Why even call it a gibdo? They're clearly not the traditional enemy.

they don't allow depictions of zombies in china so they can't call them redead
I'm sure this isn't actually true. Just that some localization companies advice against them.
I'm pretty sure it still is and depictions of blood/bones/corpses are still censored in most games allowed for sale officially in china.
This makes no sense because picrel is clearly a zombie with exposed bones
this isn't tree at all, they didn't censor dead space or callisto protocol
true*
I doubt that's it given all the skeleton enemies in the game.
Last time we had this thread somebody said China doesn't care if it's non-human skellies and BotW/TotK only has Bokoblin, Moblins, and LIzalfos skelly monsters.
Not only is this not true, the game has phantom Ganon, which basically looks like a zombie.
CCP has no "rules," just vague guidelines so that devs have to proactively censor everything, and they can ban your shit for anything afterwards anyway
They don't "have" to do anything, and I listed two examples of games that didn't get censored. a bunch of people think this meme is some real law and that it's illegal for chinks to see these things, which is moronic and evidently untrue. This belief seems to be the only reason why the odd game ever gets censored like that over there in the first place.
it's not a belief, just the very real fact that CCP can and will do whatever it chooses to do regardless of what the devs do or not do, there is no rule of law anyone can build an honest business out of, random CCP infighting destroyed their entire domestic game industry for no other reason
>it's not a belief
Yes it is? People even talked about it ITT thinking it was real. The belief is that people think they banned depictions of the undead, which isn't true. Somehow you were too much of an ESL to see that and it doesn't even seem like you even know what you're talking about anymore.
Are you moronic?
The chinks are not to be trusted, simple as.
Go lie on another board, Zhang.
And now you start screeching at people calling them chinks because they don't just walk in like like the bugs you claim all chinks to be..
Like fricking clockwork. Are you off your meds?
Redeads and gibidos are in hyrule warriors
Why does China even have this rule?
Flexing their soft power to make creative output shittier.
Iirc China doesn't want its people to believe (i.e. have the smallest idea about) in an afterlife or something like that.
what the frick
Or ghosts. The point is to not give the idea you can do shit outside life.
The game has stalfos and a lich-Ganondorf.
China can't have skeletons either so that's not the case
They just wanted to nostalgia pander but while avoiding the most obvious choices but the original design sucks ass since it's just a cartoony mummy
Nintendo is a toy company for 6 year olds now, they are no longer interested in general audiences
>picrel is more appropriate for 6 year olds than goofy mummies.
I'd say so, but what do you think?
I thought it was a redead since it had no wrappings.
>always thought pic was a redead because it screams to freeze you in place
>it’s a gibdo because the wrappings and I didn’t notice the wrappings before
>wonder why gibdos can freeze Link
>look back at OoT and see that both ReDeads and Gibdos freeze link
What the frick? I didn’t know it was alsways like that since the 3D zeldas.
Now post the OoT gibdo.
It's just a mummy, baby's first halloween costume after a ghost sheet
TP was one of my first Zelda games and the twilight monsters scared me shitless, in fact I dropped the game for a while at first, to not talk about the ice boss, but I didn't care less about the mummy with a sword besides finding it cool
The twist is that they look like zombies when they're actually bugs
Everyone ignoring these fax is annoying me.
Why even post on Ganker? It's clearly not the board it traditionally used to be
you're right, let's get it back on track to appeal to the modern Ganker audience
>lust provoking image
>irrelevant time wasting question
because it's a recognizable name that's already optimized for search engines and it sure as hell beats coming up with something new !
you've made this thread before
>have to burn them to damage them
the main mechanic behind gibdos, they're gibdos.
the version in totk also
>has a visible ribcage
>implied to be some sort of insect that possesses the skeletal remains of ancient gerudo prisoners
>the graveyard in the depths
the idea they're shying away from mummies because china and not just doing another version of the same enemy as they've done dozens of times before is absurd and based in cultural ignorance. especially when they're walking possessed skeletons.
>have to burn them to damage them
ackshually any elemental damage hurts them (not sure if water works and am too lazy to check)
Yes any element works. I always use splash fruits on them because it's the most useless element anyway.
>They're shambling slowly toward us and straight into the barriers they could easily walk around!
>Our enemy truly knows no fear!
God i wanna tongue bathe Riju
get in line, homie!
And you never will 🙂
How are the cartoon zombies from the kid game more scary that the bug guys?
Because that's a redead not a gibdo
I always liked how they would eerily glance at you if they were out of range
Somehow they are scarier when they are not biting your head off.
redeads from Wind Waker are literally the scariest enemies in a non horror game and its not even close. I havent played replayed wind waker since a decade ago and they still give me PTSD everytime i scroll and see an image of them
rather fight a regenerator a million times at night in RE4 than ever fight this thing again
OOT redeads on a crappy 1998 at best LCD screen are way scarier. Being younger probably didn't help, but it was often hard to even see them until you were within shrieking distance.
I think everyone in this thread forgot about Wallmasters and Dead Hands.
