it depends on the kinda VR you use bruv, why use something your neck can't carry ffs. i am seeing alot on CT where shit are being worn, boy Nissan launched a blindspot VR and htc vive flow are so sleek so why stress the vital organs.
>no games
then howcome I haven't run out of things to play?
>heavy >get tired
what a bunch of babies
Price and space.
most games can be played in seated mode
The tech hasn't meaningfully evolved past strapping a smartphone to your face and holding a pair of wiimotes. VR isn't going to be worth it for at least another 50 years.
the problem is the space between your ears
It's expensive, it's uncomfortable, it doesn't work for all people, and the variety of gameplay is pretty limited. Virtualboy 3.0 is still virtulaboy
>variety of gameplay is pretty limited
what a load of shit
how many vr games have you played?
I played Half-Life Alyx today for the first time. That shit is CRAZY. I couldn't believe that I'd been playing for less than two hours, it felt like I was in there for ages. The hand tracking felt so responsive and natural that I was freaking out a little bit. I keep hearing that Alyx is the only real AAA experience for VR right now, with Boneworks being like a budget version of the same mechanics.
Sucks that there aren't more high fidelity VR projects on the market, but the hardware just isn't mainstream enough yet I guess.
I really liked star wars tales from galaxy's edge
Zuck killed it.
He sold his headsets at a massive loss and drove everyone making low end headsets out of business hoping it would lead to a future where everyone wears headsets all the time. Zuck never cared about gaming, he was using it as a means to an end and poorgays ate it up and defend it to this day.
Right now when people think of VR they think of that image of Zuck in front of the Eiffel tower.
>Right now when people think of VR they think of
the average person is a moron and so are you if you think they are right
so far I really enjoyed
hl alyx
valve's the lab
star wars tales from galaxy's edge
moss 1 and moss 2
vader immortal 1,2,3
resident evil 4
onward
blade and sorcery
battle talent (not amazing, but pretty neat)
crisis vrgade 2 reloaded
the climb 2
bonelab
espire 2
tetris effect and rez
secret of retropolis 1 and 2
creed
lucky's tale + ven vr adventure (they're about on par with the average playstation 1 platformer, but shows the potential when a mario or DK game is made for VR eventually)
medal of honor even though it has some big problems, it still tried some neat things
walking dead
cities vr is also neat, though obviously not as good as the PC version right now, but if they keep improving it for Quest 3 and beyond, then it'll be great
say what you want about zuck but he's built a nice little vr kingdom
the only real game on this list is half-life alyx and im not buying an expensive piece of equipment no other game uses
literally no AAA company makes games for VR and even for valve this was a one and done kind of deal because they know its simply not profitable
the requirements are too high, you need an expensive pc, an expensive piec of hardware, lots of space to use said hardware and then software to actually play something with it (which as i stated is basically only half-life alyx)
>most games can be played in seated mode
Enjoy routinely losing controller connection and also getting fricked over by the devs adding all sorts of items you're meant to move around to get (Half-Life Alyx is full of upgrade resin that you can't find or pick up while seated).
My phone was 150$ and it was the best phone in the market in 2019. I spent 18 hours a day on my phone. Why the frick would I pay 350$ MINIMUM for a gimmick tool that I'd play once a month?
It was on Christmas sale. It's a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, top tier phone for 2019, but not necessarily cream of the crop.
mobile phones are a fad, they'll never take off, who would pay $4000 for a brick that can only do a 30min call?
https://www.practicallynetworked.com/history-of-the-cell-phone/
I never said VR is a fraud, just that it isn't worth buying right now, much like that 4k$ phone wasn't worth it either
It's worth it if you already have a pc and start with a quest tier headset. It's not exactly worth it to build one specifically UNLESS you already tried standalone and thirst for more. If not then yeah not gonna be worth it. That's why the quest works so well as a litmus test for individuals. Low cost if entry, can recoup most back on resell if not for you. I was immediately hooked but I was already bored with traditional gayming
mobile phones are a fad, they'll never take off, who would pay $4000 for a brick that can only do a 30min call?
https://www.practicallynetworked.com/history-of-the-cell-phone/
>Who the frick buys a phone outright?
I do, because it's cheaper to get the phone and prepaid credit
rather than pay $50 a month for "services" you don't need for 2 years
if you wanna cook your brain using all the unlimited calls, then go ahead lol
it's not a good deal
no, I use a computer for work
if I had to call, I'd use a landline
It's such a shame poorgays will never get to experience what VR can offer. The immersion is simply unbelievable in VR. It's nothing comparable to flat gaming. Once you experience it there's no coming back to flat gaming because it just feels fake and cheap.
>never get to experience what VR can offer.
they will in 5-10 years when every headset is cheap and good enough
>It's nothing comparable to flat gaming. Once you experience it there's no coming back to flat gaming because it just feels fake and cheap.
very true
in fact I think I will try to get the mario 64 port to run on the quest 2, then the zelda 64 one
You didn't even contest the space issue. I'm not some rich american who lives in a house with large square box rooms which VR is designed to work in.
I got a VR years ago, had to return it because even though this room only has a few bookcases on the walls and nothing else in it other than the computer it constantly said "play space too small" >Just put it in a bigger room
All the bigger rooms have shit like tables in that get in the way. No, you can't just "move the tables" either because there's nowhere to move them to.
All of the people doing hardware aren't very good with building up the software. Since it's not a practical device it needed a console-like approach where the hardware vendor also produces games. Meta got the closest but they're completely incompetent at the entire video game thing.
Meta meta meta, can we rent their devices for gaming like why do i need to pay so much for a lifestyle i can't afford, i am a fricking Uber driver fgs.
Meta is pants on head moronic, all they had to do is have multiple studios making $10mm-20mm games and having a 2 month release schedule drip feed of games. Most of those games would've been profitable, it would've kept interest on the platform, and allowed for more experiments in the space.
They are disgustingly inept producers. Somehow after buying up every modestly successful small studio, they managed to have fewer games than before they bought the fricking studios because they keep either pulling the plug on multiplayer servers or driving the games to ruin.
Meanwhile the output of all of the studios they own has plummeted because of mismanagement.
I don't know how they fricked it up, all they had to do was say "we expect a new game every 18 months, this is your budget and we expect a compelling prototype of your core gameplay mechanic in 6 months"
Because they have no idea how to make a fun game. Reminder that their biggest game project was fricking Medal of Honor, one of the worst VR games I've ever touched.
The tech hasn't meaningfully evolved past strapping a smartphone to your face and holding a pair of wiimotes. VR isn't going to be worth it for at least another 50 years.
I think it's unlikely that VR will take 50 years to become mainstream, VR headsets are getting lighter, more comfortable, and more affordable, plus there is a growing library of great VR content
Based Chad, It's even more interesting that they are currently used to study and carry out medical surgeries as well as do excellent rendering of synchronised motion effects from cars.
He's a clueless brainlet homosexual
how would anyone think VR will take 50yrs before gaining mainstream adoption when you already have a company as big as Apple joining the party and launching their own product?
They're practically working with lots of top auto companies for that reason
audi, volks, hyundai, porche to name the few I remember
And Meta has BMW, also for in-car VR, guess which one will be bigger
I think in-car VR is even bigger than we realize. Being able to attend virtual meetings and even team up and battle other players while cruising is something I won't pass up on.
It's potential goes beyond what we can see now, imagine joining virtual meetings or taking students on excursion to diff planets while using it.
It's a whole new level of immersive awesomeness, tbh
I think the fact that it helps to reduce motion sickness is one of the main selling point, I have friends who don't go on long road trips because they get motion sick the entire time
You're right about that, VR is not so far away from mass adoption and innovation in durability and variety is picking up. I even came across a platform that integrates VR experience for backseat passengers on road trips for entertainment.
Yeah, it's like creating epic adventures for passengers, letting them journey to new places, absorb diverse cultures, or just chillax and watch a flick while cruising in the back of a ride.

Yeah, it's like creating epic adventures for passengers, letting them journey to new places, absorb diverse cultures, or just chillax and watch a flick while cruising in the back of a ride
It's not like a smartphone strapped to you face at all. There is a separate lens for each eye which gives a sense of depth and actually makes the game feel like an immersive 3d environment. Much more than flat games.
an index headset with its controllers and a game running at a steady 120+fps is in another dimension than a shitty phone VR headset with wiimotes
its about as its real as VR can possibly ever get. theres no chance in hell theres going to be any kind of neuralink VR thing where you plug you brain into a computer within your lifetime. you arent getting a cool cyberpunk dystopia. this is it. the jank is gone with an index and good framerate. stop living in the past or dreaming of the future, you're wasting your time
I've used everything from the cheapest shit to an Index. It's still nowhere near what I'd consider to be the absolute baseline in terms of being passable for anything VR would be fun to use.
16k per eye, minimum. 120 fov, minimum. Headset dimensions smaller than bigscreen, minimum.
Once all of these basic requirements are met, VR hardware will finally be at the starting line. The controllers are already about as good as you can get with current dogshit solutions. Hardware capable of driving what is essentially 32k resolution? Yeah, that's not coming any time soon. Software worth playing? Yeah, that's never coming. VR is a waste of time.
So true dude. Until we get full dive SAO style VR then why even bother. Also would need like good AAA games coming every day for it to be worth it.
Oh yeah and magic drugs for motion sickness as well, and it needs to only weight 55grams and not one more. Oh yeah and it also need one billion players at least otherwise I'm not playing.

Literally everything I mentioned is doable within the next few decades. Keep on acting like the sub 480p resolution of the Index is totally lifelike and carrying around a kilo of bulk on your head feels great. Enjoy spending 120 bucks to replace that proprietary cable when it fails because it was designed wrong on purpose, too.

The headset I got last weekend and it uses a USB C cable, and to link it up with a computer you just need a router to do it over wi-fi.
Why are bobos giving opinion on VR when they haven't even tried it out?
You've never seen this pic?
