 for the first time in a few years >blinding particle effects fricking EVERYWHERE >no two areas fit together, you can literally see the seams on the ground between two towns where one art team stopped and the other began, to the point that trees look completely different for no reason because they were changing everything just for the sake of changing it >chat heads and models are still uncanny and ugly as shit >entire artstyle looks like World of Warcraft dipped in cooking oil, everything's weirdly smeared and runny >EoC is only noticeable in cutting edge endgame content, otherwise it's literally the exact same "click and wait" combat from pre-EoC where you're just autoplaying your rotation >MTX constantly being pushed in your face with no shame or restraint whatsoever
I would describe RS3 as "visually overwhelming"
They just didn't know when to stop, there's no restraint to any degree
>rs4 >fix story by resorting to "the timeline is fricked" >treat osrs and rs3 as separate timelines which combined into 4 >progress from both osrs and 3 will transfer over >return to the aesthetics and lighting of runescapes original official art from pre 2007(90s pre rendered 3d) >combat closer to pre eoc with an expanded spellbook system to implement added rs3 combat abilities(require runes and have cooldowns)
Runescape would probably do well with a resistance system considering the several and varied elemental affinities already present in game. Just add different resistance bonuses to armor, change spells to reflect as much and away you go
I enjoyed OSRS but its just not RuneScape 2 anymore and RuneScape 3 is also so far removed from the game in 2006 and earlier. Is there any kind of private server that allows you to set your skills? I want to play through the old quests without having to spend many hours on a poor man's version of what was once trying to be RS2.
Is RS Classic still around? Last I heard, they closed off access to everyone except any member that signed into the Classic servers, meaning no more new accounts could join in.
They closed them permanently because there were game-breaking bugs which they could not fix probably because the original people weren't around anymore and allocating new manpower to RSC was out of the question.
Damn that sucks, I used to f2p in the og classic but never got around to seeing what the membership side of it was like.
They closed them permanently because there were game-breaking bugs which they could not fix probably because the original people weren't around anymore and allocating new manpower to RSC was out of the question.
>me in 2006 >"Hmm, today I'd like to make some pies" >collect wheat and buy some pots >make flour >collect berries or apples from the cooking guild >cook pies >look upon my inventory of 14 pies with pride for the day
This is unironically what they need to do to make Runescape good. Cater to casual exploration and skilling and questing and weird activities instead of autistic minmaxers and WoW raidmill refugees.
Both prayer flicking and tick manipulation have been a recognized technique for a long time
Free to play pvp swapping scim/2h was the earliest manipulation I can even remember and flicking just falls in line
i kind of love the solo crafting loop, even if it's not effecient and covers too many things. mine gold and stuff at motherlode, cut gems, head to edgeville, smelt rings, necks, etc, string them, enchant, sell, repeat.
it stops it from being too boring.
Idk, I enjoy that, but harvesting gems or dhide is a pain in the ass to get large quantities. I wish there were a glassblowing option somewhere between the lantern lenses and the glass orbs. I mean it jumps from 47crafting to 87
You get a mole, a racoon, a scorpion a dog, another dog, a squirrel and a chinchilla. That's it.
The game acknowledging this collectionist shit is soulless.
People were already doing completionist shit way back in 2015 and I don't see how tracking it makes that big of a difference. Save your complaining for when log slots end up on the high scores
thats exactly what i mean. f2p ironmen have the curse of using inefficient methods for everything so it feels more rewarding when you come up with something yourself under those limitations
>Best shit in OSRS Runescape takes place where you'd be wearing that armor >Shit that makes the gaudy NuOSRS gear mandatory fricking sucks >Barrows is still peak Runescape Aesthetic
gayex played themselves
group iron man with 4 was the most fun in a game I had in the past few years or so. Even if 3 remain in the group. Everyone was doing something to help eachother out and grinding felt easier because it wasnt only for yourself
>me and my buddy used to camp noobs respawning in taverly >didnt matter if guards killed us cus we just used bronze weapons anyway >whoever we targeted always got super mad
man, darkscape was SOVL. it had the right blend of osrs and rs3 along with actual risk. i never understood why jagex had to get rid of it

Darkscape was very very fun
They killed it for dead man mode
playing an ironman is basically admitting that you're an efficiency tard who can't control themselves. you need to be forced to engage content instead of trying it on your own, having your fill, and reasonably putting it down when it's no longer fun. but you'll play a cucked gamemode and put yourself through shit grinds because you can't fathom not being efficient on a main.
ironman >try activity >get bored >do other activity for variety

The first time playing through the early game of runescape is a gaming experience I've never ever felt since. Why cant that level of sovl be replicated by other games?
>consider going back to RS3 >realize that every skill is completely useless besides Herblore, Slayer, and the combat skills
What do you think the odds are that Jagex gets sold off for a fourth time? I can't imagine whatever investment firm that owns it will be happy with a dying MMO for too much longer
>instead of going back to finish up 5th age quests the new quest series is now about the edgy pmsing half breed Moia wanting to plunge the world into chaos because of her daddy and inferiority issues
>instead of going back to finish up 5th age quests the new quest series is now about the edgy pmsing half breed Moia wanting to plunge the world into chaos because of her daddy and inferiority issues
>Moia is the half-Mahjarrat, half-human daughter of Lucien and currently a general in the army of Zamorak.
