people do play racing games like these 2 said. any other answer is just stupid frick doomers that are now addicted to this website and being sad little homosexuals top kek!
Racing games, even the more fun arcadey style "pretending to be realistic" like gran turismo and forza, have crept more and more toward realism-sim to the point that it's pushing out casual players.
Not many people enjoy the idea of needing to drop hundreds on a force wheel and pedals, plus whatever a home console living room player autistically needs for that to work, to enjoy not sucking against those who do in multiplayer.
forza 8 kind of solves this with the assisted driving controller settings, but doesn't that feel low and forced, mm?
They took all the fun out of it
Youd be pressed to find somebody that doesnt have fond memories of playing shit like nfs underground but they dont like any of the new stuff

this is not true at all. outside of something like iracing the contrivances granted to traditional schemes are usually superior to sim setups.
Hey man, pass that crack pipe and let the rest of us have a hit too. Forza horizon is one of the best selling games on Xbox now and regular beats it's old sales records with each release. On top of that, wheel and pedal on fm7 and fh5 are notoriously ass, and while wheel support has been improved in 8, controller will still be 100% viable.
On a side note, I find it fricking hilarious that horizon kids are throwing a tantrum because they actually have to play motorsport in order to upgrade their cars instead of just having money thrown at them along side the latest meme hypercars. Thank frick driver and safety ratings will filter most of that trash in the BOP lobbies.

yeah forza's progression system i absolutely fricked since 3 and i cannot in good heart enjoy it anymore despite the driving physics being top tier
the only game i envy snoys is gran turismo, that game is pure soul
I've been playing motorfest, it's pretty good. Just need to mute voices and disable subtitles so you don't have to listen to pandering like

Screenshotting is busted though, capture software lags minutes behind and ubishit's own overlay just doesn't work.

This is the racing/sports equivalent of MMORPGs treating the player like the centre of the universe. As in a trope that literally nobody likes or advocates for that somehow made itself into a genre staple.

Lmao based. I think NFS ProStreet started this whole festival/good vibes shite and FH1 took it into the mainstream
i do it with nfsu2 too, would do carbon and mw but carbon is buggy in windows 10, i just love how cheesy the story is and the character intros look funny, made it seem that the actors enjoyed doing it.
I play Need for Speed Underground (the first) whenever I want to play a racing game.
Sad to hear Carbon is fugged, I had a lot of fun with it back when it came out.
Just emulate Carbon on RPCS3. Game is insanely light and has better graphics effect/textures than PC version anyways lol. I played in 8K on 1660ti and i5 9400f.
the whole story is about the evil cops and corporation being racist and oppressing muh poor street racers who just want to express themselves by driving at 200 mph through residential streets
And of course there's a transgenda character that just goes on a long rant about how hard life is for their kind, and no you cant skip it cause the game makes you drive across the map as an excuse to listen to it
>oppressing muh poor street racers who just want to express themselves by driving at 200 mph through residential streets
god I hate this shit so much. most wanted and carbon had no reservations about street racers being blatantly evil, but games nowadays try so fricking hard to make you into a good guy even when it makes zero sense. You can't make me play a reckless criminal murderer and then pretend like I'm the last bastion of free expression
i'm honestly half expecting them to announce GT7 is coming to PC in a few months right when Microsoft puts up the launch trailer for Forza. Would be a real "BLOCKED BY JAMES" moment for Sony.

That modern Sony is a filthy prostitute who loves getting fricked long and hard by big PC chad wiener in the same house that PlayStation owners paid the mortgage for? Yes, I do have something to prove. My dick is bigger than yours and Sony knows it. She's just playing hard to get, she always spreads those legs far and wide apart like the grand canyon for big Steamy dick.
Old Sony was a chaste Japanese woman with values and self-respect and shit. Modern Sony would lick a toilet bowl like Sasha Grey if you paid her enough.

this is something unbound did, they even tried that whole "oh us street racers are oppressed and shieeet" when it isn't aping fast and furious which became shitter after 2.
meanwhile nfsc is you going back to a old town afer nfsmw and then changing shit over because it was too much muh politics and less racing.
This isn't even what pisses me off the most about forza horizon. It's how the game doesn't even ask you to be good at it to beat it. You can come last in a race and you'll still get money and XP awards and unlock new races, and you can continue to suck at racing but it doesn't matter because you will be showered in cars and houses and prizes and praise. The whole game is a participation trophy and there's absolutely no sense of progression or reward or improvement because the game doesn't give a shit if you're terrible at it. It's a car collection sandbox masquerading as a racing game.
>You can come last in a race and you'll still get money and XP awards and unlock new races, and you can continue to suck at racing but it doesn't matter because you will be showered in cars and houses and prizes and praise
sounds like a game built for americans
I don't mind that part of it the progression just feels like I'm speedrunning it. A friend of mine convinced me to get Forza and has maybe like 150 cars and I'm at that point now after about 40 hours playing. It feels like there's no expectation from me and playing well on higher difficulty throws off the reward system so much I've just blasted right through it. I don't feel like I've got all that much else than fricking around with oddball cars or trying some different builds. Honestly that's enough game for me but it's at the point I don't get why everything isn't just unlocked from the start if it's going to be that heavy handed.
I have to actively prevent myself from playing pic related because there's something strangely addictive about cruising the Shuto Expressway and hunting for other racers.
I've watched many a night turn to morning playing this game. It should by no measure be fun to play, and has some of the worst driving physics known to man, but somehow it always steals several hours of my life any time I turn it on.
Same here anon. I think part of it is that its tough, but fair and every car is viable if tuned correctly, I've not long finished a run with only a stpwgn. For some reason everyone loves 3, but its not nearly as repayable as zero for me
open world racing games is what killed the arcade racing genre
instead of having tight, well designed courses you now have a huge, empty open world with meaningless shit to tick off AAA checkboxes (collectibles, le stunt jumps, challenges, cringy npc dialogue) and the only motivational factor is the player progression (new cars, etc), not the actual gameplay.
forza horizon, the crew, nu-nfs, its all the same slop. the only way to scratch that pure driving, gameplay itch is if you turn to simulators and i don't have money for a decent setup
I mean, burnout 3 was a single giant map with roads arbitrarily blocked off to make the different race routes, and one of the biggest complaints was that they should have had a mode where you just grab a car and freely drive around the whole big map. Its a problem with no solution.
Nadeo has done amazing work in order to make the most recent Trackmania game to be as unappealing as possible. It's like the, what?, 7th Trackmania game by now and they still can't get it right. Even worse, they're regressing.
TM2 in combination with Nations would have been almost the perfect game. I really like Canyon. But I grew up on TM1 so I would really like to see Rally, Snow and Desert make a comeback.