Lizard boy in the metaverse
Hyundai is so underrated, they make really good cars and have that Japanese durability
They mentioned something about using VR headset to allow passengers test drive cars from the comfort of their homes before choosing which one to buy
I think that will be really based
VR and cars are forming up an interesting bromance, the idea of the motoverse is shaping up nicely
what do you think of brand agnoticism, these VR boys are limited in that aspect something no project haven't done until holoride which are building such brought it to the limelight.
Banks be like gimme $$$, we're just a cash grab, no love for us regular folks.

I used to feel that vibe until I stumbled JungleChase VR and Pixel Remaster

Boneworks really isn't like Alyx at all. It's very jank and terribly built but it has a lot more ambition with what it tries to do with physics. Even though I personally think it fails and it isn't any fun at all.
If you're looking for another VR FPS that feels polished and has some production values, try Vertigo 2.
>Sucks that there aren't more high fidelity VR projects on the market, but the hardware just isn't mainstream enough yet I guess.
get subnautica with the VR improvement and hand tracking mod. Or any of the RE engine (RE2r, 3r, 4r, 7, 8) games with REFramework mod. If having hands is a must have to you
Enthusiasts alone are doing gods work jury rigging flatties into it.
Friend of mine played for 3 hours then put off the googles and tried to jedi force pull a glass of water into his hand then realized that it doesnt work that way in rl.
Next day he tells me that after another 3h session he once tried to lift his girl from the couch onto his lap, but he couldnt because people weight something in rl (and hes noodle armed)
Its both hilarious and interesting how vr games can frick with your mind.
I still remember watching some guy 3d modeling hair in some vrchat-like game, like a hairdresser he stood there and worked on another characters hair, then swoop, switched bodies, looked into the mirror as the customer and checked the hair, then he froze again and switched back into the hairdressers body, shit was so weird yet fun to watch. What an interesting way to sculpt hair

I can't ever tell if these cult-like replies are real or just anons trolling. I'd assume they are trolling but during the peak VR cope era VRgays were really posting shit like this.
90% of positive opinions of modern video gaming can be safely disregarded, as Ganker has been a quite popular target for companies in the recent years.
Nig when I was starting in VR I couldn't even tell if my hands are real when I woke up at night. You think those stories are made up? VR messes with your head when you're just starting out. A couple of months in you get used to it, that's about when motion sickness went away for me. It's a steep difficulty curve to get into VR, I'm not surprised most gaymers got filtered
Anon here, that short post game immersion was a thing my buddy did experience and I do think that vr is interesting but a) not enough games b) too friggin expensive. Even the vr set said buddy played with was borrowed
I still observe where the tech is going but my biggest fear is buying one and then stop playing with it after 2 months. And Im a 3d modeler, i could even make content for it
The shill paranoia is understandable since it is a regular thing on Ganker
i got it because i knew flight and race sims would never get boring, and there will always be new games in the future no matter how few and far between
between drifting cars with a ffb week and flying and actually realistically trimming planes with a ffb joystick + trim wheel and trim knob and 3 levers of throttle for throttle/rpm/mixture i will never regret getting VR and never forget about it completely
which one you using? which one should I get if i'm on a budget?
I looked at the g29 but it seems expensive for a shitty piece of plastic

its good quality where it counts, youll see. the wheel feels like leather, im not sure if its real leather and the paddle shifters are steel and they feel far better quality than the ones my actual fricking car has

Any opinions on the t150rs? I'm not a racing fan so I don't really want to spend 300+ in a peripheral I might only use a few times if I don't like it

>Any opinions on the t150rs?
yeah, it doesnt have a clutch pedal, frick that
you need to get the g29/g920, get the logitech H shifter, and get dirt rally 2.0. and go here
https://www.briankoponen.com/dirt-rally-20-logitech-g29-g920-settings/
and copy his ffb settings into the game
dont worry about the FFB lut file generation thing, ive done it before and the frequency response or whatever was nearly totally perfect in the first place so it barely changes anything, just copy the other settings and itl feel great and youll be drifting and flying through dirt tracks in no time
all the shakiness you see in this webm doesnt exist in game, its just from my head moving and because the framerate is lower in the video than in VR for some reason
i stayed up all night drinking smoking and playing superhot. in the morning i went outside and i got confused as i was standing still and birds were still moving. this was not the VR version
I only got mine Sunday. I've had a couple of situations already where I had to leave the custom area I've set up, with the headset camera on and I had to consciously think that I WASN'T about to walk into a barrier. And when playing with H3VR I've had to resist the urge more than once to place one of the controllers on the (non existent) counter.
vr ping pong is fricking intense
i wouldnt recommend it without an index at 144fps
within 5 minutes i smashed my controller against my dresser busting it open and the thumbstick broke out of place
i fixed it by jamming it apart more with a butter knife then shoving it all back together
all in the span of like 45 seconds
its still like new

Hahaha
I'm in a fairly small room for my PC and VR, I've banged my hand against the wall a couple of times. I'm waiting for something more serious to happen.
Meanwhile I'm trying to induce motion sickness with 6DOF shooters.
Do Americans actually go into debt? I thought the joke about them maxing out credit cards was that they were hitting daily limits, but apparently they're literally just buying it on credit?
Its not. A lot of Americans are in forever debt because they have been tricked into thinking college is the only way to get a job and college costs are insanely high, so they go into debt
Americans also have a horrible healthcare system. The treatment itself is fine but unless you have buckets of cash, you are going to go into debt. Most health insurance, if you can afford it, will find a way to not pay for your treatment. Despite that being the reason you got health insurance in the first place. A single half day visit to an ER can easily run you $10k, half of which you'll have to pay for if you get lucky and your insurance isn't shit.
Not really. Americans are just stupid. Literally every credit card issuer has an option to autopay for your entire statement balance which will avoid any interest. If you pay the damn balance you don't go into debt and actually make a little money from credit cards.
What first world country isn't drowning their citizens in debt slavery?
Credit cards are actually predatory. They encourage you to pay a small portion of it back while the rest is interested debt
Pre 08 sure. Even by then the insta improved by mail with cards ready to go was dead. It now takes work and high level of stupidity to get approved and drown yourself in debt.
What’s worse is when The Americans train up a little Timmy to get a financial degree, blackhat a foreign security system, to pay off their debt?? >Video games
I dont understand why so many people are into credit cards. Just fricking wait for your job to pay you and then spend your money. It's not that hard.
Relying only on money that you're currently have also teaches you to be more responsible since you always know how much you're allowed to spend.
>you are living paycheck to paycheck, so you don't have any wiggle room for cash >something you need to use to work or live gets broken: car breaks down, drunk driver strikes your car, bike gets stolen, you get sick, or whatever >you need to replace that broken needed object but can't afford it right now, not replacing it now will cost you even more since you'll lose your job >you know have to go into debt now
>Relying only on money that you're currently have also teaches you to be more responsible since you always know how much you're allowed to spend.
Thats the basic b***h approach.
Advanced thinking is realizing you're going to buy X each month. May as well charge it to credit and pay it back before interest kicks in. Any card worth a damn will have extra bonuses which amounts to free money for you.
Otherwise the horror stories you hear tend to be more along
>you are living paycheck to paycheck, so you don't have any wiggle room for cash >something you need to use to work or live gets broken: car breaks down, drunk driver strikes your car, bike gets stolen, you get sick, or whatever >you need to replace that broken needed object but can't afford it right now, not replacing it now will cost you even more since you'll lose your job >you know have to go into debt now
Because at the end of the day, you're just strapping an ultrawide monitor to your face and using laggy wii-motes to pretend you are interacting inside the video game.
Its so frustrating too. I've played around with VR projects in unreal and the shit you can do with modern mid ranged hardware is incredible but the market is so tiny now that no one touches it.
You can't even buy a newly produced PCVR headset for less than $500 and the Pico 4 doesn't even have native video input like the Pico 3 had so you're going to get a shitty compressed image like with the quest 2.
>the Pico 4 doesn't even have native video input like the Pico 3 had
I find that very frustrating on all standalone headsets. Wireless is very nice don't get me wrong, but sometimes you're willing to sacrifice the freedom from wires for better fidelity or just longer play times. But none of the standalone headsets, other than the pico 3, let you do native display or plug the headset into AC power properly.
I was holding my breath for the pico 4 link to eventually be announced but I caved in and got a normal p4 instead a few weeks ago.
I don't really regret it because it's such a cheap headset and when you can run games at super high res and with godlike setting in virtual desktop, it almost feels like native. Except when there's a bunch of grass or trees on screen and you can see some compression artifacts lol. 99% of the time you don't notice it though
Zucc wanted to he the next steve jobs. Jobs didn't invent smartphones, but he saw the potential in an up and coming technology and put the full weight of a big tech company behind it, developing and polishing it to a point where it was appealing to the average consumer. I think zucc wanted to do the same with VR, but vastly underestimated how much development VR needed before it would be palatable to normalgays. Well personally I don't think VR ever will be, but AR will eventually.
AR are the new normal besides i find them so fricking based, which VR have you used chad? I'm thinking of exploring these merge between metaverse projects, VR, and cars. Stumbled on Audi, Bmw, and Nissan of recent building the future, and holoride and Meta are milking these niches.
I’ve had my vive since 2017. I think I’ve used it for a total of 20 hours since then. Novelty wore off almost immediately. VR porn was the main reason for getting it, but there is absolutely no good VR porn. Not even a single one. And even if you found something, then you have to go on a fricking adventure to find a program that can properly play the video in VR. It’s just so much work.
Everyone is clearly on their ten toes in the VR markets and ever since i saw the Prince of Edinburgh bringing in his A-game when he wore the XR Elite of htcvive, boy i knew the game was on fr.
Fast forward to now, and holoride brand agnoticism is fricking killing it and Europe, Austria, and Germany and soon Asians won't be exempted.
I'm scared to buy it due to motion sickness from bad FOV, low Hz monitors and other factors.
I easily get motion sickness and nausea from games with bad FOV, weird headbobbing mechanics, etc.
