Every game is an isekai, moron.
in what way is league of legends an isekai you fricking moronic moron. Which character was killed in another world and resurrected as the chosen one in Runeterra? You moronic moron.
nta but if you're doing playing gta(and even that can be considered another world), you're literally playing in another world/universe. That's what "isekai" means,
>You moronic moron
the summoner is you, the player and you are interacting with a world not your own.
Didn't they retcon summoners?
>killed in another world and resurrected as the chosen one
I see you have no idea what Isekai actually means, huh
forspoken
Fricking idiot do you even think about what you are writing before making threads?
Because almost every game is already technically a isekai. You have a very skewed perception of Isekai if you think it means "person in contemparary setting transported to fantasy world."
Anime brainrot probably.
No idea.
>person in contemparary setting transported to fantasy world
Yes that's what it means.
Oh sweet jesus this is a good troll post how absolutely delectable
It's called Assassins Creed.
>protagonist is a japanese high school student who gets hit by a truck and sees afterlife goddess who lets him reincarnate in fantasy world but not before giving him some bullshit powers isekai
Kino
Bushiroad are working on a Mushoku Tensei console game. No information other than that yet though.
Only good licensed anime game I've seen so far is Attack on Titan 2 and that's because you actually get to see an alt story for yourself. If it just the fricking anime/manga but it's a game, then it's pointless. Just read or watch it instead. Licensed anime games are already mediocre to dogshit most of the time
Dragonball gets a good game every now and then. Budokai 3 and Fighter Z for instance.
How about a series that isn't dogshit though?
The gimmick of the chuuni protag made this one really fun
It's funny because he's basically in a completely different genre from everybody else. He's a comedy protagonist in a dramatic story.
Also, Ni no Kuni, Genshin Impact, Final Fantasy Tactics, Kingdom Hearts, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Star Ocean, all isekai.
frick you homosexuals for recommending ni no kuni. It's terrible snail pace game that doesn't respect the player at all
>compaining about Ni No Kuni when motherfricking kh is in the list.
Play Shadowbringers.
Surprised some idiot said FINAL fantasy tactics in this thread. YOU FRICKING MORON IT'S TACTICS ADVANCE. KNOW THE FRICKING DIFFERENCE
have a nice day xiever
I Was A Simple NEET In Reality But Got Reincarnated As A Powerful Hero In Another World
rate my new idea for a game and anime adaptations
SMT V
the best isekai are where it's not an overpowered protag that shit started with Sao
best isekai are .hack//sign and there are like 5+ games made about it on the ps2
also grimgar is really good. basically we just need more traditional d&d style games or classic ones with more bare bones systems like dungeon crawlers . basically all we have now is fricking skyrim or generic mmos. and no mmos do traditional fantasy. it's always a shit gimmick like elder scrolls or destiny or wow always knock off fake d&d with shit IPs that can't even compare to d&d's complexity .
>no mention of rayearth, scaflowne, those who hunts elves or even fricking digimon 1
>wants more derivate garbage
Frick off zoom zoom
Are those isekai? I thought isekai was being truck-kun'd and transported alive was a different genre.
I wouldn't say that death is necessarily a requirement for isekai. Sometimes the person going into the other world is still alive/intact and keeps their previous body (like Isekai Ojisan for example where his real body is in a coma but he goes to the isekai world with his same ugly mug).
Isekai literally just means "another world" and is fish out of water stories of people getting tossed into another world, usually fantasy. Fricking Narnia is isekai.
The modern wave of power fantasy isekai stories is a subgenre called "narou-kei" in Japan. Narou is the nickname for the web novel site where most of them come from. They're stuff written by literal amateurs who just put their stuff up online.
isekai literally means "different/another world" so just being transported to another world is enough.
Tensei/reincarnation is the truck-kun isekai sub-genre of this btw.
wrong
moron.