Ubisoft fricked up nadeo and almost gets their own creator fired lmao, thanks to ubisoft trackmania 2 is a fricking mess with untapped potential by selling the games separated instead of like united with all in one pack, even worse you cannot host multi environments like united, FRICK UBISOFT
TM2 in combination with Nations would have been almost the perfect game. I really like Canyon. But I grew up on TM1 so I would really like to see Rally, Snow and Desert make a comeback.
I havent played one since nfs undergound, i tried some forza horizons but have no interest in them because they dont have a progression system like nfs undergound had. Are there any newer racing games that start you out in an old banger and you have to slowly earn enough money to upgrade it etc.?
Picrel is the last racing game that i've played for hours, even online, and enjoyed. But, it is somewhat different, you can't frick up and still win in this one. There are some game breaking bugs/techniques however, that diminish the fun. People call it a feature, I call it bullshit. The game is still cool tho.
Because modern racing games have no idea or motivation do actually make a fun game.
See the comparison above. Now the horrible music is just one thing, looks at the speedometer. Both are going with relatively the same speed but the newer games just doesn't give feel like you are going fast at all. Which what how an arcade racer should fricking do. High octane action and taking turns at ridiculous speeds, zooming past non-racing vehicles.
They frick up the feeling and pacing completely and wonder why racing games aren't as popular as they were before.
New arcade racing games are all awful, perform badly, have microtransaction cancer, LGBT stuff and Black person music. More importantly they're not fun.
dont wanna buy a wheel that will take up space for something I probably wont play that much and don't really see the point in playing a racing game with a gamepad
>Why don't people play racing games anymore?
Because most people that enjoyed racing games before only enjoyed them casually and there's no such thing as a casual racing game anymore.
You think I'm going to pay full price for a racing game? On release? That's also GaaS? That also requires another app installed? You must be out of your fricking mind.
And that's not even mentioning the fact that they might as well be all the same game now too. Where's the Burnouts? The Motorstorms? It's taken them 12 years to make another Test Drive Unlimited game and it will probably be GaaS slop.
realistic racing games are dogshit, people want arcade racers and like psx/ps2 era racers, career modes, rally modes.
modern racing games are a) all about realism horseshit and giga fidelity shit car that you don't actually care about and b) like sports games overflowing with always online microtransactions from every orifice which, shockingly, makes all games bad.
if you're on PC yes, single player is fun but because EA is moronic they fricked up progression for some cars
by the time you finish the single player you'll only be level 13-14, not enough to unlock all the cars
They're too narrative driven. Pardon the pun.
Take Forza Horizon 5 for instance. I don't give a frick about hearing some Mexican woman babble on about her abuela when all I want to do is race cars.
what? fh5 completely lacks any coherent narrative, it has a bunch of unconnected mission series that take maybe twenty minutes each and that's it.
if anything, 2000s ricer shit (e.g. mw) is infinitely more plot heavy.
>hey anon welcome back here is a bunch of season events and useless shit to unlock, oh you just want to race ? Sure just travel half the map cluttered with boring challenges and useless xp points to smash. Btw here is some story missions where youll drive in a straight line while listening to some bullshit about how cool and hip you are and how racing is such an interesting lifestyle am I right kids huh that's what you like, oh and here you go you just unlocked yet another car that you won't use and fricking shoes for your avatar (they/them) because that's so important right........
Fast&Furious movies took the racing genre and skullfricked it, curb stomped it, then fricked the corpse some more, then threw it into a woodchipper, ate it/drank it, then shat it out in the form of the last few NFS games and others who can't help themselves, they have to emulate the thug/criminal shite, they just have to do it.
You simply cannot have a singleplayer game about driving a fricking car on a sunny day on a fricking road somewhere nice looking with a cool soundtrack of non gorilla huffing grunts without some frickwit or c**t talking in your ear constantly. It cannot be done, because the GTA series mindfricked a whole generation or two of players into expecting some drama behind the scenes, of you having to climb some fricking ladder into becoming king shit of turd mountain.
Constant tuning, constant repaints, constant kitschy shite, neons, headlights, spoilers, every single bit and bob a la mmorpg powerups and buffs to distract you from the lack of actual car damage in these games. You're still driving a fisher price plastic crap that doesn't dent or even break when you impact an oncoming vehicle at 200mph. Absolute garbage.
Racing games should either try to invent new looking cars and sounds because nobody cares about muh Mclolrens anymore when every schmuck with 70+ prostitutes on cams can get one OR they should become the fighting game version of themselves and by that i mean the cars you put in your game should behave 100% like any real car would in every single scenario. In fighting games, the characters have a lot of detail on them and a lot more resources are poured into every character than in other types of games. So just do it and make these cars react like real cars would. If you crash into a wall at 60mph, the car should behave in a way and if you crash into the same wall at 200mph then the car should be fine dust, you can also add blood and corpses too. Get in touch with the car makers and pay them to get their data on car crashes.
>they should become the fighting game version of themselves and by that i mean the cars you put in your game should behave 100% like any real car would in every single scenario
there is not a single successful fighting game where the fighters behave 100% like in real life
You're right, but there's a lot of detail in the mocap, in the designs, in the facial animation, etc.
All i'm asking is for driving games to do better driving experience than GTA games because GTA games have a lot of other stuff going for them while they also have the driving.
Racing games should have vehicles that behave as close to reality as possible while still giving you the sensation that driving fast can end you at any moment. You should dread that coming corner and brake in time or the race is over because now you're a fine mist among a donut shaped car wreck around a cement pole.
There's a pothole in track X at corner Y, you memorize it because otherwise you're gonna destroy your car if you drive into it. There's a shortcut at corner Z which leads you over a bridge that falls down after one car runs over it. More game in the racing game instead of worthless shite like putting fenders on your already clownish looking car. I'd want to see cars that don't actually exist but look cool. Invent new looking cars with futuristic designs that borrow from old and new, picrelated, ignore the animerobot.
I bet that if they made a new IP of racing games and forgot the bs around the old IPs that cannot be salvaged anymore imho, and made it about futuristic looking cars driving on wide motorways, suspended miles long bridges over the ocean which then go underground, etc innovative locations and then slap a techno/trance/electronic music on top of it it will garner a new audience of both old and new players. You simply cannot make the same game over and over again and expect different results.
>Racing games should have vehicles that behave as close to reality as possible >I'd want to see cars that don't actually exist
??? So you want realism or not?
>cars that don't exist wouldn't behave like other cars, they'd phase through walls or jump over mountains for sure
(You)
>Racing games should have vehicles that behave as close to reality as possible
This is literally the shit that killed racing games.
Look, i played Burnour3: Takedown, it was fun, back then. I don't want to drive plastic cans that take corners by sticking to walls anymore. That was cool back when i didn't have a driver's license.
>Look racing games were fun back during <the literal peak of racing games>, but I don't want that, I want the <exact shit that's been killing the genre for the past decade> to keep being made instead.

You are asking for shit that's already being made, is continuing to be made, and what's killing all interest in the genre right now. You are asking for more boring high simcade/simulator trash when that's what's flooding the market right now. Meanwhile the games people loved like Burnout are dead, and games like NFS are constantly plagued with low quality sequels.
Meanwhile Forza Horizon has borderline zero competition and everybody without a brain keeps scratching their scalp wondering why it's doing so well. Because it's the closest we fricking have to the older style of racing games.

poor comparison. mortal kombat isn't the only fighting game franchise being made. it's not singlehandedly holding up the genre it exists in.
>I don't want to drive plastic cans that take corners by sticking to walls anymore
The reason they dont do that in real races isnt because its not faster, its because they banned it for being unsafe. The game physics are like real physics, you get more speed by letting the wall turn you. No racing game will ever properly simulate the risk of death by taking these maneuvers, which is the point of a racing game.
Anonymous
Not every single racing game is about nascar. 99% of the time if you take a turn by sticking to a wall you're playing a criterion game.
Anonymous
This element of physics is universally true for all cars, it is just only remotely safe enough to be even considered as a possible maneuver in speed limited stock cars.
Or, you know, a 3-5 minute video game race where you can just reset if you crash.
>If you crash into a wall at 60mph, the car should behave in a way and if you crash into the same wall at 200mph then the car should be fine dust
BeamNG is for you, but it's more a sandbox than a proper game although it has more race tracks and better racing AI nowadays >Get in touch with the car makers and pay them to get their data on car crashes.
You will never get the Ferraris and Porsches and Lamborghinis to let you show their cars get realistically wrecked in games because that would "damage their reputation" somehow. Yes it's moronic and no, I'm not making it up.
The game in the image, Most Wanted. Yes, that is how the story escalates, you go from a small time street racer cheated out of your car to being so much of a danger that you may as well be on the CIA's highest watchlist.
NFS Most Wanted, the one on the right. As you progress, you get lots of attention from police and other people, and at the end of the game you technically go from city-wide criminal to state-wide criminal, and then to hunted target across the country. It gets even mentioned in Carbon (sequel) that there's 150k bounty for your head (10k for each blacklist member you beat).
The arcade racer died and people began taking the term "simulation racer" far too literally, resulting in games obsessed with minutia that are virtually indistinguishable to the layperson. It lost its casual appeal and so lost its footing as a market staple.
>crashes every 2 minutes >loading times is tied to framerate >increasing the framerate causes it crash every 30 secs >scripted races >fricking non racing QTEs in a racing game >every car besides the sesto elemento handles like a boat

>codemasters never understood what made some of their games good or at least decent
This. Don't know if it's arrogance or plain stupidity. I bet that an average vroomer has a better idea what a good sequel needs.

GRID 2 is an "okay" sequel in the same way RoboCop 2 is an "okay" sequel to RoboCop. In a vacuum it's decent, compared to the original, it's not even close.
Grid 1 had it nice and tidy.
- just short intro with one race
- immediately hop into career mode with just few inputs
- very comfy menu
- shuffle between japan / euro / usa region
- loads of autosports disciplines
- there is also lemans happening each "season"
Grid2
- start with loads of racing with normal cars
- some fricking video footage that nobody asking for of some "world series"
- i don't remember if I've managed to get into any autosports if any
Grid2 direction was just a letdown. I imagined that Grid2 would be simply Grid1 but with more autosport disciplines and tracks.
We're now at the point that the Criterion we know today couldn't make a proper Burnout sequel even if EA gave the greenlight, because almost nobody working at Criterion now was around for even Burnout Paradise, let alone Revenge and Takedown.
The first Forza Horizon is the only game in the Horizon series that genuinely feels like you're a part of a music/car festival.
Everything afterwords felt like a generic Ubisoft open world where you're the center of the universe and all the areas of the map blend together.
Hell, Horizon 1 is the only game in the series that actually forced you to use different cars and experiment. Every game after let you tailor every race to any car you want, so you could play the entire game in the same car. Only showcase events made you use a different car.
Also, why the frick hasn't there been a Horizon game set in Tokyo yet? I'm not a weeb, but fricking Britain and Mexico for locations? Lame.
I was kinda excited for Project Cars 3 but from what I've seen they completely ruined it, so what's on the horizon for simcade games? Forza 8?
I dumped like 180 hours into Horizon 3 and I might have been interested in Horizon 5 if the setting was literally any other country
And are sci-fi racing games completely dead?
>And are sci-fi racing games completely dead?
F-Zero 99 just came out and it seems to be doing pretty well. So that's a small sign of life. Some indie developers are still coming out with futuristic racers too. XF extreme formula and Aero GPX seem like they could be decent.
>And are sci-fi racing games completely dead?
Not completely. There's Redout, which just got a sequel, BallisticNG, as well as stuff like AeroGPX and XF Extreme Formula in the near future. It's far from the healthiest, but it's not extinct.
>so what's on the horizon for simcade games? Forza 8?
GT7 if you're a snoy, but yeah new forza ain't looking good. Some people have found fm4 assets in the trailers which is pathetic
Reflections (now named Ubisoft Reflections) is doomed to make The Crew until Ubisoft is done with that brand. Maybe then, we can get a new driver game.
That's why we don't have a recent Driver game. So sad. I played the Crew, it was fun but soul less. And forbidding configuring my buttons is a nonsense.
Doubt that at that point there are many og devs from the Driver era left. Well, at least some of the traditions were carried over to Watchdogs 1 where driving and police evasion were the highlights
not exactly what you are looking for but Mafia games have "realistic" or "classic" modes where you have to at least shift gears and cars vary greatly in handling.
I played 2 and 3. 2 driving was really comfy, but the races were too easy for me. 3 driving was too unrealistic. And I don't remember that there was manual gears.
I am sure at least remake 1 has it because it is enabled by default in classic mode

