It's not even bad now. It still sees use in VGC and BSS. Smogon Singles has it as UU but with fringe OU viability, as having a Fairy resist thats not weak to Fighting, and can threaten back with priority is really damn nice.
Except ttar flopping had nothing to do with not being a dragon, it was because Game Freak was too stupid to utilize Gen 2 pokemon properly in their own games so the entirely Gen 2 roster got effectively blacklisted by the community. Ironically Game Freak actively tried to avoid that problem in Gen 5 yet somehow fricked that up so badly that Gen 5’s is the one roster that’s even more hated than Gen2’s. Even in the subject of Psuedos Ttar is way more popular than Hydreigon.
By this logic they should only make variations of charizard or the singular most popular pokemon. Just because something isn't in first place doesn't mean it's in last place.

Solo run is the better term here. These runs aren’t very challenging in mainline games, it’s usually only like the 2nd gym that proves to be any challenge whatsoever. I’ve been doing the exact samething but with Delcatty instead, and these runs aren’t really hard, you get over leveled quickly and then just dom everything in your path.
Solo runs are fun though. It’s much faster way to play these games than the normal way since you don’t have to waste your time thinking about managing 5 other party members other than HM slaves.
Would recommend.
Playing StormSilver and I managed to get a Larvitar that evolved into Pupitar. Its going to evolve into a Tyranitar soon however I can't decide weather to pick ice fang or fire fang for its final move. So far I'm planning

I really wish they tried a new type combination pseudo every generation. Could easily try different monster types than just "big dragon" too. Metagross being a big fricking mech works.
