I already own all the consoles I would want to emulate, and since I own a phone, a tablet and several bluetooth controllers I genuinely have no need for a portable emulation thingy. I can just use those instead.
The ones that ape the DMG look really nice, though.
I do the same thing, but I go even further into obsolete electronics idiocy and play them in 240p with a fan-made replacement for the Game Boy Player software. 🙂
>>no sticks, which makes a lot of the library useless and the ones that aren't made completely unplayable definitely are gimped
Frick all ps1 games used the sticks. mgs didnt. tomb raider didnt. crash and spyro didnt. tekken didnt. final fantasy didnt. theres probably only like 5 games that used the sticks.
Look man these shills only have access to images from here and reddhouse. You are bound to get some fricked up hands eventually.
They can't very well post their own images since that would give up the ruse that they play games.
Not really, it's indented a little bit, in this picture I'm basically resting my thumb in a comfortable position, I don't need to "hover it" or anything, unlike with a regular switch joycon where it's really weird. Also these joysticks are Hall effect so I enjoy actually using them for fighting games
tbh would still prefer them to be on top instead of this current switch cancer way, the reason it works on x360 and so on is because they give space to the joystick away from the face buttons, I can have TWO fingers whilst using claw grip (fighters) without touching the joystick on a regular X360 which you can't on a joycon based controller.

You're not wrong, and if you take a look at my previous picture you can see the Retroid Pocket Flip (purple one) has a better arrangement, however some people don't like 3DS style joysticks, but I do. There's 2 problems with it though, the first is the screen which has too much backlight bleed, and the second is the face buttons, they're too "square" and have too much travel which means you have to be very precise in pressing them, they don't get stuck or anything but I rather have the slightly rounded RG405M buttons.
Anbernic RG35XX seems like a good option and looks the least like a shitty knockoff imo. But there's usually handheld threads on >>>/vr/ with more info on other models
why do these gameboy players always have four buttons angled like that? i bet playing mario or something with b and a is uncomfortable cause it definitely is on a 3ds.
except for the nes, the famicon, the game boy, the game boy color, the game boy pocket, the game boy light, the game boy advance, the game boy advance sp, the game boy micro, the virtual boy, the n64
but it was that way on the ds so i guess you're right anon
(why does chrome put the new download thing right where you put the fricking image in on this site? that's infuriating)
Hmm i don't usually see a need for a handheld, other than play on bed. I got all the gameboys and ds to play the games, they might as well been homosexual consoles.
because I have a pc, and a nes mini. I was thinking about getting one of these or similar, but that shit is bound to cramp my hands up. I can't even play switch in handheld mode without my hands hurting like hell after 30 minutes
I also mainly got mine for JRPGs. Played FF7 for the first time ~2 years ago on my Vita though.
I might finally finish Chrono Trigger, Xenogears or start Terranigma when I get it though.
Also stoked to replay some Game Boy games again. I completely stopped Game Boy emulation when I stopped using my Switch as much, and got a Steam Deck. Emulating Game Boy on a device that big feels silly
>It's so comfy bros.
Omg so true fellow totally legitimate user and passionate gamer! I can't wait to buy one... no, TWO for myself! Only a moron would want to miss out on this chance to return to his gaming childhood!
SNK and Capcom arcade games run pretty much perfectly on fba
chimeraSnes runs all the snes games i've tried without issues as well (even has fast forward)
Get the homebrew browser or vitaDB downloader and go through the games/apps, they have prettymuch all the homebrew released
If you like mario64 theres a port for vita that allows for analog camera controls, makes the game actually playable, now it's honestly a 10/10 for me
The latest release opens without issues on my 1000, though i prefer vitaDB anyways since you can filter however you want and it notifies you of updates on the home screen
retroarch. not all systems are perfect but the ones i’ve used most - snes, gba, pc engine - have no issues. unless you’re a nitpicking b***h and then i’m sure you can find something to whine about.
Deadalus64 lets you emulate N64 games, but to my knowledge only one game runs perfectly: Star Fox 64.
MGBA runs all of your GB and GBA games, never had a problem with them.
Retroarch works for the best. Runs Sega Genesis games, Super Nintendo games, regular Nintendo games, and I even use it for Ps1 emulation because some games don't respond too well to the vita's native ps1 emulator or adrenaline. Megaman Legends comes to mind.
>just play the PSP port
Nah, it's not translated, and the games have too much dialogue for me to guess my way through them.
It's probably too much money, but since I bought it it's nice. I don't really have any complaints. I like putzing around with hardware, and I got some hardware.
Honestly I wouldn’t use it. If im out im not trying to be distracted by screens and if im home id rather play on a big screen. I could use them at parties since i usually just show up for family but then id just be the guy always on my fake gameboy
these shitty emulators all use vsync which means additional frames of lag
i'll stick with 120hz 60fps capped gsync zero input lag complete frames emulation thanks
I hate it personally, but it's your only choice for DMG format today that doesn't just end at PS1 and GBA.
Is cooling going to be an issue? The 4 has the same chip as the Odin-lite and iirc the Odin doesn't have any cooling problems. I don't see the 4 pro being much different.
It shouldn't be, but this is their first. For instance, heard about 405V's (optional) fan getting stuck and requiring shaking, that's Anbernic's first too.
i own the (razer? whatever) brand one of these and holy shit are these things useless
i found they worked okay in those shit gta mobile ports from like 2011 but apart from that they really had no use
if this was still 2013 and people were just dirtily porting PS2 and ps3 games like dead rising and dead space this shit would be the coolest thing ever made
now that the only mobile games are cut the rope, a million clash of clans copies and candy crush these things kinda lost their use as soon as they existed
yeah it was fun to use for remote play and xbox streaming but apart from that?

You can sideload emulators on iOS, or just install them from an app store if you're jailbreaking.

You’re likely good to go with sideloading apps assuming the app in question supports your version of iOS. >is that still a thing?
Lol it might be, I played the frick out of Pokemon FireRed on that with my 4S like 12 years ago. That app was unbelievable. It let you download ROMs directly in app, right?

The point of a smartphone was to saturate the market with a new, more profitable standard in consumer communication that people will buy by default because everyone else has one. Most people dont do much with their phones, it might as well be a dumbphone. Even those had shitty browsers and music players.

Yeah so like I said, achievable with a shitty browser. The games are often so basic theyre more simple than the games you could buy for old dumphones. Insane you thought dumbphones were incapable of texting or media playback. You just dont know what dumphones were and are showing your ass.

Anon, the point was that the claim >Most people dont do much with their phones, it might as well be a dumbphone.
Is blatantly wrong. People use their phones for all sorts of things. If you really think the shitty old nokia dumb phones that can only play Snake is anywhere near comparable to what people actually use phones for these days, you're actually brain damaged so I hope for your sake you're just trolling.

My point was what most people used were available on the dumphone standard. I started the point, i made the reply chain. I know what my point is. Your argument haave come down to the idea that dumphones are defined by shitty screens, no music, shitty ui, and nogaems. I showed that the idea you proposed is moronic and thats not hoe a smartphone was even defined. Its not even a contentious point.

Please do enlighten us then. What is your definition of a "dumb phone"?

Breakroom
Probably a flip phone that can just call and text. Completely vestigial in 2023.

A phone that isnt effectively a computer that im using right now with sideloaded apps to respond to you. Theyre effectively computers compared to the very limited suite of options and customizability, including fricking with files and managing files systems, we have now. This isnt hard.
Behold, my complete and utter lack of taste to show I'm not unwashed from the tide of android. Its basic shit. Dumbphone isnt a word I came up with. Like the stasi trying to seek out undercover luddites as if its your job.

I know, which is odd to me that you're twisting it to your own definition when you can look it up and the general consensus is >Talk >Text >Basic functions like calendars and built-in games
But I'll just assume you're back pedaling after getting called out. Saves you the embarrassment of being called ESL.

