best part is they terminated that game just weeks before they launched their mmo flop new genesis.
Sega have dozen of nostalgia baits in their basement and a lot of unused money in their accounts thanks to the casino fiasco. They will keep sacrificing their IPs until one of them turns into another gacha-powered gold mine (while selling more Miku shit to stay afloat) .

Unironically it's because japanese people considered the main girl to be ugly, particularly the eyebrows.

Game itself look like shit. Which is more than expected from delight works and hideo baba.

I wonder what things would have been like if they hadn't been chased off to Japan. Presumably, SEGA would have never existed, and the game developers would have found work with Nintendo instead. Maybe the disc drive would have occurred without Sony and PlayStation would have never been born. The entire industry could look different, all because a couple israelites wanted to sell some slot machines.

Actual quality of the game aside I feel like for all their supposed business acumen the suits never learn there's nothing to gain playing catch-up.
Fortnite was not the first battle royale, but it was the first one to be free to play and widely available on consoles, and now it having a whole story mode where you fought zombies is thought of as some weird-ass trivia.
COD likewise wasn't the first BR or the first extraction shooter, but had the luxury of having COD's refined gameplay and excellent controls and so had a receptive audience that would give it a foothold in submarkets.
Sega is making a co-op extraction shooter? Why would anyone play this over Tarkov? Or Hunt Showdown? Or COD DMZ?
Payday and Deep Rock Galactic succeeded where B4B failed not because there was a market absence after Valve left L4D2 to its own devices(and L4D2 is certainly not struggling by any metrics) but because they demonstrated a reason to exist and not just be some weird off-brand alternative.
This isn't even a Sega-exclusive thing, Sony famously announced having a shitload of games-as-service titles in the works, and then recently had to announce they were shutting down one of their recently acquired studios working on one of the aforementioned titles.
This failure turned Sega to globohomosexual Western chasers. After this they went hard on Xbox partnering, putting Western Youtubers in Yakuza while removing JAV, no more Japanese-style games except from Atlus who is being turned into a Persona-only dev, no more JPRGs from the Sega side, no more fanservice in their games because Resetera complained about it being in Sakura Wars.
Sega killed by beloved series Valkyria Chronicles and I will never forgive them
It was made by the FGO devs, they are notorious for being extremely incompetent at making games. FGO for example is a really bad game to play that is heavily carried by the IP and the writers from Type Moon.
I'm so fricking mad because it also killed Shin Sakura Wars.