>question already answered correctly
>answers it wrong anyway
moron
>answered correctly
>when it wasn't
(You)
>No mention of Aura Battler Dunbine, only the most obvious generic shit that was brought to the west
You're the zoomer.
Nobody actually watched Aura Battler Dunbine until Spoony and Sage made fun of Garzey's Wing and all the millennials had to get in on watching the lolsobad kuso show.
What do you mean?
actual fantasy native isekai > scifi/magic isekai > reincarnation isekai > trapped inside VRMMO > VRMMO
>spoiler
What's that, reincarnated into a different part of the fantasy world you came from?
Also I'd go for either the scifi world or sword and magic world.
it's arguably a shitpost term for normal fantasy.
But I guess it's could mean the same standard kind of isekai world with all the usual tropes except protagonist was actually born and raised there instead of reincarnating.
>What's that
It's fricking nothing. Native isekai is for all intents and purposes an oxymoron. An isekai is a foreign world, that is by definition not native to your own.
The term was coined when some gays desperately tried to come up with a term to describe what they felt like were works that had isekai tropes and structures even though they objectively weren't isekai.
But that just means that they aren't isekai. And that the very term "native isekai" is fricking stupid. Besides the tropes they attribute to isekai doesn't even have anything to do with isekai, and would instead be attributed Japanese web novel publishing.
Why are weebs so autistic?
Seems like a good term to describe Redo Healer and a few other series. All the tropes of modern generic fotm isekai. But technecially not isekai. Ultimately their just generic Harem series.
Reincarnation can be interesting but only if it a non-Chinese/Korean person seeing the pattern and making their own take on it. It get boring real fricking quick when the baby decided to unlock their qi or whatever after birth and be superman level of power before their age even hit 1 and the rest of the series is how they snowball from there. Exclusively going off a DBZ-like power scale because all of the overpower crap look exactly the same. There can be cool concepts with the idea but not by anyone with Chinese mythos brainrot. If a character need to be overpowered or be given a special ability just so the story can work then it is likely a shit story anyway. Conflict is what make stories interesting yet most people who write reincarnation only do so strictly for self insert fanfic of what they would do if they could be superman. Even worst when reincarnation start having MMO-like windows pop up saying shit like "your fire resist increased!" when the setting isn't even in a MMO. I seen some real fricking shitty stories by hack writers too stupid to even be aware of why their stories sucks. I just want to see a story where a person can redo shit until they get it right. Hell why roguelikes/lites is so addicting, if you always fricking win then you would quit playing to find a new one.
>character stats that use scientific notation
Historical teleportation isekai > all your bullshit
Thermae Romae > everything else > SAO
unironically
I was thinking of Jin, but yeah. They are great.
Maybe because all isekai is slop ? Mushoku Tensei is total garbage and animegays praise it like nothing else. Anime brainrot I guess.
>look at me being a contrarian, i'm cool now right guise?
>everyone who hates my favorite anime is a contrarian
Frick off moron. Mushoku Tensei is overrated. Get over it.
Play Eien no Aselia. It's the best isekai game.
Are you talking about this game
https://store.steampowered.com/app/445420/Aselia_the_Eternal_The_Spirit_of_Eternity_Sword/
Looks like a cheap Kemco game with a retro art style. But I like those cheap JRPGs sometimes so maybe I'll try it.
That game is ancient as frick
Haven't played it for years but it's one of the old timey isekai series predating the web novel fad meaning it's nothing like what OP is talking about. Lots of suffering and learning fantasy language and wanting out of this shithole to go home.
they're called RPG and have been a thing since forever you moron
Forspoken was that and it flopped
There's a few out there.
But we do? I was just lurking The Rear Sekai/Rune factory thread a while ago. It's an Isekai, made by an old rune factory dev or something like that.
Do you even Super Mario Bros?
I want an isekai themed game where your character has to do increasingly complex and Rube Goldberg-esque machinations to get hit by something so they hopefully get isekaied back to their home world.