Bro you could purchase games on old flip phones and browse the internet years before the iPhone ever became a thing. Thats a definition of dumphone that doesnt relate to the progression of technology used for phones going from "dumb" to smart. Given we are speaking relative to technological progression no one in their right mind would think I meant phones made to have NOTHING that are being sold right. This is like defining an NES by the NESmini. You're literally moronic and have nothing to go back to.

Sorry moron, no one is using your definition.

Sure. Thats why they started calling smart phones smartphones compared to what they were before the iphone. Certainly wasnt implying those phones were "dumb" comparitively. Actual moron. Running away from the point as if language is dictated. Have fun when you get older.

>Insane you thought dumbphones were incapable of media playback.
They were. Videos were choppy dogshit on tiny resolutions, complete garbage.
linux for the ultra cheap devices like the miyoo mini in OP, android for the slightly less cheap ones.
Generally speaking these devices are so cheap cause they use bare minimum parts with almost 0 quality control. It's not uncommon for buttons to come mashed in, shells to not release buttons when pressed, screens to pop out because the shells weren't shaved down properly and the screens are just a hair too big for them
also they don't run anything past gen 4 besides SOME ps1 games, and there's now hacky 15fps support for like 4 n64 games I guess if that's your jam.
Even if you spend more, like the $100 retroid systems/anbernic systems, you're getting up to PSP that's sorta playable (With slowdowns). They just aren't really worth it. They have to use shitty hand-me-down chipsets that mobile manufacturers won't use anymore, they can't get qualcomm stuff (the only chipsets anyone bothers developing for) so even the "ultra high end" $250-$300 chinkhelds barely run ps2 without shitting themselves while the fricking smartphones getting released every year are running switch games at 60fps.
>Even if you spend more, like the $100 retroid systems/anbernic systems, you're getting up to PSP that's sorta playable (With slowdowns).
Actually, I think T610 (Pocket 2S) handles PSP fine.

pocket 2S is more in line with $150, unless you think the 3gb ram model is capable of playing anything when it's struggling to handle android underneath it, lmao.
But yeah you're right it does run psp okay, except the GoW games, but those are sorta the benchmark for psp emulation anyway.
Anonymous
>pocket 2S is more in line with $150, unless you think the 3gb ram model is capable of playing anything when it's struggling to handle android underneath it, lmao.
It is. 1GB does literally nothing for emulation, it's just for Roblox or Minecraft or whatever spastic kids get out of native Android gaymen.

Pocket 2S 4GB is $100, 3GB is $90. The extra gigabyte also doesn't matter whatsoever unless you're specifically playing Android games.

I likely wouldn’t even own a smartphone if my family didn’t buy so many upgrades and throw their old smartphones at me. I have an iPhone 7 that very rarely gets used for much more than calling or texting people and playing music.
I miss when some cell phones were leaning really hard into the portable media player angle and had dedicated media buttons.
phones have high resolution amoled screens and can emulate up to the 3ds with switch emulation slowly getting there
the chinksole won't even run ps2 at quarter speed
>miyoo mini doesn't charge from usb c to c, needs to be a to c, and not on any fancy charger or the wire will melt >rgb30 literally just doesn't charge half the time
don't fall for chinkshit anons, these are marketing threads.
plug normal person usb in on the plug end, plug switch plug in switch
... as is every single computer, console and electronic item that communicates over usb for the past 20 or so years. nice to meet you, grug.
Is there any cheap, easy to use console that can emulate up to the N64/PS1? Handheld or not, I don't care.
I was thinking of turning my Xbox One into an emulation machine, but the idea is to set it up for an older relative and it may be too confusing to use for him.
No. Usually, big emphasis on usually there, the screens are okay on those. Just avoid the Miyoo Mini Non-Plus like the plague, they ran out of good displays a while ago and it's some fricked up resolution now.
I do and I love it, no matter where I am even during work breaks I can whip out this homie and just play whatever the hell I want from nes all the way to dreamcast
very plug and play
these come pre-packaged with roms if you buy the sd card but I used my own, the emulators are already installed with the bios files already put in
you just point the emulator to where the games are and then select the game, you can use the built-in front-end if you lie or do like I did and install a new OS
I do, I have a Miyoo Mini and I liked it so much that I got a Miyoo Mini Plus. I had a great time with them, but I don't use them any more because I have a Steam Deck now. I'd definitely recommend getting one to basically anyone interested in emulation, but I'd go for something other than the Miyoo because there are now other ones with the same form factor and similar price with better specs.
Why not just get one of those things that attach to your phone and ps controller via USB? Then you can play whatever with shit you already own instead of buying a chunk device. >lul ps controller in pocket
If you take games anywhere outside of your house you have failed at life as an adult, only reason for these is bed which this covers completely
Because that's loads more awkward to carry around than a device you can slip into your pocket at any time, the centre of gravity is always awkward on controller attachments, and draining your phone's battery when out in public is really annoying.
I already have a modded switch. retoarch NES, SNES, GB/GBA, Genesis, PS1 works 100% of the time. I got like 8-9 hours of battery life on v1 switch running roms.
N64 PSP works with issues,
Dreamcast crashed when I tried
Right now I've got three. A PSP, a Vita and a 3DS. Also have a switch, but it's not jailbroken. (not sure how early it is, so I don't know if it's hackable)
I was gonna get one but then some new ones were announced. What are the cool kids using / buying nowadays? I was originally looking at the anbernic RG35XX.
4 Pro is literally just the 3+ but with a better chip. Unless the chinks screw up badly somehow, there shouldn't be any difference in the manufacturing line.
Is cooling going to be an issue? The 4 has the same chip as the Odin-lite and iirc the Odin doesn't have any cooling problems. I don't see the 4 pro being much different.
I do: my Steam Deck does literally everything I could ever want. I can go from playing AAA goyslop to emulating anything I want instantly. >b-but it's too big!
it fits in my backpack and I don't have baby hands >b-but the battery life!
emulation doesn't drain it fast at all and I have an extra battery just in case >b-but oled
see steam deck oled >b-but it's expensive
poor people problems
tbf i love my steam deck but the size and battery life really do just bring it down for me in the "portable" sense. i wish i got a small black new 3ds instead of this new 2ds that's fricking neon red with a gigantic pokeball on the front, try taking THAT out on the bus
If you keep trying to run the most recent AAA games, yeah the battery life sucks. But if you're emulating and optimize the settings, my deck gets up to 6-7 hours on a single charge
Yeah no matter what shills say, the Deck has a serious battery problem. Doesn't matter if you literally only play up to N64 retro games, but at that point just get a chinkheld for literally 1/3 the price.
Can't speak for the OLED though. Never owned it (I returned my LCD Deck), but Anons have said the battery is "drastically" improved.
It plays video games and Ganker doesn't play games. Especially not old games without cutscenes and no handholding, that's too much for the morons that live here.
Aside from PC, I believe that a handheld is by far the most enjoyable way to play vidya. I don't know why that's the case but somehow vidya is just more appealing that way
There’s not a single game among the thousands I’d want to play from the pre-ps2 era, and any of the ones from the ps2 are better experienced emulated on a full rig with a real controller.
are people just playing the same gameboy games for the millionth time? have you not beaten links awakening already? buy a steamdeck and keep up with good portable gaming
stick to picture books, anon. an imageboard might seem like the same thing but it's above your grade level, it seems.
150 posts getting into detail about these things and you walk up and start talking to the picture.
I do, I've been hooked to it since I bought it. Or I should say I've been hooked to it since I repaired it, since when I bought it the fricking screen was smashed (this happened in the factory! nothing in the box was jostled) and Retroid had to send me a full replacement front shell. I have a portable that can play Kingdom Hearts Final Mix for $100 or less, shit's tight.
My company isn't moronic enough to try and blacklist one of its biggest shills after it mishandles a Vita OLED screen so badly that it causes performance issues on fricking Super Nintendo and even that shill can't defend it.
that post is referring to anbernig blacklisting taki udon for iirc the RG503 which used a vita screen and had bafflingly bad performance for its price and chipset
I wouldnt ever keep a handheld in my pocket even if it was gameboy sized, thats just uncomfortable and prone to dropping. Carry a backpack everywhere with my steamdeck in a case
Mini Plus or just the Mini? I was floored by how good the screen was on the Mini when I first got it, Mini Plus's screen is like 90% of the way there on being just as good which is impressive for a screen with an unknown source.
Plus. The regular mini would be too small for my hands. The screen on mine looks good, no dead pixels, bright, colorful. I don't have many complaints given the price.
>Get handheld >Filtered by bios / setup >Can't play Saturn / Dreamcast /Sega CD in particular without the autism settings >Oh boy, another junk Sega Genesis handheld
That's why. I'm fricking filtered and can't set Sega CD. Shit never works lmao
>take the bait and buy rg405m >initially think, "hey this is great. 1/3 of the android ui doesn't function which is kind of weird but whatever" >set up daijisho and emulators >face buttons stick when pressed in unison right of of the box, "eh.. I can get used to this I guess" >play through a bunch of games ranging from gb to ps1 for a few months >keep getting caught in tenchu because it won't the device won't register long presses of the shoulder buttons, "well, I'll just play another game not so reliant on the buttons..." >monitor pops out, "uhh okay, I will just glue it back on..." >battery stops charging eventually >monitor eventually dies >contact anbernig support >as it has been 5 months, it is still under warranty, so we will replace it for you for $150 >kicking myself for thinking a chinese device sold for a couple hundred might have quality control
I bought an rg35xx a couple of months ago, haven't had a handheld since the gba.
Finished Pokemon Fire Red and I have barely touched it since.
I tried to play A Link to the Past and Shantae but I found both to be pretty boring, I really need to find something else to play, I tried to control myself and download maybe 10-15 games to avoid playing them just for 10 min but I couldn't.
I do, I've been hooked to it since I bought it. .
This one is not comfortable for me for anything that isn't GB games.
I need N64 emulation that isn't bad and it's actually lost the godly d-pad and hall effect sticks as points in its favor. Still plays PS1 and PSP too. Gimme a Retroid Pocket 2S
Been playing old FE games on this lil' beast. The build quality feels really great, i get like 13-15 hours on power saving mode and i really like the compact size, hate the sticks though.

