because super-guarding + partners having HP mean this game is even more piss easy than 64, which at the very least had you always needing to manage your hp.
This game filtered me as a kid because I had genuinely no fricking clue what to do
Mind you I was able to beat gen 2 pokemon at age 6, and had played literally every ps1 RPG I could, final fantasies, tactics, everything. I wrote it off as a terrible game and never looked back (I'm still haunted by that b***h saying she dropped her contact lens)
seeing a post like this makes me feel better, hopefully they just mindfricked me and it's not as shitty of a game as I thought it was, but I sure as hell did not know how to progress and this took it back to GameStop.
I only played through it once way back in the day, attempted a replay shortly after but dropped it around boggly woods, lol. I’ve become increasingly good at forcing myself to finish games over the last few years though, so chances are I’ll be able to play through the remake at least once. If I could force myself to finish the absolute chore that is pikmin 2 I can do the same with TTYD which is a far comfier and more entertaining game
"oh nooo someone called my favorite game shit for fair and reasonable reasons! noooo this can't be, I'ma call him a contrarian!"
The only people who defend TTYD are secondary homosexuals, if you've played the game you'd soon realize why the game is complete and irredeemable shit.
>The only people who defend TTYD are secondary homosexuals, if you've played the game you'd soon realize why the game is complete and irredeemable shit.
I've played 64 and TTYD to death kid and TTYD is superior. It's why it's the getting the remake treatment because even the original creators agree.
it's getting a remake to b8 secondaries into impulse-buying new shiny same-shit-remake, wanna bet that not even 10% of everyone who buys this remake will get past chapter 2? hell I think many that are hyping it will just turn 180 and not buy at the end.
Easy because >Star Powers are obnoxious now and are pretty much not worth using >That one chapter with the backtracking >Half of the partners are dogshit including the yoshi looking abomination and the mouse
Literally some of the worst changes to the series
Yeah honestly the game isn't as fun, especially on second playthroughs.
Lot of the chapters are time wasters, have dull corridor-like paths and the atmosphere is boring since you're on a random OC world rather than the Mushroom Kingdom.
Combat is more advanced but Paper Mario's was fine enough already.
Look at this goddamn thread. Can't even have a civil discourse because 64 gays b***hing. They're spinning this wheel of conflict because they can't swole their own pride and accept majority of fans prefer this one over the original. It's very pathetic.
I like games where you get fricked up badly, your road to revange is filled with hordes of minions of your archenemy and he himself is located in impossible to travel location like far in space.
TTYD simply isn't this game.
I dunno, you tell me. Personally I like bot and don't really understand why people even pit them against each other so much. My hate only goes to Sticker Star.
TTYD definitely had better level design.
It's mostly hypocrisy. Criticising "hallway design" when that criticism applies to every area of 64 except the desert and the island. It is dishonest.
neither won until nintendo release a sequel
the fact that there's only two of the paper mario rpgs means fans are the losers for not getting a game for 20 years
No way, BIS is just minigame setpiece after minigame setpiece, I fricking hated it as a kid because it felt like a waste of time when I wanted to do fun RPG things like Superstar Saga was. BIS just had absolutely zero confidence in the core mechanics of the game and ended up a shallow slideshow of quicktime events
Doesn't matter just play Super Paper Mario instead
I liked SPM a lot as a kid but I don't think I can ever replay it
Sloggish pace and overly verbose, but many very cool ideas
because super-guarding + partners having HP mean this game is even more piss easy than 64, which at the very least had you always needing to manage your hp.
i think mario RPG (snes) is the superior mario rpg. Paper mario hits different
It has some improvements over the first game, but it also has shit like that butthole that makes you fetch hotdogs for him.
it's not as good, very simple
because you were told to like it and you set your expectations too high like an impressionable fool
because the design goal for half the game is "how can we frick with players the hardest"
it's like a kaizo RPG
This game filtered me as a kid because I had genuinely no fricking clue what to do

being able to read is a prerequisite for this game, it's true
go play a good game instead of playing the same 2 baby games infinitely, how about that?
The chapters just aren't as good. Chapter 2 especially sucks and drags the game down.
I only played through it once way back in the day, attempted a replay shortly after but dropped it around boggly woods, lol. Treeshit's shit marketing robbed us of Mario Story. This is why every game gets progressively worse.
Because it's shit, a complete deviation from the original SOUL that made Paper Mario 64 so fricking perfect in the first place.
Either way I just want a new one, seems really dumb for them to have released 3 decent RPGs then just ignore the franchise for 20 years
Story isn't as good.
Nothing more cringe than being a contrarian
"oh nooo someone called my favorite game shit for fair and reasonable reasons! noooo this can't be, I'ma call him a contrarian!"

It's getting the remake treatment because good games don't need them.
>rated E for everyone
>nobody under 30 years olds heard of this game
Easy because
>Star Powers are obnoxious now and are pretty much not worth using
>That one chapter with the backtracking
>Half of the partners are dogshit including the yoshi looking abomination and the mouse

Too much talking and walking from one place to another.
having zero nostalgia for either I found 64 rather boring but TTYD quite fun.
Toad Town is maximum comfy.
the wrong game is getting remastered
Best selling, highest rated and acclaimed Mario RPG game after next year. 64 gays deserve suffering for not being supportive and dishonest
Why are you trying to pit us against each other? Every single fricking thread, I swear
Look at this goddamn thread. Can't even have a civil discourse because 64 gays b***hing. They're spinning this wheel of conflict because they can't swole their own pride and accept majority of fans prefer this one over the original. It's very pathetic.
The only b***hing I see is yours.
80% of posts in here are people bringing up and trying to say 64 is better. Frick off, you're one of them it seems.
>OP asks why he doesn't like the game
>People reply with the reasonable point of reference of 64 and compare it to it
>You seethe
>Best selling, highest rated and acclaimed Mario RPG game after next year
kek, ttydgays are always good for a laugh
I'm buying SMRPG instead
I'm getting both.
I'll probably get both too
Can't beleive we live in timeline where 64 is considered more "taboo" in the Tanabe-verse than the Mario game with the fricking noose in it.
I LIKE THAT JUMP
I like games where you get fricked up badly, your road to revange is filled with hordes of minions of your archenemy and he himself is located in impossible to travel location like far in space.
TTYD simply isn't this game.
if you played it you'd realise how close TTYD is to exactly what you just said
I dunno, you tell me. Personally I like bot and don't really understand why people even pit them against each other so much. My hate only goes to Sticker Star.
I've seen claims of TTYD's area design being mostly hallways, and yet most of 64's levels can be described that way too.
TTYD definitely had better level design.
It's mostly hypocrisy. Criticising "hallway design" when that criticism applies to every area of 64 except the desert and the island. It is dishonest.
TTYD won. 64 faded into memory and lost.
neither won until nintendo release a sequel
the fact that there's only two of the paper mario rpgs means fans are the losers for not getting a game for 20 years
Paper troony: the thousand year dilation
nostalgia issue literally
ttyd is just a better game
I prefer superstar saga to BIS but I know that it is a nostalgia thing. You have to be rational
No way, BIS is just minigame setpiece after minigame setpiece, I fricking hated it as a kid because it felt like a waste of time when I wanted to do fun RPG things like Superstar Saga was. BIS just had absolutely zero confidence in the core mechanics of the game and ended up a shallow slideshow of quicktime events
nostalgia, spite, contrarianism, bad taste
How butthurt do you have to be to reach into niche JRPG threads to complain about stuff?