shit, i just did a quick google search here and both 2 and 3 only have speed limiters, no manual transmissions.
only the first game has it for whatever reason.
sorry about that
>2 driving was really comfy
Before buying the game, I spent a lot of time playing the free demo, driving around. Good game; could have done with having a bit more freeroam
The game would go from a 7 to a 10 if the actual race disciplines boxed off the routes with invisible yellow arrow barriers that prevented you from deviating outside of 1 or 2 shortcuts. The problem with Revenge is that Race is essentially no different from Point to Point or Time Trial. The AI itself does not deviate from a preset route, but that route is incredibly sub-optimal so no player will ever follow it... so now you're not really racing the AI, but a glorified clock.
Big name racing games are mired in monetisation and MTX. A lot of them - Forza, GRID, NFS - have also stagnated in terms of quality have given up focusing on the game mechanically to improve the game and instead focus on content which causes the games to have no innovations, or worse, lose previous innovations.
Trackmania and Kartrider lock themselves away from other platforms, failing to reach a larger playerbase despite how much work they put in to engage the players they do have.
Some indies try to innovate and push the genre forwards, but the smaller budgets and teams mean there's simply less content, so they make less impact in the market and don't affect significant change in the genre. The gems of contemporary racing games are basically ignored while the AAA stuff just sits there and rots.
>posting this after trackmania released on consoles & went f2p >posting this after forza horizon 5 presented the biggest physics improvent to date (and a few weeks before fm drops) >posting this after indie racing games like assetto corsa redefined the scene
sometimes i forget that no one on here actually plays video games.
the biggest mistake in the history of the genre was to try and make racing games heavy on narrative and plot
i'm here to drive cars, I don't give a shit about your street racer underdog story
I am, I'm just not a racing sim or "simcade" fan so my options are limited and I just end up booting up Burnout 3/Revenge in an emulator again because nobody has made something as based and feature complete as BallisticNG but for burnout instead of wipeout.
It might be due to my nostalgia, but i feel like racing games peaked with underground 2 and most wanted, old one, so i just dont bother with newer ones
You don't understand. They put effort in betraying Burnout spirit. Burnout 1 was very good, 2 start to add crashes event (which is stupid) but compensate by improving engine of Burnout. Burnout 3 is the beginning of descent to hell.
Waiting for it, but they are taking way too long releasing it somehow and i don't really like the weird shift in image it had recently. It went from high profile status images like it is made for 90s bentley commercial to horizon conscious fun times with cars.
They keep making them grindy. I just want a non kart racer with good looking graphics, good controls and good soundtrack where I can race my friends without needing to grind for 20hrs to get a viable car.
too much homosexual zoomer shit in new racing games (racing to pay off student loans). I don’t mind racing to jungle bunny music but not the crap that’s on the games they put out now, give me some lil john and the eastside boys
I wanna saying the racing genre was irreparably ruined by this series primarily.
It introduces: > gay ass hip hop storylines that pervades every fricking racing game today > gay ass "hub" where you drive around a fictional city to do hiphop shit before starting a race >open-ended racing in general which greatly ruins synergy of the traditional closed track race
I also despise this series for ultimately infecting the Burnout series with its shitty ideas.
midnight club did the last 2 first, NFS is to blame for the first one but really it was just cashing in on fast & furious and not something the developers came up with on their own.
You need to blame fast and furious in the mainstream - racing game have always been mostly a reflection of the car culture scene at any given time and F&F is where the ongoing shift from "dude, one day I will own a lambo but until then check out my the tuning on my fiesta!" to "dawg, look at all this shit I bolted to my car, ferrari's are lame yo! Holla holla get dolla"
In my opinion Hot Pursuit (2010) did it best. Map based levels available on an open world that you could free drive in. Makes for some interesting maps that combine two "previous" levels and stuff like that.
>you're like the third anon to reuse this bait on the thread, nicely done.
Okay it was definitely NFSU2 too then.
I was just assuming the cancer started earlier.
Not even NFSU2 is "hip hop". It's very punk rock and street scene, making the covers of magazines and car scene dvds.
It barely has a story to speak of.
The only open ended races are the weird "challenges" you do to random racers. You are correct that these are awful.
they are finite too, like you can ram each dude only three times and quickly pass them to get easy max distance while their car roll around three times or so.
Anon I want you to try and do a challenge race at the heights on hard difficulty.
It never fricking ends. No matter how hard they stack it, you physically cannot get away from them on that part of the map
there are many ways to win them even in the curve-filled observatory area, it's up to you from choosing but ramming them usually works since their car will be spinning post crash, giving you time to make distance.
Arcade Racers died when NFS switched over to Frostbyte. They always had dogshit awful handling, only Unbound has barely acceptable handling.
Forza Horizon handling is the gold standard but too bad its the same boring ass collectathon game since Horizon 3.
Ubisharts the Crew handling is still dosghit and a >60 fps lock in fricking 2023.
Codemasters makes 7/10 games that are worth getting when on deep sale. F1 series (yes its arcade frick you) are overpriced buggy mess but this 2023 installement has potential to get fixed by modders. So its probably worth buying for 5€ when 2024 is out.
Anyone else hyped as frick for EA WRC? Only mildly disappointed there will not be PCVR until post-launch. It's kind of hard for me to play a realistic racing game without VR now, flat screen is usually reserved for NFS and the likes.
If they do I hope its incredibly sparingly and only the really good maps. I'd be surprised though because each stage has to have 4 different versions for each season.
Racing games back then >flee from the police and pull breakneck stunts to crash them >customize your car with options still unrivaled today >the entire map is open to you
Racing games today >drive around in a circle >we have car[balanced], car[higher top speed, slower acceleration, worse handling] and car[lower top speed, higher acceleration, better handling]
Most racing games these days feel like a reskinned mario kart without the fun elements
What games are you even playing? Out of what I see as popular right now (Dirt Rally 2, Forza Horizon, Gran Turismo) none of them follow that formula. Are you just talking about Mario Kart 8? Or like, F-Zero 99?
Hybrid is still top tier to listen to. Was just thinking that there’s no more racers like this. There’s just shitty half assed simcades like Forza Horizon and HUNDREDS of kart racers of different IPs that play the same.
The only good one left besides full-on sims like Assetto Corsa was Gran Turismo, and Sony fricked that up by making the economy in 7 a miserable grind hoping people would break down and pay real money for digital cars. Forza is just the Horizon games now, which are zoomer Skinner boxes more than racing games.
Racing games then : >You get set up by a the cops and a group of racers but escape, narrowly avoiding death and prison but your car is wrecked, here's a VW Golf and $500, race your way back to the top, clear your name and become the king of the streets
Racing games now : >"AYYYY SUPERSTAR YOU'RE HERE !!!! Look at this festival we made JUST FOR YOU because you're heckin EPIC, LIT AF frfr!!! Now, how about we go and.... LE SMASH that heckin BILLBOARD at 400MPH ??? We've got the newest israelitegatti Oyveyyyron right here just for you, and you'll even get to keep the car, how's that for a welcome gift??? Oh btw trans rights are human rights!"
Sims are better than ever but arcade racers have turned into complete slop.
Every car is an indestructible tank and you just plow through traffic and roadside objects like they're not even there, it's not fun at all.
most of them are either overly realistic or overly unrealistic. there's no balance of fun and absurdity in anything now. wipeout was fun, and ballisticng looks like it might be in a similar light, but that's about it.
EVs are soulless and being shilled by Big Electricity. It will never work nor be affordable for you, but you WILL be forced to drive one in 7 years and pay the installment fees for your powerbank chuddie. As a result car culture is a dying breed of millennials and boomers. Recent stats in the UK showed 70% of zoomers dont even bother doing their driving test. They're public transport gays. There's no audience longterm for racing games but bus simulators and the like will be popular, zoomies love playing simulators instead of learning trades
Cars are soulless and being shilled by Big Oil. It will never work nor be affordable for you, but you WILL be forced to drive one in 7 years and pay the installment fees for your gas tank chuddie. A typical EV these days has a 250-300 mile range. Are you saying you would never stop to recharge your car? Even 15 mins to take a piss at a gas station and take a bite can get you a decent charge to continue for another 200 miles. It's very doable.

We have over 100 years of gas engine tech to make that so slim a chance to the point it never happens, and if it does you can safely escape.
EV cars have 10x the incidents since their inception. It will take decades until they're as safe as gas engines.
Cars in the 60s were cool but large metal deathtraps. Your battery car will be the same, as will your AI driving. Again enjoy the tech and I will when it's tested and improved from your casualty (F btw in advance)

I'm a random anon, but I already did. We leased a Tesla for a month to play around with it. Damn that double motor thing is fast. None of you homosexualy peasant priced petrol bullshit even comes close.
Besides it is possible to charge it at home or even at work, if you have a nice business building. One Friday I had a meeting and put my Tesla on Super Charger nearby. It went from 40 to 100% in less than an hour while we were talking bs in the meeting. With a range of over 300 miles it's good enough to drive through the city throughout the week.
I don't like how the Tesla looks from outside, the design, also don't quite like the build quality on the outside. Seems somewhat shabby.
But I absolutely love the self-driving part, the transparent roof, the interior design in general. I also love to control my car with an app.
TL;DR: Already did. For the money a new one costs I was impressed, because it beats most other manufacturers anyway. What would you rather buy for 40k, a new Tesla or a fricking Golf? Black person homosexual.

This has nothing to do with EVs.
Even normal cars now have keyless ignitions and they can easily stop you from starting the car unless you update just the same.
Anonymous
Except it does.
EVs are computers on wheels and need updates, they also can send notifications to developers/manufacturers. ICE car doesn't need that jazz. You turn on the engine and you're good to go.
Charging EVs can vary, and commonly charging battery can take few hours or half the day. Meanwhile ICE car tank takes less than 5 minutes to fill up and you're good to go.

Do you even consider where your electricity is coming from, and how many fossil fuels and how much clean water was used to mine the material for the battery?
EVs are a greenwashing scam, there's no benefit to them over liquid fuel and you end up trashing the batteries when they're spent.
And that's on top of all the other maintenance so you end up with people getting rid of entire cars and what's more, China is producing so many EVs that never get sold that they're just dumping them batteries and all in fields where they're just left to rot.
It's the latest rich man's fad toy. Enjoy your roadgoing iphone.