What the actual frick are they doing
Why did Lucien frick a human when they want to eradicate humanity
moia is a legacy character who shouldve stayed forgotten at the bottom of daemonheim. i don't mind the halfbreed thing so much as it was explained as an attempt to solve the whole ritualistic sacrifice by making the halfbreeds to use instead, but it did not work.
It still blows my mind that they started REWRITING old quests to shove new characters in that they could use for marketing materials
They put magic b***h in the legends' guild as if she's done jack shit compared to you
Yeah that heroes thing was fricking moronic although I like to think of it as Jagex's way to actually make the player character look better. We've seen how those signature heroes always have to work together on their adventures and that they're all one trick ponies investing in only one skill type, meanwhile your character does all his questing alone and is a jack/master of all trades with knowledge in all different skills and combat styles basically stealing all their fame and glory as you keep on completing quests and becoming the famous adventurer.
Player interaction. Players are free to chat and type while they do many activities.
I've had countless conversations in runescape while in other MMOs, everyone sticks to talking with their guild.
Also SOUL.
You can play with other people. No rushing to max level before you can actually play the game. You can play with a friend that just started, do minigames together
>sorceress's garden >summer squirks >iron men using scripts for fastest thieving exp >can easily be crashed >break scripting on every single members world
Not today, irongays
>Go where you want after the tutorial >Do what you want, robbing people or killing monsters >No dumb class system >Skill system lets you do other activities >Skill system has to be leveled to gain access to new quests and areas and equipement >Make money from trading, killing, or skilling >Players help each other complete quests and other things. >Home customization even if it is instanced >Player events and discovered bugs become lore in the game.
It was full of soulful mechanics.
>never played runescape >watch and enjoy those 10+ hours Ironman runs >"okay I'm going to grind this one repeatable quest for 600 hours"
it's pretty perfect background noise
I imagine playing the game itself could be the same
I wish they release an official private server/standalone osrs game, like Wurm Unlimited. The newer updates just continue to drain the soul.
I would buy the game straight away if it is the 2007 version, or at least pre-zeah shit.
..and this doesn't?
What the frick is this garbage? It looks his equipment is made by gluing together literal garbage.
At some point the art team forgot what the rs2 aesthetic is all about and started catering to redditors, worst part is that they're just blatantly importing rs3 content making osrs pretty much just vintage runescape 3 at this point.
The only issue with RS3 is the combat update, all the microtransactions, and the stupid battle pass
And the quests, and the story, and the rest of the game design direction.
Maybe I just want dungeoneering back.
Dungeoneering is good as a minigame, not as a skill.
You already have it back in osrs prif
oh boy I can't wait to group up with my bros to do some dungeonee-
>need multiple 70s and a long-ass quest (following multiple other long-ass quests) just to get into the city
>no bro-op
>no lore drops from beating bosses
>only three weapon types
>only one armor type
>all of three tiers of equipment
>one single boss
Not dungeoneering, full stop. Maybe if they take the foundation laid by the SHITlet they could wrangle it into dungeoneering but I think the age where Jagex devs were getting paid enough to give a frick are long past.
Dungeoneering is a shitty skill but a pretty good minigame.
At least we have Elite Dungeons now
Quests and stories are great. Nice try, dumbass.
There's a reason why osrs has x3 the player count and no its not cause muh bots
I mean, those three reasons alone are why I don't play it. Though I do have an Ironman on it that I play rarely.
>NO its not "MUH BOTS!"
except every time im skilling i see 3-5 copies of the same person.
Bots exist of course, both versions have them but thats obvious since they're f2p mmos.
What I'm saying is that if you subtract all the bots the osrs playerbase would still be at least twice as big as rs3.
>both versions have them
RS3 has not had not had a significant number of bots since the purge when it was still RS2
>RS3 has not had not had a significant number of bots since the purge when it was still RS2
have you never visited the GE?
The combats fine anon, you can set everything to auto and if you need to do something with your skills manually it's no worse than prayer flicking
There's more to EoC than skills.
The thing is that 2007 and by extension OSRS was when the RSHD graphic updates started entering the game. OSRS is just all RSHD aesthetic, none of the low poly highly detailed texture stuff you were used to in early RS2.
Wrong
2007 did not have high textures, god wars looked like garbage technically, just the way it should
Except it does. Honestly wish OSRS would get a gfx update to the older stuff to bring it more inline with all their new content.
go play RS3
Except RS3 has glaring gameplay issues.
This is a proud warrior wearing the best and 2nd best armor available. He always seeks to help the little man with small favours.