Honestly, no. I'm pretty sure chinks don't post on Ganker either.
kinda wish british prices weren't based on american online prices, cause most games on digital storefronts that usually cost $10 vary from £6-whatever the frick they were feeling
i liked how xbox arcade always had their games at £6.75, nice threshold
I have a phone
runs way more than those chinkshit messes with screens that pop out if you breathe wrong around them.
$20 controller and it feels much better than their mushy shit too!
For a whopping $3 on top, you have a USBC-C cable and have 0 input delay if you're trying to play fricking hagane on the go or something.
Use your head, obviously not a FPGA at that price-point. Also use your head, this isn't 2005, emulation on a mobile chipset hasn't sucked in a good 10-15 years.
One does, it's vastly overpriced, has a shoddy d-pad and vertical format with the worst shoulder buttons on the market and only goes up to SNES IIRC. Take photo for Reddit and never touch it again collector bullshit.

they're cheap because they use easily available mobile chipsets and parts ripped from old cheap devices you fricking moron lol
You still take full advantage of the FPGA hardware, you just aren't using archaic, aging, oftentimes failing hardware that can suffer tilt by looking at it wrong.
FPGA doesn't equal "has a cartridge slot". FPGA means it's running the hardware at damn near, if not 100% accuracy. The only reason to use a cartridge would be for nostalgia if you don't have a good dump, but we're not in 2002 anymore, the dumping tools we have are nearly fricking perfect, the odds of a bad dump occurring are so low that most programs and hardware designed to dump run multiple times just to pick the most pristine dump of the lot.
Honest answer, I think it has something to do with emulation not emulating properly as these games really do need CRTs for the authentic experience and you need to feed them with the proper PAL or NTSC signal for whatever version you're using.
Never bothered me since I use emulators for everythin and I run retropie like a pleb but that's what purists say.
How little do you have to have going for you to want this kind of plastic shite?
The people who buy them don't even remember the original systems so they're nostalgic for something they didn't experience.
I don't play games on the go. Never felt a need. If I'm actually traveling I'll just explore wherever I am. If I'm waiting I'll just close my eyes and zone out.
It's a weird feel being a grown-ass man who was once a spastic gamer as a child. Sometimes I take a book with me but I almost never actually read. I really enjoy just sitting quietly with my thoughts.
Fricking grandpa, kys
Or better yet, I hope some youths beat you down for looking at them wrong, and the last thing you hear will be 'brr skibidi dop dop dop yes yes'
Old people should die, total dinosaur death
Bro, its zoomers that are the ones nutting iver nostalgia at this point. None of them can say Black person on twitter and they're trying to learn the ways of the antediluvian so they might say something saucy. With all the remasters now, zoomers feel like they arent really men unless if they grid the blockbuster designed games like battletoads.
Only if you are one of the trannies raiding Ganker from discord can you say the N-Word on blue boards without being banned is the common theory around these parts.
RG35XX plus, miyoo mini plus
go with RG35XX+ if you want absolute 100% PS1 compatibility except for ape escape (this only matters for some shit but demanding games like bloody roar), go with miyoo mini+ if you want a dpad
if the price for the system you're looking at is around the $75-$80 mark, then ignore both of them and get a retroid pocket 2S
What's the point when I can just buy a controller cradle for the phone I already own. Maybe in 2080 when FPGA handhelds can run the PS2 and are fiddy bucks, it'll be worth it, but certainly not now.
>game 3 pi entertainment system
I like these pi cases that look like old consoles, like the mega drive one, but jesus frick I wish they would stop writing daft nonsense on them.
It's the retro equivalent of a teapot that would be perfectly fine but they write some cutesy fricking homosexual shit on it like >"Time for Tea!"
I do have one and I love the frick out of it. Played through a bunch of Castlevanias, gen 4 Pokémon, Advanced Wars 1 and 2, and some Fire Emblem. A friend at work had one but he upgraded to a steam deck so he just gave it to me. I don’t give a frick about emulating on computer because it doesn’t have the handheld feel that I like so it works for me but I can understand why people don’t like them either
I'd only buy one of these if they had the DS/3DS form factor.
As most of the games I still wanna play are on those platforms and there are no cheap second hand 3DS where I live, which sucks, so I'll just stick to emulating it on PC for now.
Vita is the best emulation device because not only can it play retro games on a nice OLED screen but it has a great library of PSP and Vita games to play too.
I'd at least get it if they said this shit so their ebay listings sold. Snowballs chance in hell some wannabe dev thinks they're going to cut their teeth on the Vita homebrew scene.
Steam Deck OLED rendered the ROG Ally completely obsolete
Any system more powerful than a Steam Deck is only going to have the breathing room to USE that extra power when it's docked, rendering it pointless
If you have any misgivings about Linux there's nothing you need to do to make most games and all emulators run, and the few games that need help on Linux are no more complicated than Windows incompatibilities would be
Someone gave me an Anbernic RG351MP last Christmas and I've been playing it during carpool trips all of last year. I've gone through dozens of ALTTP randomizer seeds and a couple Pokémon randomizers, along with playing through some old games on consoles my parents got rid of when I was in high school. It's been probably the only console I've played on a regular basis in almost a decade.
For me, it's the 20/20/20 rule. As long as I don't stare at the screen continuously for more than 30 minutes, I can usually get through trips without getting motion sick. I'll also take a couple hours here and there to shit-talk with the other guys in the car, so that I'm not spending a majority of my time staring at a screen. Sometimes going on driving duty helps if I am getting motion sick.
Honestly despite owning hacked 3DS, PSP, Vita and Switch I might get one Miyoo Mini+ just because is cheap enough that it doesn't affect me and I love transparent devices.
Because I have absolutely no need for one.
I have a Game Boy Player and a flash card.
>playing Game Boy games on you're TV
It outputs in 720p and doesn't afraid of anything.
Why can't I doesn't afraid of anything, bros?
I played Gameboy games on my psx. what are you going to do about it? call customs?
I already own all the consoles I would want to emulate, and since I own a phone, a tablet and several bluetooth controllers I genuinely have no need for a portable emulation thingy. I can just use those instead.
The ones that ape the DMG look really nice, though.
I do the same thing, but I go even further into obsolete electronics idiocy and play them in 240p with a fan-made replacement for the Game Boy Player software. 🙂
>on you are tv
No, youre a TV!
these handhelds play everything from NES to arcade up to PS1
>ps1 games
>no triggers
>no sticks, which makes a lot of the library useless and the ones that aren't made completely unplayable definitely are gimped
>>no sticks, which makes a lot of the library useless and the ones that aren't made completely unplayable definitely are gimped
Frick all ps1 games used the sticks. mgs didnt. tomb raider didnt. crash and spyro didnt. tekken didnt. final fantasy didnt. theres probably only like 5 games that used the sticks.
More than Half of those did use the sticks, dumbass
Triggers are on the back
>to arcade
Wut
It's made of metal too, and can play Nintendo 64 through ParaLLEl which makes it *perfect*, literally, 100% accurate
Real organic white thumb you got there.
>when you try to be cordial and post a 'ick on 'nic pic but your brother makes fun of you by being born in America's hospitals
🙁
Look man these shills only have access to images from here and reddhouse. You are bound to get some fricked up hands eventually.
They can't very well post their own images since that would give up the ruse that they play games.
sigh... the shit I do for this website. Here you go, hands in sight too, I'm a proud brownie <3
fat
Thicc
>generic button layout instead of kino NGC giant A button
terrible
Doesn't the joycon get in the way of the face buttons?
*PS2
based and rg505 pilled, I'm thinking of getting one but I need to know if the buttons are really that uncomfortable
i have fat, stubby sausage fingers and i dont really find it uncomfortable, not even the shoulder buttons.
frick... maybe I should get it, gammaOS really makes the RG405m work amazingly, and this would be the best for android games
these handhelds barely can reach 50% speed in NES emulation
i dont go outside
Cute anon
I have a 3DS. That's good enough
i dont like the screen on that one
my vita still works fine
Which one should I buy? I want one to play games in bed when I'm tired.
Anbernic RG35XX seems like a good option and looks the least like a shitty knockoff imo. But there's usually handheld threads on >>>/vr/ with more info on other models
Looks good to me, it does exactly what I want it to. I'll check out the threads on /vr/ as well, thanks anon.
That's a Miyoo Mini Plus moron
I can just use my Vita if I want to play old games for some reason. It still has a great screen.
because I'm not a fricking man child who plays videogames made for 14 year old children in 1998
so you're just a homosexual that plays games made for moronic homos and street apes in 2024?
why do these gameboy players always have four buttons angled like that? i bet playing mario or something with b and a is uncomfortable cause it definitely is on a 3ds.
OH RIGHT THE 3DS
....you mean how the Nintendo button layout has always been like? They've always been in this configuration.
>They've always been in this configuration.
except for the nes, the famicon, the game boy, the game boy color, the game boy pocket, the game boy light, the game boy advance, the game boy advance sp, the game boy micro, the virtual boy, the n64
but it was that way on the ds so i guess you're right anon
(why does chrome put the new download thing right where you put the fricking image in on this site? that's infuriating)