They don't have fuel in them you moron.
Do you see any other country pumping out EVs at an uncontrollable rate even though it was "forced" on them?
I don't think so.
It wasn't "forced" on china, they're pumping them out to meet perceived market demand by the state who gives the manufacturers gibs to produce, but since they don't sell in reality the manufacturer "buys" the cars straight off the assembly line then dumps them.
But yes, every country is in fact pumping out EVs for tax cuts, do you think they're naturally cheap or something and not because the government wants to look good on "environmental goals"?
Then there's the whole business with shit like the dirty oil trade with particularly Germany buying Russian oil via China to run power plants to meet the demand placed on the grid from EVs while simultaneously shutting down nuclear power.
It's a fricking mess.
>forza horizon >every road is wider than an airport runway >all tracks designed so you can just go full throttle the whole race and take every corner at 220 mph >OH WOW AWESOME EPIC YOU'RE THE MAN (female) HERE'S A 15 MILLION DOLLAR MANSION AND 20 CARS FOR FREE YOU ROCK SO MUCH EVERYONE'S HAVING SO MUCH FUN HERE'S ANOTHER FERRARI FOR YOU BTW
I play Forza Horizon 5 every week, and will switch to Motorsport when it comes out. I've also started playing NFS Unbound and finding it pretty enjoyable so far. Having to make it back to a safehouse to bank your cash actually adds a tension to it I like.
The last good console based arcade style racing game was PGR3. Now you have no good choices outside of Iracing. Sure some play Gran Turismo but only troons own a Ps5.
Because all i need is Midnight Club and NFS Underground 1 & 2. I need good soundtracks to sell me on racing games and for it to feel as arcadey as possible. For some reason i just don't want to stop playing the ones from the early 2000s. They are without equal, even if mechanically superior games exist today. Listen to this and try and tell me that you don't prefer the old ones.
I don't really like arcade racing games, driving cars with a controller is not fun. But also I'm not autistic enough to buy a simulator and play Asseto Corsa or iRacing all day
no its not that i just prefer using kbm.
but its on or off.
and with a stick its "infinite" points between 0 and 1 so accelerating and turning is just inherently going to feel better.
probably just a skill issue on my part.
The best arcade racers were progression games where you unlock fun things as you play. Microtransactions mostly killed this type of game. They tried making racing games where you can buy colors, parts, even entire cars. But what's the point? To have it? It was the surprise of unlocking something which added to the games.
Also in real life, people are squeezed even more by the elite and cars are no longer fun toys, but prisons. They are more expensive, less reliable, and more crucial to use just to keep your head above water. And I didn't even bring up gas. Millenials and newer gens don't like driving because they can't drive for fun.
last racing i played was NFS Heat and it was okay but died very fast after launch. was online multiplayer with the city being the game lobby. you could drive around and would see other players then you could pull up next to them and challenge
Honestly I love sims more than arcades, i love the tension on aiming for precision. Just would love a different approach to gamepads vs wheel, maybe even separate both types of players in online, if you got the wheel setup you always got a advantage.
Not even a money problem I just don't want to invest that much space on racing games, and controller is maximum comfy.
They're not like shooters, where a casual player can delude themselves into thinking they're on an even playing field with a good player and enjoy themselves because of that. Harder on the ego. I think it's harder to attach a casual player to the kind of grind that's inherent to AAA multiplayer games nowadays because of that, which makes them less appealing to make.
There's also the fact that AAA game development is just too big which means smaller games like older racing games often were just aren't going to be made as often. I've seen some neat looking indie racers though.
What driving games are you talking about?
If you're talking arcade, it's the same shit, if you're talking sim, then yes.
But then you also don't have simulated shooting games where a real life sniper will smoke any 12 year old kid on his console.
Sony killed Evolution
Sims are trash
Simcade can never strike a good balance
Need for Speed is in the shitter
had some okay fun with Wreckfest a while back but didn't quite scratch the itch
no one's making fun arcade anymore
you are fricking right, dude even in my shithole of a country shitboxes that used to be the saving grace of transportation are now extremely expensive.
My sister's car nearly doubled in price.
Same where I live. It's sad. Almost any poorgay used to be able to own and maintain a "fun" car if he put the time in, but nobody can afford it anymore.
For sure, but what options do people even have these days? In my day, it wasn't uncommon to see young men, 17-22, driving sick cars like RX-7, Camaro, Mustangs. The cars were used, cheap, and the guys worked on them and maintained them themselves. They were able to afford these fun cars while flipping burgers or stocking shelves part-time.
>Cars are gay now and almost nobody can afford them in the first place.
zoomer moron
but car culture(like most subcultures) ebbs and flows, when i was in school(frick me almost 15 years ago now) there was a huge car culture and not just in my town but in every town i went to in like a 5 hour radius.
it wasnt underground at all.
you would buy junkers and juice them up, go hooning, hang out at meetups every weekend
im sure if you actually looked for car gays in your area you would find them and if you had any fricking skills you would be able to buy junkers and work on them to make them really great.
but you dont care, you are just too lazy.
There was car culture 15 years ago because of F&F and NFS.
Now all zoomers see are some morons on youtube showing off their lambos and the brand has become a complete joke now.
You guys never leave your houses lmao

>There was car culture 15 years ago because of F&F and NFS.
How old are you? You know these only exist because the culture was already there, right? Specially NFS that came way late, when it was already dying. "Car culture" started in the 50s and peaked in the 80s-90s.
You can't buy dirt cheap junkers anymore, gramps. Do you remember 'cash for clunkers'? It ruined the used car market forever. I'd call you a moron, but you're old and confused. I'm old too, maybe not quite as old as you.

they're all GaaS trash now
Racing games, even the more fun arcadey style "pretending to be realistic" like gran turismo and forza, have crept more and more toward realism-sim to the point that it's pushing out casual players.
Not many people enjoy the idea of needing to drop hundreds on a force wheel and pedals, plus whatever a home console living room player autistically needs for that to work, to enjoy not sucking against those who do in multiplayer.
forza 8 kind of solves this with the assisted driving controller settings, but doesn't that feel low and forced, mm?
>to enjoy not sucking against those who do in multiplayer.
this is not true at all. outside of something like iracing the contrivances granted to traditional schemes are usually superior to sim setups.
you'll always be middle-of-the-pack rank at best using a controller
>iracing
ovals don't count
Pretty sure you don't need a wheel for Forza Horizon
>my own autistically specific bubble applies to the whole word
God I hate that meme
Hey, thats cool headcannon and all, but forza horizon keeps breaking records each release, so you're opinion is as valid as a blank post.
>it's breaking sales records, so it's good
>eating shit is good, because billions of flies can't be wrong
Are you also a Marvel shit and Fortnite enjoyer? Dabble in some gacha games, perhaps?

Absolutely not true. There’s a whole trend of “drift phonk” videos on YouTube. It’s how zoomies enjoy tuner culture