I also hate absolutely all headphones, they are all too uncomfortable to be wearing for long periods, so imagine a VR headset + headphones, frick no.
VR is never going to succeed without removing weight and the uncomfortable parts and things that cause motion sickness.
In short, it's never going to happen because most developers are too moronic to even know what FOV is.
>the uncomfortable parts and things that cause motion sickness.
That's not something you can fix with hardware though. Everyone gets some degree of motion sickness but it goes a way after a week of daily VR use or so.
You can get over it. When i first stepped into vr i only could do it 20 minutes at a time, years later i'm doing all nighters in vrchat while sipping booze.
fricking immersive, p2e at this beauty as a student who needs more money, before now i was stuck with stoopid ass 2d games until i played Cosmic chase on Porsche experience center in LA and got immersed in holoride experiences which the retrofit device is now on rent.
> so imagine a VR headset + headphones, frick no.
thats why there arent headphones, theres speakers, on the index they're just floating an inch and a half from your ears and the sound quality is incredible and it doesnt insulate any heat on your head at all
The headset itself is 10x more uncomfortable than headphones. The speakers are ultimately just fricking annoying, they don't sound any better than half-decent headphones, and they leak sound like crazy so you can't watch porn with anyone else in the house.
with an index? not at all unless you're talking about trying to lay down with it on
maybe your head is shaped weird, the pressure from the headset is so perfectly distributed across the whole padded areas if you adjust and put it on correctly
>The headset itself is 10x more uncomfortable than headphones
and the headphones literally dont even touch you so no shit if somethings going to be uncomfortable its whats actually touching you
>The speakers are ultimately just fricking annoying, they don't sound any better than half-decent headphones
and no they dont >and they leak sound like crazy so you can't watch porn with anyone else in the house.
not at all, pretty sure you're just making shit up because you're a shitposter who doesnt enjoy anything, its dumbfounding how different your supposed experience is from mine, its like you're not talking about the same headset,
i didnt expect your comment to become increasingly moronic forcing me to reply more jesus christ
Man, this VRchat troony sure is dumb as shit.
My head is shaped fine. The Index is just a fricking heavy brick. You're moronic if you think the audio quality is as good as either decent speakers or decent headphones, they're slightly better than the Vive's DAS at best, and they leak sound far worse than any open ear headphones, and I've got some of the worst performing models on the market.
i dont play vrchat homosexual
yeah its heavy but its weight is perfectly distributed and its fine if you're not a pencil necked b***h or staring up or down for long periods of time >You're moronic if you think the audio quality is as good as either decent speakers or decent headphones
the bottom of low ends lacks obviously because its so far from your ear but other than that its very good. i have bookshelf speakers coupled with a polk audio subwoofer with an adjustable low pass filter, HD 700s and a 600 ohm headphone amplifier
>The headset itself is 10x more uncomfortable than headphones
and the headphones literally dont even touch you so no shit if somethings going to be uncomfortable its whats actually touching you
>The speakers are ultimately just fricking annoying, they don't sound any better than half-decent headphones

Get G2, headphones are hovering near your ear, it's as comfortable as no headphones at all.
And VR devs are kinda forced to figure out what FOV is.
But overall I'd say it's another kind of motion sick potential.
FOV in vr isn't really the same as FOV in flat games. In a flat game your field of view is stretched across your whole monitor which is why it fricks with you when it's too low. In VR field of view is basically how big the "holes" you're seeing the VR world through are. A lower FOV just means less peripheral vision.
no games, prices(over 1k for something good), space and its just a fricking monitor strap to your head, people though will be something like in Matrix/Play one etc, now just a fricking TV in your eyes
yeah, about that, nobody going to drop 3.5k to play fricking candy crash, VR its dead industry, the tech its not there yet, especially for high graphic games, so see you in 2 decades
apple vision pro isn't aimed at gamers, it's aimed at people who want to replace their laptop before everyone else does in 10-20 years
it may not even get candy crush
>especially for high graphic games
when it's about ps4 level graphics, it's good enough, currently standalone VR is PS2/PS3 level and the Quest 3 is 2x stronger than the Quest 2 so we'll see what devs do with it in a month's time
and most games dont need high end graphics
tetris effect and rez were great in VR
>we'll see what devs do with it in a month's time
Probably not much since Meta will probably mandate all new games still support Quest 2 for at least another year.
>Meta will probably mandate all new games still support Quest 2 for at least another year.
you know games can use different render settings on different platforms right?
and it's not hard for devs to design a game where it has a limit of 30 free roaming npcs on quest 2, but 60 on quest 3, or similar things
It’ll still be limited with complexity by the Quest 2. There’s only so much you can do in terms of scaling up.

shit dev at fault
no reason they have to be removed from pc version
they could still render billboard trees on quest and still have players partially obscured by foliage if they dont want quest players having a visibility advantage
though it's a really dumb idea to let PC vs VR because the control styles are totally different and PC has an advantage by automatic reloading, and being able to do crazier things with the camera without getting sick while VR is just limited to your physical body
dumb dev issue
btw the devs got bought by meta and they're doing onward 2 for quest 3
Meta like building on others pathway, kek, good for them but when it comes to metaverse-in-car tech, the king of the roads Audi made a good partnership with holoride on it
Too many underpowered mobile headsets. with exclusives that would do better on PC.
Also PSVR exclusives on a system that
undersold.
Not to talk about most vr controllers being unusable on other headsets. making transitioning to better headset more expensive.
your point? consoles had a 40 year headstart, of course the audience is bigger, and VR still has room to grow, ataris weren't massively popular like gaming is today either
you still can't play starfield on playstation or switch, mario can't be played on playstation or xbox, gran turismo can't be played on xbox or switch, but you aren't crying about market fragmentation there because you're a moron
>you aren't crying about market fragmentation there because you're a moron
All of those fragmented markets have an install base of at least 100m, meanwhile the biggest VR market is Quest with only like 12m
Too bad normies are too moronic to install even the simplest drag and drop mods. so they don't get enough attention
Not that they know where too look for mods in first place.
It's the only VR title I've played with any level of promise. Well, I liked pistol whip too, but the music in that was awful and it doesn't seem like the mod stuff has gotten very far.
H3 re-balanced by someone who isn't a gibbering moron like Anton could be a fairly fun arcade title. I'm not really holding out any hope at this point, but compared to everything else? It at least has a non-zero possibility of eventually being a good game.
Heck yeah. I got a buddy of mine to play with me so we're 2 in VR and then let randos in.
We use in-game voice chat to talk and honestly the community is really receptive. We get people to chat (via text mostly) a ton and it reminds me of the golden multiplayer days of 2006-2012
Glad to hear that, anon. Making the mod compatible with unmodded servers was a real nail-biter so i'm always relieved to hear people enjoy it.
Forgot to mention this in the previous post btw: Some TF2 modders are interested in the old VR mod for the leaked TF2 code. I'm too busy to work on it atm, but you should look out for the real TF2 in VR in a couple of months if you're interested.
RE4VR is great, but I hope some autist figures out a way to put the uncensored lines back in and use the RE4HD textures, it would be amazing
it's just an unreal game on android, how hard can it be to mod?
decompress the apk, find the packages for textures and things, replace contents and repackage
It's a b***h to set up and from what I've seen from the available libraries not worth it.
PSVR2 seems cool on a technical level, apparently you just plug in a single usb-c cable ... but you are then of course restricted to PS5 games (meme goes here).
its taken off enough to be up to gen 3 in hardware improvements. It has tons of software opportunities with the modding scene alone
most importantly, it has taken off enough to generate infinite troony seethe on Ganker trying to consistently tear it down as a failure. If it actually were a failure there would be next to no mention of it on here
VRlets have to be the most pathetic creatures in existence kek
>gen 3
we're still in the atari days of vr, gen 4 is when nintendo will step in, when the average headset is PS4 lvl gfx for $200, and it will be the NES moment for vr
>image
i don't get it. given the price i'm assuming he bought the upcoming apple thing but did he have literally 0 dollars in his account before? and then overdrafted? or is he using a credit card for this purchase only? why couldn't the last panel just show a part of his transaction history instead?
There's a humble bundle for racing Sims for 13$. Most of them have vr. Risk of rain 2 is a good vr mod. The resident evils are good vr mods both of those easy to do mods. Stay away from skyrim and fallout 4 till you got a good handle on mods. Those are a headache to mod. Follow flat2vr on Twitter or their discord for the latest mods. I already forget half of em. Payday 2 isn't bad and usually on sale for 1$. Compound if you like retro style shooters, I don't think it ever goes on sale tho. Not many levels but if you're a completionists with achievements you might like it. Theres some new mod out for playing mame light gun games in 3d, might be worth a try. Haven't tried myself differnt from emu vr (it's more arcade cabinet games than just retro)
Obviously contractors is the cod and halon of vr. Infinite mod maps. I hate respawn games but it's a must play. Breachers is the rainbow 6 of vr (but only has 3 maps) population one is free now (quest version is free but it's crossbuy so you get pc version for free as well after) but to many new players these days so it's only complete newbs and prostreamers now so it's really once sided these days.
If you want to pirate quest 2 stuff there's a tool some redditors made that makes it super convenient. There's some quest 2 ports I play instead of their pcvr version because desoite the graphics being worse it doesn't get compressed and has better latency than my shit wifi.
For pcvr I love VTOL even though I'm not that into flight sims, I just find it very comfy, Into the Radius is a fantastic S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-esque game (it's more similar to Roadside Picnic in actuality), and I also love Jet Island, only vr game to ever make me lose my balance.
So now that the dust has settle can we all say that VR was just a gammick? I remember all the VRgays screaming and coping that VR will revolutionize gaming and it will be the future of gaming. I remember all the schizo meme template they made trying to justify their buyers remorse. Kinda funny to think back on and how it's so so quite now.
I can't even manage that. I joined a server once and stayed for probably less than a minute in a corner of the map where there was no one and then heard some voices and disconnected.