Hmm i don't usually see a need for a handheld, other than play on bed. I got all the gameboys and ds to play the games, they might as well been homosexual consoles.
Ok thats typo i'm not into homosexual consoles like xbox
because I have a pc, and a nes mini. I was thinking about getting one of these or similar, but that shit is bound to cramp my hands up. I can't even play switch in handheld mode without my hands hurting like hell after 30 minutes
my Steam Deck mogs your cheap shit just $450 and i can emulate a N64 easy as sticking a hot dildo in a boy butter
>pretending a $500 200lbs handheld the size of a small dog is a portable handheld
A Deck is half the width and twice the height of a Surface laptop. Are Surface laptops portable?
Depends. You got pants? A jacket? No. Duffel bag? Sure. And LAPtops aren't handhelds in any way, by any definition.
I can already do that on my pc for free, and I don't have to waste an extra $450
>easy as sticking a hot dildo in a boy butter
I assume that's an activity you are quite acquainted with.
I already have my old psp.
I don't go outside, so I have no need for a handheld.
Got my chinkheld last Sunday and I have been playing ff7 on it. It's so comfy bros.
Emulating Game Boy on a device that big feels silly
make sure to exploit the game and farm sources in the downed Shinra airship with yuffies ultimate weapon
which one?
RG35XX plus
>It's so comfy bros.
Omg so true fellow totally legitimate user and passionate gamer! I can't wait to buy one... no, TWO for myself! Only a moron would want to miss out on this chance to return to his gaming childhood!
Ywnbaw
Autism as an insult on the internet? Truly original friend. I give you one upvote!
because why waste money on a dedicated handheld when I already have a Steam Deck that can do emulation and more?
waiting for the retroid pocket 4
I do
i just pulled my vita back out for this
apart from adrenaline (the native psp emulator) and the native ps1 emulator i never really emulated, what runs good enough that i don't need to care?
SNK and Capcom arcade games run pretty much perfectly on fba
chimeraSnes runs all the snes games i've tried without issues as well (even has fast forward)
Get the homebrew browser or vitaDB downloader and go through the games/apps, they have prettymuch all the homebrew released
If you like mario64 theres a port for vita that allows for analog camera controls, makes the game actually playable, now it's honestly a 10/10 for me
>homebrew brouser
it's taken the length of this entire thread for that app to open. thanks, anon.
Retroarch on my switch is better.
>on my switch
i tried emulating on my switch, but need for speed most wanted (2005) ran like shit so i immediately went back to ofw
Try emulating older games than that and they might just work. N64 maybe tops?
yea but im not trying to pay $100 for a modded chip and for someone to solder it. But i guess theres that flash cart coming out soon.
The flash cart will probably be over $100.
I have that dumb ass Analogue thing.
Me too. I like it but I don't know if I would ever recommend it to someone else.
I wanted to buy one but then I reminded myself that I never leave my basement.
these shitty emulators all use vsync which means additional frames of lag
i'll stick with 120hz 60fps capped gsync zero input lag complete frames emulation thanks
▶
>these shitty emulators all use vsync
WAHHH I WANT TEARING WAHH
people who b***h about vsync and "frames of lag" really aren't the pros that need that sort of thing
i'll always use vsync you onions cuck
>WAHHH I WANT TEARING WAHH
I don't get tearing you fricking moron. I even explained how, gay.
I have big hands. I would need something the size of an og Gameboy minimum to play comfortably.
Haven't seen one yet that is both as big as an og Gameboy and isn't too big for pocket. There is a sweet spot there.
>OG Game Boy
>not too big for pocket
is this you
>I have huge balls how did you know
Frick off zoomie. I had an og Gameboy, and it fit into regular pants.
You'd know if you ever wore pants instead of skinny jeans.
Anon regular pants do not fit that.
You have to be a cargo-pans wearing fedora queen for it to fit.
He had XXXL sized pants. American Regular.
I got just the abomination for you, senpai.
Is it decent?
I hate it personally, but it's your only choice for DMG format today that doesn't just end at PS1 and GBA.
It shouldn't be, but this is their first. For instance, heard about 405V's (optional) fan getting stuck and requiring shaking, that's Anbernic's first too.
Just get a SteamDeck or the Asus equivalent. Safer and easier than modding a switch.
>tfw cant play gb, gba or some ps1 games without fast forward
using that as a kid was a mistake
>Playing any pokemon at x1 speed
I would rather not.
The music and sounds were horrible at the speed I played so I turned them off.
I tried emulated once
then I realized there is no old game worth replaying
Zoomers get the rope
it's called a smartphone homie
Not OP but.
>touchscreen controls
If these things were half the price I’d pick one up in a heartbeat. It looks nice, but not $100 nice.
You still have to carry this shit around and it's not any cheaper than those chinksoles.
i own the (razer? whatever) brand one of these and holy shit are these things useless
i found they worked okay in those shit gta mobile ports from like 2011 but apart from that they really had no use
if this was still 2013 and people were just dirtily porting PS2 and ps3 games like dead rising and dead space this shit would be the coolest thing ever made
now that the only mobile games are cut the rope, a million clash of clans copies and candy crush these things kinda lost their use as soon as they existed
bad time, good execution
I can see it being a pretty good fit for Retroarch/other emulators and Steam Link or PlayStation remote play, but that’s pretty much it.
>emulators
i have some really bad news for iphone users
yeah it was fun to use for remote play and xbox streaming but apart from that?
You can sideload emulators on iOS, or just install them from an app store if you're jailbreaking.
>sideload on iOS
wait, have they enabled that yet? i'm still on like ios 13 or something cause some update fricked up my battery life before, but if ios 17 added sideloading i'm updating
It’s been available for years. You might already be able to install Testflight without updating but idk.
oh, i've already used testflight at some point for an ipod app that used spotify or something? it never worked and was a piece of shit but yeah testflight worked
i remember gba4ios being fricking awesome, is that still a thing?
You’re likely good to go with sideloading apps assuming the app in question supports your version of iOS.
>is that still a thing?
Lol it might be, I played the frick out of Pokemon FireRed on that with my 4S like 12 years ago. That app was unbelievable. It let you download ROMs directly in app, right?
It's been around forever, you just have to sign the application every week. There's software that does this for you though.
https://github.com/SignTools/SignTools
Here's one example.
I have an iPhone and haven’t bothered to set it up myself, but can’t you sideload emulators pretty easily in iOS? I did it with PPSSPP on an iPad a couple of years ago.
>buy smartphone
>buy $100 peripheral
>instead of just buying $50 chink device
>download a emulator for free so you can actually play games on high resolution without staring at a tiny screen
>buy smartphone
>phone doubles as a... phone
>controller doubles as a controller
>phone has to share its battery with video games and controller
>chinkheld doesn't have to share its battery with a phone
isn't that the entire point of a smartphone in the first place, using it for a bunch of dumb crap? what's it matter if you're spending battery time on tiktok or on catching pokemans?
It'd be nice with a battery addon for one of those controllers though, I do agree.
the difference is if i can get a device for $50 that plays everything i want it to and has a separate battery from my COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE I NEED TO HAVE HIGH BATTERY FOR COMMUNICATIONS i'll get that instead
then carry a battery?
why would i carry a battery pack when i can carry a dedicated handheld with its own battery
that sounds bulky and expensive
you are a fool
He's poor anon, don't bully him
And a phone controller that you have to remove when you're not playing games
The point of a smartphone was to saturate the market with a new, more profitable standard in consumer communication that people will buy by default because everyone else has one. Most people dont do much with their phones, it might as well be a dumbphone. Even those had shitty browsers and music players.
>Most people dont do much with their phones, it might as well be a dumbphone
t. friendlist loser
Everyone uses their phone for texting, tik tok, social media, youtube, spotify, and gayming.
>friendlist loser
Yeah so like I said, achievable with a shitty browser. The games are often so basic theyre more simple than the games you could buy for old dumphones. Insane you thought dumbphones were incapable of texting or media playback. You just dont know what dumphones were and are showing your ass.
>Navigating one by one through shitty browser tabs and even shittier web page layouts rather than just having multiple apps for each platform
Ah, so a friendless loser AND boomer luddite.
Do you think the touch screen makes smartphones smartphones? You dont know what a smartphone is. We're talking about the change in standard from dumphones to smartphones. Even if smartphones were never made, standards would keep improving. Straight up moronic.
Anon, the point was that the claim
>Most people dont do much with their phones, it might as well be a dumbphone.
Probably a flip phone that can just call and text. Completely vestigial in 2023.
A phone that isnt effectively a computer that im using right now with sideloaded apps to respond to you. Theyre effectively computers compared to the very limited suite of options and customizability, including fricking with files and managing files systems, we have now. This isnt hard.
Behold, my complete and utter lack of taste to show I'm not unwashed from the tide of android. Its basic shit. Dumbphone isnt a word I came up with. Like the stasi trying to seek out undercover luddites as if its your job.
>Dumbphone isnt a word I came up with.
I know, which is odd to me that you're twisting it to your own definition when you can look it up and the general consensus is