I'm not sure what's worse: isekai, or the "I got fired by my S-rank party in the first couple of pages because they thought I was useless even though it was stupidly obvious I was carrying the entire fricking team but for some reason nobody notices it until I'm gone" setup.
it is when they combine these two concepts that it is truly the worst
It's, like, SOMETIMES you can understand the party's complaints, but most of the time it's "All you can do is paralyze people? How useless." Like even the most dumbass person in existence can recognise the tactical value of STOPPING SOMETHING FROM MOVING.
I like the Shoelace name for these stories
"Shoelace you are useless all you do is tie my shoes, leave or die"
"oh no keep tripping over my untied shoes, fricking shoelace cursed us"
or "I'm playing this SUPER POPULAR online game in a very specific OP way nobody else has thought to do before and am finding all this super cool shit hidden by the developers nobody stumbled upon in the years it has been online"
like games don't get datamined to shit in the first 5 minutes of alpha/beta/release
I can SOMETIMES tolerate those if they're like, hyper-advanced MMOs that are functionally just different worlds, or if it's like, just a starting-up one, but even that's a lot.
"I just started playing this MMORPG and even though it's the most popular MMORPG in the entire fricking world with 20 billion players I'm the only person to EVER come up with this one broken combination of skills that nobody has ever tried before that makes me utterly invulnerable, also I keep finding more of these broken combinations and nobody ever tries to copy my build"
Wasn't there an anime where the protagonist's whole gimmick was being 'good' at visual novels?
yes, Kami KINO Nomi.
Kaminomi? It was shit, the author clearly never played a visual novel in their entire fricking life and it was just a generic ass harem with cringe protagonist.
That triggers me the most out of these tropes
>oh lol alchemy is so trash, you get useless items while low level with low quality items
>wtf he's making high quality potions after some time and getting rich because nobody else is doing it?? Wtf he's a genius
But if its literally a SAO situation where theres no new players I can accept it I guess
Like, I can get people being like "I don't wanna spend time crafting I wanna fight stuff" but still.
I like the one about the girl raising her defence, because they make a point that that game is absolutely broken and glitchy as hell and they keep trying to patch it because the protagonist keeps being horribly unfair somehow. Like it's played up that this game is NOT well-made.
I tried watching boufuri and it made me want to strangle someone because it seemed to have been written by some kind of fricking moron child who has never played a video game in their entire life and just made up a load of moronic bullshit
>Game has some kind of moronic reverse skyrim skill/stat system where getting attacked raises your defence
>Protagonist falls asleep while playing and somehow enemies attack her character for hours without her character dying and somehow this gives her 99999999999999999 def
>nobody else in the entire fricking world has ever used this moronic system to raise their stats ever
There are plenty.
Ironically enough pokemon themed isekais like Legends and mistery dungeons are better than the main series
best isekai game
frick you
I forgot that this was actually an isekai but yeah you do start out with a normal ass t-shirt and jeans
What a game
it even had the whole summoning ritual shtick
man, kinda wanna play it again
the constant spell chanting was fun
I think I had a pirated cd copy that didn't have the cutscenes so I just rolled with it
My favourite is "I got isekai'd but I'm a natural born gigachad who is a master of fighting" just from the sheer shamelessness of it all.
It's great. Shameless is a good description.
It's also kindom building, so it's gigachad territory as far as I'm concerned.
>Fricks Kido for protection
>He gets bored and sells her off to the sex trade
>Guy buys her, forces her to do scat
>Gets bored with her, sells her off
>She's bought by a giant dude, undergoes surgery so he can frick her without killing her
>Gets bored with her, sells her off
>One of Kido's friends find her and buys her out of the kindness of his heart
>She thought, then she was fricked again
>Sticks a poison pill up his ass via tongue then finds out she had a cheat skill all along making the last 4-5 years of her life a complete waste
>Can't stand the sight of her own body post-surgery, crushes her own eyes.