You can’t even tell what this is. Is it a golem? A robot? Will it run into a burning building to save a child? Or was it responsible for starting the fire? Soulless abomination.
this is early/mid 2004 era BIS, before D chain and legs or barrows
Why is barrows armor so unique looking compared to garbage nuJagex stuff? I remember barrows releasing as a kid and thought it looked weird but at the same time cool, it doesn't look like copypasted real world armor and it doesn't look like moronicly ornate WoW armor its just peak SOUL and i dunno how oldJagex did it
gower era jagex bro, different gravy entirely
Because it looks like something you could realistically see people wearing compared to whatever this is
It follows the old school art style properly. Simple and very distinctive shapes.
Because the designs are simple, simple as. Notice how bandos despite its popularity is barely remembered compared to rune, dragon, barrows, the whip,, etc
RS3 aesthetic in RS2's engine and style.
Nostalgiagay.
Dickless troony homosexual.
Made by passionate creatives
Made by jaded corporate board
Meanwhile torva clashes horribly with the rest of those setups to where the slayer helm makes for a better set than the actual torva helmet.
i would actually play osrs if they didn't turn it into this garbage
i think post-auction house? is where the game went to shit.
Because it is derivative and simulacra.
ok mister fancy pants, now say that in real people words
its a copy of a copy of a copy, and with each copy it lost a bit of the charm.
>Or you could simply imagine a troony.
kek, of course
the osrs community has been diluted by rs3 refugees so that's why we have armor that looks like this now
To be fair, and to provide some context to people that don't play osrs, the torva armor and the Slayer helmet were brought over from rs3 - so graphically they're pretty messy and look overdesigned
if you look at a set of armor like ancestral robes or justiciar they still got soul
forgot pic
not medieval anymore.
Has a lot going on which makes you wonder which part is suppose to be the cool part.
In
you can clearly see that the dragon items are elite pieces of equipment compared to the standard.
low poly because of hardware constraints
vs
some zoomer's idea of low poly rendered probably with raytracers on a shader enabled graphics card that can push 500000000 gons a second
>some zoomer's idea of low poly rendered probably with raytracers on a shader enabled graphics card that can push 500000000 gons a second
You say that perhaps in jest but god damn the official renders they've made reek of that
MEANWHILE, IN THE STONE AGE
This is it, the very essence of SOUL distilled into one image.
>DFS still BiS
based
you don't even use DFS in the one place you'd think (meleeing a dragon boss)
Spirit Shields got added, but they omitted the best one
OP design is simple not for a lack of skill or willpower, but for lack of resources. It was designed to run on dogshit computers the world over, and produced by a couple of nerds with the time they could spare away from the rest of real life, and using whatever tools they could scrounge up at the time.
Meanwhile, this is the result of a group of full-time workers who are getting paid up front, and given tools and processes to satisfy company objectives.
That's what separates soul from soulless, here. It's not simply nostalgia, but the context is important.
i like the helmet on the right, reminds me of black dragons
content bloat
generic overdesigned dark lord rpg shit.
Is this really fricking OSRS in 2022? They just turned it into R23. AGAIN.
I like both, RS3 has some cool designs too, and a lot of the lore stuff is neat. I just don't like the ability-based combat stuff and ez leveling of rs3.
I use mainly osrs but some rs3 lore and items for my dnd campaign set in gielinor : )
>took him 6 years to get rune
what a noob
Overdesigned to try emulating better 3D graphics. This is one of the reasons why Runescape had a graphics update that expanded damage numbers so they didn't have to round as much. But then EOC happened and OSRS decided not to have either. But OSRS quickly started coping and completely ditching it's simple unique style.
Generic design. New developers have "omg le shiny graphics!! xD" mindset.
A lot of rs3s armor looks dogshit.
The only one i really like on melee is the masterwork one.
Cause the grind was boring but the armor is good. Shoulders are a bit too large for my taste but otherwise i like it.
Forgot pic. Cause im moron
Because you're nostalgic for the former but not the latter.
Nostalgia idiot, plus the internet community as a whole was far better than it is today because access wasn't as common. Now it's worldwide it invites any and all morons.
reddit moment
i remember when i'd see a character like that, legends cape n all and just wish i could be them. i never did reach the dizzying heights bros...
I remember I had a character called "D Long" at least i'm sure I did, pretty cool
>that rush when you'd loot vulture on the wildy line
>started OSRS on launch, only trained skilling, mainly theiving and a bit of agility
>come back a while later when wilderness is active
>make mint as a lv 3 lootergay with all those sharks, potions, arrows, and the occasional pj'ed 100k+ items
Good times, shame they gayged it up hard with the anti-ddos loot hiding, the left-click option toggle and all the looter bots that showed up
this is why we need vanilla osrs servers, osrs has gone too far
/v/scape is pretty good but since it's so low pop the chat is just global now, which isn't as fun.
Jagex and redditors are gonna find a way to frick it up and run it into the ground for a third time.
Dude no I just started it few months ago.
They should make a vanilla OSRS server and hire me for 500€/month to develop it into a true autistic Runescape successor
First course of action: remove GE
Second course of action: make an AI that finds twitch streamers and DDOSes them
Every time you get vocal about the GE and how it damaged the game, you get zoomer morons who didn't even play the game before the GE telling you "you don't really want to remove the GE, wouldn't actually like it", as if they know what I like and don't like.
