Let's be real though, there hasn't been a killer app since like the 360 days (Halo and Gears of War). Sony has never had a 1st party IP anywhere near that level, historically. They used to have really good third party support (things like GTA 3) that put them ahead of the pack, but that is no longer the model. Nowadays all good 3rd party games release multiplat.
Sony has a few exclusives, this is true, but they aren't killer apps. No one is buying a console for a 20 hour cutscene simulator like TLOU or nu-God of War. They are buying them for COD and FIFA.

I’ve been playing the new Forza Motorsport on Xbox and I’m having a blast. There’s room for improvement but the gameplay is great. As long as they continue adding tracks and cars I’ll keep playing. Can’t speak for guys on PC, it does sound like some are having a rough time.

The PS5 is cheaper here in EU. Xbox is 550 Euro but PS5 is 500 (with a copy of the new Fifa included which you could sell for 50 euro if you dont like fifa). The digital PS5 is 450.

i never had consoles before and bought this generation (both ps5 and xbox s) to check it out.
i see now reason to play anything on either one because everything that's worth playing is on pc and with better fps/resolution/mods, but that being said I would pick ps5 if I had to pick a console because it has more legacy games worth playing. xbox feels like a cheap pc with a focus on sports and other shallow stuff.
tl;dr: ps5 has nice exclusives from the ps4 era, neither has anything new that's worth playing

What makes you think that? Up until now almost every new game has released on PS4 so there wasn't really a need to upgrade until you decided it was time to upgrade which is where the 20k come from.
Scalping hampered PS5 sales for almost two years, and people weren't in a hurry to upgrade due to crossgen. Most who wanted to buy the now current gen don't even register Xbox as an option, and currently PS5 has some great deals around.

In the old days consoles used to be cheap but now they arent so whats the point of them? PS3 slim was like 300 bucks 3 years into the PS3 being out or something and you could get the xbox 360 for 200 bucks at that point. But 3 years into PS5 and Xbox they are 500 bucks.

Because the gen only just started this March. Hell, it still hasn't started since no one's fully transitioned to current gen besides Microsoft's first party studios. Covid messed everything up and they only just sourced reliable amounts of chips for their systems early this year.
But its not like 2024 has many games. The only two big AAA PS5 gen games I can think of for 2024 are FF7 Rebirth and Dragons Dogma 2.