She did nothing wrong.
what story are ypu quoting
that's Dungeon Seeker
Sex with her sound very boring umh?
>love generic fantasy and medieval fantasy
>manga never does generic fantasy because they always have to do some isekai twist where the MC is some generic high schooler
Cool. Great. Very interesting.
It's funny when it's something like Faraway Paladin, where the protagonist being isekai'd doesn't ever actually matter.
>where the protagonist being isekai'd doesn't ever actually matter.
I feel that's more often the case than not. They usually only use the isekai part as some tragic backstory for flashbacks about their real life but 99% of the time is spent in the fantasy world.
But, like, some of them will use knowledge from the old life or some such. Faraway Paladin functionally does not care about the protagonist's former existence. He barely thinks about it.
There's a few ones that I like that mess with the formula in interesting ways, though. Beginning After The End has an isekai, except the protagonist's original world was ALSO a supernatural world, except it was with ki and martial abilities compared to the world of magic he ends up in, and his former life matters a fair bit. FFF-Class Trashero was another I enjoyed because the protag has to redo his isekai after murdering his party members near the end for being annoying. He never learns from this.
>manga never does generic fantasy
Read Dugeon Meshi
Seconded
Does it actually have a worthwhile story or is it just a series of gags about eating monsters?
it has an underlying story between the cooking/eating bits
not sure if worthwhile, considering I forgot about the series' existence
And Lodoss War is shit which leaves Slayers which is good but doesn't take itself seriously enough and what else? Berserk which doesn't have a full adaptation and Goblin Slayer which falls off hard after the initial shock value wears off. I've been putting off Legend of the Legendary heroes and Tower of Druaga, but there's gotta be more right?
Claymore is alright and kind of fits.
I forgot about that. Watched the first episode and didn't go back for some reason, I'll check it out again.
I've never watched the anime, but the manga is really good.
I guess there's the two Ys animes.
First one is kinda slow-paced and oldtimey.
Second one is more hectic but short.
I remember hearing good things about Sorcerous Stabber Orphen back when it was first released in english, but I have never seen it.
I liked Bastard!! but not sure if you'd call that 'generic fantasy' since it's technically post-apocalyptic.
Yuusha ga Shinda is pretty decent fantasy.
>Slayers which is good but doesn't take itself seriously enough
Slayers takes itself plenty seriously in the books and that's why the series is shit, especially since the author set up a load of stuff and then never did it and just stopped writing because the anime made him rich and he doesn't have to work for the rest of his life meaning that all the foreshadowing he did went nowhere. Lina will never have her showdown with the unsealed Lei Magnus.
The President of the United States of America.
I've never seen a game so immediately lose me as NNK2. How does it start off so strong, and then immediately we stop focusing on Roland and he's just kinda there and Evan is the protagonist for reasons?
NNK and NNK2 are always my example of games I immediately think of when people talk about "games I wanted to like".
There's so many ingredients in those games that I enjoy so on paper I should really love them but then I play them and everything just so painfully mediocre.
I actually enjoyed the first one for quite a bit. I think it only really lost me near the finale.
The game was a disaster in general.
>Has like one tenth of the first game's budget.
>Roland gets isekai'd for no apparent reason.
>at the end of the game he gets isekai'd back for no apparent reason.
>the city in his own world now didn't get nuked for some reason
>mc pisses away his entire family's legacy and hands the kingdom to his father's murderer
>father's ghost shows up and reconciles with his murderer
>doesn't even bother talking to his son
>shitty forced kingdom building
>uninspired post game
>shallow characters and worldbuilding
It may be the most disappointing sequel I have ever played. The first game's Wizard's Companion alone had more charm than this shitshow.
And even the core gameplay was worse, because it turned from a passable turn-based RPG to a... Mediocre action RPG.