Unfortunately it wouldn't be enough to just remove the GE, it's the players that have changed as well. People have become lazy and asocial, they'd just set up plugins to automate trading through bots and interfaces and set up something that's effectively a new GE.
>zoomers will never pull the rock hammer/granite maul switcheroo
ranger boots to freminik boots....before they changed ranger boots to look unique
nobody fell for this
you actually didn't play before the GE did you, lol. What a fricking nightmare it was trying to get something as simple as gnome goggles. would take fricking weeks going on world 2 and the fourms just to fricking find one. That shit sucked so hard.
yes they did fall for it, there were many scams that worked. such as swapping ranger boots for fremmy boots, noted rune items for iron items etc
they definitely fell for it, pal
>nobody fell for this
haha yeah... nobody would be dumb enough to buy a rock hammer for 100k... haha......
>4: sold my scape account and then later reclaimed it with the credit card info
>4.5: multiple times LOL
>5: make character female
>6: attempting to pull 'common' scams like armor trimming or item swapping in trade
power gap
>9000: bottting
>>5: make character female
>do this
>within hours of starting to grind goblins just get given free shit
i wish it was millions or something, but the first time, it was a full set of black armour and cash i think. not bad for pre GE.
i was a newbie male just minding his business fresh into lumbridge, and i remember being traded 200k and a set of rune, with another player giving me a rune set for free days later while i was milling around doing quests
god damn, nice.
yeah, people were just really nice to newbies back then. bear in mind, i forgot to mention, this was osrs around 2017
so the playerbase was a lot more experienced and willing to just throw money at newbies for no reason lol
>osrs 2017
i can see it.
hell, even back in actual RS2, you'd still get some people doing nice things for noobs in lumbridge. hang around goblins, cows or chickens enough and i've heard about nice giveaways.
saw a decent drop party or two in my time, but was too slow to get anything good.
Guthan's spear in to the leaf-bladed spear. My friend lost around 10m to this before they made the leaf spear untradeable.
>remove GE
Anything else is stupid.
thats exactly what was implemented between free trade and GE, they called it the trading post.
It sucked because the player base sucks.
I genuinely don't even remember that but it sounds familiar.
https://oldschoolrunescape.fandom.com/wiki/Trading_post
>2 months
Jesus no wonder I forgot this.
Yeah felt a lot longer in memory
tears in the rain
>someone searching for X sees it, contacts you
Frick this, just do what FF14 does and put market boards in major cities. Give people a reason to hang out in different towns instead of congregating over a block of concrete in fricking slum-ass varrock
>Nobody has time to sit outside a bank screaming into a void of advertisements anymore because the world is ruined.
it's called a buyer's market moron
>putting in a global advertisement board that allows for schedule meetups. You post your ad selling x for Y price, someone searching for X sees it, contacts you, and you guys hook up somewhere and do the trade
OSRS actualy did this first, but it wasn't enough when everyone still used Zybez
why do people always say this when OSRS was dying until they added GWD
combination of nostalgia and cope, 99% of people who played in 2005-7 didn't kill barrows let alone GWD so they don't realize how fricking boring the game is when you aren't 12
I think the core idea of grinding and seeing numbers go up is a solid thing that works on its own even without nostalgia.
account ruined
I miss when you could run across that grid without learning your pattern by opening house options
impressed one friend with that trick and by the time I found another doing UP they fixed it so I made an ass of myself nearly dying trying to cross it while she waited on the other side
>f2p runescape good
>p2p runescape bad
wtf no
f2p runs out of stuff very fast.
>mid tier reddit gear
lol you never reached end game
youre literally nostalgic for tutorial
zoomer homosexual doesn't remember when this was BIS
my rs account is older than yours cope more homosexual
mines from early 2004, hence my nostalgia for that armour set
What a terribly performant game for such simple graphics.
Java, they never stood a chance in all honestly. Even 14 years back I knew they we're fricked long term.
any RSC bros here? acc from 2003 here, i was one of those who swore to never play RS2 but after a few weeks I caved and moved on
Yes, if only just. I played a bit on my brother's account, and then made my own shortly before RS2. I will always remember those shitty goblin sprites, but it's at the same time mixed in with memories of the nicer looking 3d world.
Which one Ganker?
asexual, involuntary ofc
Sorry but if we're having this why not add straight too?
doesnt seem very iNcLuSiVe
One mod actually tweeted that straight people don't need presentation because there's so many of them.
Does that mean we can get white pride presentation because white people are minority as compared to rest of the world?
desert robes and cream gnome clothes have been in the game for years bro
NO, DIE EVIL NAZI
Because it's about supporting stigmatized groups who would get beaten up and killed for having the wrong sexual preferences
Though I don't know why being asexual, non-binary or genderqueer are in there since there's no societal repercussions for saying you're those other than just everyone thinking you're moronic
I agree if straight people were included there probably wouldn't be as much animosity towards the gays, "us vs them" mentality never solves anything
>who would get beaten up and killed for having the wrong sexual preferences
Maybe in muslim countries but not here.