>epic high-contrast action gopro festival good vibes drone shot imagine dragons sponsored by redbull you did it champ
god I hate it
>YOU WON YOUR FIRST RACE (AGAINST NO COMPETITORS) HERE'S YOUR BUGATTI
>TIP: DRIVING STRAIGHT FOR 2 SECONDS AWARDS YOU STUNT POINTS
>NICE TOURNAMENT! HERE'S A NEW T-SHIRT FOR YOUR CHARACTER (THEY/THEM)
yeah forza's progression system i absolutely fricked since 3 and i cannot in good heart enjoy it anymore despite the driving physics being top tier
the only game i envy snoys is gran turismo, that game is pure soul
I've been playing motorfest, it's pretty good. Just need to mute voices and disable subtitles so you don't have to listen to pandering like
complains about.
>As in a trope that literally nobody likes or advocates for that somehow made itself into a genre staple.
wow players are the only ones who want to jack off to being some random murderhobo
Lmao based. I think NFS ProStreet started this whole festival/good vibes shite and FH1 took it into the mainstream
I 100% burnout 3 every year
i do it with nfsu2 too, would do carbon and mw but carbon is buggy in windows 10, i just love how cheesy the story is and the character intros look funny, made it seem that the actors enjoyed doing it.
I play Need for Speed Underground (the first) whenever I want to play a racing game.
Sad to hear Carbon is fugged, I had a lot of fun with it back when it came out.
peak soul
it's over
millions must die
Carbon works fine on W10 once you patch it properly
>carbon is buggy in windows 10
works on my machine
Carbon works well if you get 1.4 patch, extra options, and limit CPU affinity to single core and RAM to only 2GB.
Just emulate Carbon on RPCS3. Game is insanely light and has better graphics effect/textures than PC version anyways lol. I played in 8K on 1660ti and i5 9400f.
They do, they just don't talk about that. Especially on Ganker. There is /ovg/ for that.
The cutscenes are the most intolerable dreck ever committed to video, but the gameplay has such a great aesthetic
filtered
I only started playing it recently, before that I tried out Outbound
In comparison 2016 is a masterpiece in writing and character development
>2016 is a masterpiece in writing and character development
wow, that is dire
the whole story is about the evil cops and corporation being racist and oppressing muh poor street racers who just want to express themselves by driving at 200 mph through residential streets
Because everything needs to be relatable and every spectrum of autism has to be represented. When did earth become so gay?
>he doesn't know about nfsu2's fall from grace story
kek.
Cars are soulless now.
Just wake me the frick up when Gran Turismo 7 is on PC. That is all.
Probably never.
you will play forza motorsport
And then I'll immediately drop it when GT7 gets ported to PC.
>when
Dude, GT7 isn't that amazing on its own.
You need to have a wheel/pedals and PSVR2.
t. over 700 hours with it
I have a wheel and pedals and a VR headset.
I repeat:
Wake
me
up
when
GT
7
is
on
PC.
prepare to have a long slumber, anon.
i'm honestly half expecting them to announce GT7 is coming to PC in a few months right when Microsoft puts up the launch trailer for Forza. Would be a real "BLOCKED BY JAMES" moment for Sony.
the mogging would be so beautiful
I really think gt7 could be a sleeper hit on PC. I think it's probably too valuable as one of those games that actually keep people booting up their console and paying for online though
yeah, poor GT7. It's already dead enough
It's not like FM is going to do any better
Ho it will...
It won't.
Snoygays aren't going to ditch GT and all the Horizon babys coming into it will soon leave because there are no constant hypercar shower.
F
I don't care. I am superior to you Black folk.
I will NEVER buy a fricking PS5. You put a gun to my head and tell me to buy a PS5, I'll pull the fricking trigger myself. Sony is a prostitute for big PC wiener. GT7 WILL come to PC and I will laugh at your fricktards when it does.
Do you have something to prove anon?
That modern Sony is a filthy prostitute who loves getting fricked long and hard by big PC chad wiener in the same house that PlayStation owners paid the mortgage for? Yes, I do have something to prove. My dick is bigger than yours and Sony knows it. She's just playing hard to get, she always spreads those legs far and wide apart like the grand canyon for big Steamy dick.
Old Sony was a chaste Japanese woman with values and self-respect and shit. Modern Sony would lick a toilet bowl like Sasha Grey if you paid her enough.
pic related: a bunch of PC games.
>they need to put Kat and Kiryu on the image just to have at least a tiny bit of something good
kek
1 - i didn't tell you to buy one
2 - go back
If you can afford all that then surely you can afford a cheap console.
No.
Big, fat, girthy PC dick ALWAYS wins.
Kart racing is the future now, realistic sim racing gets stale after a while and the arcade racers is a mixed bag
You might as well start right now working on that PS5 emulator lol
See you in ~10 year then.
just wait for forza motorsport
Project Cars 2/iRacing/Asseto Corsa/rF2 are much better racing sims than GT7, just play that instead.
No, i will play test drive unlimited
>Hong Kong Island
I can't wait to experience traffic jams and having a monorail hogging the road.
wait and see if forza sells well on pc next month im sure sony will want some of that pie if it does
I've been counting on that since GT5P
the ones everyone hate? The ones that gave to Forza it's place?
Whatever
What forza and what place?
Because competitive homosexuals killed the whole genre. Same goes for MP shooter and mmorpgs.
not just mp shooters, anything mp.
zoomers and their homosexual competitive mindset, it started with millenials and tournaments though but it just keeps getting worse, thankfully it dies on it's own.
they naturally settled into an enthusiast niche that due to the modern saturation of all hobbies is still quite large. people play them but they're not casual system sellers anymore.
>HEEYYYYYY brooo, we have this huge festival going on!
>we're going to be RACING each other, that's right, that's what human festivals are all about, aint that right choom?
>we're all about GOOD VIBES and RACIN AND CHILL over here, so don't stress it over!
>we're here to HAVE FUN, remember? I will specifically scream at you at intervals for you to REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN, because that's what this festival is all about!
>this festival is going to be LEGENDARY! we're going to have SO MUCH FUN
yeah, I wonder why
this is something unbound did, they even tried that whole "oh us street racers are oppressed and shieeet" when it isn't aping fast and furious which became shitter after 2.
meanwhile nfsc is you going back to a old town afer nfsmw and then changing shit over because it was too much muh politics and less racing.
This shit made me give up on Forza Horizon 5 so fast holy shit.
Me too, brother. Me too.
Same here anon. I think part of it is that its tough, but fair and every car is viable if tuned correctly, I've not long finished a run with only a stpwgn. For some reason everyone loves 3, but its not nearly as repayable as zero for me
The only game I played last week was a racing game.
Same here. Been addicted to that game like crack for the last two weeks.
I still bring out my PS3 to play Motorstorm from time to time. SOVL
Motorstorm has no business being this good man. Also thanks God it's emulable nowadays
open world racing games is what killed the arcade racing genre
instead of having tight, well designed courses you now have a huge, empty open world with meaningless shit to tick off AAA checkboxes (collectibles, le stunt jumps, challenges, cringy npc dialogue) and the only motivational factor is the player progression (new cars, etc), not the actual gameplay.
forza horizon, the crew, nu-nfs, its all the same slop. the only way to scratch that pure driving, gameplay itch is if you turn to simulators and i don't have money for a decent setup
I mean, burnout 3 was a single giant map with roads arbitrarily blocked off to make the different race routes, and one of the biggest complaints was that they should have had a mode where you just grab a car and freely drive around the whole big map. Its a problem with no solution.
Trackmania is extremely popular because zoomers are into speedrun autism. I don't think any REAL racing game is popular.
>real
you have your autistic sim garbage, where everyone spend 99% of their time talking about their expensive setups and 1% about the racing itself
Racing involves strategy, not just driving fast.
too bad on sim shit they dont even talk about that either
Nadeo has done amazing work in order to make the most recent Trackmania game to be as unappealing as possible. It's like the, what?, 7th Trackmania game by now and they still can't get it right. Even worse, they're regressing.
Nations Forever was perfect and everything since has been down hill and I mostly blame Ubisoft's ownership.
Canyon is objectively the best Trackmania. The driving model has a much higher skill-ceiling and allows for far more interesting track layouts.
>canyon
My homies.
There are 7 Trackmania games? lol I thought it was just one
I havent played one since nfs undergound, i tried some forza horizons but have no interest in them because they dont have a progression system like nfs undergound had. Are there any newer racing games that start you out in an old banger and you have to slowly earn enough money to upgrade it etc.?
My Summer Car
Ive heard good things about that. It's not a racing game though, right?
It can be, providing you have enough passion and conviction.
I still play horizon regularly
ywnbaw
>tranime has shit taste and is proud of it
shock horror
Shit taste in what? Mazda RX7 is a sweet car
I am looking forward to the new forza motorsport. The horizon games are boring as frick.
dont wanna buy a wheel that will take up space for something I probably wont play that much and don't really see the point in playing a racing game with a gamepad
Not to mention needing to buy an entire new peripheral for one type of game
Racing genre is at least somewhat alive. You know what truly is dead? Vehicle combat.
Mario kart garbage replaced that
realistic racing games are dogshit, people want arcade racers and like psx/ps2 era racers, career modes, rally modes.
modern racing games are a) all about realism horseshit and giga fidelity shit car that you don't actually care about and b) like sports games overflowing with always online microtransactions from every orifice which, shockingly, makes all games bad.
The funny thing is current gaas racing slop still can't hold candle to Motor City Online from 2 decades ago.
i still do
Most pc gamers just play Lol/Dota and multiplat.
Most pc gamers cant play at 4k or activate RT.
>Most pc gamers
>meaning specifically this anon and his friends
so glad mobas are fricking dying.
What game is that?
racing vidya has never been better
These graphics look like shit
comparatively to OP yeah, it's a older game.
Burnout Revenge and Outrun 2 are the top of the genre.
burnout paradise at least has a decent soundtrack but it lost much of what made it burnout.
fricking EA, man.
Should I buy Hot Pursuit remastered (Obviously when there's a sale) if I'm only play solo?
No, the only good part of that one is a multiplayer
Don't listen to that anon. Hot Pursuit has a good amount of single player content
if you're on PC yes, single player is fun but because EA is moronic they fricked up progression for some cars
by the time you finish the single player you'll only be level 13-14, not enough to unlock all the cars
Because they're all shit and don't want to be fun and just want money purely only
ridge racer 2 psp > any nfs shit
nfs carbon otc > ridge racer psp
i don belief u
ye it's just another annoying unenjoyable nfs game
play rr2 on psp
They're too narrative driven. Pardon the pun.
Take Forza Horizon 5 for instance. I don't give a frick about hearing some Mexican woman babble on about her abuela when all I want to do is race cars.
what? fh5 completely lacks any coherent narrative, it has a bunch of unconnected mission series that take maybe twenty minutes each and that's it.
if anything, 2000s ricer shit (e.g. mw) is infinitely more plot heavy.
It was enough to make me drop it because I got completely sick of it.
any racing from the 90s and early 00s was pretty great, just pure car porn and having fun. no silly "story mode", just driving.
>hey anon welcome back here is a bunch of season events and useless shit to unlock, oh you just want to race ? Sure just travel half the map cluttered with boring challenges and useless xp points to smash. Btw here is some story missions where youll drive in a straight line while listening to some bullshit about how cool and hip you are and how racing is such an interesting lifestyle am I right kids huh that's what you like, oh and here you go you just unlocked yet another car that you won't use and fricking shoes for your avatar (they/them) because that's so important right........
>still no new burnout game
Why even live bros...
because racing games emit too much carbon
Get in touch with the car makers and pay them to get their data on car crashes.
>they should become the fighting game version of themselves and by that i mean the cars you put in your game should behave 100% like any real car would in every single scenario
there is not a single successful fighting game where the fighters behave 100% like in real life
The closest thing I can think of is Virtua Fighter and even that takes a few liberties.
>Racing games should have vehicles that behave as close to reality as possible
>I'd want to see cars that don't actually exist
??? So you want realism or not?
>cars that don't exist wouldn't behave like other cars, they'd phase through walls or jump over mountains for sure
(You)
Look, i played Burnour3: Takedown, it was fun, back then.
The thread subject is why people don't play racing games anymore. I said what i'd like to see in a racing game for me to be interested in it. I emulated Burnout3 a few years ago on my pc, and i have no interest in playing something like that again.