>Basic functions like calendars and built-in games
Have fun when you get older.

functions like calendars and built-in games
In 2005, the Motorola Razr V3i could
>email
>play music and video
>browse the web
>chat via AIM (it’s like whatsapp but not shit)
>be a mobile hotspot(though I think you needed hacked firmware)
Behold: a smartphone
Like 99% of mobile apps are just a browser that can only go to the app’s site. Shit that’s what most “desktop” apps are nowadays. I fricking hate Electron.
>Insane you thought dumbphones were incapable of media playback.
They were. Videos were choppy dogshit on tiny resolutions, complete garbage.
>Even if you spend more, like the $100 retroid systems/anbernic systems, you're getting up to PSP that's sorta playable (With slowdowns).
Actually, I think T610 (Pocket 2S) handles PSP fine.
Yeah but bandwidth doesnt define a smartphone.
pocket 2S is more in line with $150, unless you think the 3gb ram model is capable of playing anything when it's struggling to handle android underneath it, lmao.
But yeah you're right it does run psp okay, except the GoW games, but those are sorta the benchmark for psp emulation anyway.
>pocket 2S is more in line with $150, unless you think the 3gb ram model is capable of playing anything when it's struggling to handle android underneath it, lmao.
It is. 1GB does literally nothing for emulation, it's just for Roblox or Minecraft or whatever spastic kids get out of native Android gaymen.
Pocket 2S 4GB is $100, 3GB is $90. The extra gigabyte also doesn't matter whatsoever unless you're specifically playing Android games.
god of war games run fine on the system at 1x res
The 2S is literally $100 for the best model and that can run everything up to PSP.
It can run a decent chunk of Gamecube and a small chunk of PS2 too
>It can run a decent chunk of Gamecube
That's stretching it, I can barely get Smelee matches to run smooth while adventure mode keeps dipping, it's not a particularly demanding game to emulate.
Works On My Pocket
I'll believe it when I see your configs posted on the compatibility chart.
what in the hell are you going on about? is this about your dumb fricking canada dollars again?
I likely wouldn’t even own a smartphone if my family didn’t buy so many upgrades and throw their old smartphones at me. I have an iPhone 7 that very rarely gets used for much more than calling or texting people and playing music.
I miss when some cell phones were leaning really hard into the portable media player angle and had dedicated media buttons.
phones have high resolution amoled screens and can emulate up to the 3ds with switch emulation slowly getting there
the chinksole won't even run ps2 at quarter speed
I got one of these for free.
It's pretty much all you need.
Funny how quickly people moved from this to the gyno or whatever the new one is called. Now they're all shilling that one like this never existed.
Which one are you talking about? Galileo?
Yeah that's the one.
What a coincidence, I just bought that.
Ive tried emulating games with a smartphone, it's terrible. unless theres one with non-touch screen controls. frick that.
>got a miyoo chink for $30
cant complain, works fine with onion os and gbc looks cool
>OMG DUDE ITS LIKE A GAMEBOY BUT ALSO COMPLETELY NOT
Piss off, soiboy. Also
>STILL advertising a product here.
but i do
>miyoo mini doesn't charge from usb c to c, needs to be a to c, and not on any fancy charger or the wire will melt
>rgb30 literally just doesn't charge half the time
don't fall for chinkshit anons, these are marketing threads.
No chinkheld supports fast chargers, skill issue.
>needs to be a to c
so one of the most fricking common cables? dont people just charge it on a pc?
who are these people that use c to c anyway?
Mac users and high-end PC owners, probably.
tell me this shit is idiot proof and you just can't plug the wrong thing in, because I'm not learning a bunch of homosexual alphabet cables
plug normal person usb in on the plug end, plug switch plug in switch
... as is every single computer, console and electronic item that communicates over usb for the past 20 or so years. nice to meet you, grug.
Is there any cheap, easy to use console that can emulate up to the N64/PS1? Handheld or not, I don't care.
I was thinking of turning my Xbox One into an emulation machine, but the idea is to set it up for an older relative and it may be too confusing to use for him.
I have a GabeGear
>handheld
No thanks I only game at home
I got one, I mostly play gameboy tetris.
Because i like playing on my phone because it sucks. It's like going back to my inferior childhood skills. and beating the games all over again.
That's the cutest chink handheld i ever saw. The screen looks really clear too. Is it edited?
No. Usually, big emphasis on usually there, the screens are okay on those. Just avoid the Miyoo Mini Non-Plus like the plague, they ran out of good displays a while ago and it's some fricked up resolution now.
Already have a switch
No I don't want a tiny handheld, I'm done with that
I do and I love it, no matter where I am even during work breaks I can whip out this homie and just play whatever the hell I want from nes all the way to dreamcast
how do they work, you connect it to computer with usb and just upload the bios onto it?
very plug and play
these come pre-packaged with roms if you buy the sd card but I used my own, the emulators are already installed with the bios files already put in
you just point the emulator to where the games are and then select the game, you can use the built-in front-end if you lie or do like I did and install a new OS
Because I either emulate them on my phone or pc+controller+couch
I've already got a hacked PSP, thanks
I do, I have a Miyoo Mini and I liked it so much that I got a Miyoo Mini Plus. I had a great time with them, but I don't use them any more because I have a Steam Deck now. I'd definitely recommend getting one to basically anyone interested in emulation, but I'd go for something other than the Miyoo because there are now other ones with the same form factor and similar price with better specs.
You care more about the hardware you buy than the games you play on it. Most people buy these things, use them once, then never touch them again.
Forgot pic
Because that's loads more awkward to carry around than a device you can slip into your pocket at any time, the centre of gravity is always awkward on controller attachments, and draining your phone's battery when out in public is really annoying.
If you play games in, public kys
esl fail
I'll get right on that Ramesh
bring it on Amazon and i will buy your product, im not paying extra delivery tax
i've been laughing at "chinkheld" for five minutes now
I already have a modded switch. retoarch NES, SNES, GB/GBA, Genesis, PS1 works 100% of the time. I got like 8-9 hours of battery life on v1 switch running roms.
N64 PSP works with issues,
Dreamcast crashed when I tried
