Why hasn't Flygon ever gotten anything?

Why hasn't Flygon ever gotten anything? No Mega, no gigantamax, no regional form, no paradox, no hisui form, nothing. Could it be that the little Antlion is a myth and that it was never as important or iconic as we had believed?

It's just an unremarkable midgame mon. It's like asking why Zebstrika has never gotten anything.

      >Zebstrika
Mentioning Haxorus line would be more accurate in this situation.

This motherfricker evolves at level 45, you should be headed to the 8th gym by that point. You would think that it would be treated better but you're right.

It has been confirmed Flygon was meant to get a Mega but didn’t due to artists block.

Which is really laughable considering so many Mega designs have zero inspiration behind them. Look at Mega Aerodactyl, Venusaur or Blastoise and tell me there was any concept there beside “add a lot of [stuff]”

    >No Mega,
they flat out explained it was due to the Artist block
    >no gigantamax,
Only KANTOOOOOOOOOOO, Garbodor for some reason, and Galar got those.
    >no regional form, no paradox, no hisui form
those are lame and don't help the original

Melmetal (a gen 7 Pokemon) also got a Gmax form

It's an ok mon that immediately got overshadowed in the very next gen after by Garchomp. Ironically it probably would have gotten better support if it had been the one bug/dragon in the series.

It was still excellent in Gen 4, the one that cucked it was Landorus in Gen 5. Flygongays don't play the game at all

It got outshadowed the same gen with Salamence

It got to exist in a recent game, that's plenty. Reminder that the Pokemon themselves are gimmicks

The only way to fix it would be giving it Quiver Dance and an -ilate ability to abuse Boomburst

Just make it Bug/Dragon already with an ability that gives it have STAB ground type moves.

Bug dragon is one of the worst type combos in the series

        >Bug/Dragon
        >one of the worst type combos in the series

        >Offensively
-deals 2x to: Dragon, Grass, Dark, Psychic
        -deals neutral: 12/18 types
-resisted by: only Steel and Fairy (it learns fire attacks)

        >Defensively
-resists: Fighting, Ground, Water, Electric (this is objectively good)
        -neutral: 8/18 types
-weak to: Flying, Rock, Ice, Dragon, Fairy

It's outright better than Dragon/Ground defensively. Resists the hardest hitting attack types. Weak to mostly middling offensive types. Deals neutral damage to 12/18 types. It's very comparable to Dragon/Ice if not better.

That would be a good idea for a regional, though the original Flygon would still suck.

Bug dragon is one of the worst type combos in the series

There's more to a a pokemon than type. if if got good moves and abiliy it could work.

      >Garbodor for some reason
      Gen 5 gets Kanto-lite treatment.

Considering Unova was referred to as Masuda's "magnum opus", Unovan Pokemon are among the strongest in the franchise, got to have an entire game to themselves, had the highest survival rate during the SwSh Dexit, and their Legends starter became one of the strongest Pokemon in the franchise, being "Kanto-lite" worked out pretty well for Unova.

Please understand, sir. Game Freak is just a small Indian mobile game company. We can't afford to hire more than one artist at a time, or else this entire operation would go breasts up overnight. If Sugimori gets artist's block, then we just have to make do and scribble out the rest of concept art on napkin paper with Olive Garden crayons until he snaps out of it.
