There is a regular zoom-in when free aiming, but lock-on inexplicably zooms the camera in way more, but yet is completely worthless since enemies just stay behind cover. Even when an enemy is right on top of you, half the time, the lock-on will twist you to an enemy fifty feet away instead of the enemy right on top of you. Free aiming and just popping headshots completely trivializes the combat.

If you look closely 1/3rd of the points are repeated points from earlier and another 1/3rd simply are not a thing in the game. Only 1 or 2 things he says have any actual merit to them.

I've always regarded it as a great game and with the complete edition I think it's the best Rockstar has ever put out next to the first Red Dead. Now I appreciate it more because Rockstar has gone to shit and they will never produce anything good ever again.
That said, I don't really like open world games so after I'm done with the story and the side content that's worth it I just stop playing. I don't frick around the map too much.

This game absolutely blew my mind back in 2008. Mainly because of the euphoria system and vehicle degredation. Was just such cool tech I had never seen in xbox titles.
It was better than V. It's really just that simple.

Most of the people who gave GTA4 a lot of shit didn't like it because it wasn't San Andreas. The game does have some legitimate weaknesses but when you actively look for reasons half of them are just due to them being used to San Andreas. Fricking redditors would call GTA4 dogshit because they "didn't know where everything was" but they could find any street in San Andreas without a map.
Replaying this nor for the first time in like 10+ years and realizing how fricking awful the writing in V is. Like jesus christ how did it get so fricking bad. Trevor just should not exist.

GTA V is fun as frick and makes me laugh my ass off, especially Lamar. I couldn't give less of a shit that GTA IV has a better story because GTA V is more fun to play

Each GTA III game added more gameplay features and diverse environments.
GTA IV rolled back on that to make a much more narrative centric game.

Gay Tony's the best game out of IV and the DLC.
It's IV with all the fat cut out, every mission has a memorable set piece, and things that should have been in the base game like parachutes, actual color in the environments, and a scoring system for the missions.
Tony's portrayed as a histrionic drug addict that constantly fricks himself over because of his bad decisions if you were worried about the game making him into a mary sue because he's gay.

Almost everybody loved the main game when it came out - everyone just hated the forced social garbage. Same in V.

GTAIV had to compete with SA which was a tough act to follow and represented a shift in the franchise plus the medium at large that mellowed out over a decade ago.