Right now I've got three. A PSP, a Vita and a 3DS. Also have a switch, but it's not jailbroken. (not sure how early it is, so I don't know if it's hackable)
handhelds are overrated. Switch is alright but I don't use for anything besides turn based games and VN
I was gonna get one but then some new ones were announced. What are the cool kids using / buying nowadays? I was originally looking at the anbernic RG35XX.
RG35XX+ if you don't need more than PS1, otherwise wait for the retroid pocket 4/4+
Or forget all this chink shit and get a steamdeck which gets tons of support and has great quality
Pocket 2S is the value king these days. 4/4 Pro is looking promising but early adopting chinkhelds is moronic.
Seconding Deck if you want something reliable and stupid strong that let's you play Demon's Souls.
4 Pro is literally just the 3+ but with a better chip. Unless the chinks screw up badly somehow, there shouldn't be any difference in the manufacturing line.
Never say never with chinks, plus there's the active cooling to factor in.
Is cooling going to be an issue? The 4 has the same chip as the Odin-lite and iirc the Odin doesn't have any cooling problems. I don't see the 4 pro being much different.
I do: my Steam Deck does literally everything I could ever want. I can go from playing AAA goyslop to emulating anything I want instantly.
>b-but it's too big!
it fits in my backpack and I don't have baby hands
>b-but the battery life!
emulation doesn't drain it fast at all and I have an extra battery just in case
>b-but oled
see steam deck oled
>b-but it's expensive
poor people problems
tbf i love my steam deck but the size and battery life really do just bring it down for me in the "portable" sense. i wish i got a small black new 3ds instead of this new 2ds that's fricking neon red with a gigantic pokeball on the front, try taking THAT out on the bus
If you keep trying to run the most recent AAA games, yeah the battery life sucks. But if you're emulating and optimize the settings, my deck gets up to 6-7 hours on a single charge
>the most recent AAA games
GTA 4 is not the most recent AAA game, neither is THUG2, why are they four hours anon?
I'm not playing pong on my $450 emulation machine frick off
(why didn't i get a (you) for this?)
skill issue
>"the battery life is good!"
>"uh no it isn't"
>"SKILL ISSUE SKILL ISSUE"
zoomies should get the rope
>reddit spacing
frick off, you've already outed yourself
reddit doesn't even allow line breaks i don't think, i just like spacing my message out
take your meds, schizo
>too new to recognize reddit spacing
you frick off too
>reddit spacing
Forced newbie meme
Yeah no matter what shills say, the Deck has a serious battery problem. Doesn't matter if you literally only play up to N64 retro games, but at that point just get a chinkheld for literally 1/3 the price.
Can't speak for the OLED though. Never owned it (I returned my LCD Deck), but Anons have said the battery is "drastically" improved.
ah, that might be it. i'm on an lcd one.
>needs to carry it in a fricking backpack AND carry a second battery
kek
>I can't carry a backpack because it's too heavy!
Come on Mary Jane. A little workout will do you good.
where did you read something about it being heavy? holy projection lil bro
I carry my backpack everywhere anyway so it's literally a nonissue
>carries a backpack and a steamdeck around
>gets robbed
I don't live around Black folk
I got the actual device, I don't need this cheap chink shit.
I don't need it, I don't need it . . .
It plays video games and Ganker doesn't play games. Especially not old games without cutscenes and no handholding, that's too much for the morons that live here.
Even as a kid I thought handhelds were fricking lame.
Aside from PC, I believe that a handheld is by far the most enjoyable way to play vidya. I don't know why that's the case but somehow vidya is just more appealing that way
>I have always been a flaming homosexual !
You don't say
Yeah well you're fricking lame and everyone knows it
There’s not a single game among the thousands I’d want to play from the pre-ps2 era, and any of the ones from the ps2 are better experienced emulated on a full rig with a real controller.
are people just playing the same gameboy games for the millionth time? have you not beaten links awakening already? buy a steamdeck and keep up with good portable gaming
i haven't beaten any zelda games other than minish capm but hopefully 'eck will help my backlog
stick to picture books, anon. an imageboard might seem like the same thing but it's above your grade level, it seems.
AWAY, AWAY, ANBERNIC SHILLS
YOUR COMPANY IS DYING AND YOUR COPYRIGHT ON THE RG353V IS NON-ENFORCEABLE
>HAHA YOU CHINESE HANDHELD USER MY CHINESE HANDHELD IS BETTER
ok broomer
My company isn't moronic enough to try and blacklist one of its biggest shills after it mishandles a Vita OLED screen so badly that it causes performance issues on fricking Super Nintendo and even that shill can't defend it.
what kind of mental illness is this
that post is referring to anbernig blacklisting taki udon for iirc the RG503 which used a vita screen and had bafflingly bad performance for its price and chipset
I wouldnt ever keep a handheld in my pocket even if it was gameboy sized, thats just uncomfortable and prone to dropping. Carry a backpack everywhere with my steamdeck in a case
I love this lil' homie like you wouldn't believe. It's been perfect for the 8/16 bit-era backlog.
I don't have many complaints given the price.
only complaint i have is the buzzing noise, but the next version of Onion OS should fix it
It's Blackberry's surplus, the story goes. Or was rather, now the non-Plus is total shit.
Very old ones on Linux (2003 I think? It's a retroarch core), newer ones on Android with wildly varying results.
>Get handheld
>Filtered by bios / setup
>Can't play Saturn / Dreamcast /Sega CD in particular without the autism settings
>Oh boy, another junk Sega Genesis handheld
That's why. I'm fricking filtered and can't set Sega CD. Shit never works lmao
Sounds like emulating and handhelds aren't for you anon
>take the bait and buy rg405m
>initially think, "hey this is great. 1/3 of the android ui doesn't function which is kind of weird but whatever"
>set up daijisho and emulators
>face buttons stick when pressed in unison right of of the box, "eh.. I can get used to this I guess"
>play through a bunch of games ranging from gb to ps1 for a few months
>keep getting caught in tenchu because it won't the device won't register long presses of the shoulder buttons, "well, I'll just play another game not so reliant on the buttons..."
>monitor pops out, "uhh okay, I will just glue it back on..."
>battery stops charging eventually
>monitor eventually dies
>contact anbernig support
>as it has been 5 months, it is still under warranty, so we will replace it for you for $150
>kicking myself for thinking a chinese device sold for a couple hundred might have quality control
Only $50 for OP's. That's a yearly fee, though.
>They're like 50 bucks.
