After 17 years, is it finally OK to say this was a good arguably great fun console? Even or especially when compared to the "hardcore, next-gen consoles" PS3 and the 360?
I agree. Access to every Nintendo library up until that point along with 240p output for CRTs is kino. Wii U has more stuff but the UI is so slow that it's not worth dealing with
I distinctly remember thinking the Wii would be the last console I really needed for exactly what you mentioned. Perhaps I was smarter than I gave myself credit for since it's also the last console in general I genuinely enjoyed and it's in my top 3 favorite console ever (with the N64 and SEGA Genesis)
>that timeframe of 2013-2015 on the WiiU
It's actually killing me how much of it I didn't experience because I was playing too much Counter-Strike at the time and just used the GamePad for anime/jerking off.
No people called it genius. Most people loved the Wii when it was new, it didn't get the reputation of being purely a shovelware casual/kiddie console until like 09 when Wii Fit came out and Nintendo had already dropped all their major franchises (Zelda, Mario, Kart, Smash, Metroid)
Only thing I remember not liking when it first came out for a few minutes was I didn't getting a fun little bootup screen. I imagined something like you'd get about 16 seconds into this video:
?t=16
After I got over that and realized each game had their own "bootup" screen in a way with the disc channel previews, I was good.
Not really. What people hated about the Wii UI was that Nintendo was too stupid in 2006 to figure out that those 512mb of internal memory weren't enough to hold many games, specially N64 VC ones. Then added an extra option to launch games directly from the SD Card but it was slow, What is more stupid is that Nintendo, trying to stop piracy, completely sabotaged the Wii U with slow USB read speeds, blocked what you could do with your SD card and made the console in-operable without the Gamepad. Now that the Wii U has lost every major game and all the good shit you can do you can do it in a regular Wii, there''s no point on owning a Wii U.

RiiConnect24.
>He doesn't use riiconnect24
You can connect back via RiiConnect24 and actually get news headlines
It was surreal to see COVID news come in to that
News channels in the west have always been officialist propaganda for liberalism.
>Geroge floyd in 2023
literally who? The future is now
back then, the experience was the product
now, you are the project
wrapped up tight and sold wholesale to blackrock and other venture capitalists
The PS5 has a nice home UI.

Once you softmod it it's a 11/10 console

Actually fricking based anon. I only wish it worked on the catalog too, but still.
WiiU was a thing
The Wii U one was fun seeing Miiverse posts on your home screen
>boot up WiiU
>no more Miiverse
>just the generic miss and filler messages on the screen
this shit is noisy and ugly
just give me a text list for a ui

Because you're not a child anymore, next question
Didn't people hate this design when it came out
people hated the vita's too but I loved both