You can also just join "private instance" and not have to worry about it

Fuk Devs, Pay Modders
The trending world tabs variety box and something labs one that they recommend usually suck. The more interesting worlds are usually in the new and maybe updated maps. Everyday I jump in and check some new stuff out in those tabs. People stick to what they know which is why those other tabs kinda suck
I only use it to hang out with friends, playing vrchat with randoms is the equivalent of joining a discord full of 10 year olds, except you can't just tab out and back in quickly when you get bored of the autism.
I got a pico 4 with prescription lenses for PCVR, might get the quest 3 when it's out if it's good enough, but so far watching films in a virtual cinema is pretty gud, also I played the half life 2 VR mod and that's what really blew me away. Might try no man's sky VR soon.
It's perfectly fine as a budget entry point.
Quest 2 quality is not much better if you are using a link cable for PCVR since it compresses the image.
You just have to live with the knowlage that somebody gooned at least once while wearing it if you buy used.
If buying used, expect to have to replace joysticks due to stick drift. It's cheap but a bit of a headache to do (only takes an hour or 2 and about 12$)
Right now? Pico4. 2160x2160 (same as reverb g2) but the pancake lenses are waaaaay better
In 2 months maybe Quest 3. Advantage of waiting for quest 3 is that it will have a frickton of support since it will be popular.
For the P4, you should be able to get away with headset price + 100$ for a wifi6 router and a face mask replacement. For another 60$ you can get a 10000mAh battery pack which lets you play PCVR for about 4-5hrs total.
Imagine getting a $1000 graphics card and a $1000 VR headset because you unironically believed VR was the future of the industry. What a loser right hahaha...
>VR was the future of the industry.
it is and it'll take you decades to realise you were wrong
Also just remembered the full pt "game" that was only available on like Japanese ps5 launch units or something had a full vr port thats free. The link is on beardobanjos recent video on it
it was always a demo, and really it's not doing or trying anything too special
it just looked good at the time because of PBR textures and lighting, which are now standard in everything
Also just remembered the full pt "game" that was only available on like Japanese ps5 launch units or something had a full vr port thats free. The link is on beardobanjos recent video on it
It's such a shame poorgays will never get to experience what VR can offer. The immersion is simply unbelievable in VR. It's nothing comparable to flat gaming. Once you experience it there's no coming back to flat gaming because it just feels fake and cheap.
Hyundai is so underrated, they make really good cars and have that Japanese durability
They mentioned something about using VR headset to allow passengers test drive cars from the comfort of their homes before choosing which one to buy
I think that will be really based
and shit can be rented, who does Tim Cook think they're milking shit is tiring fr i need a fricking break from such flimsy lifestyle ffs.
If i can get a retrofit device courtesy of holoride on rent for 29 pounds boy i'm balls deep on such besides i can subtly introduce it into my Uber ride biz and give it to my kids to game on after the day's work with over 15 games innit
Person who actually owns a headset here >It's treated as a replacement for standard gaming >As an actual usable accessory for your pc it's severely immature >VR developers are dickhead spergs and charge way too much for basic shit
Yes and uniquely it's a situation with VR games that the sheer quantity of them are blown the frick out, by three games that are 2/3 free and one comes with one of the headset.
Going >UUHHERHHHHGGH MOST GAME BAD
won't change anything about the situation with VR and contributes literally fricking nothing to this conversation you moronic cum chugger.
I think that depends on the perspective you are looking at it. I've seen it used in the military so well and in the health care sector as well as in-car entertainment with Retrofit lit
you just one homosexual that hasn't made more money but keeps loosing i get it son i do but when big minds are speaking you learn and don't speak trash, i suppose yo should be smart
There's a ton of indie software, just not a lot of really big budget stuff. Have you, the man complaining about lack of software, played the HL2 VR + Episodes or Grimlord? You probably have a big backlog of decent titles, but no mindblowing big budget ones, just mods and indies. That's what's lacking, AAA. No shortage of indie or mods.
I played all of the HL2 episodes, yes. Grimlord might be cool but it's EA so I'm not exactly excited to go out of my way yo buy it with so many solid traditional games coming out of both indies and aaa alike.
What VR really needed is AA. The kind of boom pc gaming has in the late 90s that brought gsmes like half-life and thief.
Nobody needs AA now, people say they want AA and then AA actually comes out and looks like Wild Hearts or Steelrising or even Forspoken and they go ewwww this isn't AAA and shit on it
Forspoken had a massive budget that shit isn't AA. Hi-Fi Rush as I recall had a surprisingly low budget and that's the kind of game I like to see more of.
We may be seeing that soon Anon, though VR is beyond gaming. VR can now be used in Education, Agriculture, Architecture where several Architects can have a construction meeting with VR, and people that are always in transit can also hold a corporate meeting with it while on a long-distance trip.
We only saw concentrated development effort during the early days of VR when they were busy reinventing the wheel.
Current corporate atmosphere is too busy with everyone trying to be the next app store bundled with a planned obsolescence phone to actually rouse interest to the same level. I have to assume that there will be another wave of interest when Valve finally just releases their stupid next gen headset because they've been the only ones even vaguely concerned with interoperability.
Meanwhile VR is just kind of steadily marching on with modders and smaller studios/indies just adding to VR and finding out what works and what doesn't.
That's not even a good meme argument anymore because after over a decade of mishandling and sabotage people are realizing that motion controls are practically indispensable for a lot of modern games that don't spend every waking second holding your hand.
VR keep pushing more expensive luxury headsets or a shitty gimmick Android headset that is Quest.
And here i am enjoying my used Oculus rift S i got for 300$.
Also im one of the rare people who doesn't suffer from VR sickness no mater how long i play a game.
IV once spent 6 hours in VR playing some mediocre VR MMO because i wanted to see if it gets better.
Had no issues whatsoever.
>am enjoying my used Oculus rift S i got for 300$
I prefer the HTC Vive Flow cos it's budget-friendly and works with a bunch of controllers for max comfort.
Perfect for movies, shows, diving into holoride's games, and more.
>Read thread >Every VR shill are talking like linuxtards where you can't say anything bad about it
Not surprised, the only way it'll get better is if Gaben throws infinite money at it because the actual devs are out of touch neets
I got one last weekend and it's pretty neat. I can get why people don't adopt it more though, unless you're strictly going through the walled garden of the VR manufacturer's store, it's like the system requirements of a dedicated gaming PC PLUS the hardware, AND sufficient playing space for it.
Plus you can look doofy wearing it, and you get sweaty if you're at all out of shape, etc etc.
Doing shit like pic related is cool as frick though so long as you don't get motion sick easily. Luckily I'm not, I used to read books in the car and stuff as a kid.
Have you tried it in a car before? I came across a platform that gives passengers VR adventures in vehicles and is synchronized with the route and movements to prevent motion sickness.
>having to strap an extra 10 pounds to your head + headaches >almost every game is just game on pc + annoying gun loading or an hour long glorified tech demo on the quest store >to even get something that isint the latter you need to own a pc anyways plus an 80$ cord >fricking annoying with glasses or headphones >cant sit/lay down for a lot of games >needs good amount of space
index is less than 2 pounds and bigscreen beyond (which works with index base stations and controllers) weighs less than 1/3rd of a pound
of course if you have shit posture and your head is leaning forward, 2 pounds of extra weight could translate to over 20 pounds of extra weight on your actual spine
but this is fixed with basic yoga and good posture
its a >tiny monitor >2 halves of a controller with moronic button placements >facestrap+mask
i mean really these should be like 200$ max

Actually they’ve improved the inside-out tracking a lot over the years so it’ll only lose tracking if you deliberately leave it out of sight for extended time
>i mean really these should be like 200$ max
You're not paying for what it costs to make you dingbat. You're paying for all the labor that went into making it, the actual cost of making it, and to keep the people who make it continuing to improve it, + some profit. You think all software should be free just because it's some 1s and 0s? That none of the people and effort that went into making it should be compensated for? moron.
because its not a piece of shit
except the cable
but if you use VR basically at all it will probably die within the 2 year warranty and you can just keep getting new ones for free i think
>Yet
Porn scene is dead. VR is dead for another 20+ years. No AAA must have games. Shitty hardware (Fresnel lense/horrible focal cone/god rays/shit IPD sliders/motion sickness still a thing/etc). For all the billions pumped into it we couldn't even get 1 good games. I used my Quest 2 for 8 hours and never touched it again.
>Porn scene is dead
its never been better, girls like pic related doing tons of stuff recently >I used my Quest 2 for 8 hours and never touched it again.
you used a shitty headset and got a bad taste in your mouth, its all your fault
>37k in savings >Too less to invest >Too less to buy a house
Great, I will just keep it in the ~~*bank*~~ and wait for it to depreciate I fricking hate this society
It's not long now until hyper inflation starts, a block of gold will still buy you a house in 50 years, 80 billion dollars won't even buy you a muffin.
PCVR is annoying to use. It's a 5 minute setup every time, even worse if you took a couple week break. The headsets are uncomfortable and you will always fight a little sickness and a headache over time. Still no must play games for VR.
?? i type steamvr into windows search bar, grab headset and controllers and im done in 10 seconds
the frick is wrong with you people >The headsets are uncomfortable and you will always fight a little sickness and a headache over time
not for me maybe try getting it to actually fit right and stop being a b***h
actually its easier than i described because steamVR starts when you turn on a controller. so literally all you have to do is put on the headset and grab the controllers and press the power button on the controller
easily done in less than 10 seconds if you have the controllers right next to you
Actually they’ve improved the inside-out tracking a lot over the years so it’ll only lose tracking if you deliberately leave it out of sight for extended time
i last used one 10 months ago, couldnt play pavlov because it loses tracking when your hands are by your fricking sides, at least in my lighting conditions/surroundings but it was pretty well lit, who knows maybe it doesnt like my furnitures color or something
but either way at no point did it ever feel anywhere near as smooth and responsive as index controllers at 144fps
>racing is by far the best genre for vr >it can be done without vr (although much worse unless you invest into an even more expensive multi-monitor setup) >it's also fricking dead and nobody plays racing games
Wipeout Omega is PSVR 1's killer app and yet I never hear people mention it. Articles just focus on waggleshit, over and over, like it's end-all be-all purpose for VR.