that's why
I don't need this when I have a modded 3DS (2DS LL)
I bought an rg35xx a couple of months ago, haven't had a handheld since the gba.
Finished Pokemon Fire Red and I have barely touched it since.
I tried to play A Link to the Past and Shantae but I found both to be pretty boring, I really need to find something else to play, I tried to control myself and download maybe 10-15 games to avoid playing them just for 10 min but I couldn't.
Also, I may give this one away and buy this
.
This one is not comfortable for me for anything that isn't GB games.
let me guess, you need more?
I need N64 emulation that isn't bad and it's actually lost the godly d-pad and hall effect sticks as points in its favor. Still plays PS1 and PSP too. Gimme a Retroid Pocket 2S
Because when I leave the house, it's for a reason, not to sit in a park and twiddle my thumbs.
If i'm at home, i'm not using a handheld.
I don't travel enough to justify it.
i have a steamdeck which is basically that and more
Because I have an actual GBA and the games I want?
I do, it's called a laptop.
I LOVE MY MIYOO MINI
upvoted :^)
Same anon
well i already have a computer anyway ans emulation software is free, and it can run emulators up to ps3 so i'm fine
why would I wanna play old games
old games are better
any good PSP knock off?
The actual form factor or the emulator? Chinkhelds actually cloning the PSP or even Vita's look are extremely rare
Been playing old FE games on this lil' beast. The build quality feels really great, i get like 13-15 hours on power saving mode and i really like the compact size, hate the sticks though.
iirc all of the anbernig shit uses switch joycon sticks so you could probably dump gulikit hall effect sticks in them
okay. i'm going to try a jrpg.
why would you waste money on a rog ally instead of a steamdeck?
Because the OLED is $700 and the Ally was on sale for $550.
>the OLED is $700
what fricked up websites are you getting your decks from, anon?
I'm a leaf.
A FRICKING LEAF
SAY FRICKING CANADIAN DOLLARS THEN YOU FRICKING IDIOT
you notice how australian people always say "australian dollar" or the hong kong people say "the hong kong dollar" or whatever?
if you say "the steam deck is $700" you're going to look like a fricking moron for a reason. christ sake anon, you fricking leaf moron
>you notice how australian people always say "australian dollar" or the hong kong people say "the hong kong dollar" or whatever?
Honestly, no. I'm pretty sure chinks don't post on Ganker either.
>american too stupid to recognize canadian prices
ummmm ky Black person
>american
try hard moron
(me)
*harder
sorry
>ky Black person
>kill your Black person
gladly
not american? floor model OLED is $549
kinda wish british prices weren't based on american online prices, cause most games on digital storefronts that usually cost $10 vary from £6-whatever the frick they were feeling
i liked how xbox arcade always had their games at £6.75, nice threshold
I can just use one of the 38 other things I own that are capable of playing SNES games
I can't accept anything that doesn't look official
For what purpose? I can play retro games on my phone.
Would it be possible to play RPGmaker games on one of these things?
That screen is way too small for porn.
where there’s a will there’s a way
i wanna play dialtown portably
android has easyrpg player, dunno about linux systems like JelOS
EasyRPG is on Linux too, Android gets JoiPlay for newer RPGMaker AND Ren'Py.
They're cool but the ergonomics are terrible if your hands are larger than a child's
Do Black folk emulate games or is strictly a white man's hobby?
the only game white people emulate is pokemon
most emulation focused communities are filled with brown people that can barely construct a sentence
this post reeks of "guy who believes everything he reads on Ganker"
You're thinking of the snoy homebrew scene. Emulation devs are extremist commie trannies who kill themselves while living in Japan.
Ever tried to play any real game on that? Controls are dogshit. Besides, you can't get a turDS for $100 now.
I broke my buck
why waste $50 on this piece of shit when you can get a 3ds for like $100.
The 3ds is fricking shit.
I have a bunch of handhelds and a recently released phone. I'm good.
I have a miyoo mini but its too inconvenient to play any games that require use of the shoulder buttons
Also have a Razer Kishi to use with an older mobile phone but the D-pad sucks
So do these things have an FPGA in there or is it just laggy/screen teary shit running on linux or something?
Use your head, obviously not a FPGA at that price-point. Also use your head, this isn't 2005, emulation on a mobile chipset hasn't sucked in a good 10-15 years.
>emulation on a mobile chipset hasn't sucked in a good 10-15 years.
It still sucks.
One does, it's vastly overpriced, has a shoddy d-pad and vertical format with the worst shoulder buttons on the market and only goes up to SNES IIRC. Take photo for Reddit and never touch it again collector bullshit.
linux for the ultra cheap devices like the miyoo mini in OP, android for the slightly less cheap ones.
>Generally speaking these devices are so cheap cause they use bare minimum parts with almost 0 quality control
they're cheap because they use easily available mobile chipsets and parts ripped from old cheap devices you fricking moron lol
Got one of those for Christmas. Playing it a ton, beat Streets of Rage and Castle of Illusion on it this week.
I have a steam deck and an analogue pocket
i do
game?
Champion of the spade.
>let me guess, you need more
Who are you quoting?
I do, just not shitty Chinese software ones.
>slightly touch your cartridge
I've already told you morons before that either you're trying really hard to move it or you got a defective unit.
Especially for GBA that's complete bullshit and even the GB ones don't move that easily.
why are you playing with cartridges instead of just fricking ripping them?
Genuine question is there a reason for that or is it just MUH NOSTALGIA
What is the point of a FPGA then? This scam is pendering to nostalgia gays who whant the True Experience(tm).
Cool, I can do that on a 50$ chink handheld, and way more
>poorgay
No, just not moronic
Honest answer, I think it has something to do with emulation not emulating properly as these games really do need CRTs for the authentic experience and you need to feed them with the proper PAL or NTSC signal for whatever version you're using.
Never bothered me since I use emulators for everythin and I run retropie like a pleb but that's what purists say.
How little do you have to have going for you to want this kind of plastic shite?
The people who buy them don't even remember the original systems so they're nostalgic for something they didn't experience.
I have sex
No okay I don't.
Why these ching company never post their product on Amazon, I'm paying extra delivery charges plus the waiting time is 2much
Future suicide. You can go buy a lot of these off amazon right now.