>.t never leaves his house
theres hate crimes all the time
The last real "hate crime" that anyone's ever heard about was that gay Black person actor claiming someone threw bleach on him, and even that was fake.
>MSM doesn't report on hate crimes so obviously they're not real
this is your brain on onions
God if only
>who would get beaten up and killed for having the wrong sexual preferences
Where? Tell me exactly where it happens. Go into detail, Anon. I REALLY want to hear you say it.
what about feet. where's the footgay crown?
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Spiked_manacles
Crowns for your feet
>stigmatized groups who would get beaten up and killed for having the wrong sexual preferences
I don't see a problem with this.
pansexual, I'd say bi, but I am open to literally everything.
is this real? thought they kept that stuff out of osrs
they forced it in this time
the only way it could ever be "accepted"
They tried again, this time dropping any pretense of giving a frick about what the players want.
Completely unpolled, anyone even suspected of questioning or disrupting the event is either muted or banned without warning.
They praised the event as a great success afterwards even though thousands of people got muted or banned and thanked the community for their cooperation, and promised that it would be a yearly thing from now on.
Oh yeah, they also introduced a batch of "diversity and inclusion" changes to existing quests. Also unpolled.
What did they change in these quests?
https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/gielinor-gazette---june-2022?oldschool=1
Scroll down to Diversity and Inclusion.
Thanks man
Old RS designs are essentially programmer art. That's what makes it so charming. Modern designs are too professional.
Just give me back 2005 models
EVERYTHING jagex has added to osrs clashes so horribly and I hate it. I unsubscribed before the pride event and I'm not touching the game until they add in osOSRS
yup vanilla servers with these models would be goat
dragon/barrows BIS, whip, fury etc
b-b-but what about the CONTENT?
what about the ENDGAME?
what about the PVM???
those cucks can stay with RS3 lite i mean OSRS
I became so invested in the version of Runescape that had these models that to this day OSRS which uses the new models feels off to me
I miss my miniman imps and my cartoon zombies
just play a different game and forget about old games, chud.
we need oldschool oldschool runescape
>play from 2006 up until rs3 when it became a pile of dogshit
>osrs comes out and is fun again for about 12 months then they added too much player suggested crap (courtesy of reddit polls)
>now theres rs3 and rs3 with older graphics
who the frick still plays this game
After all these years, seeing pictures of old runescape still is enough to bring me to my knees.
my halcyon days
those everlasting summers
where have they all gone?
Make way for the actual SOUL
>textures
heh, nice "soul"
simple and clean designs
easy on the eyes
they should make more nice detective style quests and quaint little areas with houses and such
would be nice for kourend with how many houses there are, or east falador
yeah but idk about kourend
it seems a little rushed in design
comparing that new shit to falador, zamorak etc is hilarious. you can tell who actually had passion for the game and who didnt
i haven't played in a long time so what new shit in falador?
Kourend just because there's FRICKING NOTHING in ~80% of it, they had reworks to farmerland and maybe fighterland but there hasn't been any word on the other three houses.
That's because the old map was expanded upon piece by piece over years of development with interconnected quests activites etc and basically the whole of Zeah was added all at once
Zeah is a pretty big slap to the face when they still haven’t finished the desert lol
>here’s all this new bullshit when you wanted the old bullshit!
ENTER
I miss doing the daily farm routine, bros.
I would have rather had 2007scape with sailing and a new massive ocean than the rs3lite we have now.
>any given house area is the size of varrock
>multitudes of buildings with nothing but water sources/ranges
>more with literally nothing inside
why did they do it bros
its a shame its such a theme park
would have been cool if it was more organic
Kourend is still dogshit to this day
>grimdark super srs quests with some of the worst writing in the game
>all five towns are pointlessly massive, they were literally copying and pasting assets over and over next to each other just to pad out the space because they decided to make it needlessly huge before even coming up with what would go there
>teleportation options are all locked behind inventory wasters, its own spellbook doesn't even have appropriate teleports for the continent
>getting access to anything requires a mind-numbing grind, like making 1000 buckets of compost, using 1000 medkits on static NPCs, or mining 500 rocks in an area where you take constant damage
Looks like soulless shit, like all new locations this was designed first and foremost as a grinding location, not as a part of a larger fantasy world.
zeah release was a shitshow but theyre halfway through finishing it and its still missing the entire southern part so itll probably look decent when its done (in 2030)
Why post a 6 year old map made by 3 developers
its the same theme park
they just made it less square
There is a lot of content and a lot of attention went into the redesign. You never went there and actually checked it out, many fun addons to actually make it feel more alive. Especially Hosidus really has that osrs feel
Jmod go home
SMITCH LIVE IN LAVA PLACE
MAGES LIVE IN MAGIC PLACE
FARMERS LIVE IN FARMER PLACE
FIGHTERS LIVE IN FIGHTING PLACE
wtf where do the fishermen live
fishing place
crazy how that happends
its just too 1 dimensional
that shit is way too gamey, when you have the main continent having actual fricking towns and shit
new Hosidius is pretty great, I really like the mini dungeon they added with it
>two areas that got any love at all are decent
>rest of the continent is still a frick
>STILL big for the sake of being big instead of having anything meaningful or interesting in between the small islands of content
There are many empty places in the old world. Also there are not that many empty spaces accept for the edges where you arent going anyways
Will they ever fix Pìscarilius, Arceuus and Lovakengj?