I mean that beyond "I want to own a cool car but I'm priced out" rice replacement for zoomers in form of Forza, autistic racing sims and Mario Kart which funnily enough has a VR arcade cabinet, it's completely out of mainstream and out of high-budget releases.
>criticize a piece of tech >”B-but look at how far it’s come in such a short amount of time! Surely this trend should be expected to continue!”
In reality the companies bankrolling this shit because they thought it would make them trillionaires keep failing to realize those fantasies and will eventually turn off the money spigot.
The problem is that "when" relies on improvements to computing speed which haven't happened over the past decade. I paid twice as much this year as I did a decade ago for a CPU that was half as powerful. 10 years, and I've paid essentially the exact same amount of money for no progress.
This becomes a problem when you have to run very high resolutions.
Have you seen the HTC vive headset? Its lighter compared to the rest and can be worn for hours. Heck I even use them on long road trips to enjoy VR contents from holoride. Not a bad experience.
every game wants me waggling like a homosexual. i want to sit down with a controller. im honestly done buying vr games unless they let me do this. the gimmick is boring and uninteresting now
>be tech-savvy >still took me like an hour to setup and calibrate, and it still gets buggy for non-steam games
Normies already hate PC, you think they will want an add-on?
Also no games. Well there's like 5 but that's pretty pathetic considering the price and the fact Oculus has existed for a decade now.
5 is not a lot tbh, I've not had any experience with Oculus though. I only use the HTC Vista which gives over 15 different games to choose from and is also integrated with holoride for in-car VR.
I lost at a round of black jack last month and got gang banged by four men since I didn't have any money
And now I have a boyfriend with an eight inch wiener
VR is great
No games, it's an absolute pain in the ass to set up and use, no games, and it's too expensive for what it offers, which is playing no games with a fricking screen strapped to your face.
no games, have to strap heavy monitor on your head, get tired after few hours
it depends on the kinda VR you use bruv, why use something your neck can't carry ffs. i am seeing alot on CT where shit are being worn, boy Nissan launched a blindspot VR and htc vive flow are so sleek so why stress the vital organs.
htc growing their partnership base
it has taken off
you missed the boat
>no games
then howcome I haven't run out of things to play?
>heavy
>get tired
what a bunch of babies
most games can be played in seated mode
the problem is the space between your ears
>variety of gameplay is pretty limited
what a load of shit
how many vr games have you played?
I really liked star wars tales from galaxy's edge
>Right now when people think of VR they think of
the average person is a moron and so are you if you think they are right
Here's a (You) for the bait
Can you recommend some vr games? I can't tell the difference from trash and kino without actually playing the games so would love some recs
so far I really enjoyed
hl alyx
valve's the lab
star wars tales from galaxy's edge
moss 1 and moss 2
vader immortal 1,2,3
resident evil 4
onward
blade and sorcery
battle talent (not amazing, but pretty neat)
crisis vrgade 2 reloaded
the climb 2
bonelab
espire 2
tetris effect and rez
secret of retropolis 1 and 2
creed
lucky's tale + ven vr adventure (they're about on par with the average playstation 1 platformer, but shows the potential when a mario or DK game is made for VR eventually)
medal of honor even though it has some big problems, it still tried some neat things
walking dead
ah shit, I forgot jurasic world aftermath
better than alien isolation
cities vr is also neat, though obviously not as good as the PC version right now, but if they keep improving it for Quest 3 and beyond, then it'll be great
say what you want about zuck but he's built a nice little vr kingdom
Thanks a lot frens
the only real game on this list is half-life alyx and im not buying an expensive piece of equipment no other game uses
literally no AAA company makes games for VR and even for valve this was a one and done kind of deal because they know its simply not profitable
the requirements are too high, you need an expensive pc, an expensive piec of hardware, lots of space to use said hardware and then software to actually play something with it (which as i stated is basically only half-life alyx)
Cloudbreakers: Leaving Haven and Pixel Ripped
all these are great
https://sidequestvr.com/apps/gameport/0/rating
>most games can be played in seated mode
Enjoy routinely losing controller connection and also getting fricked over by the devs adding all sorts of items you're meant to move around to get (Half-Life Alyx is full of upgrade resin that you can't find or pick up while seated).
The new ones like the pico 4 are better balanced. That's the one I'm saving up for.
How weak are your neck muscles?
he probably gets tired cuz boredom
Price and space.
wdym price and space
you guys are spending +1k for phones and other silly gadgets you don't even use.
And then 300 or 500bucks it to expensive
degens
My phone was 150$ and it was the best phone in the market in 2019. I spent 18 hours a day on my phone. Why the frick would I pay 350$ MINIMUM for a gimmick tool that I'd play once a month?
you need to go to the doctor for a check up
And not just the eyes
>My phone was 150$ and it was the best phone in the market in 2019
It launched for $150 or you bought it second-hand for $150?
It was on Christmas sale. It's a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, top tier phone for 2019, but not necessarily cream of the crop.
I never said VR is a fraud, just that it isn't worth buying right now, much like that 4k$ phone wasn't worth it either
>Chinese spyware
Phones come bundled with your provider. Who the frick buys a phone outright?
Meant to say "top of the line 1k+ dollarydoo phone outright"
Isn’t it better to buy phones outright and get a sim-only contract than going for a monthly plan?
>Who the frick buys a phone outright?
I do, because it's cheaper to get the phone and prepaid credit
rather than pay $50 a month for "services" you don't need for 2 years
if you wanna cook your brain using all the unlimited calls, then go ahead lol
it's not a good deal
You don't use your phone for work?
no, I use a computer for work
if I had to call, I'd use a landline
>never get to experience what VR can offer.
they will in 5-10 years when every headset is cheap and good enough
>It's nothing comparable to flat gaming. Once you experience it there's no coming back to flat gaming because it just feels fake and cheap.
very true
in fact I think I will try to get the mario 64 port to run on the quest 2, then the zelda 64 one
Roastie frickin does that shit
You didn't even contest the space issue. I'm not some rich american who lives in a house with large square box rooms which VR is designed to work in.
I got a VR years ago, had to return it because even though this room only has a few bookcases on the walls and nothing else in it other than the computer it constantly said "play space too small"
>Just put it in a bigger room
All the bigger rooms have shit like tables in that get in the way. No, you can't just "move the tables" either because there's nowhere to move them to.
>phones
>don't use
negative iq, expected for someone who unironically spends money on a vr headset
frick it boy that ain't no excuse tbh, I can rent retrofit device from holoride for 29pounds/month for three months so they ain't no excuse for such.
I think it's unlikely that VR will take 50 years to become mainstream, VR headsets are getting lighter, more comfortable, and more affordable, plus there is a growing library of great VR content
>there is a growing library of great VR content
I think this is like why holoride teamed up with Disney, top-tier content creator.
You'll find better options if you search further, not saying HTC isn't good in-btw.
Yeah, it's like creating epic adventures for passengers, letting them journey to new places, absorb diverse cultures, or just chillax and watch a flick while cruising in the back of a ride.
at least pretend a little
Yeah, it's like creating epic adventures for passengers, letting them journey to new places, absorb diverse cultures, or just chillax and watch a flick while cruising in the back of a ride
It's not like a smartphone strapped to you face at all. There is a separate lens for each eye which gives a sense of depth and actually makes the game feel like an immersive 3d environment. Much more than flat games.
>There is a separate lens for each eye which gives a sense of depth
You know google cardboard had that, right?
There's still only one focal plane. Looks like absolute shit.
an index headset with its controllers and a game running at a steady 120+fps is in another dimension than a shitty phone VR headset with wiimotes
its about as its real as VR can possibly ever get. theres no chance in hell theres going to be any kind of neuralink VR thing where you plug you brain into a computer within your lifetime. you arent getting a cool cyberpunk dystopia. this is it. the jank is gone with an index and good framerate. stop living in the past or dreaming of the future, you're wasting your time
I've used everything from the cheapest shit to an Index.
HONK HONK
The headset I got last weekend and it uses a USB C cable, and to link it up with a computer you just need a router to do it over wi-fi.
you are autistic and moronic
Why are bobos giving opinion on VR when they haven't even tried it out?
Lizard boy in the metaverse
VR and cars are forming up an interesting bromance, the idea of the motoverse is shaping up nicely
It's expensive, it's uncomfortable, it doesn't work for all people, and the variety of gameplay is pretty limited. Virtualboy 3.0 is still virtulaboy
what do you think of brand agnoticism, these VR boys are limited in that aspect something no project haven't done until holoride which are building such brought it to the limelight.
bank closed my account when it was 8 dollars overdrawn
8
The bankers are not your friends
Banks be like gimme $$$, we're just a cash grab, no love for us regular folks.
I used to feel that vibe until I stumbled JungleChase VR and Pixel Remaster
Yeah, call them "banks". Please don't notice.
Is that you Angry Joe?
Sorry for your loss fren
really? mine just charges me overdraft fees
Boneworks really isn't like Alyx at all. It's very jank and terribly built but it has a lot more ambition with what it tries to do with physics. Even though I personally think it fails and it isn't any fun at all.
If you're looking for another VR FPS that feels polished and has some production values, try Vertigo 2.
looks like HL did hell of a job
Did you also play Resident Evil or PS2VR?
And Im a 3d modeler, i could even make content for it
The shill paranoia is understandable since it is a regular thing on Ganker
i got it because i knew flight and race sims would never get boring, and there will always be new games in the future no matter how few and far between
between drifting cars with a ffb week and flying and actually realistically trimming planes with a ffb joystick + trim wheel and trim knob and 3 levers of throttle for throttle/rpm/mixture i will never regret getting VR and never forget about it completely
>with a ffb week
*ffb wheel, wew got distracted there
which one you using? which one should I get if i'm on a budget?