>The thread subject is why people don't play racing games anymore. I said what i'd like to see in a racing game for me to be interested in it. I emulated Burnout3 a few years ago on my pc, and i have no interest in playing something like that again.
you are exactly the type of player that modern racing games target.
>you are exactly the type of player that modern racing games target.
>he actually typed out after reading my post in which i take a large steamy one all over modern racing games
The pajeets that AAA publishers hire to shill here aren't great at english.
Yeah, makes sense. AAA Pajeet shills hired by corporations crapping all over the games these AAA studios are producing, and asking for the classic games nobody makes any more.. Really got some logic behind that.
Twat.
>anon asks for realistic racing sim shit
>it's literally what modern racing games are, no arcade like racing sims are being made outside indies
here's your (you) for forcing me to explain the joke of anon's utter moronation
You can crap all over them all you want, it doesn't change the fact what you're asking for is exactly what they're producing.
>Man I hate MTX, I wish games would instead give me smaller priced DLCs that only cost a dollar or so
See, I've twisted the words, but I'm ultimately asking for the same thing.
To be fair, he also said 'man, i wish crashing forced me to lose and then reset the race' except M rated and with gore.
>anon takes a big fat dump on modern games but then proceeds to ask for more of it
do you work hard to be this much of a fricking moron or you were naturally born one?
You are asking for shit that's already being made, is continuing to be made, and what's killing all interest in the genre right now. You are asking for more boring high simcade/simulator trash when that's what's flooding the market right now. Meanwhile the games people loved like Burnout are dead, and games like NFS are constantly plagued with low quality sequels.
Meanwhile Forza Horizon has borderline zero competition and everybody without a brain keeps scratching their scalp wondering why it's doing so well. Because it's the closest we fricking have to the older style of racing games.
>Meanwhile Forza Horizon has borderline zero competition and everybody without a brain keeps scratching their scalp wondering why it's doing so well.
This Forza Horizon? with the c**t yapping in your ear constantly?
?si=HJFS77rgTEfZGgNt&t=6478
>Sold millions of copies, continues to have and won GOTY, and averages nearly 10K players just on Steam, not counting Game Pass and Xbox players
Mortal Kombat sold millions of copies, it's the best selling fighting game series of all time. My point is that this Forza Horizon game series is the equivalent of FIFA and Madden games. Normalgays buy the same game every year.
and it has no competition because NFS is having a weird identity crisis due to some suit barking orders at devs to put inane crap that isn't racing and burnout is fricking dead also blur was a weird acid trip.
so yeah, no competition.
based
yes, despite all the constant annoying nagging, forza horizon is the biggest arcade franchise today, because no fricker is daring to compete in the same ballpark. the closest we've seen is crew motorfest.
poor comparison. mortal kombat isn't the only fighting game franchise being made. it's not singlehandedly holding up the genre it exists in.
Not every single racing game is about nascar. 99% of the time if you take a turn by sticking to a wall you're playing a criterion game.
This element of physics is universally true for all cars, it is just only remotely safe enough to be even considered as a possible maneuver in speed limited stock cars.
Or, you know, a 3-5 minute video game race where you can just reset if you crash.
Burnout 3 punished you for wall riding my dude, you got no boost and in that game boost is life.
I can tell you the exact point where arcade racers died and that was Burnout Revenge.
>Racing games should have vehicles that behave as close to reality as possible
This is literally the shit that killed racing games.
>t.moron that never played burnout
>If you crash into a wall at 60mph, the car should behave in a way and if you crash into the same wall at 200mph then the car should be fine dust
BeamNG is for you, but it's more a sandbox than a proper game although it has more race tracks and better racing AI nowadays
>Get in touch with the car makers and pay them to get their data on car crashes.
You will never get the Ferraris and Porsches and Lamborghinis to let you show their cars get realistically wrecked in games because that would "damage their reputation" somehow. Yes it's moronic and no, I'm not making it up.
Modern racing games could never.
god i love this game so much, i play it at least once every year
Man what a soundtrack
Is this the one with the trucks or am I thinking of 2? I haven't played it in 20 years.
no trucks
I had to look it up. I'm pretty sure I'm thinking of Rage Racer. It has trucks in it.
?t=490
but I played FH4, FH5 and GT7 recently, why would you lie like that on the internet?
Which racing game has you become a domestic terrorist? Genuinely curious.
Underage
osama kart.
It lost its casual appeal and so lost its footing as a market staple.
it was good
>crashes every 2 minutes
>loading times is tied to framerate
>increasing the framerate causes it crash every 30 secs
>scripted races
>fricking non racing QTEs in a racing game
>every car besides the sesto elemento handles like a boat
no, worst game blackbox ever made next to undercover
>Every sequel sucks ass
I am still fricking mad.
i feel like codemasters never understood what made some of their games good or at least decent. with every new game they put out, it seemed like they tried something else and it got progressively worse
>grid legends
just fricking kill me. at least some of the f1 games these days are decent but they belong to EA now so its probably all downhill from here
>codemasters never understood what made some of their games good or at least decent
This. Don't know if it's arrogance or plain stupidity. I bet that an average vroomer has a better idea what a good sequel needs.
Don't a lot of people like GRID 2?
I imagined that Grid2 would be simply Grid1 but with more autosport disciplines and tracks.
>very comfy menu
very
Frick that game was so good, such good memories
We're now at the point that the Criterion we know today couldn't make a proper Burnout sequel even if EA gave the greenlight, because almost nobody working at Criterion now was around for even Burnout Paradise, let alone Revenge and Takedown.
The only racing game I ever enjoyed was Kinetica. I feel I would waste money getting into them and not like them.
It doesn't innovate anymore, so all it can do is carve out a niche.
>It doesn't innovate anymore
There is no innovation in any genre
I want a good driver game. With manual gears, realistic driving, real rear view mirror, wienerpit view and difficulty.
richard burns rally
It's not a Driver game, you're not freely driving in a city trying to lose cops.
sovl with only 70's cars the game would've been svper sovl
Reflections (now named Ubisoft Reflections) is doomed to make The Crew until Ubisoft is done with that brand. Maybe then, we can get a new driver game.
That's why we don't have a recent Driver game. So sad. I played the Crew, it was fun but soul less. And forbidding configuring my buttons is a nonsense.
Doubt that at that point there are many og devs from the Driver era left. Well, at least some of the traditions were carried over to Watchdogs 1 where driving and police evasion were the highlights
How can you make one the best arcade driving physics model ever for Driver games, and that make whatever the hell it is in The Crew?
What's wrong with the crew?
not exactly what you are looking for but Mafia games have "realistic" or "classic" modes where you have to at least shift gears and cars vary greatly in handling.
trying to do the race in classic mode is hell btw
I played 2 and 3. 2 driving was really comfy, but the races were too easy for me. 3 driving was too unrealistic. And I don't remember that there was manual gears.
>. And I don't remember that there was manual gears.
you need to enable it in options or something.
I think you're dreaming but maybe you're right.
I am sure at least remake 1 has it because it is enabled by default in classic mode
That's the only one I didn't play.
shit, i just did a quick google search here and both 2 and 3 only have speed limiters, no manual transmissions.
only the first game has it for whatever reason.
sorry about that
>2 driving was really comfy
Before buying the game, I spent a lot of time playing the free demo, driving around. Good game; could have done with having a bit more freeroam
Frick you, I liked it.
*Paradise
Not Revenge, frick me. Half asleep, was posting about Revenge earlier.
Attention gamers, I am going to borrow a ps3 from a friend and play gt5 an gt6, I will also hack it so I can play gt6 online
That's all
Because we aren't football gays that play the same track till the end of time
Cuz I'm not a RACIST, chud
Heh, gottem
Only looking forward to both nfsu2 remake on unreal and the RTX remaster
The gems of contemporary racing games are basically ignored while the AAA stuff just sits there and rots.
>posting this after trackmania released on consoles & went f2p
>posting this after forza horizon 5 presented the biggest physics improvent to date (and a few weeks before fm drops)
>posting this after indie racing games like assetto corsa redefined the scene
sometimes i forget that no one on here actually plays video games.
the biggest mistake in the history of the genre was to try and make racing games heavy on narrative and plot
i'm here to drive cars, I don't give a shit about your street racer underdog story
That's an issue for almost all genres. Stories everywhere, why do they think they have to make movies?
I am, I'm just not a racing sim or "simcade" fan so my options are limited and I just end up booting up Burnout 3/Revenge in an emulator again because nobody has made something as based and feature complete as BallisticNG but for burnout instead of wipeout.
It might be due to my nostalgia, but i feel like racing games peaked with underground 2 and most wanted, old one, so i just dont bother with newer ones
Underground 2 can't ever be the peak due to insane rubber banding but man is it comfy.
>Underground 2 can't ever be the peak due to insane rubber banding but man is it comfy.
just disable catch up on the menu, dude.
Nothing has surpassed Burnout 3.
Kill cam is a sin. Burnout 3 is a bad game.
You can literally turn off kill cam in options.
You don't understand. They put effort in betraying Burnout spirit. Burnout 1 was very good, 2 start to add crashes event (which is stupid) but compensate by improving engine of Burnout. Burnout 3 is the beginning of descent to hell.
>No story
>No art style
That's it.
I moved on from Racing games to Racist games
What about TDU solar crown
Waiting for it, but they are taking way too long releasing it somehow and i don't really like the weird shift in image it had recently. It went from high profile status images like it is made for 90s bentley commercial to horizon conscious fun times with cars.
i aint no racist
The generation that cares about cars and racing is over 40 now.
If that's the case why are racing games all aimed at children.
i do, waiting for the new forza to come out
They keep making them grindy. I just want a non kart racer with good looking graphics, good controls and good soundtrack where I can race my friends without needing to grind for 20hrs to get a viable car.
well are any new one any good?
stuff like Forza or Unbound
No
>new games
>good
that's a good one anon
The genre peaked with Burnout 3. Perfection was reached and there was nowhere to go but down.
For me it's Midnight Kino 2
>ywn have mdc because cuckstar
I play the game just to make this aussie c**t seethe I stole his car AND his bike (and probably his sheila too).
you know what's funny? fast and furious tokyo had a game made.
also you will now remember mannie fresh.
I am more of an arcade kind of guy and i don't like paying for online. My pc is also really shitty
>Why don't people play racing games anymore?
they do though
>Yopu now remember the best wienerpit view in the entire genre
The dashboard blur was a good effect, but it was excessively shaky
too much homosexual zoomer shit in new racing games (racing to pay off student loans). I don’t mind racing to jungle bunny music but not the crap that’s on the games they put out now, give me some lil john and the eastside boys
>racing to pay off student loans
lmao which NFS does this?
Racing gaymes died with NFS Carbon it is how it is
Same reason skate games and "extreme" sports game don't get made anymore. People are over that culture.
I wanna saying the racing genre was irreparably ruined by this series primarily.
It introduces:
> gay ass hip hop storylines that pervades every fricking racing game today
> gay ass "hub" where you drive around a fictional city to do hiphop shit before starting a race
>open-ended racing in general which greatly ruins synergy of the traditional closed track race
I also despise this series for ultimately infecting the Burnout series with its shitty ideas.
If I remember correctly. Need for Speed Underground 1 didn't have a hub, and the races weren't open-ended.
Though I am open to correction.
Nah you're correct. Not-so-coincidentally, Underground 1 had the best tracks out of the whole Black Box street racing era of the series.
midnight club did the last 2 first, NFS is to blame for the first one but really it was just cashing in on fast & furious and not something the developers came up with on their own.
Holla holla get dolla"
you're like the third anon to reuse this bait on the thread, nicely done.
burnout 3 and nfsu1 had no hubs, they were map based.
In my opinion Hot Pursuit (2010) did it best. Map based levels available on an open world that you could free drive in. Makes for some interesting maps that combine two "previous" levels and stuff like that.
