Why is AoE4 such a bland looking game? Where is all the color and whats the deal with weird white fog/haze and minimalist mobile UI, whos responsible for this garbage.

Modern devs, duh.
Don't you that minimalism is always good? And why would you want colors, reality has always had a gray filter.
so everything is easier to see and recognize
but its not, aoe2 is 10 times better in that aspect, same shit with UI, people saying upgrades etc were hard to distinguish from each other was one of the most reoccurring complains
maybe after playing the same game for 25 years, things might have been burned in to their minds and then they get confused with new thing.
dunno anyway aoe4 was fun to play through and i didn't have problems with it
It this was 2d with pre-rendered assets and made in 2001 you would have called it kino
frick off
3D killed the RTS genre
Bullshit, WC3 and SC2 both work fine in 3D. Other devs are just too moronic to make their units control well in a 3D space.
How does AoE4 compare to the rest of the series? Every time I see it mentioned in other threads everyone shits on it but imho they don't seem to have actually played it. I liked 1, 2 and 3 but what have they changed to justify the existence of 4?
They made the civs more different and there were less of them, which at least I personally liked.
A bit like in starcraft where each race plays totally different but not as extreme
Instead of trying to make a sequel that actually felt like a new game like they did with 3 they just kind of tried to make a 3D version of 2 that brainlets can enjoy
You'll play with anti soul gas and love it chud
>AoE3 getting a new expansion
Best news they've had recently. I've gotten kind of bored of AoE2.
Oh shit really? I hope they actually put effort in the voice acting. Bought the murica dlc and didnt know the settlers used text to speech voices. That shit bothered me.
Out of all the languages, they couldn't find American-English voice actors?!
>Bought the murica dlc and didnt know the settlers used text to speech voices
lmao what
Whats weird is that the OG game already had american voices with texan and colonial accents. The settlers in the america dlc continue the weird habit of other settlers from other cultures speaking their occupations in a literal meaning when ordered to do things i.e. a spanish settler saying cazador when asking to hunt animals. So you end up with american settlers saying lumberjack or hunter when ordered to gather resources in a very robotic voice. I dont know what the frick they were thinking.
>weird habit of other settlers from other cultures speaking their occupations in a literal meaning
Eh, it's a tradition at this point, I don't mind. I'm a Pierre and while it does sound awkward when french vills do it, it's just how it goes.
Modern 3D sucks.
2D had a certain charm to it. Is there any surprise RTS as a genre died once they made the transition from 2D to 3D.
That's technically called 2.5D
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2.5D
Just play Manor Lords when it releases, One dude will put every big studio to fricking shame
?si=Sj-eMQ04c0wKxi8C
completely different genre
>no handcannoneers
no thanks
Just play the good AoE like everyone else.
Perspective projection sucks for bird's eye view games, it feels like I'm hovering way too close to the ground.
Maybe less detail so it's easier to play on a console?
everything in game dev is getting outsourced to pajeets. it's pretty funny that pajeets are responsible for killing triple a. thank you india.
It was made for propaganda/replacement reasons. Of course, the objective was to bring a "new" audience to replace old farts still playing old and problematic games. It kinda works.
cus the game is specifically designed for the fans
the fans being sweaters that would prefer visual clarity and a simple, readable user interface
Incompetent devs