I looked at the g29 but it seems expensive for a shitty piece of plastic
its good quality where it counts, youll see. the wheel feels like leather, im not sure if its real leather and the paddle shifters are steel and they feel far better quality than the ones my actual fricking car has
it is real leather i just looked it up
it feels better quality than the wheel of any car ive driven recently too lmao
Any opinions on the t150rs? I'm not a racing fan so I don't really want to spend 300+ in a peripheral I might only use a few times if I don't like it
>Any opinions on the t150rs?
yeah, it doesnt have a clutch pedal, frick that
you need to get the g29/g920, get the logitech H shifter, and get dirt rally 2.0. and go here
https://www.briankoponen.com/dirt-rally-20-logitech-g29-g920-settings/
and copy his ffb settings into the game
dont worry about the FFB lut file generation thing, ive done it before and the frequency response or whatever was nearly totally perfect in the first place so it barely changes anything, just copy the other settings and itl feel great and youll be drifting and flying through dirt tracks in no time
all the shakiness you see in this webm doesnt exist in game, its just from my head moving and because the framerate is lower in the video than in VR for some reason
im a racing casul and i got a t150 and i like it.
ok simulators are understandable
that sounds both very distopian and intriguing
Im gonna get a vrset sooner or later anyways, the big question is simply when
i had this fear, now i only use it for porn
vr porn is genuinely that good. it even fools your brain into feeling the girl's presence at first
i stayed up all night drinking smoking and playing superhot. in the morning i went outside and i got confused as i was standing still and birds were still moving. this was not the VR version
tetris effect is real
I only got mine Sunday. I've had a couple of situations already where I had to leave the custom area I've set up, with the headset camera on and I had to consciously think that I WASN'T about to walk into a barrier. And when playing with H3VR I've had to resist the urge more than once to place one of the controllers on the (non existent) counter.
Basically I'm waiting for this to happen to me
vr ping pong is fricking intense
i wouldnt recommend it without an index at 144fps
within 5 minutes i smashed my controller against my dresser busting it open and the thumbstick broke out of place
i fixed it by jamming it apart more with a butter knife then shoving it all back together
all in the span of like 45 seconds
its still like new
Hahaha
I'm in a fairly small room for my PC and VR, I've banged my hand against the wall a couple of times. I'm waiting for something more serious to happen.
Meanwhile I'm trying to induce motion sickness with 6DOF shooters.
You should try Lone Echo 1-2 as well, for me the only games that compared to HLA in terms of production level and immersion
>Need too much space.
but more importantly. No good games.
Do Americans actually go into debt? I thought the joke about them maxing out credit cards was that they were hitting daily limits, but apparently they're literally just buying it on credit?
How is that financially sustainable?
Credit cards are actually predatory. They encourage you to pay a small portion of it back while the rest is interested debt
Not really. Americans are just stupid. Literally every credit card issuer has an option to autopay for your entire statement balance which will avoid any interest. If you pay the damn balance you don't go into debt and actually make a little money from credit cards.
Brown Americans maybe. I pay for things with credit and pay it off immediately. My credit scores are through the roof.
What first world country isn't drowning their citizens in debt slavery?
Pre 08 sure. Even by then the insta improved by mail with cards ready to go was dead. It now takes work and high level of stupidity to get approved and drown yourself in debt.
What’s worse is when The Americans train up a little Timmy to get a financial degree, blackhat a foreign security system, to pay off their debt??
>Video games
Nice frog
I dont understand why so many people are into credit cards. Just fricking wait for your job to pay you and then spend your money. It's not that hard.
Relying only on money that you're currently have also teaches you to be more responsible since you always know how much you're allowed to spend.
>you are living paycheck to paycheck, so you don't have any wiggle room for cash
>something you need to use to work or live gets broken: car breaks down, drunk driver strikes your car, bike gets stolen, you get sick, or whatever
>you need to replace that broken needed object but can't afford it right now, not replacing it now will cost you even more since you'll lose your job
>you know have to go into debt now
>you are living paycheck to paycheck, so you don't have any wiggle room for cash
Not my problem
None of it's your problem, so why ask in the first place
>Relying only on money that you're currently have also teaches you to be more responsible since you always know how much you're allowed to spend.
Thats the basic b***h approach.
Advanced thinking is realizing you're going to buy X each month. May as well charge it to credit and pay it back before interest kicks in. Any card worth a damn will have extra bonuses which amounts to free money for you.
Otherwise the horror stories you hear tend to be more along
Using a credit card doesn't mean using money one doesn't have.
Because at the end of the day, you're just strapping an ultrawide monitor to your face and using laggy wii-motes to pretend you are interacting inside the video game.
Zuck the kinda guy to beat a homie in a back alley for fun
I've never heard of this one before. If he's beating up Black folk he might actually be based. Any sources for this information?
Its so frustrating too. I've played around with VR projects in unreal and the shit you can do with modern mid ranged hardware is incredible but the market is so tiny now that no one touches it.
You can't even buy a newly produced PCVR headset for less than $500 and the Pico 4 doesn't even have native video input like the Pico 3 had so you're going to get a shitty compressed image like with the quest 2.
UE5 is just plain fricking impressive
Even my shit starter project I made following the sensei channel felt AAA
They’re selling the Quest 2 for $300 again though
>the Pico 4 doesn't even have native video input like the Pico 3 had
Stumbled on Audi, Bmw, and Nissan of recent building the future, and holoride and Meta are milking these niches.
this
>Right now when people think of VR they think of that image of Zuck in front of the Eiffel tower.
im not familiar with this though
You've never seen this pic?
>Everyone would be spending a zillion dollars and games would suck less if the graphics were less ugly
No
I’ve had my vive since 2017. It’s just so much work.
do you like the new HTC VIVE headset, its easier to use, lighter, and their partnerships suggest lots of games and other possibilities are coming in
Everyone is clearly on their ten toes in the VR markets and ever since i saw the Prince of Edinburgh bringing in his A-game when he wore the XR Elite of htcvive, boy i knew the game was on fr.
Fast forward to now, and holoride brand agnoticism is fricking killing it and Europe, Austria, and Germany and soon Asians won't be exempted.
It's crucial for holoride to be in on it to catch that demand, its got plenty to bring to the table for Asian customers, tbh.
HTC VIVE and a crypto company done something regarding motion sickness.
I know i've read an article about it last year, but can't member who
> so imagine a VR headset + headphones, frick no.
thats why there arent headphones, theres speakers, on the index they're just floating an inch and a half from your ears and the sound quality is incredible and it doesnt insulate any heat on your head at all
The headset itself is 10x more uncomfortable than headphones.
Man, this VRchat troony sure is dumb as shit.
My head is shaped fine. The Index is just a fricking heavy brick. You're moronic if you think the audio quality is as good as either decent speakers or decent headphones, they're slightly better than the Vive's DAS at best, and they leak sound far worse than any open ear headphones, and I've got some of the worst performing models on the market.
i dont play vrchat homosexual
yeah its heavy but its weight is perfectly distributed and its fine if you're not a pencil necked b***h or staring up or down for long periods of time
>You're moronic if you think the audio quality is as good as either decent speakers or decent headphones
the bottom of low ends lacks obviously because its so far from your ear but other than that its very good. i have bookshelf speakers coupled with a polk audio subwoofer with an adjustable low pass filter, HD 700s and a 600 ohm headphone amplifier
Haha! I've got the best from HTC Vive irrespective of the position.
>The headset itself is 10x more uncomfortable than headphones
and the headphones literally dont even touch you so no shit if somethings going to be uncomfortable its whats actually touching you
>The speakers are ultimately just fricking annoying, they don't sound any better than half-decent headphones
and no they dont
>and they leak sound like crazy so you can't watch porn with anyone else in the house.
not at all, pretty sure you're just making shit up because you're a shitposter who doesnt enjoy anything, its dumbfounding how different your supposed experience is from mine, its like you're not talking about the same headset,
i didnt expect your comment to become increasingly moronic forcing me to reply more jesus christ
Lack of any fricking space
Once apple releases their product and normies eat it up for the brand alone it'll get some more traction I bet.
no games, prices(over 1k for something good), space and its just a fricking monitor strap to your head, people though will be something like in Matrix/Play one etc, now just a fricking TV in your eyes
yeah, about that, nobody going to drop 3.5k to play fricking candy crash, VR its dead industry, the tech its not there yet, especially for high graphic games, so see you in 2 decades
apple vision pro isn't aimed at gamers, it's aimed at people who want to replace their laptop before everyone else does in 10-20 years
it may not even get candy crush
>especially for high graphic games
when it's about ps4 level graphics, it's good enough, currently standalone VR is PS2/PS3 level and the Quest 3 is 2x stronger than the Quest 2 so we'll see what devs do with it in a month's time
and most games dont need high end graphics
tetris effect and rez were great in VR
>we'll see what devs do with it in a month's time
Probably not much since Meta will probably mandate all new games still support Quest 2 for at least another year.
There’s only so much you can do in terms of scaling up.
you have no idea what you're talking about nodev
just look at the downgrades Onward got to run on Quest with crossplay
dev is at fault
>comparing gen5 consoles with gen2 vr
the endless stupidity of Ganker continues and I'm going to play some vr games while you suck your thumb
You’re the one who brought up the comparison though
>There’s only so much you can do in terms of scaling up.
do you know how games work?
Do you?
>they can't put those trees back in on the Quest 3 that can handle them, they must continue to deliver it for quest 2!!
kys you shitdev, you will never publish anything anyone would play
That pic is literally showing how the PC version got downgraded because of the crossplay quest port
shit dev at fault
no reason they have to be removed from pc version
they could still render billboard trees on quest and still have players partially obscured by foliage if they dont want quest players having a visibility advantage
though it's a really dumb idea to let PC vs VR because the control styles are totally different and PC has an advantage by automatic reloading, and being able to do crazier things with the camera without getting sick while VR is just limited to your physical body
dumb dev issue
btw the devs got bought by meta and they're doing onward 2 for quest 3
No I meant PSVR
*PCVR
Meta like building on others pathway, kek, good for them but when it comes to metaverse-in-car tech, the king of the roads Audi made a good partnership with holoride on it
you know apple community is silly
If they would be selling earplugs for 1k , with jobs tickling your butthole, they would buy 2 of them just to be sure
frick yeah, wannabes, so irritating
Duct-taping a TV to your forehead is not comfortable
Too many underpowered mobile headsets. with exclusives that would do better on PC.