HP2010's crime was no single race mode.
>burnout 3 and nfsu1 had no hubs, they were map based.
That's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation.
>you're like the third anon to reuse this bait on the thread, nicely done.
Okay it was definitely NFSU2 too then.
I was just assuming the cancer started earlier.
assumptions make an ass out of you and (You)
Not even NFSU2 is "hip hop".
Maybe I just have PTSD from doing a challenge with the Supra in that area
How's that Solar Crown thing shaping up?
We have forza horizon at home. I still hold out that it will be good but i'm also highly delusional.
Anyone else hyped as frick for EA WRC? Only mildly disappointed there will not be PCVR until post-launch. It's kind of hard for me to play a realistic racing game without VR now, flat screen is usually reserved for NFS and the likes.
It looks good yeah. Hopefully Codeshart fixed the asphalt physics.
Will they reuse stage from dirt rally again?
If they do I hope its incredibly sparingly and only the really good maps. I'd be surprised though because each stage has to have 4 different versions for each season.
there was a comfy thread yesterday, glad to see it back.
What would you guys consider the best racing game for:
wheel setups
gamepad
Euro Truck Simulator 2 with the speed limiter turned off and the break petal unbound.
Thank me later
For gamepads (and even keyboards) right now I think its that Trackmania 2020. The amount of actually good custom content is just insane.
Racing games back then
>flee from the police and pull breakneck stunts to crash them
>customize your car with options still unrivaled today
>the entire map is open to you
Racing games today
>drive around in a circle
>we have car[balanced], car[higher top speed, slower acceleration, worse handling] and car[lower top speed, higher acceleration, better handling]
Most racing games these days feel like a reskinned mario kart without the fun elements
Racing games back then
>not racing
>not racing
>not racing
People like you ruined racing games forever.
>when 3:17 hits
?si=-XgIveTKEQIy-Mhs
What games are you even playing? Out of what I see as popular right now (Dirt Rally 2, Forza Horizon, Gran Turismo) none of them follow that formula. Are you just talking about Mario Kart 8? Or like, F-Zero 99?
its literally the other way around
Are you moronic? None of these are issues and the "today" actually describes some shit like Daytona pretty well lmao
I'm just waiting for BeamNG to get a racing update
Just 10 more years bros they're gonna make it
Modern open world Japan when?
I thought we were gonna get one with The Crew Motor-fest but I guess that it's just Hawaii.
Probably never, sadly. People would b***h there's no long straights for their Bugatti Jesko to reach 500kph.
I hate hypercars so much it's unreal.
>japan has no straight roads
the mind of your average Gankertard
Assetto Corsa with the Shutoku mod is the closest you’re getting.
Car racers got boring some years ago, virutally every one went the way of the wacky, semi-realistic motorshow with forced diversity characters.
Futuristic racers are still fun and challenging.
Wave Race is also a racing game.
Hybrid is still top tier to listen to. Was just thinking that there’s no more racers like this. There’s just shitty half assed simcades like Forza Horizon and HUNDREDS of kart racers of different IPs that play the same.
>Physics and feeling haven't improved much since second generation console/arcade games
They are really pretty 2003 games.
is this game emulatable yet? i played the first game and thought it was alright but i heard this game was better.
Still hasn't been topped.
>Wheels
wew lad
might as well play the OG instead of some gay copy.
GC version is the greatest f zero
Debatable.
Runs fine on xemu.
>815 km/h
looks like 100 tops. sense of speed is fricked
Racing games then :
>You get set up by a the cops and a group of racers but escape, narrowly avoiding death and prison but your car is wrecked, here's a VW Golf and $500, race your way back to the top, clear your name and become the king of the streets
Racing games now :
>"AYYYY SUPERSTAR YOU'RE HERE !!!!
>Jewgatti Oyveyyyron
>pay for the console
>pay for the game
>pay for the online
>pay for the cars
>pay for the season pass
Nah, I'll just emulate Gran Turismo 3.
I fricking HATE supercars, gimme Golf II and let me tune it into fricking rocket.
As a result horse culture is a dying breed of gentlemen and aristocrats. Recent stats in the UK showed 70% of nobles don't even bother doing their driving lessons. They're public horse carriage gays. There's no audience longterm for horse riding games but carriage simulators and the like will be popular, peasants love playing simulators instead of learning trades.
EVs are the only sound purchase decision where I live. 180% tax on diesel and benzin cars mean that Electrics give so much more "value for money".
Enjoy your soulless driving experience
I'm not going to argue that point. But a Tesla Y costs the same as a VW Polo.
It's fricking fricked mate, big time.
EVs smoke your ancient scrap buckets powered by dead animals
>brb, sorry, just gotta recharge my car
>brb, sorry, just gotta survey for crude oil
>hey, sorry I won't be able to make it this Weekend! I can't afford the State dlc, my tesla just shuts off when I cross the border
>tesla is the only EV
I bet you own an iphone, homosexual.
A typical EV these days has a 250-300 mile range. Are you saying you would never stop to recharge your car? Even 15 mins to take a piss at a gas station and take a bite can get you a decent charge to continue for another 200 miles. It's very doable.
Until your battery overheats and blows up. What a death
>he thinks regular cars don't spontaneously combust as well.
Also, batteries don't blow up moron.
Oh sorry, yeah they just turn into an uncontrollable inferno, my bad lol
Yes, just like regular cars.
I'll let you be the guinnea pig lad
lmao your posts reek of ignorance.
You like those old people back in the day who thought computers are the work of the devil
I'll stick with what works and let you drive the testmobiles lad
Just like I let you test out that new vax
lmao you're the kind of homosexual who'd stay on his horse 100 years ago and say that all cars are pointless.
They were originally. The horse was faster and more comfortable than the first wave of Fords
My point is that gays like you stifle innovation because they things anything they don't understand or like should not exist, which is pretty much anything new.
If it was aup to you, there would be no cars adn you'd still eb fricking your horse's ass.
I dont recall saying that. I recall saying you're the guinnea pig for the new tech that will help me make my informed choice in the future
Fingers crossed you don't get ignited ay
>he keeps flaunting his ignorance
lmao
You know how your gas tank in your "normal" car is reinforced so it doesn't get punctured and ignited after every tiny crash?
Yes, the same shit is done with EV batteries.
>b-but it c-can still happen
Yes, just like how normal cars can still catch fire after a crash.
Stay ignorant moron.
Stay lit fąm
>ą
>let you drive the testmobiles lad
I don't want my car sending me app notifications about it being lonely or requiring me to updoot its software before i can set out
This has nothing to do with EVs.
Even normal cars now have keyless ignitions and they can easily stop you from starting the car unless you update just the same.
>Charging EVs can vary, and commonly charging battery can take few hours or half the day. Meanwhile ICE car tank takes less than 5 minutes to fill up and you're good to go.
Ok, but nobody asked?
You clearly don't like cars, for you it's just a commuter. Why are you on a thread about racing games?
>you don't agree with me so now I've decided you don't like cars
absolute cope
>I have no response therefore cope
Again, what are you doing here if all you care about is commuting? Have you ever done anything with your car more intensive than hitting 75mph for a few seconds on a highway?
>I have no response therefore cope
Yes, that's literally you. That's what i was saying why are you repeating me?
>Talk at length about how much he likes his new car
>You just don't like cars
Lolwut
Go away with this EV shit, hydrogen boys are taking over from here.
>he doesn't drive cold fusion car
lol lmao even
We tried that hydrogen meme even before EVs.
it worked even less.
>My battery powered inefficient bomb wagon that runs on dead animals is better than whatever you have
Do you even consider where your electricity is coming from, and how many fossil fuels and how much clean water was used to mine the material for the battery?
EVs are a greenwashing scam, there's no benefit to them over liquid fuel and you end up trashing the batteries when they're spent.
And that's on top of all the other maintenance so you end up with people getting rid of entire cars and what's more, China is producing so many EVs that never get sold that they're just dumping them batteries and all in fields where they're just left to rot.
It's the latest rich man's fad toy. Enjoy your roadgoing iphone.
>Chinks are subhumans so it's somehow the EVs fault
It kind of is, because this shit wouldn't happen if the west hadn't forced an EV market in the first place.
They did this shit with internal combustion engine cars too, but they don't really contain any comparable toxins.
Do you see any other country pumping out EVs at an uncontrollable rate even though it was "forced" on them?
I don't think so.
America already is doing it with Tesla. Germany is also catching with Volkswagen. Chinks just copy America and israelites.
Nobody asked for you to shill EVs either.
lmao you sound mad your ramblings got shut down
You sound like one of those pretentious kids who think EV = good for environment.
>he pretends to care for the environment all of a sudden
lmao
I bet you didn't even know what lithium was before you found out it could be used to push your agenda
I actually knew about EVs and their structure before it was a rich people fad pushed by big government so morons like you could join ranks of same morons who buy iphones and shill tech that gets quickly outdated.
If anything, EVs are nothing more than iphones on wheels, praised by loud mouthed mouthbreathers like you, and shilled by government so we could "go green" while in reality they'd just keep everybody dirt poor and frick up cities and economies even more.
>malding schizo conspiracy rant
opinion discarded
>They did this shit with internal combustion engine cars too, but they don't really contain any comparable toxins
Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sir... do you not know about leaded?
They don't have fuel in them you moron.
95% of all driving experiences are soulless, the enthusiast market has always been small
>t. Couldn't pass the test
Driving a nice car on road trips is kino, skill issue on your behalf. Maybe stick to buses
Most driving isn't road trips, most driving is getting groceries, followed by commuting
yo he's bussin
moron.
Racing games are more popular than ever.
Your f zero game with 98 bots doesn't count
moron.
Forza made racing games more popular than ever.
I don't give a shit if you don't like it. it's objectively true.
I only play racing games if I can play it with one of these
that leaves out 80% of every single racing game
I haven't fell in love with a racing game in a long time, I think anything after 2018 basically sucks.
Thirsty Corolla
>forza horizon
>every road is wider than an airport runway
>all tracks designed so you can just go full throttle the whole race and take every corner at 220 mph
>OH WOW AWESOME EPIC YOU'RE THE MAN (female) HERE'S A 15 MILLION DOLLAR MANSION AND 20 CARS FOR FREE YOU ROCK SO MUCH EVERYONE'S HAVING SO MUCH FUN HERE'S ANOTHER FERRARI FOR YOU BTW
Only highways are airport runways.
honestly? because theyre boring. they have barely changed at all since the PS1. if you've played a handful then you've played them all.
It’s one of the only genres I play anymore, I don’t have time for huge rpgs or games with a ton of cutscenes.
1999 Racing Lagoon was the peak of the genre
Simulators and simcades killed car games
I got my drivers license a couple months ago at 31
loved this game as a kid, nice soundtrack and cool cars. also engaging story for a 12 year old kid to sorta be invested in
I play Forza Horizon 5 every week, and will switch to Motorsport when it comes out. I've also started playing NFS Unbound and finding it pretty enjoyable so far. Having to make it back to a safehouse to bank your cash actually adds a tension to it I like.
We need more like this instead of those fricking social media cancer driving games.
Isn't Wreckfest basically Flatout with a different name?
Yes but it's more "serious" and you only get to drive on race tracks.
There's also a bootleg slav (?) Flatout
The last good console based arcade style racing game was PGR3. Now you have no good choices outside of Iracing. Sure some play Gran Turismo but only troons own a Ps5.
if its not need for speed hot pursuit or burnout paradise or split/second i dont care.
post you're wife
That's clearly a guy driving.
his wife is in the trunk
is this the board where we make unsubstantiated claims with no proof and smugly play them off as a fact?
>is this the board where we make unsubstantiated claims with no proof and smugly play them off as a fact?
First time here?
Just play Assetto Corsa.
What other sim game do you even need?
>just install 5 billion trillion mods, bro
>just drive around with zero context
no thanks
>>just drive around with zero context
That's what majority of people do after they finish open world games.
>context
the context is you have a need for speed.
now hit the gas gay.
>>just drive around with zero context
>needing context to drive
what are some must have mods? also how is the multiplayer scene?
Because everything is trying to be Forza Horizon and that's shit. NFS on the other hand wants the gay zoomer nignog demographics, for some reason.
Post the israelitegatti Oyveyron copypasta.

