Come on, man. I love the game but the story is great, graphics are great, music is good, the rest is not any better than middling.

The dungeons are fine. The problem is that encounters can load mid-jump and frick your angles.

And by the time you get it there are no more challenges for on-foot section of the game, you'll be using your gears.
it's a jrpg that largely takes itself seriously, has very few corny japanese humor moments, and has almost no sexualized fanservice, while still focusing on the story and characters.
This seems like a winning strategy to me, but so few jrpg go this route for some reason.
Xenoblade 2 turned everything around and it's like the most popular one I figure, so you see why. Not that it's a good thing. All I dream of is a game that is basically Xenogears but with good gameplay
For me the order is XG > Saga 3 > Blade X

I called out sexualized fanservice specifically, because the game is full of robot and martial arts fanservice, however neither of those significantly detract from the seriousness and tone of the game. that's why I didn't say overall fanservice.
It is a winning strategy, but people fear greatness. Some day the HBO of game devs will come out and produce high quality stuff across the board.
this game is full of corny shit, has bad combat, is slow, has bad dungeons (especially when platforming is involved), etc. the story is a bunch of childish moronation on top of vague hints of something substantial. there are probably people on this board who like billy lol.
the one redeeming quality of xenogears is the ost, which, except for the 2 god-awful vocal tracks, is excellent.
Too bad it’s full of pseudo intellectual writing and a convoluted plot that ultimately goes nowhere
you legitimately got filtered. the plot resolves all of the issues that happened during the game and makes perfect sense, and while the script does include a lot of religious and scientific terminology, it's mostly used correctly.
tl;dr: you were just too dumb to understand any of it.

It might not have much fanservice by TODAY'S standards, but for it's time it was at the very least middle of the pack.

A game that blow up their budget but they still decided to give up and everything else to convey as much of the story even going as far as doing a VN segment, they wanted to tell a story and thats about it,hardly seemed they took in mind what people wanted or public for that matter

what's there to apologize for? Disk 2 is the best part of the game. 100% plot development and boss fights, no filler.

Yeah, and also how insane your levels are at by the end of Disc 1 (more than the average jrpg) and most deathblows are learned by that point too. It really felt like they were going with Sakaguchi's idea of splitting it up into two games and balancing it around ending in Solaris before Takahashi went nvm and crammed as much as he could into Disc 2. The last part of Disc 1 felt like it was still in beta testing.

Xenosaga was a defacto prequel based on perfect works but it has a lot of lore differences
'Saga was basically in 3 episodes what was to be Ep. I of Project Noah. I.e., The Company = Vector, The Galactic Federation, etc. It should have stuck with the civil war aspect, but instead, went with "space ghosts". XCX then picked up on a cooler narrative of a real honest set of aliens deciding to frick humanity and losing Earth.

You're smoking crack, PCP, and wiener. This game is dogshit. It has THE worst combat system in any jrpg. It's shallower than Dragon Quest, and every action takes 10x as long. The overrated story happens 99% offscreen, in lore. Holy frick you have bad taste.
Correction: it has the worst non-RPGMaker JRPG combat. Omori and Demons Roots somehow managed to be even worse. SEQUEL Blight is around the same level of shit as Xenogears.

yeah but SO2 isn't a good game. the combat is enjoyable, but everything else is shit, as is par for the series.
