Then a month after launch they had to release a patch to reduce the amount of rubberbanding because the AI was rubberbanding so much that it was mathematically impossible for players to win some races due to how bad it was.
There's a bunch of stuff that needs to be improved, outside of that it's fun and it has a lot of attention to detail for a literal toy brand tie-in game.
Play better racing games. Plenty of good stuff. Fast RMX, Redout, ballisticNG, and I'm forgetting a bunch. The state of arcade-style racers is pretty dire though, NFS sucks, Ridge Racer is dead. Trackmania is alive and well, but I wish sunrise would get more love.
What do you expect? It's a genre that has very little room for innovation. The games you've grown up with are the ones you remember fondly, even though if they were released today, you'd shit on them just as much as any other current titles.

forza, f1, dirt, gt, ac, wrc, drive club and even few good nfs games came out in last decade (mw, rivals and nfs 2015) are all very playable considering you can find these for very cheap