But also I'm not autistic enough to buy a simulator and play Asseto Corsa or iRacing all day
Sonic Does what Others Don't
imagine the tens of thousands of man hours WASTED on sonic
thats what keeps me up at night
But I do?
>racing sucks with mouse and keyboard
i know its impossible to fix this but i hate controllers and steering wheels and i love racing.
sigh
>i hate steering wheels
huh
Maybe he likes bike racing.
>huh
these things
well... yes i do, how did you know.
>bikegay
Thanks for the advance notice. Now i can safely ignore your opinion.
yeah any sort of bike game is just trash if you're used to the real thing
no its not that i just prefer using kbm.
but its on or off.
and with a stick its "infinite" points between 0 and 1 so accelerating and turning is just inherently going to feel better.
probably just a skill issue on my part.
why do I like looking at early 2000s racing games so much?
The best arcade racers were progression games where you unlock fun things as you play. Microtransactions mostly killed this type of game. They tried making racing games where you can buy colors, parts, even entire cars. But what's the point? To have it? It was the surprise of unlocking something which added to the games.
Also in real life, people are squeezed even more by the elite and cars are no longer fun toys, but prisons. They are more expensive, less reliable, and more crucial to use just to keep your head above water. And I didn't even bring up gas. Millenials and newer gens don't like driving because they can't drive for fun.
Modern NFS made me a racist
Games for this feel
Driver 1 and 2
beamng drive
They make them exclusively for car dorks who actually care about realistic handling, when most people just want something that plays fun.
last racing i played was NFS Heat and it was okay but died very fast after launch. was online multiplayer with the city being the game lobby. you could drive around and would see other players then you could pull up next to them and challenge
>spins out
>cut
>just keeps driving as if nothing happened
Honestly I love sims more than arcades, i love the tension on aiming for precision. Just would love a different approach to gamepads vs wheel, maybe even separate both types of players in online, if you got the wheel setup you always got a advantage.
Not even a money problem I just don't want to invest that much space on racing games, and controller is maximum comfy.
I haven't had fun with a racing game since burnout revenge
I prefer to be racist IRL.
I'm fricking tired of supercars in every racing game, I just want to drive normal cars and tune them to my liking
Don't rag on me. Game?
anon...
I said don't rag
After GT7 went GaaS, I just don't care anymore.
Car culture is dead. Cars are gay now and almost nobody can afford them in the first place.
you are fricking right, dude even in my shithole of a country shitboxes that used to be the saving grace of transportation are now extremely expensive.
My sister's car nearly doubled in price.
Same where I live. It's sad. Almost any poorgay used to be able to own and maintain a "fun" car if he put the time in, but nobody can afford it anymore.
It doesn't help that many games only focus on super cars
For sure, but what options do people even have these days? In my day, it wasn't uncommon to see young men, 17-22, driving sick cars like RX-7, Camaro, Mustangs. The cars were used, cheap, and the guys worked on them and maintained them themselves. They were able to afford these fun cars while flipping burgers or stocking shelves part-time.
Those days and that economy is LONG GONE.
In the UK there are car meets every night, they just rock up in supermarket carports
The car scene is there you just don't know shit but talk as if you do. Fish brain mentality btw
>There was car culture 15 years ago because of F&F and NFS.
How old are you? You know these only exist because the culture was already there, right? Specially NFS that came way late, when it was already dying. "Car culture" started in the 50s and peaked in the 80s-90s.
I don't think you realize how many people got into cars because of those.
Yeah ricers, which ultimately killed the car scene.
Ricers are SOVL. Shitposts at the meet about who went most ott
You can't buy dirt cheap junkers anymore, gramps. Do you remember 'cash for clunkers'? It ruined the used car market forever. I'd call you a moron, but you're old and confused. I'm old too, maybe not quite as old as you.
>You can't buy dirt cheap junkers anymore, gramps
>what? its so easy, here let me sho-
>*search for under 1k*
>nothing
>*search for under 3k*
>nothing
>*search for under 5k*
>a few cars
jesus fricking christ i didnt realise.
no wonder you kids say this shit is dead.
you could buy fully roadworthy corvettes for under 2k
frickin kids with a summer job rocks up with an old muscle cars after summer break was normal.
well that confirms it, zoomers are fricked.
Sweety why would I drive, I take the train or uber anywhere I want 🙂
I want a racing game for this feel
Let me race with crazy modified cars in a third world country
Most third world countries use big name brand cars, and if they have domestic car production it is indistinguishable from big name brands.
It's amazing how they manage to get so much power out of these engines
We do. We just don’t invite you over. You spend too much time on Ganker and have become joyless husk of a human being that one likes being around
Remember when manualgays seethed and cried about paddle shifters but now it's considered the absolute norm?
It will be the same with EVs in a few years.
paddle shifters are boring though. shifting is part of the fun. it's like saying aim assist is the norm, doesn't make it less shit to the overall experience.
Doesn't matter, you lost.
lose what? you're just speaking gibberish now. take your meds.
Manual shifters are dead.
Paddle shifters are everywhere and are the new norm.
Every single racing car uses paddle shifters now because it's just better.
You lost.
>Manual shifters are dead.
they aren't? plenty of cars have them still.
>Paddle shifters are everywhere and are the new norm.
don't care, i'm not a bandwagoning frickwit.
>Every single racing car uses paddle shifters now because it's just better.
oh you race? no? shut the frick up
you sound like the biggest sped.
You lost
Nta but you've doubly lost it you can't comeback with anything but go for a last word in
>no u
You lost
you lost
seething lmao
Quadra lost
You lost.
Just like you lost to EVs
I accept your concession
You can have it.
You still lost lmao.
You don't need to apologise
Loser loser loser.
YOU LOOOOOOST
It's alright, I accepted your apology
LOST
Terrible show, bad ending just like this thread. Lost again
LOST
Don't beat yourself up. A loss is learned experience
You must have a PhD by now, loser.
Why yes, i do have a pretty huge dick
coping malding seething dilating
dilate
Where? My country is still 80%+ manual lol
Paddles are better than fully automatics anyway, the biggest issue with auto was not being able to choose the fricking gear ever. Try overtaking or going up a hill in an old automatic and see what I mean, driving these is just an awful experience.
>most played racing game is mario kart
racing game developers:
>we need to make another gran turismo
I'm just going to go right ahead and say it. Racing wheels is what killed racings games.
Now that the thread is over, I'm the guy who "shilled" for EVs.
I actually don't give a frick about those souless pieces of trash, but it was fun to bait you.
The most underrated menu theme in any racing game
>bus rider see car discussion and starts spamming
why does it keep happening
>bus
Shit tier.
trains are way better
They have a lot of time to shitpost taking 1 hour and 30 stops to get down the road while someone drives them
Too bad you can't even shitpost while stuck in traffic behind the wheel
Traffic? I dont live in new York
