There's no "One Build" in any fromsoft game. Anything you sink all your shit into will still have counters to it.
If your game has shit where it's just linear exponential growth of numbers getting bigger you get that problem, which means you suck as a game developer. You're supposed to build in fluctuations and differences in complexity within adjacent systems. To get really great at X thing you need to compromise on Y. In games like PoE there's no compromise. It's just inflate everything and press button.
There will always be surefire gear loadsouts in games for X fast strategy, but a good game this doesn't remain true for all the content.
PoE has all these resistance stats that mean frick all because you can't actually see whats going on, and you're not supposed to. You're not supposed to react to sudden lightning damage enemy that pokes holes in your lightning defense. You're supposed to just have max lightning defense at all times cause it might show up.

You can rage all you want about how Fromsoft has just been making Demon's Souls inspired games since 2009, but it's a formula that's still ripe for potential as it's literally just a gameplay structure. Every FPS ever created since Doom 2 is basically identical in function to Doom 2. There have been literal thousands of shooters since doom 2 with the same wasd and left click gameplay. Fromsoft taking the formula behind Demon's Souls and making something that plays very different and feels totally new like Bloodborne or Sekiro is fricking fine.
Their graphics and tech are also perfectly fine. Most games have pretty graphics but absolute dogshit animation systems, whereas from's games are all very fluid and weighty with every blending nicely. God of War is made by a pro studio with all the graphics in the world, but the animations, the combat, hitting enemies, it's all fricking garbage compared to fromsoft. From's games have good enough graphics to hold up the art direction and not blow out the dev time and budget.

That's basically every modern game that gives you a enough freedom with your build. Gamers have just learned overtime that it's better, easier, and more efficient to put all your points into 1 thing.

There's no "One Build" in any fromsoft game. Anything you sink all your shit into will still have counters to it.
If your game has shit where it's just linear exponential growth of numbers getting bigger you get that problem, which means you suck as a game developer. You're supposed to build in fluctuations and differences in complexity within adjacent systems. To get really great at X thing you need to compromise on Y. In games like PoE there's no compromise. It's just inflate everything and press button.
There will always be surefire gear loadsouts in games for X fast strategy, but a good game this doesn't remain true for all the content.
PoE has all these resistance stats that mean frick all because you can't actually see whats going on, and you're not supposed to. You're not supposed to react to sudden lightning damage enemy that pokes holes in your lightning defense. You're supposed to just have max lightning defense at all times cause it might show up.

You can rage all you want about how Fromsoft has just been making Demon's Souls inspired games since 2009, but it's a formula that's still ripe for potential as it's literally just a gameplay structure. Every FPS ever created since Doom 2 is basically identical in function to Doom 2. There have been literal thousands of shooters since doom 2 with the same wasd and left click gameplay. Fromsoft taking the formula behind Demon's Souls and making something that plays very different and feels totally new like Bloodborne or Sekiro is fricking fine.
Their graphics and tech are also perfectly fine. Most games have pretty graphics but absolute dogshit animation systems, whereas from's games are all very fluid and weighty with every blending nicely. God of War is made by a pro studio with all the graphics in the world, but the animations, the combat, hitting enemies, it's all fricking garbage compared to fromsoft. From's games have good enough graphics to hold up the art direction and not blow out the dev time and budget.