Also PSVR exclusives on a system that
undersold.
Not to talk about most vr controllers being unusable on other headsets. making transitioning to better headset more expensive.
TLDR: Market too fragmented.
>TLDR: Market too fragmented.
just as fragmented as consoles, boohoo
The market size for VR is tiny compared to consoles
your point? consoles had a 40 year headstart, of course the audience is bigger, and VR still has room to grow, ataris weren't massively popular like gaming is today either
you still can't play starfield on playstation or switch, mario can't be played on playstation or xbox, gran turismo can't be played on xbox or switch, but you aren't crying about market fragmentation there because you're a moron
>you aren't crying about market fragmentation there because you're a moron
All of those fragmented markets have an install base of at least 100m, meanwhile the biggest VR market is Quest with only like 12m
the fragmentation was there from the start
can you play gran turismo 1 on any nintendo or xbox platform?
no
can you play mechwarrior 2 on any modern system? no
By the time GT1 came out the PS1 had sold about 80m units
Reminds me, one of the Mechwarriors has supposedly a really good vr mod.
speaking of mech games
All the games suck and aren't really too exciting after a couple hours.
It's all in your head. Vr is taking off in the modding community. It's just devs are moronic this Era even in aaa flatlander tier.
Too bad normies are too moronic to install even the simplest drag and drop mods. so they don't get enough attention
Not that they know where too look for mods in first place.
Because it's just a worse version of a going into games machine.
Outlast type horror game in VR would be cool tbh
Because it's shit. I bought VR 5 years ago, it sat unused 99% of the time. I upgraded to a new headset last year, I haven't used it for months.
If I see H3VR get a big update, maybe I'll put it back on. Until then? Yeah, there's nothing even remotely on the horizon.
The fact that you're shilling h3vr shows you're one of these failed dev paid posters
It at least has a non-zero possibility of eventually being a good game.
is that a crypto project, if he's shilling LOL
Too expensive and i don't want to have a meta account.
I cum no matter what. I am a hero.
Not everyone wants to ERP in VRChat
I play VR everyday. In fact I'm about to boot DRG right now!
Based Virtual Rock enjoyer, i hope you're enjoying the crossplay update.
Wtf thats cool
Quest Piracy is actually so fricking easy. I can't believe I didn't do this earlier, RE4VR is so fun just juggling the gun and knives.
PSVR2 seems cool on a technical level, apparently you just plug in a single usb-c cable ... but you are then of course restricted to PS5 games (meme goes here).
>negative balance
Why people do this to themselves?
I think thats just a normal part of being an american.
its taken off enough to be up to gen 3 in hardware improvements. It has tons of software opportunities with the modding scene alone
most importantly, it has taken off enough to generate infinite troony seethe on Ganker trying to consistently tear it down as a failure. If it actually were a failure there would be next to no mention of it on here
VRlets have to be the most pathetic creatures in existence kek
>gen 3
we're still in the atari days of vr, gen 4 is when nintendo will step in, when the average headset is PS4 lvl gfx for $200, and it will be the NES moment for vr
>image
i don't get it. given the price i'm assuming he bought the upcoming apple thing but did he have literally 0 dollars in his account before? and then overdrafted? or is he using a credit card for this purchase only? why couldn't the last panel just show a part of his transaction history instead?
not comfy enough. I'll put mine on again when the next alyx level game comes out.
wheres our vrmmorpg, anon?
vr hasn't taken off bevause sao isn't real, yet. make it real and more people will play.
There was one that was popular for a bit and then fell off.
I just bought a quest 2 2nd hand for $180.
What should I play on it? Already bought half life alyx. is there any good shit on the oculus store (that I can pirate).
I could have got a hp reverb g2 for like $250 did I frick up?
>I could have got a hp reverb g2 for like $250 did I frick up?
Not really, Quest inside-out tracking is still the best on the market.
yeah that was why I didn't get it in the end. plus from what i've heard the software it runs on (WMR) is basically dead and permanently shitted.
I didn't realise the link cable doesn't actually transmit native video though, that is a bummer.
>3 threads about VR BAD
Who is benefitting from this?
Anyway, back to Beat Saber
vrg groomer pedos
So now that the dust has settle can we all say that VR was just a gammick? I remember all the VRgays screaming and coping that VR will revolutionize gaming and it will be the future of gaming. I remember all the schizo meme template they made trying to justify their buyers remorse. Kinda funny to think back on and how it's so so quite now.
Even VRChat gays all say VR is dead
>Even VRChat gays all say VR is dead
Kinda weird to say since it keeps growing steadily for years.
How do they pay the bills?
You don’t need VR to use VRChat and they’re even developing a mobile port.
Investors and VRChat+
I wish I wasn't so socially anxious so I could play it.
Just leave the mute on. Granted they get pissed off when you don't respond to people but honestly I enjoy that part
I can't even manage that. I joined a server once and stayed for probably less than a minute in a corner of the map where there was no one and then heard some voices and disconnected.
You can also just join "private instance" and not have to worry about it
I might give it a go but I don't have particularly high hopes.
The trending world tabs variety box and something labs one that they recommend usually suck. The more interesting worlds are usually in the new and maybe updated maps. Everyday I jump in and check some new stuff out in those tabs. People stick to what they know which is why those other tabs kinda suck
I don't play it. I get more than enough socialization through normal VR multiplayer games.
Use it as training wheels homosexual, that's what simulations are for.
That's the plan but like I said I can't handle even vrchat.
Ok, VR homies, what's the best budget option? Quest 2?
just wait a month for quest 3 to be shown properly, then decide
and valve needs to hurry up and show deckard
Valve Index not so bad
Why get Quest 2? Htcvive is much cheaper, Vive Flow is less weighty, graphics and app integration top notch, also part of holoride motorverse.
You can get a rift s for like 130$
why the frick would you want that in 2023?
fricking weighty, stale for real
It's perfectly fine as a budget entry point.
Quest 2 quality is not much better if you are using a link cable for PCVR since it compresses the image.
You just have to live with the knowlage that somebody gooned at least once while wearing it if you buy used.
If buying used, expect to have to replace joysticks due to stick drift. It's cheap but a bit of a headache to do (only takes an hour or 2 and about 12$)
Buy it right or buy it twice. Wait for quest 3
Probably, the quest 3 is gonna be $200 more expensive.
>It's just a monitor strapped to your head
Holy frick the cope
Whats a good wireless headset for steam VR I have the HP reverb at the moment but I want wireless
The quest and pico headsets are the only wireless ones iirc.
Right now? Pico4. 2160x2160 (same as reverb g2) but the pancake lenses are waaaaay better
In 2 months maybe Quest 3. Advantage of waiting for quest 3 is that it will have a frickton of support since it will be popular.
For the P4, you should be able to get away with headset price + 100$ for a wifi6 router and a face mask replacement. For another 60$ you can get a 10000mAh battery pack which lets you play PCVR for about 4-5hrs total.
thanks
it's a gimmick
it's a fantastic gimmick, but still a gimmick
Computer mouse is a gimmick and still took off.
cause it costs like 10 bucks and I don't need to tie it around my head
It didn’t cost just $10 when it was first introduced
For me, it's Heat VR.
Wish I wasn't a poorgay so I could get a beyond
Imagine getting a $1000 graphics card and a $1000 VR headset because you unironically believed VR was the future of the industry. What a loser right hahaha...
You can still use the $1000 graphics card for stuff other than VR though
1,000 dollars isn’t shit anymore, who gets beaten up over 1 grand? I’ll drop that and forget in a week.
>VR was the future of the industry.
it is and it'll take you decades to realise you were wrong
it was always a demo, and really it's not doing or trying anything too special
it just looked good at the time because of PBR textures and lighting, which are now standard in everything
No NerveGear.
Also just remembered the full pt "game" that was only available on like Japanese ps5 launch units or something had a full vr port thats free. The link is on beardobanjos recent video on it
Ps3 I mean
* Price of a set;
* Few games.
you can rent a retrofit device from holoride for 29pounds/month yk, like why stress so much to grab 599pounds when i can rent this one for 3months
Sounds lit, gonna dive into VR this summer with this!
No idea
It's such a shame poorgays will never get to experience what VR can offer. The immersion is simply unbelievable in VR. It's nothing comparable to flat gaming. Once you experience it there's no coming back to flat gaming because it just feels fake and cheap.
I disagree, I still enjoy flat games despite VR.
Anon, I think the poorgays can experience the immersive nature of the Motorverse by renting a retrofit. It just gets fricking better in the VR space.
Imagine if apple decides to follow in the same footsteps and roll out rental services for their vision pro headset, I think that'll bang
Not everyone is moronic enough to spend $3.5k trying to own one
That'll be another Pussy experience Chad but they've got a long way to go as it's yet to be available for all cars.
They're practically working with lots of top auto companies for that reason
audi, volks, hyundai, porche to name the few I remember
Hyundai is so underrated, they make really good cars and have that Japanese durability
They mentioned something about using VR headset to allow passengers test drive cars from the comfort of their homes before choosing which one to buy
I think that will be really based
and shit can be rented, who does Tim Cook think they're milking shit is tiring fr i need a fricking break from such flimsy lifestyle ffs.
If i can get a retrofit device courtesy of holoride on rent for 29 pounds boy i'm balls deep on such besides i can subtly introduce it into my Uber ride biz and give it to my kids to game on after the day's work with over 15 games innit
definitely not me
with that I can get my hands on the holoride retrofit pack, meta quest 2 and playstation VR
apple likes to make their shitty product exclusive to a certain class of people, this is why I use samsung
No doubt $3.5k is a lot for an headset but we sure know apple don't mess around with their products, you can see how sleek it looks
Ultimately, it's going to indirectly promote adoption for other companies
The funny thing about the vision is that it's basically an upgraded version of an existing headset for half the price.