Hosidius and Shayzien are acceptable now.
SOVL
SOVLESS
Zeah is still garbage, but holy shit, it was so much worse.
hey babe, wana see my d long?
Lack of over designed details allows the human mind to fill in the gaps, that which we imagine will always better than that we can see. Just like how the scariest monsters are the ones we don’t see, the best designs are the ones that are simple.
Man, OSRS really be "words words words" on the state of their game while RS3 is getting it good this year.
would be legitimately nice to care enough about 3scape beyond seeing it as an easy bond dispenser
last I saw you kill zamorak in a raid or something, is that right?
Yes anon.
Don't get me wrong, RS3 isn't without its flaws, but jagex is genuinely trying to keep the actual content fresh and diversive, OSRS at its core will always struggle to do that without becoming uncanny valley.
You don't kill him but you fight him to force him off the planet, with the end goal being that ALL the gods have Hippity Hippity get off my property with the reestablishment of the Edicts of Guthix and you're back to being a regular guy instead of the chosen one
>old person trying to use Ganker memes to start an arguement
>RS3 is getting it good this year.
>they're removing Wildy PvP AGAIN
>getting it good
>playing RS3
>ever
Because you aren't a child anymore
it had soul in 2005 now its just full of autists minmaxxing and OP weapons that kill you in the wildy in one tick
>game that takes autistic amount of time to gain levels is minmaxed
you're describing every MMO
RS3 is so like, visually overwhelming. I say this as someone logging in for the first time since OSRS became a thing.
RS3 is just 20 years of garbage stapled together, at least OSRS tries to be somewhat consistent
I feel like I gotta make a new account just to understand this shit from the ground up
>sign into RS3 for the first time in a few years
>blinding particle effects fricking EVERYWHERE
>no two areas fit together, you can literally see the seams on the ground between two towns where one art team stopped and the other began, to the point that trees look completely different for no reason because they were changing everything just for the sake of changing it
>chat heads and models are still uncanny and ugly as shit
>entire artstyle looks like World of Warcraft dipped in cooking oil, everything's weirdly smeared and runny
>EoC is only noticeable in cutting edge endgame content, otherwise it's literally the exact same "click and wait" combat from pre-EoC where you're just autoplaying your rotation
>MTX constantly being pushed in your face with no shame or restraint whatsoever
I would describe RS3 as "visually overwhelming"
They just didn't know when to stop, there's no restraint to any degree
>rs4
>fix story by resorting to "the timeline is fricked"
>treat osrs and rs3 as separate timelines which combined into 4
>progress from both osrs and 3 will transfer over
>return to the aesthetics and lighting of runescapes original official art from pre 2007(90s pre rendered 3d)
>combat closer to pre eoc with an expanded spellbook system to implement added rs3 combat abilities(require runes and have cooldowns)
JAGEX
HIRE THIS MAN in to the MTX team
but what will rs5 be?
10 years later
I cannot wait to get my 30 year cape
futuristic reboot
mechscape WHEN
dating sim
If you're gonna make a new Runescape you should just throw the old ones away and start over.
Runescape would probably do well with a resistance system considering the several and varied elemental affinities already present in game. Just add different resistance bonuses to armor, change spells to reflect as much and away you go
They fricked up long ago when there was no option to marry Zanik.
>people want to marry this
wtf?
She cute, you don't understand.
she's a troglodyte and a swine... i'd rather marry my gf i bought for 1k
This, old version was better
Look, she's smiling!
That's sexier than the current models
I enjoyed OSRS but its just not RuneScape 2 anymore and RuneScape 3 is also so far removed from the game in 2006 and earlier. Is there any kind of private server that allows you to set your skills? I want to play through the old quests without having to spend many hours on a poor man's version of what was once trying to be RS2.
post em
I think I'm close to a year, too afraid to check
nice. check it anyway. it feels like i've wasted so much longer, but it's just chunks over such a long period of time.
rookie numbers
i kneel! jump back in brother, bring up that game time in OSRS.
damn dude, you put in some work
I wouldn't call it work. I just play the game for fun and have been for many years
why is this a thing
>Pronounced clusterfrick of squiggly looking letters, and a number
>all these pseuds trying to come up with a reason
>when it literally all boils down to nostalgia
If you played the game as a kid while the other armor set was available you wouldn't think it was soulless now.
Zoomer cope.
You will never be able to experience goodscape.
>fricking zoomers, why don't they play good games like I did?
I don't want zoomers anywhere near my favorite games, they ruin everything with their irredeemable taste and dopamine fried iPad brains.
and thats why zoomers are shit, because they never had the chance
Is RS Classic still around? Last I heard, they closed off access to everyone except any member that signed into the Classic servers, meaning no more new accounts could join in.
think the classic servers are gone for good
Damn that sucks, I used to f2p in the og classic but never got around to seeing what the membership side of it was like.