You're lucky to live in a country where shipping, taxes, VAT and import fees doesn't triple the cost of EVERYTHING you want to import.
I have 5. One is a PC, one is a PSP, one is a Vita, one is a Deck and one is a Laptop. Guess you can count my hacked 3DS too, so 6
Which is the best if i just wanna play snes, gb. Gbc, gba and ps1 final fantasies?
Your phone with a Bluetooth controller.
I dont wanna use my phone
Anbernic rg35xx
GB300
Vita
Your phone will completely mog any of these meme devices.
only thing against the phone is lack of buttons
For turn based RPGs you really don't need buttons.
I played FF7 for the first time on my phone and would do it all over again.
*+50 bucks shipping"
Fricking grandpa, kys
Or better yet, I hope some youths beat you down for looking at them wrong, and the last thing you hear will be 'brr skibidi dop dop dop yes yes'
Old people should die, total dinosaur death
Bro, its zoomers that are the ones nutting iver nostalgia at this point. None of them can say Black person on twitter and they're trying to learn the ways of the antediluvian so they might say something saucy. With all the remasters now, zoomers feel like they arent really men unless if they grid the blockbuster designed games like battletoads.
>None of them can say Black person
They don't want to get banned or have their (fleeting) reputation evaporated.
Only if you are one of the trannies raiding Ganker from discord can you say the N-Word on blue boards without being banned is the common theory around these parts.
None of them can emulate PS2 or even dreamcast at full speed. Steam deck is better for my usescase.
i have a 3ds for that
I do
bought this bad boy for like $30 a month ago
troony colors.
> Muh purple is the best color omgggg!!!
Just come out of the closet homosexual.
Imagine being so closeted you see light with a wavelength between 380 and 435nm and immediately think about cutting your dick off
Nobody said anything about cutting your dick off other than you, b***h boy.
Oh I guess you meant the other kind of troony. Royal Purple is a decent transmission fluid, yeah. Makes sense to call it the troony color.
They are too weak for Retroarch
They lack of Hall sticks
They lack of touchscreen
>*laughs in RP2S*
I don't emulate much and I have a Steam Deck which can do it anyway.
what would you suggest for someone who's more interested in psx games than game boy ones?
That one also runs psx
And what would that one be?
RG35XX plus, miyoo mini plus
go with RG35XX+ if you want absolute 100% PS1 compatibility except for ape escape (this only matters for some shit but demanding games like bloody roar), go with miyoo mini+ if you want a dpad
if the price for the system you're looking at is around the $75-$80 mark, then ignore both of them and get a retroid pocket 2S
Are you eating ass? You can run bloody roar full speed on the rg35xx. Use the select button to overclock. Is the plus underpowered dogshit?
Just saw you guys dont even have custom firmware yet. Sucks.
What's the point when I can just buy a controller cradle for the phone I already own. Maybe in 2080 when FPGA handhelds can run the PS2 and are fiddy bucks, it'll be worth it, but certainly not now.
I’m not smart enough to know how to use one.
I have my Vita, 3DS, Switch, Deck and Ally for all that.
>ally
Why would you post about your white boyfriend?
It's ROG Ally, tyvm.
>all these posts shilling the Anbernic rg35xx
>check it out
>only ships from china on the I assume official site.
I don't trust china, bros.
chinese devices only ship from china?? no frickin way
I've never once gotten burned on an Aliexpress purchase or a direct-from-China purchase
t. buys lots of keyboard parts and retro handheld bullshit
It's called my Steam Deck, it can play anything I want to emulate.
i have this exact one but I honestly should've gotten an horizontal unit
i have two actually. 351v (wood grain) and 405v (gb)
You need more?
>game 3 pi entertainment system
I like these pi cases that look like old consoles, like the mega drive one, but jesus frick I wish they would stop writing daft nonsense on them.
It's the retro equivalent of a teapot that would be perfectly fine but they write some cutesy fricking homosexual shit on it like
>"Time for Tea!"
But I do.
It even has it's own dedicated games!
I have a mini and an anbernic rg-whatever. I never use either of them
I do have one and I love the frick out of it. Played through a bunch of Castlevanias, gen 4 Pokémon, Advanced Wars 1 and 2, and some Fire Emblem. A friend at work had one but he upgraded to a steam deck so he just gave it to me. I don’t give a frick about emulating on computer because it doesn’t have the handheld feel that I like so it works for me but I can understand why people don’t like them either
what is a poorgay way to add buttons to your smartphone to make playing less painful?
https://a.co/d/1jclurj
is there something like this on aliexpress? no amazon where im at
No clue
I agree, but its an example.
>poorgay
>40$
make it 4, man
still have a GBA and kirby's dreamland copy in my closet that is the only retro game I want to play besides 90's FPS
I'd only buy one of these if they had the DS/3DS form factor.
As most of the games I still wanna play are on those platforms and there are no cheap second hand 3DS where I live, which sucks, so I'll just stick to emulating it on PC for now.
I have two, RG280 and RG351P. Should've just bought a 35XX instead, really.
Because my phone already does it.
Vita is the best emulation device because not only can it play retro games on a nice OLED screen but it has a great library of PSP and Vita games to play too.
Why in gods name do people shill the Vita for emulation when it runs like shit? The Vita doesn't have a bustling homebrew scene.
visiting this website just turns you into a meandering contrarian
I'd at least get it if they said this shit so their ebay listings sold. Snowballs chance in hell some wannabe dev thinks they're going to cut their teeth on the Vita homebrew scene.
Because I had my GPS Win 3 for nearly 3 years.
Should I get a steam deck or rog ally?
Steam Deck OLED rendered the ROG Ally completely obsolete
Any system more powerful than a Steam Deck is only going to have the breathing room to USE that extra power when it's docked, rendering it pointless
If you have any misgivings about Linux there's nothing you need to do to make most games and all emulators run, and the few games that need help on Linux are no more complicated than Windows incompatibilities would be
Thanks! Steam deck it is. I hate windows 11 anyway lol
It's been probably the only console I've played on a regular basis in almost a decade.
kind of jealous of people who can read/play in a car without turning into a puke fountain
country buses or trains are fine though, comfy way to travel
For me, it's the 20/20/20 rule. As long as I don't stare at the screen continuously for more than 30 minutes, I can usually get through trips without getting motion sick. I'll also take a couple hours here and there to shit-talk with the other guys in the car, so that I'm not spending a majority of my time staring at a screen. Sometimes going on driving duty helps if I am getting motion sick.
I really can't tell if this is bots and shills or if anons here are genuinely purchasing and enjoying these
I'd probably get bored of mine within 6 months once the novelty wore off
If you want suicide material, just go look at their communities and realize people collect these things in multiple colors.
>getting bored of emulated games
homie, you've got tens of thousands of games to play, how are you bored?
Why would I need that when I have a 3DS?
but i do
emulation is ILLEGAL
I do, my copy is better because I have the matching black d-pad, start, select, and menu buttons rather than the grey ones. First run were matching.
I got one 2 years ago, it's fine for playing some GBA and SNES games, but I mainly use my phone for DS and PSP
Honestly despite owning hacked 3DS, PSP, Vita and Switch I might get one Miyoo Mini+ just because is cheap enough that it doesn't affect me and I love transparent devices.
I can’t die.
?feature=shared
Because I do my emulation on an arcade cabinet with a beer keg inside and a heated koozie to cradle my enormous fricking nuts