It would require them to make a new IP and we can't have that when we can just make Zelda 15, Mario 15, Animal Crossing 7 and sell on the brand alone
Also many Isekai manga tend to be unapologetically horny, can't have that in a safe horny industry
I just wish there was a game with such potential of build autism like in Overlord or slime/spider isekai. The closest that we have are probably the pathfinder games but that still isn't it.
Disgaea
Etrian Odyssey games with subclasses.
What the frick is the point of the reincarnation element in Oshi no Ko? I don't understand it
Half the time it's just for marketing.
The main characters carry their emotional baggage from their previous lives, if you're an anime only though, you wont see the story until season 3 or 4.
Don't give a shit. Read the manga a few months back and can't remember shit
It's just a way to get zoomers to read it, the reincarnation thing is completely irrelevant.
This fricker is lying, as of the latest volume of the manga the reincarnation thing has had nothing to contribute to the story except add that the same guy masterminded the doctor's murder but it's completely superfluous because the son is already after his mother's killer in the first place. And the sister isn't even fricking relevant to the story at all.
I hate Sylphie so fricking much it's unreal. I couldn't read more of her fricking bullshit and dropped this crap.
Literally worst character and most boring childhood friend I could ever dream of. I'd rather read entire volume of MC describing Roxy's panties than another sentence spoken by this boring b***h.
>Pokémon Legend Arceus
>Assassin's Creed
>SMTV
>Kingdom Hearts
>Blue Reflection Second Light
>Ni No Kuni 2
>FF Tactics Advance
>the FF CHAOS one I forgot the name
yeah, we need more.
>I'd rather read entire volume of MC describing Roxy's panties
BASED
FFX
>a fat frick neet who's 30's something teleport in a different world and he's OP as frick and has a harem
wow, such originality, it remind of Fifa games, same game every year. Now kys OP, not video games
>isekai was just the far far future
My favourite trope. Also Anju is my waifu
I just want to play an actual game where the "isekai with cheat skills in a world with RPG systems" stories take inspiration from.
I don't care if the game is unbalanced, sometimes you just want to power trip and be overpowered.
Why are there so many garbage Isekai mangas with barly any chapters that then go on to get high budget anime adaptions? Are they all Light Novels?
>Are they all Light Novels?
Most of them are web novels initially.
Manga is the first level of promotion for a Light Novel. Anime is the second. Why exactly they pick so many garbage Light Novels to adapt is probably because 99% of light novels are garbage. Original manga story has always the biggest potential for a quality work.
Anime is more often than not just a high budget advertisement.
That's why you get so many Anime that only ever get one cour for a series that isn't close to being finished in hopes they can revitalize interest in the source material and drive a little bit more sales out of it before discontinuing it.
Wasn't there some big Isekai game revealed recently?
>Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
>The Witcher
>Forspoken
>Sonic and the Black Knight
>Shin Megami Tensei
Star Ocean isn't actual isekai but it's close enough, sci-fi spacemen getting stranded on fantasy world planets. 2 even has the native girl think the spaceman's laser gun is some sword of light making him the mythical hero of legend.
Digimon World 1 and Digimon Card Battle is a great isekai just like the anime
Then the games went to the shitter
Because isekai anime are Gary Stu simulators. Wish fulfillment for mouth breathing zoomies.
crosscode
Mabinogi you Black person
I went from reading a shitton of isekai trash to reading korean webtoon trash
Now everything is "oh no a bunch of portals opened up, monsters poured out and people started awakening as 'players'" with mild variations (usually regressing back in time).
halp
Isekai is fart sniffing high art compared to webtoon trash. You have my condolences.
Eratoho
I made it bros... I'm living in Gensokyo!
Isekai is a shovelware genre, if someone wanted to lazily pump out shit they would just make a souls-like.
>nobody mentioned Ultima
>Why don't we get isekai themed games
few days ago I saw a gameplay of a isekai jrpg for the PS2, don't remember the name.
>tried to do isekai summoning all over the world
it actually works
what game?