They closed them permanently because there were game-breaking bugs which they could not fix probably because the original people weren't around anymore and allocating new manpower to RSC was out of the question.
Thoughts?
>me in 2006
>"Hmm, today I'd like to make some pies"
>collect wheat and buy some pots
>make flour
>collect berries or apples from the cooking guild
>cook pies
>look upon my inventory of 14 pies with pride for the day
now it's all about grinding and killing gods frick I was autistic then
This is unironically what they need to do to make Runescape good. Cater to casual exploration and skilling and questing and weird activities instead of autistic minmaxers and WoW raidmill refugees.
>simple and grounded fantasy
VS
>over designed high fantasy
>Old RS
>Combat and skilling was straight-forward where you click and watch
>Be current day OSRS
>Need to learn Prayer Flicking and Tick Manipulation
it is funny remembering when people struggled against the fire cape boss and then looking at CoX or ToB
Both prayer flicking and tick manipulation have been a recognized technique for a long time
Free to play pvp swapping scim/2h was the earliest manipulation I can even remember and flicking just falls in line
Anyone know of a decent singleplayer server I can use as a sandbox
pre-gay era, also coincides to jagex not selling out.
What are YOU doing on OSRS right now
globbing and sklabbing on a real strenophlom
mining gold to sell necklaces and doing beginner clues on my f2p ironman
Bankstanding because I can't decide
i was fishing trout and salmon. always good wholesome world 1 fun
I wouldnt call osrs wholesome but its probably the best mmo for interactions and I regularly talk to randoms
Using superglass make to grind out crafting to finally get a glory.
I play group iron man and my friend did the crafting for fury and I did the money, sea weed and magic. glad I didnt have to do that
I honestly hate the crafting grind more than herblore
I did molten glass to 99
over 150 hours I'm never getting back but the cape teleport is kind of cool
Ironman or not? Because getting the resources fricking blows
i kind of love the solo crafting loop, even if it's not effecient and covers too many things. mine gold and stuff at motherlode, cut gems, head to edgeville, smelt rings, necks, etc, string them, enchant, sell, repeat.
it stops it from being too boring.
Idk, I enjoy that, but harvesting gems or dhide is a pain in the ass to get large quantities. I wish there were a glassblowing option somewhere between the lantern lenses and the glass orbs. I mean it jumps from 47crafting to 87
>shilo village gem mine
>gem pouch
>He doesn't have 20+ pets
Working on 200m firemaking
is there a rat pet
no but there is a mole
You get a mole, a racoon, a scorpion a dog, another dog, a squirrel and a chinchilla. That's it.
People were already doing completionist shit way back in 2015 and I don't see how tracking it makes that big of a difference. Save your complaining for when log slots end up on the high scores
Tracking it turns a fun personal activity that you do by choice into an official gameplay goal.
Wrong
The game acknowledging this collectionist shit is soulless.
the only thing soulful about osrs anymore is doing f2p ironman since you're forced to ]use outdated and unchanged mechanics/parts of the map
Nobody forces you to be efficient, its a shit argument
thats exactly what i mean. f2p ironmen have the curse of using inefficient methods for everything so it feels more rewarding when you come up with something yourself under those limitations
reddit does
>Nobody forces you to be efficient
Other than the game actively making everything that isn't the most efficient grind possible unbearable.
Thats why they have released mini games that are inbtween standard AFK training and sweaty tick manipulation xp rates
>Best shit in OSRS Runescape takes place where you'd be wearing that armor
>Shit that makes the gaudy NuOSRS gear mandatory fricking sucks
>Barrows is still peak Runescape Aesthetic
gayex played themselves
Draynor, home.
I haven’t played in a while but like 1.5 years ago OSRS was still good... maybe I should resubscribe >:)
group iron man with 4 was the most fun in a game I had in the past few years or so. Even if 3 remain in the group. Everyone was doing something to help eachother out and grinding felt easier because it wasnt only for yourself
i have 500kc at cg.... please fricking free me.....
ganbatte!
>tfw darkscape
Protecting white wolf mountain wearing frog masks with channers was the closest thing NuJagex has made with soul
>me and my buddy used to camp noobs respawning in taverly
>didnt matter if guards killed us cus we just used bronze weapons anyway
>whoever we targeted always got super mad
man, darkscape was SOVL. it had the right blend of osrs and rs3 along with actual risk. i never understood why jagex had to get rid of it
>i never understood why jagex had to get rid of it
Wasn't it completely free? That's probably a decent reason
Darkscape was very very fun
They killed it for dead man mode
>replaced it with a seasonal mode nobody even plays anymore
i hate jagex so much
playing an ironman is basically admitting that you're an efficiency tard who can't control themselves. you need to be forced to engage content instead of trying it on your own, having your fill, and reasonably putting it down when it's no longer fun. but you'll play a cucked gamemode and put yourself through shit grinds because you can't fathom not being efficient on a main.
ironman
>try activity
>get bored
>do other activity for variety
normal account
>go to ge
>buy everything
>rinse repeat, engage in as little content as possible until max
It's time we went back
absolute dogshit. low poly gnomes will always be the best
Massive disagree Glouphrie
You can't have eyes and think this thing looks good
>tfw funning was a thing and you could find people to fight for hours on end
How did the the Duel Arena degrade in OSRS to be only a gambling cesspit?
