Just listen to reviewers who have the same taste as you or look at aggregates, it isn't hard. Who gives a shit about whatever Kotaku or your leftist boogeyman reviewer is saying about games
That's true but the real problem in my eyes is that paid critics are useless and make even a flawed system lose what little value it had. I've lost count of the number of games which are rated 6.1 through 6.9 but are pisslow 3 to 4 in reality and will be forgotten easily.
Thing is 6.1-6.9 is still considered a low score and not something that people would normally want to pick up anyways. Though this could be a chicken and egg problem where it's not clear what started the review score issue first.
I'm astounded by how many people think this game is good, or even passable. I played through the first bit and was astounded by how shit the writing was. Incredibly inconsistent, lots of wasted time, really terrible humour, if it's even trying to be humour.
I don't play VNs. Everyone said this one was one of the best and it was shit, so I kind of gave up on the genre.
999 was pretty decent though, does that count?
That's exactly the score it deserves. SG is only popular because of the time period in which it released. There are a million better VNs which tackle much more interesting subjects.
Make your own judgements of video games. Half of the shit i loved back in the PS2 era got very average/middling reception. I'm always playing games that no one will play because of gaming journos not reviewing them favorably. I'm not doing it to be contrarian or anything, i just don't trust anyone else's judgement but my own. It has to take something being universally hated for me to actually stop and take that at face value for what it is. So i guess I'm one of those people who look for hidden gems, games that may seem flawed in some way but didn't get the proper recognition it deserved.
I know this is a bait thread but does anyone know of that one AO3 fanfic where Okabe wakes up in bed next to 30 year old Kurisu because of some time leap bullshit? Been looking for it for quite some time
It was really heartwarming.
>6.9
Nice
>review from woman
>ign
>real name
useless
what's wrong with using your real name?
>using your real name
>for anything
>ever
implies that you are paid to write reviews or that you are not being sincere because you want to pander to certain fanbase/company.
Damn zoom zoom.
The internet is constantly changing for the worse, for the reasons in your image and so many others.
Nice
babby's first time travel work, if it was actually good why did none of the other sci fi works do well and mages went bankrupt
Sounds like a filtered pleb to me.
That's the score SG deserves, any higher is too much.
>weebshit VN
That score is way too high.
Anime website.
Visual novels are the worst combination of anime and games.
I still listen to Steam reviews, you can't stop me. Critics are hit or miss and there's way too much corporate shilling these days
Just listen to reviewers who have the same taste as you or look at aggregates, it isn't hard. Who gives a shit about whatever Kotaku or your leftist boogeyman reviewer is saying about games
Seems like a perfectly reasonable score. I know Reddits;Gate is your first VN so this cuts you personally but you need to face the facts.
Why don't you go back if you know so much about reddit?
Imagine being so much of a loser to """play""" visual novels. Yikes
reviews for games (and movies) make much more sense when you realize that 5 is 1 and 10 is 10
10 point scales are so stupid when the first 5 points all mean the same thing, that the game is terrible.

name good sci fi VN

>what the frick this game is shit

>you can NEVER trust a review from anyone?
especially on Ganker
Ganker is the only place I trust. Why should I listen to anyone else?
>Ganker is the only place I trust.
if Ganker starts shilling Skyrim or other mediocre games, would you trust them?
I like the other baby's first visual novels, Ever17, Higurashi, Fata Morgana and all that, but never liked Steins;Gate.
It's sad how often anons feel the need to be contrarian about things just to get attention.
first time ive ever agreed with an ign rating. steins gate is mid
Only because there aren't any games better than mid

I don't have the time to do that kind of exploration in detail anymore. Reviews are necessary just because they can help save time like this.
Why does ign even review vns?