>Once you experience it there's no coming back to flat gaming because it just feels fake and cheap.
nah thers not that many good VR games to play yet
>most of VR gaming is completely blown out by SteamHome
lolwut
It's underutilized because the development tools for SteamHome are windows only, but you can do some pretty nutty shit with vscripting in steam home.
Person who actually owns a headset here
>It's treated as a replacement for standard gaming
>As an actual usable accessory for your pc it's severely immature
>VR developers are dickhead spergs and charge way too much for basic shit
Also most of VR gaming is completely blown out by SteamHome, The Lab and Alyx.
Which is not good.
Not after I played the Cloudbreakers Heaven with my Skyjacks Anon. I think some are still underrated.
Not everyone might be into it, but the fun is on another level, played heaps of MegaMan soccer as well.
most games are shit, regardless if they are VR or not, what's your point?
that valve is a good developer? yes, everyone knows that
You've got some pussy experience with some I guess. It gets more interesting when one can earn while playing a VR game at home or in transit.
Yes and uniquely it's a situation with VR games that the sheer quantity of them are blown the frick out, by three games that are 2/3 free and one comes with one of the headset.
Going
>UUHHERHHHHGGH MOST GAME BAD
won't change anything about the situation with VR and contributes literally fricking nothing to this conversation you moronic cum chugger.
Is Pico 4 actually good? I tried Oculus Rift before and it didn't impress me much but I'm willing to give VR another shot.
everything good is on quest 2 or pc
I can't think of any pico 4 games that are actually good
if you only want PCVR, then it's ok for that
I think that depends on the perspective you are looking at it. I've seen it used in the military so well and in the health care sector as well as in-car entertainment with Retrofit lit
Also the NFT gays in the thread should kill themselves NOW.
You got rugged so bad son, lets see how SkyJack of Cloudbreakers turns out now that nft staking is launching this H2
>You got rugged
I never bought your repack of the crypto scam you dumb subhuman animal
you just one homosexual that hasn't made more money but keeps loosing i get it son i do but when big minds are speaking you learn and don't speak trash, i suppose yo should be smart
The dumbasses with their Jpegs
So what happened to the Pimax or whatever chinkshit it was called? Didn't they live up to the hype?
Seems like it delivered exactly what was promised which was kind of moronic in the first place. So didn't really take off.
It requires gaymers to actually git gud instead of just sitting on their ass twiddling thumbs
No software. That's everything. I would be more than willing to break my VR out more often if there were compelling shit for it.
Check em
Unironically poor "people"
Ok moviebob
It has for me
This shit has been overheating my CPU regularly now. I have zero problems in literally all other games, VR or not, but this one destroys my CPU
Mine gets to like 70 C, which seems a bit much for a game like that, but still fine
My Ryzen 5 3600 idles at that... It's 74 right now with just a browser window
>VR has no g-ACK
>-ames
Ports don’t count
I feel sick whenever I play vr
Motion controls
Literally the best thing about it. Some games you don't even need to use buttons at all, just hit the UI with your hand/fingers
>Read thread
>Every VR shill are talking like linuxtards where you can't say anything bad about it
Not surprised, the only way it'll get better is if Gaben throws infinite money at it because the actual devs are out of touch neets
I can't afford it.
I get motion sick but vr never bothered me.
Have you tried it in a car before? I came across a platform that gives passengers VR adventures in vehicles and is synchronized with the route and movements to prevent motion sickness.
Remember decagear?
>having to strap an extra 10 pounds to your head + headaches
>almost every game is just game on pc + annoying gun loading or an hour long glorified tech demo on the quest store
>to even get something that isint the latter you need to own a pc anyways plus an 80$ cord
>fricking annoying with glasses or headphones
>cant sit/lay down for a lot of games
>needs good amount of space
index is less than 2 pounds and bigscreen beyond (which works with index base stations and controllers) weighs less than 1/3rd of a pound
of course if you have shit posture and your head is leaning forward, 2 pounds of extra weight could translate to over 20 pounds of extra weight on your actual spine
but this is fixed with basic yoga and good posture
...why is this thing OVER DOUBLE the price of a quest 2 when the quest 2 has a whole ass (albeit shitty) computer inside
You picked the wrong package dude. You need the base station for the index as well otherwise you get no tracking.
im not poor at all or anything but that is fricking absurd for add on
The index controllers are overpriced imo.
its a
>tiny monitor
>2 halves of a controller with moronic button placements
>facestrap+mask
i mean really these should be like 200$ max
never had issues with quest hand tracking
>never had issues with quest hand tracking
in front of your body. literally anywhere else and it goes breasts up and doesnt know where the hell they are
Actually they’ve improved the inside-out tracking a lot over the years so it’ll only lose tracking if you deliberately leave it out of sight for extended time
>i mean really these should be like 200$ max
You're not paying for what it costs to make you dingbat. You're paying for all the labor that went into making it, the actual cost of making it, and to keep the people who make it continuing to improve it, + some profit. You think all software should be free just because it's some 1s and 0s? That none of the people and effort that went into making it should be compensated for? moron.
because its not a piece of shit
except the cable
but if you use VR basically at all it will probably die within the 2 year warranty and you can just keep getting new ones for free i think
Because you put it on, not take it off.
Alright boys show off those bank balances.
The technology isn't perfected yet to be viable.
>Porn scene is dead
its never been better, girls like pic related doing tons of stuff recently
>I used my Quest 2 for 8 hours and never touched it again.
you used a shitty headset and got a bad taste in your mouth, its all your fault
Sauce me up buddy.
demi hawks
Up to like 130 vr cam girls on xhamsterlive at any given moment (using canary chrome beta branch)
cam girls are totally roasted, usually worse than even many pornstars
He wants wholesome prostitutes
Yes
>37k in savings
>Too less to invest
>Too less to buy a house
Great, I will just keep it in the ~~*bank*~~ and wait for it to depreciate
I fricking hate this society
Buy precious metals and wait for the bubble to pop.
Unless the currency change a hell lot, it's not worth buying gold/silver.
~~*They*~~ always buy back a lot cheaper than the market price is
It's not long now until hyper inflation starts, a block of gold will still buy you a house in 50 years, 80 billion dollars won't even buy you a muffin.
its a shitty gimmick
PCVR is annoying to use. It's a 5 minute setup every time, even worse if you took a couple week break. The headsets are uncomfortable and you will always fight a little sickness and a headache over time. Still no must play games for VR.
?? i type steamvr into windows search bar, grab headset and controllers and im done in 10 seconds
the frick is wrong with you people
>The headsets are uncomfortable and you will always fight a little sickness and a headache over time
not for me maybe try getting it to actually fit right and stop being a b***h
I realize you're a bottom 1% loser so take a second and have empathy and think about why it might not just take 10 seconds to start up VR.
Also it takes 10 seconds to just put on your headset, so you're already using minimalization tactics.
actually its easier than i described because steamVR starts when you turn on a controller. so literally all you have to do is put on the headset and grab the controllers and press the power button on the controller
easily done in less than 10 seconds if you have the controllers right next to you
i last used one 10 months ago, couldnt play pavlov because it loses tracking when your hands are by your fricking sides, at least in my lighting conditions/surroundings but it was pretty well lit, who knows maybe it doesnt like my furnitures color or something
but either way at no point did it ever feel anywhere near as smooth and responsive as index controllers at 144fps
>racing is by far the best genre for vr
>it can be done without vr (although much worse unless you invest into an even more expensive multi-monitor setup)
>it's also fricking dead and nobody plays racing games
Wipeout Omega is PSVR 1's killer app and yet I never hear people mention it. Articles just focus on waggleshit, over and over, like it's end-all be-all purpose for VR.
What do you mean racing games are dead? Nobody is playing them at all?
he means he's playing on a console and has no idea whats really going on with the VR racing community since its all on PC
I mean that beyond "I want to own a cool car but I'm priced out" rice replacement for zoomers in form of Forza, autistic racing sims and Mario Kart which funnily enough has a VR arcade cabinet, it's completely out of mainstream and out of high-budget releases.
>criticize a piece of tech
>”B-but look at how far it’s come in such a short amount of time! Surely this trend should be expected to continue!”
In reality the companies bankrolling this shit because they thought it would make them trillionaires keep failing to realize those fantasies and will eventually turn off the money spigot.
I'm honestly impressed by how little it's moved since the first generation. SteamVR still feels like beta shit.
VR is the next smartphone industry, the question isn't if it will succeed, but when. It will be the replacement for the monitor.
It won't replace the monitor
Not everyone like the idea of carrying big devices on their head
There is a point where the size and comfort of the device is good enough that the benefit of having infinite virtual monitors becomes worthwhile.
>It won't replace the computer
>not everyone likes the idea of carrying a 20 pound laptop around
The day VR/AR glasses and contacts are a thing and not a pain to wear (plugged into a power source/device), then yeah.
Have you seen the HTC vive headset? Its lighter compared to the rest and can be worn for hours. Heck I even use them on long road trips to enjoy VR contents from holoride. Not a bad experience.
Before wireless very light glasses are a thing, it's just too cumbersome.
I though about buying pico4, but it's wireless.
Why? just let me connect it using displayport.
You might want the dpvr 4. Display port and inside out tracking lik 500$ i think
>fire up Horizon Worlds
>floating mulatto head lectures me for half an hour
No thanks. I'll just stick to my pre 1950 books.
every game wants me waggling like a homosexual. i want to sit down with a controller. im honestly done buying vr games unless they let me do this. the gimmick is boring and uninteresting now
psst
project wingman
Lol blaming the game cause you can't help but to homosexual waggle
>Pay Modders
So devs can be sad about money theyre missing out on for being morons
Games aren't good enough to compensate for the wonkiness and price
Unless it's as cheap as a new controller it won't break even
>be tech-savvy
>still took me like an hour to setup and calibrate, and it still gets buggy for non-steam games