Gold farmers, unironically
It's super easy and dirt cheap to get a cash stack once you're decently leveled, so there's absolutely no stake in gearing and people just dump their stacks on the duel arena in a feeble attempt to get a single neuron firing
How did the duel arena work exactly?
Challenge someone to a duel, they accept, you vote on rules (no magic, no consumables, funny weapons only, etc.) and stake items/money
You can't scam anymore because Runelite makes it super easy to check if someone's a pure and Jagex has padded the screen with a million warnings to show when there's a change, so it's exclusively for gambling.
>You can't scam anymore because Runelite makes it super easy to check if someone's a pure and Jagex has padded the screen with a million warnings to show when there's a change, so it's exclusively for gambling.
Wait, so the rules players set up were basically "only in writing" but people could still bring in other gear?
No the rules were always a hard restriction, it's just that someone can't change the rules and slip it past you without the client flashing a massive warning saying that the other player changed it right before you accepted.
Oh I see.
Nothing beats pre2007 graphics
GowerScape was SOUL, regardless of nostalgia
Why does it draw out every single 'i'
Those are two different 'i' sounds and they missed the one in 'quite'
hypocrites
I actually loved Dungeoneering when it came out.
It was a minigame you didn't need bots to populate and the chaotic weapons were sick
Just ogt Imbued heart on my group ironman at 40 KC, life's good
MODS
a deal's a deal, saradominist, you have to suck on my flames
The first time playing through the early game of runescape is a gaming experience I've never ever felt since. Why cant that level of sovl be replicated by other games?
>consider going back to RS3
>realize that every skill is completely useless besides Herblore, Slayer, and the combat skills
What do you think the odds are that Jagex gets sold off for a fourth time? I can't imagine whatever investment firm that owns it will be happy with a dying MMO for too much longer
>instead of going back to finish up 5th age quests the new quest series is now about the edgy pmsing half breed Moia wanting to plunge the world into chaos because of her daddy and inferiority issues
you forgot to mention how she turned into a black woman at some point, in voice and skin color. and somehow gained a robot arm.
Taking a lesson from Gul Dukat obviously
It still blows my mind that they started REWRITING old quests to shove new characters in that they could use for marketing materials
They put magic b***h in the legends' guild as if she's done jack shit compared to you
Yeah that heroes thing was fricking moronic although I like to think of it as Jagex's way to actually make the player character look better. We've seen how those signature heroes always have to work together on their adventures and that they're all one trick ponies investing in only one skill type, meanwhile your character does all his questing alone and is a jack/master of all trades with knowledge in all different skills and combat styles basically stealing all their fame and glory as you keep on completing quests and becoming the famous adventurer.
the cat is the only pet you'll ever need
what makes OSRS so much better than WoW or classic WoW?
It's actually an Mmo
whats the difference?
Player interaction. Players are free to chat and type while they do many activities.
I've had countless conversations in runescape while in other MMOs, everyone sticks to talking with their guild.
Also SOUL.
>110
>in rune
>45 in zerker helm
yeah i'd be scared too, about to get combo'd in the wildy but some homosexual mauler with 99str
You can play with other people. No rushing to max level before you can actually play the game. You can play with a friend that just started, do minigames together
nothing, it's the same game now.
>nobody here knows that my scythe is the rarest of all rares
>RS3
who cares
have you ever cucked someone in OSRS?
>sorceress's garden
>summer squirks
>iron men using scripts for fastest thieving exp
>can easily be crashed
>break scripting on every single members world
Not today, irongays
>Go where you want after the tutorial
>Do what you want, robbing people or killing monsters
>No dumb class system
>Skill system lets you do other activities
>Skill system has to be leveled to gain access to new quests and areas and equipement
>Make money from trading, killing, or skilling
>Players help each other complete quests and other things.
>Home customization even if it is instanced
>Player events and discovered bugs become lore in the game.
It was full of soulful mechanics.
soul?
you don't know the meaning of the word.
>selling rsc for your 07
Is rats leaving a sinking ship soul?
>never played runescape
>watch and enjoy those 10+ hours Ironman runs
>"okay I'm going to grind this one repeatable quest for 600 hours"
it's pretty perfect background noise
I imagine playing the game itself could be the same
its a nice MMO for grinding
probably the best ever
if you like idle games and incremental progress its the perfect game for you
I wish they release an official private server/standalone osrs game, like Wurm Unlimited. The newer updates just continue to drain the soul.
I would buy the game straight away if it is the 2007 version, or at least pre-zeah shit.
I miss the late RS2 clanchat shitposting
Any homies here from Elvemage's cc (when the name freeing update had someone snipe his name)
is it worth it to play OSRS as a free only account or should I go to Vscape?
vscape
osrs has gotten pretty pozzed lately
does vscape have a rootkit?