OoT was a scary game for its time
WW Redeads are uncanny in their proportions, have the red eyes, only appear in dark environments, and have a mouth large enough to crush your skull in. As a kid I remember going frick this when you drop into a room with them under the cabana with no way to know beforehand that they're even there.
they are terrifying
>room with them under the cabana
I nearly shit my pants when I first got to that part as a kid.
They look more like redead than gibdos, also redeads also had to be burned
Bright light also does the trick, you can just lob dazzlefruit in the general vicinity to drop them too.
I need to quit clicking on threads about this game. I'm only a couple of hours into it. The gibdos in this game apparently look very cool and are now parasites instead of Universal monster movie mummies? I like it.
No, they're literally just bugs
That's cool. I've really enjoyed BotW and TotK's take on enemy designs in these games. I didn't expect Like-Likes to look anything like the way they do in this game.
They're bugs with spawner hives and a queen, some of them grow wings and fly
I'm 90 hours in only just met them.
These are literally redeads
redeads are rotten corpses, not bugs
>redeads are rotten corpses
they're clay propped up by magic moron, that's why they always drop magic when killed
Explain the ones that lurked in the Royal Family Tomb before Ganondorf took power.
Why would the eat their fallen if they're just clay golems? Why are they called "re-dead" and explicitly undead creatures?
maybe a golem animated by a vengeful spirit? little of both
Why indeed?
Don’t they talk in MM?
when you wear the gibdo mask, gibdos talk while redeads dance. iirc ingame lore says redeads are the remains of a dancing troupe
Stop noticing things.
If they call them Gibdos, you'll stop and clap when you see them. If they call them something new, you wont.
They're mummies without the wrappings, desiccated from the desert environment. Makes sense as far as redesigns go. Not like Zelda enemies haven't gone through a redesign in the past before.
These gibdos are not less creepy than a zombie from the other games. It's like a demonic bug is using a dead body, zombie ant style. Even the "nests" look like mushrooms, probably because it was inspired by cordyceps. Instead of fungi they are evil bugs.
>It's like a demonic bug is using a dead body,
No it isn't. Spines aren't 6 inches thick. It's just a bug that kind of looks like a skeleton
Anon gibdos are literally found in the gerudo graveyard and prisoner cells. They are dead gerudo with evil bugs inside them.
Fricking hell, this game really is for 6 year olds. That's not what a fricking skeleton looks like, moron.
>That's not what a fricking skeleton looks like
It's an undead born from the malice of a pig/mummy/guy, being realistic is the less important thing lol
>It's an undead born from the malice of a pig/mummy/guy,
Exactly, that's the point. It's not literally a dead body, which redeads and gibdo used to be.
>It's not literally a dead body
>Zombie because it's a parasite vs zombie because it's animated with evil magic.
In the end zombies are just walking corpses. What i really wanted to see were redeads. Maybe in the DLC
It's not a fricking parasite. It's just a large insect that looks kind of like a skeleton.
I miss when Ganon was a blue porker. Now he looks like a bad guy from Monster World/Wonder Boy or something.
There's a Yiga base in the depths that has a note referring to Gibdos as the executed
>tanky undead enemy
>fire weakens it and changes its appearance
How is that not a Gibdo? If you're going to criticize the reuse of a monster name it should be the like likes since you have to go out of your way to get eaten by them and they don't steal your stuff.
They steal stuff but it's only temporary
Really? I let one eat me just to see and I didn't notice anything missing.
that anon is probably thinking of likelikes
That's what we're talking about. I was criticizing totk's like likes for not stealing stuff, but maybe they do after all. Although even if they do, it's still lame that they can basically never eat you.
I don't know if likelike eating is consistent, but yeah. I was killing one, and its buddy grabbed me. I panicked a bit since I had the hylian shield equipped. Thankfully dropped with its other loot after I killed it.
it bugs me out they're not mummies
>clearly not the traditional enemy
Fits BotW and TotK perfectly, then.
>entire Gerudo section loses most of its punch if you have foreknowledge about Gibdos' weakness from the previous games
honestly felt like being punished for knowing my shit
I imagine if you didn't know you would still have tried shooting them with some kind of elemental arrow after seeing that you do no damage. I don't think the weakness is supposed to be a particularly well kept secret.
I just took a picture then checked the compendium when I realized my normal attack wasn't working
I honestly just figured it out by accident because I had Sidon equipped
Zelda enemies change radically between games. It's always been that way.
>Gibdos are bugs now
>But they don't wrap themselves up in silk
>Which would make them look mummified in a way
It could've been perfect
I can not describe the disappointment when they did not scream
TotK is NOT CANON and was developed mostly by team B. The sooner Ganker understands this the better
Bruh that's an Aparoid
>Why even call it a moblin? They're clearly not the traditional enemy.
>They're clearly not the traditional enemy.
This makes me wonder why Darknuts weren't in BoTW or ToTK with all the other classic Zelda 1 enemies showing up
Darknuts are slow chunky knights, doesn't really work for a large open world. Lynel were a great choice for a replacement.
>moron doesn't know what he talks about
>makes a moronic thread on Ganker, claiming to know shit about the game he talks about
>he doesn't
>makes a moron out of himself
You're right. They're not gibdos. They're way fricking cooler. They should call them :cooler gibdos".
